Do you prefer to use Dub names or Sub names?-no dub bashing!

I SOMETIMES call him Rockman, but it doesn't always have that same zing as it does when you pronounce it 'rokkuman' although speaking engrish while you're obviously American makes ya look kinda wierd @.@

I always use Rokkuman, I have a natural talent for pronounciation and apparantly it rarely sounds weird. XD

Not American either, but I dont think that makes a difference. XD

Izu- U^^ Yeah I guess that wasn't the best way to dscribe it, maybe more something like people who's mother tongue is english.

MSZ- Cool, for me it was vice versa. Spanish helped me with pronouncing Japanese words, same vowel sounds and all.

Sub names.

Rockman.EXE takes place in Japan, right? Here's one example: Meiru/Maylu. If you ask me, Maylu sounds more Chinese than Japanese.

While I prefer the sub names, I'm still attached to the old ones, simply because I just watched the show on TV before starting to download them. I'm trying to get out of the dub names though...

yeah... i used to call enzan 'chaud' all the time since i only got to see the dubs before, but now i only watch the subs so now its 'Enzan'.... plus, enzan sounds cooler thatn chaud -_-;

Then "Mayl" or simply "May" could have sufficed. "Maylu" sounds like something out of a 50's show.

Although I started into EXE with BN2, I abandoned the English names soon after being introduced to the Anime, which was then undubbed. Perhaps my rabid-fangirl-obsession with Japanese then had something to do with it, but the main reason was that Enzan was easier to pronounce than Chaud. :P Plus, certain Japanese names were just plain fun to toss around, like Mahajarama (say it fast. XD) and Elec Hakushaku. Understand that I switched to the Japanese names not out of wishing to stay pure to the original, but because REO at that time was almost completely Japanese-orientated, and I wanted to sound cool. >> And after a while the names stuck and grew on me. XD

Or perhaps my Chinese ancestry of overpronouncing syllables has something to do with it. Who knows?

it depends. i use ran, laika, forte, and several others but most of the time i use dub nmaes excepr when it comes to the stupid ones (vineman, savageman, spikeman, torchman, viddy, heavymetalman)

Well the added 'u' at the end might've just been due to the 'u' at the end of her Japanese name's katakana. I usually just call her 'Mayl' from the BN games.

Before you read my post, remember that it is just an opinion and I don't mean any offense whatsoever to anyone. ^_^

Honestly, I prefer the english "game" names, with the exception of Japan Man which was a mistranslation, and Flam Man which was made because of a letter limit.

Some of the japanese names I don't really care much for. Netto, for example, just sounds dorky and corny for a main character in a game based on the internet being hooked up to everything, in my opinion. While say, Lan is a cute pun to me and sounds...well more creative than Netto to my ears. No offense to those that like Netto better of course. Just an opinion. ^_^

Some I prefer because it is easier for me to say. For example, Bass rolls off of my tounge, but when I say Forte...it kinda twists my tounge around if I have to say a word after it. ^_^;;;

There are a few cases where I like the japanese name better. Mayl and Meiru is an example. Meiru kinda fits better than Mayl as a name, IMO. ^^;

Well just to tell you, 'Netto' is actually supposed to be 'Net', but the accent with ending a word in engrish with a t or d has to have a little 'o' at the end of it. Same goes for Saito, which is Site. I prefer Lan as well (I knew his name was Lan Hikari back when I barely knew ANYTHING about the battle network series o_o; Wink

Fiery battle does describe Netto very well. Of course I think Lan sounds cooler than Netto too, but for the boys down east, they probably think Netto is a cool name. Especially if they think it's net. Foreign words do make good names. For example, if we were to name a character "Hino" (and there is, I know.) They might sound cool, cause it's all foreign like. But if they did it in Japan it would be no different than us calling someone "Fire". Another example is Gladius. To us Gladius sounds strong, and really cool (and if not, at least play along for the sake of argument). But if you did that in Roman times, your kid would be picked on all the time.
"And what's this little boys name?"
"Gladius."
"Sword? You named him after a sword?!? Oh you pour kid!"

So that's why I think Netto is a funny name. I don't even know if my translation is right. For All I know Hino doesn't mean fire and Gladius doesn't mean sword. If so sorry.

Oh yeah, and an equation giving my opinion.
Bass/Coolness = Forte/Coolness.

Well, 'Lan Hikari' is a horrible name for those of us with AIIED (Auto Immune Inner Ear Disease).

For the first two weeks after NT Warrior premiered, I was certain that his name was 'Lance Montgomery' due to my impairment... so yeah... Then I got my captions fixed and found out my mistake.
