I just finished watching the Nintendo Pre-show Conference, and some of the stuff they had was pretty cool. They showed a new trailer for Zelda: Twilight Princess, a load of Mario games, a small clip of Battle Network: Double Team DS, the Gameboy Micro, and more importantly, the Revolution. They brought a prototype on stage, and IMO, it looked pretty ugly. However, it does have a flash drive and backwards-compatability back to the NES (apparently), and overall looks like a nice system. They also showed the Gameboy Micro, which is just a really small version of the original GBA, which looks alright.

All I need to see is Sony's stuff and I'm set for this year. :O

edit: Yes, SR. I do not know why midnight was typed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going by looks, I would refuse to buy any of them. I'm probably one of the very few people who don't want to pay for a bit (or alot, whatever) of saved room in the form of something that looks like modern art. (also, why the hell did they mess with the already perfect playstation controller?)

Going by "special" features, I would still refuse. I don't want a console that plays every type of disc under the sun.

I want a console. I want something that looks like a console. I want something that is only a console.

The only thing left for someone like me to decide with is actual gameplay - or, atleast, gameplay movies - none of which have I seen (though, from the sounds of things, xbox 360 ones probably exist)

Thus, the Revolution is better, only because it has xtreem backwards compatibility. The end.

I personally think the Revolution looks like crap. As does the Xbox 360 and PS3 controllers.

I can live with the controller, it's not that bad to me. Long as the buttons are never switched around or they attempt to add more. The shape doesn't bother me. Only difference is the handles are longer and the top is rounded.

The Revolution looks incredible. I can't wait to buy it.

... I wonder how much they'll charge to download to older games. Maybe it'll be like iTunes, and go for $1? <_<

I like the revolution. For one thing it has 20 freakin' years downloadable games. That way I don't have to find roms if I want to play any of the old games (You know duckhunt plays really well with a mouse). But I'm still not getting a gameboy mini, I need that money for a DS. The PS3 controller can work well, if I ever need a boomerrang to throw. Laughing
I still don't care about the xbox 360.

i found a pic for gba micro it's so small . it has a dimension of 4" wide, 2" tall and 0.7" thick, small enough to fit into a pocket. The LCD screen is smaller than the GBA-SP, but quality is far better than GBA SP, GameBoy Micro also have backlit, adjustable brightness, plus a standard headphone port.
here's the pic

GB Micro is SO MINE@#$!#$ *hoards all her gameboys* The GB platform will probably always be my favourite system line. There's just something unique about "play as you go whereever".

I missed the conference concerning the Sony line, but I recorded it, so I'll watch that later. Seems like the PS3 will kick some major bootey.

Indeed.

Holy...that is one small GBA. It looks quite good.

Perhaps I can get the Revolution. I don't have a GameCube, but from the looks of things, getting all classic games is reason enough for me.

Personally, I'm not even going to touch the Micro - I'm perfectly happy with my SP as it is. I can't stand the fact that the Micro's screen is half as big as the original.

Though, it's for "stylish" consumers, which isn't me anyways.

Did anyone see the FF7 teaser they did for PS3 to show off its graphics?
i got real excited, thinking they were going to remake FF7, but it got my hopes up, since i'm not sure how to host the file, or where i got it from since, one of my friends sent it to me, all i can re-commend is going to look for it on the net, its truly amazing.

I agree. What's the point of making it smaller when it's already small enough to fit in your pocket?

Someone on another forum mentioned that all these new wireless next-gen controllers could eat up alot of batteries and battery money if they use batteries. I'll be seriously pissed off if it comes to that.

Nintendo good only at handheld games

Dark said you were generalizing and I agree. Nintendo has more than just handheld games up their sleeve. And I too hope the Revolution puts Nintendo back on top (am I the only one that thinks the Revolutions looks like the combination of the PS2 and a DVD player?) and yes, X-box needs more variety in it's games.

Agreed. SP wasn't entirely pointless because it was less likely for the screen to get damaged, it had a backlight, and a rechargeable battery, all of which the normal GBA does not have. What's the point of GBAM? Nothing new, except a smaller and crappier screen. Just another waste of money, like the GBP.

As for the Revolution, its failure might be inevitable. The majority of gamers today care little for gameplay and just want graphics. Nintendo remains optimistic and naive about their belief that gamers only want good games and care nothing for graphics. Unless they can make a great line of spectacular exclusive games, then the failure of Revolution might just cause the terminus of Nintendo.

Personally, I love the idea of the Revolution, but that's only because I still play old school games. I doupt it will appeal to the newer games (The majority), though...

This is really all my opinion, though. Don't take it personally (Especially the harcore Nintendo fanboys), it's just how I think.

Well at least they still have the guts to focus on what really matters in a game.

I agree, but unfortunately guts doesn't always pull through. GC actually could have been a success, they just never put a big number of games on it. Most of the games on it never really used the console's fullest potential, too. Games like Resident Evil 4, Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime (Both), and especially the new Zelda prove that the console is capable of visually amazing thing along with incredible gameplay.

Instead of more great games like those, the majority of the games on the console are related to things like movies and TV shows, we all know those suck, of course. It turns out that the only amazing games were made by a very few of the bigger 3rd party companies and by Nintendo itself.

This is really all my opinion, though. Don't take it personally (Especially the harcore Nintendo fanboys), it's just how I think.

I can see what you are talking about, but also, there are people that are such hard fanatics that they will only go for something that pertains to them only. The game companies have to somehow find a way to please everyone, including those people.

I personally like games with good storylines and ones that are challenging.

I really don't think that the GBAM is very useful unless you plan on playing the twin version of Mmbn5 or any other game taht required you to talk into a mircophone. I think it is kind of weird that they would do that.

About graphics over gameplay, I think that people look at something and see if it looks appealing. At first, in the earlier versions of games, people thought that it was cool and that it was fun. Once people got into the newer graphics, it became something like, "wow, that looks soo real or cool" usually people come to conclusions that if it looks cool then it might be a better game to play. It also has to appeal to the eyes too. If it is unpleasant to look at, I doubt you would want to play it for a long time or even play it at all.

Nintendo has gained a good amount of publicity and their name is known all around. It will be a hard competitor to go up against. If they can keep up with the graphics and have a good storyline for games as they sometimes do, then I think they will be fine. They have been doing this for a long time now. They seem to know what they are doing.

The thing is, all I ever hear from Iwata are comments that I think are very ignorant, arrogant, and naive. He didn't aknowlegde PSP as a threat when it wasn't even close to release yet, he said that gamers do not want to play games online and that the future of gaming does not include online games, and he also states that gamers do not want care about visually appealing games. Everything I have ever heard him say has just left me to hate the guy. Personally, I think he is a hypocrate and a fool.

He needs to let Nintendo move forward and grab for success. They have the ability to make Revolution more visually appealing. The graphics would not affect how the game plays in any way, so why not just give the Revolution appealing graphic on par with those of PS3 and Xbox? If they do that then they can easily appeal to the masses.

Just because a console is visually nice doesn't mean the games will be bad. They could have still made the Revolution able to play the older games even if they improved it's graphical quality =P. Of couse, being all about the graphics and nothing for gameplay is just as bad as being centered around the gameplay so much that the wants of the masses is blocked out.

Even Capcom realized that moving Rockman into 3D would be necessary. Of course that failed miserably, so they went back to the 2D awesomeness =P. [random]DASH 3 is a must on PS3, Revolution, and 360!! They need to do it![/random]

This all my opinion, though. Don't take it personally.

Yeah, I know where you going, Zero...and I get where this wi-fi thing is going (It's not really internet, but they can still play online! XD) I have an Old, clunky GBA so I might get Micro...I'm not so keen about a DS yet. I'll save up for Revolution. I don't want to sell my Gamecube at all...infact I'm currently satisfied with my Gamecube and my clunky GBA( though I want a micro...It makes sense...good thing I said no to SP) despite these outrageous monsters they call consoles...which are now more like Multimedia centers than the stuff they claim to represent.
