Um..I prefer to use dub names.

Their easier to say and i think they fit the characters perfectly. I don't think i have ever mentioned their japanese name on this forum..

As everyone can clearly see..im for the dub...i don't care if KidsWB cut out scenes, blur the swords, change names, rename the battle chips, skip scenes, add in voices, change the plots, or even skip episodes..the list can problably go on and on!
I'll always be a fan of NT warrior. And if i want to see a episode that they never showed..i simply download it..although i cannot until i get my own computer..but when i do..i'll go download it and be happy.

Problem solved.

Japanese names. Half of the english Navi names are longer than their originals. Takes too much time and pointless effort to type. Plus, Forte will always sound 5 billion times cooler than Bass.

Hmm... let me decide here: I prefer the originals over the dubs because the dubbers weren't accurate on some of the name translations.

i just use whatever, if the topic used dub names i just dub names, same with the original names.

in life i like to use the original names even for the battlechips (cybersword reminds of a lightsaber, so a navi with a hand that is a lightsaber... no)

its the japanese endings that drive me crazy, -kun, -chan, isn't -kun meant for a boy, but yet some girls get the -kun?

anywho, original over dub.

"-kun" can be used to address some one in lower stature than another person (such as in the military or a teacher talking to a student). "-chan" can be used when talking to some one you know very well, not just girls.

Before I came to this place I used all the English Game names. Since I've been here though I've started to use the Japanese names a little more, but I still like the English better. I've known and used them ever since I started playing Megaman, which was around the Classic series. In cases like Burnman and Japanman, I use Burnerman and Yamatoman because that was what I knew them as in the classic series. I don't ever use the NT Warrior names though, mainly because I don't watch the anime anymore ( got bored with it) and I know that Windblastman is Windman. =P

Also in my opinion....Bass(Like a fish) > Forte. XD

Weeeeeeeeeeell, my biased opinion is to hate NT Warrior names, be okay with the names in the Games(though Japanman was one of the stupidest things I've ever heard), and love the originals.

However, when speaking, I tend to stick to the game names, because... to be honest I'm afraid I'll mispronounce the original names sometimes. Plus most people don't know what I'm talking about. Like ... "duuh... Blues? who's taht?" and stuff like that.

Online I tend to stick to whatever's most common wherever I am, just to avoid confusion.

Either way as far as how much I like them it goes: Original, Games, Dub. Some of the Dub names are just so moronic and stupid... Like Japanman in the games but for many characters.

Wow cool, another dub bashing filled thread. Lotsa fun.

Usually I use the english version names. OCCASIONALLY I use the Japanese names, although I actually find it interesting that when they make the english versions of the game, they can actually make the first name (usually) of a character with a common Japanese name and make it into an english one (Teruo/Terry, Dekao/Dex, Daisuke/Dave) so I don't hate that. Also, myself, and my few friends who give enough of a crap to watch the show (or play the games moe likely) like some of the english names despite them being almost completely different, for example we LOVE Mr. Match Razz Plus, sometimes the english names can, on occasion, be slightly better than the original. Like Count Zap seems a little better than Count Elec, since that's just a reiteration of his NAVI, at least to me. The english anime names I SOMETIMES use. I might accidentally call Fireman, Torchman (I've actually grown to like that name a bit, some a bit more flavorish if you ask me) or if I think they have a good reason for changing that name due to copywrite infirdgement I might accidentaly call them Savageman or Spoutman. So for me it varies, but mostly I do what Raijin does, use the game names.

Zetto, the tread was not made with the intention to bash anything. It's simply a pretty decent question about what names people prefer to use. If any I requested to avoid dub bashing when giving away the reasons why they prefer one over the other.

Now, seriously... you're getting out of hand about your 'anti-dub-bashing' bashing. Sorry to say you're becoming a bashing person yourself. People are entitled to not like the names used on the dub, and so long as they do it respectfully (and saying 'I don't like the dub names' is nowhere a bash towards it), but your 'DON'T BASH THE DUB' comments are getting out of hand. Not only is bordering on backseat modding, which you've been asked a few times not to do anymore.

If anything that contains the slightlest hint of people disliking something about the dub upsets you, do yourself a favor, simply 'walk away' from it and let us handle the issues please.

It depends. With the humans and any main Navi, I tend to interchange. Occasionally Lan, sometimes Netto(-kun). Mayl, Maylu, and Meiru are all used by me. Often I call Megaman simply "Rock", but I've also used "Mega" and "Megaman". For secondary Navis I tend to use their original names, only substituting the other for people who might not know the original. Secondary humans and any who haven't appeared in the English anime or games (especially the games since I'm barely into BN1 ^^; ) are usually referred to by me by their original names as well.

i totally agree with you Smile

I only said that in reference to some of the first few responses. The subject of the actual thread I liked, but I also never said anything about hating people for liking the original names. All I did was make one sentence about that and the rest was completely on topic. and for the last time, I don't say thins like that for the sake of backseat modding, nor to I WISH to become any sort of mod on the forum. I'm Done.

I simply used this topic to bring up an issue that has been discussed by the administrative corps before, you don't need to tell people to stop bashing the dub. Spare the 'Wow cool, another dub bashing filled thread. Lotsa fun.' type of coments on the future. Let the mods/admins take the issues in their hands.

I prefer to use Lan because that's how I got to know him (meaning that I knew his english name before I knew his japanese). However, I'm willing to use any one of those 2 in a post here. :]

Zetto, responses like that we do not approve of.
Yes, the first few responses were dub bashing, but a mod took care of it. ONCE a mod takes care of it, then it's ended. If it happens again, a mod or admin will take care of it.
Thus, you are continuing it by making your comment. Consider this your first formal warning. Don't do it again.

I prefer the Japanese names, but I use them interchangeably with the anime dub names depending where I am. For example, I have a friend at school who watches the dubbed Axess every Monday (as do I). When we discuss the episode the next day at school, I'll use the dubbed names so I don't confuse him. I'm teaching him the sub names, though, but he still gets confused.

But when I'm online, RPing with my friend over IM, I'll use the sub names, unless I'm talking about the dub directly, like quoteing it the manga or something. Sometimes I get an impluse to type "Lan" instead of "Netto", after hearing/reading(like on the games or in the translated manga) it so much.

Yet, I have been known to put both sets of names on a paper. I have a Rock and Roll mini comic thingy, where Roll refers to Rock as "Mega", yet he refers to her as "Roll-chan". Which only further proves my attention span is slightly larger than an ant's. ._.;
