Well, I think that DS will probably take some priority for now, but the GBA will still continue with a somewhat slower game production for a while until Nintendo pulls out the next Gameboy.

Let's be rational here...

NES production went on for a year or so after the SNES came out.

SNES production stopped shortly after N64.

N64 stopped almost the instant the Cube came out.

Game Boy > GBC > GBA have gone about the same. When the Mini comes out, the games will all be for that. The DS won't be bumping the GBA, the Mini will, unless the games are the same format.

The DS isn't the GBA's successor, so there's no reason why they would.

Maybe if they get tired of repackaging GBA's, they will, but that clearly isn't going to be soon. :P

Isn't the Mini the same as the GBA, just smaller? No, they haven't replaced the GBA, and I doubt they'll do so for a long time. They're definitely going to hone in on the DS for a bit, and after that they're gonna pump the Revolution for QUITE a bit, but I'm sure we'll see a steady trickle of GBA games. Besides, so far as I know, there has been no mention of anything coming after the GBA.

It's been said many times before: The DS isn't replacing the GBA. Nintendo won't stop production until a newer Gameboy comes out (not the Micro. Something like the Color to Advance).

nope. if you look the GBA is one of the most popular nintendo systems. they're not gonna stop making games until probably a year after the mini is released.

BTW, what is the Mini/Micro?

Basically, a GBA SP that's half the size of the current one. Also, I think it will have a smaller screen.

Yes, the screen is about the same size as an adult male's thumb. They have a screenshot of it, and the guy's thumb could easily be larger than the screen.

The Micro's screen is 2 inches...

It's just a totally extreme version of the SP, minus the cool fold-up idea, plus a REAL backlit screen. It's not going to have a line of its own games, which I think is pretty stupid considering the GBA's been out for what? 5 years now? But ehh... they themselves at Nintendo have said that this is just to be cool.

If they're making yet another SP-type GBA I highly doubt they're going to stop making GBA games any time soon. Though I hope they put more into the DS games... -.-

No. The GBA is far too widespread for Nintendo to stop making the carts altogether. Seeing as how the DS is not meant to replace the GBA initially, we can safely assume that the majority of the games will still be created for the GBA. Sure, we can expect that many of the long-running series will be transferred to the DS in due time, but it is feasible to think that there will still be new GBA games for a while.

Wait a year or two for what's rumored to be called the gameboy "evolution" then they might stop making GBA games.

Nah. DS games take a lot of time to work, while GBA games are easier to make. And besides, if they kill GBA, they kill the entire GameBoy series. DS isn't necessary a follow-up of the GameBoy series, so no.

I highly doubt that the DS will highly affect GameBoy sales.

Besides. In all fairness the GameBoy is the Gamboy Pocket/Color/Advance/Advance SP. And the DS is the Nintendo DS. Not a GameBoy.

Phew.... now I feel safe. I'm sure that they won't stop producing for a while yet, just yet. That means I've gat a few more years to save up for my favourite games. :D XD

Just to inform you guys, Nintendo has come out with apublic statement that says theDS is NOT a Replacement for the GBA. It's a BRAND NEW game system line.

This is why the Name of the DS has nothing to do at all with Game boy.

We have the Game Boy and Console Lines, and Now we have the DS line. Therefore, Production on the GBA won't drop off until the Next Game Boy comes out.
