The topic says it all. Which do you prefer?

(ex. Netto or Lan?)

I myself prefer original Japanese name. Sometimes dub name just make me throw up.

I'd prefer the originals, because the dubs triggers some annoying cliches... and Bass is not a Fish, too.

Lan is not my network... -_-;

Subbed names because some of the dubbed names aren't very "creative".

Ex: Windblastman; Heavymetalman...

But Japanese names are so much more fun to say. <__<;;

All in all, I prefer to stick with the original. Certain dub names are just stupid, and although the game gets it right more often, I'm more used to saying the Japanese ones. >>

It depends.

In general I prefer to use the original names(Although I admit I did use "Raika" until I found out about him being named after the Balalaika.), although if I'm in role play or some such with people who aren't used to it, I'll use the american game names. But NEVER the horrible dub names... Unless I'm making fun of said dub names. :puku:

I'd rather you not group all the names as either "dub" or "original", because there ARE other alternatives. Like Azureman, I'm generally an advocate of the names used in the English versions of the games, and I have always completely ignored NTWarrior's take on the translation. There are also a few instances where I'll ignore the game translation where they're inconsistent with themselves. For instance, I'll always call them Metools, because they were Metools to begin with. Since BN2 Capcom's been consistently calling them Mettaurs even in non BN titles, and that annoys me. I also refuse to acknowledge the name "Japanman". Maybe if they called him that in MM6 I wouldn't care as much, but they didn't, and I stick with the classics.

Please kids, try NOT to bash the anime dub while describing why you prefer one or the other. Things such as 'the names are stupid, horrible, any other derogative'. There's more neutral ways to say things without bashing the dub's names, such as simply saying 'I don't like the names in the dub' works pretty well.

I have plans to make a fanfic ( in dutch) and im going to use the orginal names.
I like the orginal names much more than the dub names.

Yeah, I agree with Plantman. So I'll just say 'I don't really like using the dub names' One more thing, try not to turn this into a rant.

It depends. With the humans and any main Navi, I tend to interchange. Occasionally Lan, sometimes Netto(-kun). Mayl, Maylu, and Meiru are all used by me. Often I call Megaman simply "Rock", but I've also used "Mega" and "Megaman". For secondary Navis I tend to use their original names, only substituting the other for people who might not know the original. Secondary humans and any who haven't appeared in the English anime or games (especially the games since I'm barely into BN1 ^^; ) are usually referred to by me by their original names as well.

I like the ones that aren't Japanese.
Like Lan, Chaud, Maylu.
Even though I like the Japanese names, those names have grown on me after playing so many BattleNetwork games.

I guess I like sub names and sometimes dub names. Because I like Netto, Meiru, Yai, Dex and I dont like Spoutman, Heavymetalman or Savageman. I prefert Aquaman, Metalman and Beatsman.

People at school call me 'Lan'. So I have to prefer Lan on this one. @_@

Hmmm...I prefer the English translations more, but of course there are exceptions. For example, I will usually say "Saito," and when referring to him and his brother I will say Netto as well. I refuse to say Maylu. No "u" is necessary. I am impartial to saying Laika or Raika, but I prefer Raika because it seems more fitting. I also refuse to say the dub names for the navis and will stick to the names that are provided by their respective games.

For most people, I think that it really depends which version of the names you hear/see first.

In my case, I heard the dub names before anything else, so I tend to use them over the subbed. However, when I hang around REO, I catch myself typing 'RockMan' over 'MegaMan' Smile and I don't really do that anywhere else.

So I think that it really depends which ones you hear first, although there will be exceptions along the line.

I use them interchangebly. In truth I used to name all the human characters by their english names, and I prefered Megaman and Protoman, even Bass (so sue me) over the japanese variants, but since coming to this site I've come across such hardcore fans that I started using the japanese name so as not to offend anyone. They've grown on me and I like the japanese names more, but I still switch to english every now and again for the sake of tradition.

All the navis based on original robot masters keep their original name from the classic series.

It all depends. I usually go with whichever name I was introduced to, first.

For example, I was first introduced to Lan before Netto, however I was introduced to Laika before Raika, so I tend to use Lan and Laika.
