Yes, well, I finally got off my lazy arse to come and restore at least one of my fics with the help of Neko-chan. No, I will not be bringing back any of the others because that would take too much effort. That is unless someone has a copy of them... Anyway, Net Light is back. For those of you who don't remember it/what it's about I'll paste a little summary.
Summary: Rock Light's life takes a strange new twist when he realizes that his creator, Dr. Light has relatives and one of them is in quite a pinch. Now it is up to Rock to protect Netto, Dr. Light's young nephew, and try uncover the truth behind Yuuichirou Hikari's dissapearance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Net Light
It was a normal day in the life of Rock Light, also known as Rockman by most. He was the small blue robot created by Dr. Light, the world's greatest robotics genius, as a lab assistant. But, as fate would have it, Dr. Willy, Dr. Light's partner, went crazy and reprogrammed many robots to help him take over the world. So the little blue bot saddled up to go duke it out with the evil robots and bring Willy to justice. And for the past few years of his life he had done just that over and over again.
But for the time being the world was at peace and there was no need for him or his friends to fight. The sun was shinning, the birds were chirping, Roll was screaming at Rush for breaking a flower pot. It was a normal, non-violent day. Or so Rock thought.
A knock came to the door. Roll was the one to answer of course. She smoothed out her dress and opened a door to a young woman that appeared to be in her mid to late thirties. The lady had short brown hair and blue eyes. She wore a business like attire and had an air of importance about her.
"Hello, how may I help you?" Roll said politely.
"Hello, my name is Sherry Hikawa,” the woman said, “I am from the Sci Labs in Electopia. May I speak to Dr. Light?" This got Rock's attention. When anyone from a lab came to the house like this it usually meant trouble.
"Yes, please, come in," the female robot said as she stepped aside for Mrs. Hikawa to enter before she raced off to find the good doctor.
The woman walked into the den where Rock had been listening to their conversation. She gave him a warm smile which he returned.
"So you are Rockman?" she asked sweetly.
"Yes, but you can call me Rock," the boy robot said, “I prefer that name while I’m not fighting.” Mrs. Hikawa only nodded before turning her attention to the doorway.
"Hello," Dr. Light said as he entered the room. He was a plump old man, baring a strong resemblance to the legendary Santa Clause with a long white beard and gentle, welcoming eyes. "I am Dr. Light. Please, have a seat."
"Thank you," Mrs. Hikawa said as she sat and composed herself as if gathering her thoughts. "Dr. Light, I'm afraid there has been an accident at the Sci Labs involving your nephew, Yuuchiro Hikari." Dr. Light's smile vanished instantly and he seemed to of grown ten years older.
"What happened?" he asked quietly. Mrs. Hikawa now had the full attention of all the residents of the room. Rock and Roll exchanged confused and worried expressions silently. They never knew the doctor had any family besides themselves.
"The area where Dr. Hikari was working was attacked by an unidentified force and he was kidnapped. His wife, who had been visiting, was wounded and although she is in stable condition, she has fallen into a coma," she paused to let the information sink in.
"Please, continue..." the old man said grimly.
"...Leaving their son, Netto, without anyone to look after him,” she continued, “You are his only known relative and we were wondering if you wouldn't mind taking care of him untill this crisis is resolved."
"What about Tadashi?"
"Pardon?" The woman seemed surprised.
"Tadashi, my brother. Shouldn't he take care of the boy? It is his grandson."
"...You don't know?" Mrs. Hikawa asked slowly.
"Know what?" Dr. Light tensed slightly as the woman's expression became sad and sympathetic.
"Dr. Tadashi Hikari died several years ago in a lab accident..."
All the color in Dr. Light's face drained away. He seemed to of lost his grip on reality.
The woman shifted uncomfortably. "If this is a bad time, I'm sure we could find a good foster home for him..."
"No...It’s alright. He can stay here..." Dr. Light still seemed distant but he was firm on his decision.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Alright then. He will be arriving in the next few days. Thank you very much. And I am sorry for your loss," Mrs. Hikawa said softly as she made her way to the door.
"It’s alright. The boy should get to meet his Uncle," he said with a forced smile.
The woman smiled as well then was out the door to whereabouts unknown.
"Dr. Light...?" Roll offered slowly. The old man gave her a gentle grin that still seemed a little forced.
"No time for that now, my girl, we must prepare for our guest."
Oh, yeah, and I am going to release this one chapter at a time. I know I personally get really tired when trying to read a whole story in one post. And if anyone has the file containing Saito's Day Out or any other of my stories, then please PM me. Thanks a bunch. *scuttles off to play with the new emoticons*
(Er. I noticed a little while after posting this that there were more than a few errors and stuff. I guess I never realized it when I first wrote this thing.... Um, I'll try to correct all of the major mistakes I see. Please tell me what you guys also notice or see that I can improve on. >.<) _________________ Friendship is a promise made in the heart
Yeah, I'm trying to add in a few things. If not to make the story more interesting to reread for those who have seen this already, then at least to make it flow better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Net Light
Along the vast country side a small, black car sped along soundlessly, kicking up dust as it went. Inside a small boy dully stared out the window, observing the warm sun against the tall grass. The green and blue contrast of earth and sky seemed to be unreal in its beauty. However, the beautiful scenery did not help the child’s mood.
Netto sighed softly as memories of the fateful day when he realized that his whole family had been stolen from him wafted through his mind.
“Mama, I’m home,” Netto called as he stepped through their front door that was suspiciously open. “Mama?”
“I’m afraid your mother isn’t going to be coming,” a man answered instead. Netto’s heart leapt into his throat and he jumped back.
“Who... Who are you? What are you doing in my house?” the boy demanded, trying to be brave against the unseen stranger, “Where is Mama?”
A tall man with shaggy, graying hair stepped around the corner. His pale violet eyes reflected a hardened remorse as he stared down at the youth.
“H-Hikawa-san?” Netto asked softly, relaxing a little, “You scared me... What’s going on?”
“Netto... We need to talk,” Hikawa said, voice unnaturally soft and the poor boy soon felt the world crash in on him as the story unfolded. The story of how his mother and father had been taken from him in one fall swoop. He was helpless with no where to go, no one to turn to, or so he thought.
The boy sighed, reminded of his current destination. It turned out that he had an uncle who lived in some lab in the middle of no where. Yay, for him. Now he had to go live with someone who was a total stranger. It also didn’t help that the only other sentient beings for the next 20 miles were robots. Netto didn't really mind robots, except for the fact that you had to give them orders to do anything.
Netto groaned loudly and allowed his forehead to come in contact with the glass, making an audible thunk.
"Geeze, kid, don't get so excited," the driver muttered sarcastically. Netto frowned and turned to the man.
"Oh, yeah. I'm ecstatic," the boy grumbled.
"It shows."
"...."
"Look, I don't like this any more than you do, but you can't stay at Sci Labs. You're better off with your uncle."
"....Thanks a lot, Mr. Tenku," Netto grumbled.
"No prob. Its my job to educate today's youth," Tenku said with a smirk.
"I always thought it was to be the rude, front deskman," Netto snorted slightly.
"That, too. And towing you around isn't part of the job description."
"You know you love any excuse to get off work."
"Why, Netto! I am shocked and hurt that you would ever accuse me of trying to skip out on work!"
"What's next weeks excuse?"
"Dentist appointment."
"Not bad..."
"Learn well from my ways, young grasshopper." Tenku bowed his head and earned a soft laugh from Netto. It was a far cry from his usual cheerfulness but it was a start. The young man smiled and brushed some of his dark hair from his grey eyes to look down at the boy. He really did care about Netto. Other than annoying a few of the part time workers at the labs, hanging out with the kid was one of his favorite things to do at work.
"Hey! Is that it?" Netto asked, pointing toward a large building in the distance.
"I think so..." Tenku muttered. "You ready, kid?"
Netto gulped nervously, but nodded. Dr. Light's lab was only a few moments away

Wow, to be honest, I forgot the first two updates were so short. o.o;

Hehe. Thankies. =^^= I didn't really make many changes to this other than fixing how it was written in some parts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Net Light
Rock and Roll had spent the past few days doing nothing but cleaning. Sadly, cleaning wasn't part of Rock's programming and he had already broken several plates and nearly demolished the living room. Rush and Tango weren't helping either.
"Rush! Get off the table now!" Roll practically screamed as the sound of breaking glass reached Rock's ears. This was closely followed by the familiar sound of a broom striking metal.
"Yiiiiip!" Rush sped away as fast as his legs could carry him. Rock couldn't help but chuckle at the mutt’s misfortune.
"And just what is so funny, brother dearest." The cool tone in the girl robot's voice caused Rock to shudder. "You're cleaning it up! Rush is your pet."
"But, sis, Dr. Light's nephew will be here any minute!" Rock protested.
"Then I suggest you start cleaning."
"Awww...Roll-chan..."
"Now," Roll said forcefully as she shoved the broom into her brother's hands.
Rock sighed in defeat and sluggishly began to sweep up his dog's mess.
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Dr. Light was staring out his window, awaiting his great-nephew's arrival. His normally thoughtful smile was gone, replaced by a tired frown that made him seem years older than he was. The man sighed bitterly as he placed a hand to his forehead.
It had been so long since he had isolated himself from his brother and the rest of his family over a silly argument, or at least he used to think it was. When the memory of his brother‘s face flashed across his memory, the old doctor quickly shut it out. It was just to painful to think about. Now he would never have the chance to make amends and tell Tadashi how sorry he was for being so foolish.
A small tear rolled down his cheek as he realized all he had missed. He wasn't there for his nephew's wedding, nor the birth of the small boy that was coming to live with him. So many things to regret... So many things left unsaid... If only he had heeded Tadashi's warning about Willy... He could of been there. He had wasted a good part of his life toying with mechanics and blue prints when he should of been with his family.
Not that he regretted building Rock, Roll, Blues, or any of the other robots. Goodness, no! He loved each of them. They were like his children. His family... The one he chose over his human one.
He did not regret that at all.
The old man gave out a shuddering sigh. There were so many mistakes he made with Tadashi and Yuuchiro. He would not fail Netto. No matter what.
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
"I spy with my little eye...something.....orange."
"My overalls."
"Gee, how'd ya' know?"
"Its the only thing orange in the past ten miles."
"Lucky guess," Tenku snorted indignantly. Netto smirked. It was nice of Tenku to try and help him relax, but Netto could feel his heart pound harder and harder the closer they got. The building was farther away then Netto thought it would be. Not that he was complaining.
"Aw, chill out. I Spy is a little kid's game," Netto offered.
"So says the little 9 year old kid..." Tenku grumbled, causing Netto to frown in protest.
"I am not a little kid!"
"Of course you're not." Tenku's tone was mocking.
"Jerk..."
"Brat..."
There was a momentary silence.
"So, any idea what this uncle of yours is like?" the man asked.
"Your guess is as good as mine," Netto muttered, not wanting to even think about all the possibilities. He turned to face the window with a sigh. Tenku frowned when he sensed the boy's discomfort and didn't press the subject.
"........I spy with my little eye...something blue."
"The sky."
"Damn."
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Rock had finally finished cleaning up Rush's mess and was now wasting his time sitting on the couch musing over what it would be like to have a young human hanging around.
Rock never spent much time around any humans, except for Dr. Light, and he seriously doubted that the doctor acted like a human child. The only other resource was man's greatest invention, the T.V.
However the T.V. lead Rock to believe that there were three types of human children: brats, bullies and nerds. None of which he was looking forward to housing. Then again, the kid could be one of the very rare "goody-to-shoes". One could only hope...
Beat sped through the house squawking madly, as it did whenever they had guests. Rock snapped out of his day dream and raced to the door, tripping over Tango in the process. The robotic cat hissed at him and dashed off to find a safer place for a nap.
"Sorry!" the boy robot called back.
Roll was the first to reach the door, Rock second and Dr. Light last. The old man marched up to the door and put his hand on the knob and took a hesitant look over his shoulder at his two greatest creations. Rock and Roll gave him encouraging smiles and nods, eager to see their new house guest. The man threw open the door and stepped out to greet his nephew.
This is it...
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Netto and Tenku had no sooner pulled up to the house when the door opened and three people and several strange robotic critters poured out, all watching the car with anxious expressions.
"Looks like the welcoming committee is here." Tenku turned to Netto."You nervous?"
"A little..." the small boy muttered softly.
"You should be. Let's go!"
Netto slowly grabbed his stuff and forced himself to get out of the car. His stomach was starting to feel queasy and there was a part of him that wanted to hurt his ‘supportive‘ friend. Tenku cheerfully pulled Netto's bags out of the trunk and marched over to where the little band of oddballs waited.
"Hey, there! I'm Roshi Tenku. I work for the Sci Labs. You can call me Tenku or Mr. Tenku," he said as he extended his hand to the old man. "You must be Dr. Light, the unlucky smuck who has to look after the brat, eh?"
"Er, um, yes," the doctor was a little taken aback by Tenku's statement but took the man's hand anyway. "Yes, I suppose so..."
"Good, now I can finally be rid of you," he said, turning to the brunette. Netto glared daggers.
"Gee, thanks. I feel so loved," Netto grumbled. "You're not the easiest person to get along with, either, ya know."
"No one ever said I was. Well, my work’s done here. See you around, kid, and keep your nose clean!" With that Tenku made his way back to his car.
"Abandoner..." the boy muttered bitterly as Tenku drove off.
"Well, then..." Dr. Light began after he regained his composure, "I suppose we should all get acquainted. As you know I am Dr. Light, your uncle, this..." he pointed to the blonde girl in the red dress, "Roll, a house cleaning robot that I made."
"Welcome to our home," she curtsied politely. Netto was a little surprised to find out that she was a robot. She looked so...human.
"And this is Rock," he said as he pointed to the black haired boy who's outfit consisted of a yellow T-shirt and blue shorts. His green eyes were studying Netto intently and the boy shuffled nervously under the gaze. "I also made him." The robot smiled and nodded, but said nothing.
"And over here is Rush," the dog robot, "Tango," the cat, "Beat," the bird," and Eddie," the walking suit case. Netto had to do a double take on that one.
"So, is there anything you would like to know?" the doctor asked calmly.
"....Where do I sleep?" The doctor's smile softened a little sadly.
"Roll will show you. Rock, help him with his bags," with that the old man retreated into the house, followed by the animals. Roll walked over and took Netto's hand.
"This must be very hard on you, but I hope you enjoy your stay," she said sweetly.
"Thanks." Netto decided that he liked Roll already.
"Follow me, please," she said and the little human and Rock, the baggage handler, did as they were told.
As they climbed the stairs, Roll chattered on about anything that came to mind and Netto tried to sound interested in what she was saying though he was only listening to half of it. Rock's attention was totally fixed on the human boy.
Netto had wild brown hair and brown eyes. He came up to a little past Rock's shoulders and wore orange overalls and a white shirt with black marks on his elbows underneath. His hair was held out of his eyes by a light blue bandana and he had normal tennis shoes. The boy robot couldn’t seem to figure out which of the three types of human children this kid fit into. Thus he could be anything, and possibly something that Rock didn’t want to mess with.
When they reached Netto's room, Rock dropped the boy's stuff then darted out of the room. Roll turned and frowned at her brother‘s behavior.
"Don't mind him, he's just shy," she said. "I'll get you when dinner is ready. Call if you need anything."
"I will," the boy said with a nod and watched as Roll left the room to continue with her duties as the housemaid. Netto stared at the door for a moment then flung himself on the bed and for the first time let himself cry. Loneliness filled his entire being despite the other occupants of the house and he sobbed bitterly until sleep overtook his weary and troubled mind. _________________ Friendship is a promise made in the heart
Gah, sorry, everyone. I forgot to post this. >_<;
Nothing really new here because, one, I couldn't think of anything that it needed aside from a few touch ups. And, two, I forgot about this and wanted to get it posted as soon as possible. ^^; Sorry for the wait.
Net Light
It had been about two hours since Netto's arrival and Roll hadn't wasted a second on fixing dinner. Everything had to be perfect. This would be the first human house guest that they ever had and she wanted to make a good impression. The girl robot hummed happily as she pranced around her kitchen, checking pots and adding ingredients where it necessary.
"Uh, Roll-chan, you do realize that there are only two people who eat in this house, right?"
Roll jumped and turned to face her brother. She was so wrapped up in her work that she didn't even notice Rock enter.
"Of course I know that. Why?" she asked innocently.
"Well..." Rock sweatdroped at the sight of the feast that could easily feed ten humans. "...never mind." Roll eyed him for a moment then turned her attention back to the food.
"I hope there's enough..." she said, causing Rock to bite his lip to keep from laughing. "I wonder what Netto likes?"
The boy robot frowned. No one had seen the little human since he arrived. "I'm sure whatever you made will be fine."
"I guess so," Roll sighed. "This stuff will just have to do. Rock, would you mind telling Netto that dinner is ready?"
"Uh...What about Dr. Light?"
"I can call him on the P.A. system, like I always do," she stated.
"But... I..."
"Rock, you're being silly! There is no reason to be afraid of Netto!" she scolded and placed her hands on her hips with a look of disapproval.
"I'm not scared! I'm just....um...nervous, that's all..." he stuttered.
"It's just that you're being a baby! Now go up there, and get Netto! It's not like he'll bite your head off," she said with an irritated snort.
After many years of living with his sister and being a witness and victim of her temper, Rock knew better than to argue with Roll now. Thus, he bravely made his way to human's lair.
````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Rock wasn't sure exactly what he was expecting to find when he opened Netto's door, but this was not it.
The little human was curled up on his bed fast asleep. His pillow was clutched tightly in his arms, his face turned toward the wall so that Rock couldn't see it. As strange as he found the boy's posture, that wasn't what unsettled him the most. It was the tiny sniffling, whimper that he made every now and then.
The robot didn't know why, but every time the child made that sound he felt sad for the boy. Not to mention a little guilty for acting so rudely to him. How could anyone be cold to such a pitiful creature?
Rock snapped out of his trance when he remembered the reason why he was there in the first place. He slowly made his way to the bedside and attempted to wake the boy up.
"Netto...time to wake up..." His voice was barely above a whisper.
"Unnnngh.....five more minutes..." came the sleepy reply.
"No. Roll-chan will be angry."
"Who....?"
"Roll-chan, the girl robot."
"What robot...-Oh!" Netto's eyes snapped open and he tried to sit up but collided with Rock's forehead. The taller boy cried out in surprise then tripped over himself before meeting the floor on his bottom.
"Owowowow....!" Netto whined as he cradled his head in his hands.
"I-I'm so sorry! Are you hurt?" The robot was at Netto's side in a flash. He knew this was a bad idea. Now he had gone and hurt the boy. He'd broken the first law of robotics! He didn't deserve to live!
"Yeah...fine," Netto grumbled, "But you should be more careful, you moron! What the heck were you thinking?"
"I'm so very sorry! Please don't deactivate me!" Rock begged then braced himself for insults or whatever else the human had planned.
"......Huh?" Anger vanished in Netto's mind and confusion made itself known. "What are you talking about?"
"W-Well, I broke the first law of robotics..." Rock said softly with his head bowed in shame. "A robot must never harm or allow harm to come to a human being."
"Oh, yeah...You're a robot..." the brunette mused more to himself than to anyone. He then turned back to Rock with a careless look about him and shrugged. "So what? It was just an accident."
Rock hesitated before he raised his gaze to meet Netto's, finding it was totally sincere and calm. "But..."
"Look, its not a big deal. I'm okay. No harm done," the boy said firmly.
"You were awfully upset before..."
"Can you blame me? Its not every day I get woken up by a robot then knocked on the head..."
Rock chuckled a little. "I guess not. Are there no robots where you come from?"
"Yeah... But they just sit there and ask for directions all the time! Its really annoying. Have you ever tried to have a conversation with one?"
"I am a robot."
"You're different."
"I...I am?" Rock blinked in surprise.
"Yup. I've never met a robot who panicked and worried like you do."
"Well... I... Hey! That wasn't very nice!" Rock pouted.
"It wasn't supposed to be." Netto stuck out his tongue playfully, and Rock couldn't help but smiled at the odd human. "Hey, do you smell something?"
"Oh! I was supposed to tell you that dinner is ready!"
"Seriously? Why didn't you say so sooner!" With that, Netto zipped out of the room like a bat out of Hell.
"Hey, wait up!" Rock called and started after the human, then paused in the door way.
The pillow that Netto had been holding was wet. Rock frowned sadly then continued on his way to the kitchen with one thought on his mind:
"Why was Netto crying?" _________________ Friendship is a promise made in the heart

... <____<;;; *sobsobs* I'm sorry, I did it again... This summer I'll definitely have all of Net Light posted! *determined* I'm sorry to everyone who I've left hanging for so long. T___T;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Net Light
Roll was happily setting the table when she heard a strangely familiar tune echo from behind her. Her green eyes widened in surprise when she turned to face her mysterious older brother.
"Blues!" the girl gasped.
"Hey, sis! All this food for me? Gosh, you shouldn't have. I don't even eat," the red robot smirked and gestured toward the feast on the table.
"What on earth are you doing here?" Roll asked.
"Can't I visit my family every once in a while with out there being some kind of major crisis on our hands?"
"You've never done it before..."
"Point. I'll tell you when Rock gets here," the red bomber looked over at the table again. "What's with the food anyway?"
"I'll tell you when Rock gets here," she said with a mocking glance.
"Little sister is being rather testy... That can only mean one thing; we've got company... Or Rush broke something."
"A little of both."
"Ah. So who is the new resident?" As if to answer Blues' question, Netto came bounding into the room and ran smack into him. "...Never mind."
"Owch... Sorry," Netto muttered from his place on the floor. The boy gasped when he saw the armored robot who was staring at him intently through his shades, his yellow scarf dangling at a dramatic angle that gave him a very formidable appearance.
"Netto! Wait for me!" Rock ran into the room and came to a abrupt stop in front of his brother. "Blues! I'm so happy to see you," the brown haired boy's eyes lit up, then became serious. "What happened? Are we under attack?"
Blues sweat dropped slightly. "Geez... You too."
"Huh?" Rock cocked his head to the side in confusion.
"Eh, never mind that. What's with the kid?"
"This is Netto. He is Dr. Light's great-nephew and he's staying with us for a while. I'll fill you in on the details later," Rock said as he helped the human to his feet. "Netto, this is Blues. He is me and Roll-chan’s big brother."
"Your brother?" Netto gave Rock a weird look.
"In a sense."
"Oh, okay," the boy turned to Blues. "Nice to meet you."
"Same here, I didn't know the doc had any family," Blues mused.
"It was a surprise to all of us," Roll said then turned to Netto. "Are you hungry, Netto-kun?"
"Uh-huh!" the human's eyes lit up at the prospect of food.
While Roll got Netto situated and fed, Rock filled Blues in on their situation.
"...So that's why Netto is here," the boy robot finished quietly. Blues was silent for a minute.
"....Poor kid... I wonder if that has anything to do with it..." he said slowly.
"With what?" Rock asked.
"Well...You see, the reason I came here was to tell you that Wily has escaped from prison, again." Rock's eyes widened in horror and the color drained from his face.
"How?" he chocked.
"I figure it was Forte or one of the other robot masters," Blues said.
"Oh, god..." Rock buried his head in his hands. "Why does this keep happening?"
"Sorry, bro, but there's nothing we can do about it except be ready," the red robot stood up and wandered toward the window. "Its only a matter of time until he makes his move..."
"I know," Rock sighed. "I just wish that we didn't have to fight..."
"But we do. We are the only ones who can."
"I know that, too. And we will fight."
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
In the kitchen Roll and Netto were talking happily about anything and everything that came to mind. Ranging from the weather to video games and even about the latest trends and things of interest. It was mostly Roll that did the talking but Netto didn't mind. Roll reminded him a lot of his friend, Meiru Sakurai, his oldest and dearest friend. And he liked having something familiar around.
"...Hey, Roll," he interrupted.
"Yes?" The girl robot didn't miss a beat.
"Where is Dr. Light?"
"He said he would have to skip dinner. He's working on a new project."
"Oh...He's like Papa..." A dull sadness fell over Netto's eyes.
"I-I'm sure that he'll be here for breakfast!" Roll stuttered. "So...What do you think of the new online video game system by Ayano Tech?"
Netto could tell that Roll was just trying to steer the conversation away from his parents. He didn't mind and he decided to play along.
After dinner Netto and Roll went into the living room where they found Rock sitting on the couch staring out the window.
"Rock, where did Blues go?" asked Roll.
"I don't know... said he had something to do..." There was a certain tone in Rock's voice that immediately got Netto's attention.
"What's wrong?" the human child asked as he plopped himself next to the boy robot.
"Nothing..."
"You're lying. I didn't think robots could lie," Netto stared straight into Rock's eyes.
"I'm not lying." Rock had to look away from the boy's gaze.
"Yes, you are. Tell me the truth." Rock flinched. Whether Netto knew it or not, he had given Rock and order. And due to the second law of robotics, Rock had to follow that order.
"There...is a bad man out there who wants to hurt a lot of people and I have to stop him..."
"Is it Wily?" Roll stepped forward looking scared and nervous. Rock nodded his head slowly. There was a long silence.
"...You can stop him, though," Netto stated. Not offered or encouraged, but stated. As if it were a fact. Rock's head lifted to meet the boy's eyes.
Netto didn't seem fazed in the least by the new information.
"Netto...Do you know who Wily is?" Rock asked slowly.
"Yeah. He's that crazy guy who is always trying to take over the world or something like that with robots. You can beat him," Netto said again without a hint of disbelief or worry.
"Netto-kun... It’s war. A lot of people might be hurt."
"Not if you stop them."
"But... I don't want to fight anyone...I don't want to hurt anybody..."
"Who would you rather get hurt; Wily and his evil robots or innocent people?"
"I..."
"If you want, I'll go with you." Out of all the things that Netto said, that was the one thing that stuck with Rock the most.
Many people had given him speeches and told him that he was doing was the right thing, but no one had ever gone so far as to offer to go with him. Nobody had ever seemed willing to put themselves in harms way and volunteered to go through hell with him. No one...
"N-Netto..." he whispered. He was truly moved by the boy's vote of confidence.
"What? Its no big deal..." Netto blushed slightly and looked away. Rock grinned widely.
"Thank you, Netto-kun," Rock smiled brightly. Netto said nothing but shifted with embarrassment.
"...Oh! Look at the time!" Roll gasped. "Its almost 11:30! Netto-kun, you should be in bed!" Before the boy could even open his mouth to protest, the blonde scooped him up and raced toward his room ranting about how boys his age needed at least 8 to 10 hours of sleep.
Rock made his way up toward his room shortly after. And despite the inevitable war on his hands, he had never felt better.
