Sorry about that. ^^; People have a tendency to slip posts in while I'm posting, then I have to go back and put the quote in. I'll get rid of it(have I been excessive about this?)

Usually, addressing the name of the person you're talking to catches their attention to know you're replying to them. I'm just asking this because lately many people keep doing that all the time.

Okay, it looks like none of you guys are talking about what I am trying to talk about. I am going use my forum as an example:

http://img7.echo.cx/img7/7305/untitled2qq.png

see the circle? That button is what I am talking about. I don't care if it's last post or first post or whatever, I just want the button back.

Sure, but the reason I want it back is because I want it deleted before anyone sees it. I think it will be too late if I PM you guys first and then you guys delete it. If I can delete it myself, I can delete it much, much faster.

In my opinion... not having the 'delete' button, also helps to catch people being spammy, doing things they SHOULDN'T and then having the chance to 'erase it' when they regret it. I can see the bother of double posting. But the lack of the button helps to catch up some people that aren't behaving.

Whaaat? So people that realize their mistakes and change their mind and want to make it right before updetting anybody still deserve to be caught and punished?

If people regret their actions and undo them before causing harm, then they're not even being spammy. How can it be considered misbehaving if the indeiscretion is cancelled out before it takes effect?

If they did something wrong in the first place, why shouldn't they be caught and not be punished if need arises? There's always the 'edit' button anyways.

I am talking about allowing ALL POSTS to be easily deleted. The problem is... you never know if when you realize your post might be harmful and then you delete it, oh surprise, someone alredy saw it and quoted it. The harm turns to be greater. You should think what you're going to say before pressing that 'submit' button.

Sadly but true, I've encountered a few issues here that back up what I just said. In any case, it's up to Ryo/Nobi to decide if this option should be brought back or not.

I seriously want this option back. Sometimes, I accidentally post at the wrong forum, and want to delete the post, when I find out "ah, the new forum doesn't have the delete button anymore!" and that frustrates me.
...
In addition, other PHPBB boards have the most recent post in a thread with a little "X" button in the upper-right hand corner, next to Edit. That allows the user who posted the most recent reply to scrap itas long as it remains the most recent.
Personally, I think it may be a good idea to bring back such a function, but I fear it may be abused.
...
And yeah, on the old forum it was a separate button next to the edit button, as long as nobody posted after you. Now it seems only admins and mods have access to this button.
...
At any rate, I don't think anyone is asking to delete posts after they've already been replied to. That's just not for trolling, it's also to avoid confusion. Deleting a post in the middle of a thread is barely ever a good thing. Deleting a post right after it was posted is practically a neccessity though. Making mistakes like replying to the wrong thread, posting in the wrong forum, and accidentily double posting are more common than they ought to be.
...
I thought that you could delete your post if you were the last one to post, and if nobody else viewed it.
...

Not one person in this thread has asked to be allowed to delete ALL posts. Every single person just once the option to delete a mistake before anybody sees it. What is wrong with "No harm, no foul"?

Yea I have to agree with Raijin after all I think its fair to have the delete button with the same way like the old fourm where once you post you can delete it but if some one replys then you cant delete it. I see no harm with this. Another thing is that a problem can start if for example some one were to post somthing stupid like spam and realised he just did somthing stupid so he wanted to get rid of the post before a problem starts. Now the problem would be solved if the post was deleted imediatly. If it was not deleted then people would start falming him for that and stuff and that would start a scene that would not be needed. Now of course its his fault for posting that but a mistake fixed is sure as hell better than a problem starting. Just wanting to catch the person even though he broke a rule is ok and all but it would be to late because people would have already scene the post he made. Think of it like this deleting a rule braking post before people see it is a good way to prevent a problem from starting and you would not need to care to find the person because you would not know or if you did see the post before it was deleted warn him on PM so no one would notice the post was there and deleted. Fourms no matter what you do will never be perfect. Take the NO RPG topic thats stickyed yet people still make threads about it. Theres always gona be a spammer some where whos gona start fights and stuff but at least with the delete button after you posted somthing it would prevent somthing from starting would you agree?

I totally agree with that. You guys are starting to lose the meaning of why telling a person to stop spamming. The reason we do that is to tell him/her that this isn't acceptable and telling him/her to not do it again. If the person is smart enough to delete the post since he/she realized that this is a spam and is not acceptable, he/she already learned a lesson. So what's the point of starting a flame war or any sort to get a lot of people to be hurt just to teach this one person a lesson? If they are smart enough, they can just teach themselves without hurting others' feelings. If they are idiotic, then....flame war is the only way to cure it. But that's only if they are iditoic.

Well a flame war is not really nessesary >_>. I mean the point is that it prevents to many problems from starting. The Admins or Mods of thos sections could jsut handel it them selves but instead more people just post over and over again insulting him/she's intelegnce or somthing. Who cares if you dont know if it happens or not the important thing is that there is at least some sort of peace on the fourm without having people reply and stuff makign fights.

That's the problem though it's 'impossible' to not see it in this forum during the busiest hours. So the 'no harm no foul' doesn't work that well to its fullest.

In any case, it's ultimatedly up to the admins if they want/have the time to re-add it or not.

Wow, a war over a delete button.

In any case, IF Ryo wants the delete button back, Nobi will put it in. But at the current, he's busy.
However, a feature like that like Planty said, can be abused too much. It's a large forum, you might just have to tolerate it, and if you want something deleted, just pm one of the admin. We're not going to bite you, and it honestly makes our lives easier without the delete button.
