Strange. Laika seems like the preferred name everywhere I've seen the character, and yet today's episode of Megaman NT Warrior shows that the dub has sided with Raika. So which one is to be used?
Accursed L and R. :grr: _________________ Please comment about my work. I don't care what you say. Like my art? Hate my art? Wanna express feelings of undying love to me? Wanna express your intent to murder me in my sleep? Comment. |

Raika is the translated name.
Laika is the original one in the Japanese games, and anime.
Take your pick, although it has been discussed before... _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! From Television City in Hollywood! It's time to 'Press Your Luck!'--Rod Roddy

Whatever you want. The english version calls him Raika, and that's what I'm used to calling him, technically it IS a correct translation. But Laika is a Russian name, so we can assume that that's the correct one due to Sharo being the EXE Russia. |

Zetto, both Raika and Laika are russian names. But the apparently correct name is Laika since, according to Junkman he was named after the instrument-and river "Balalaika".
The spelling however is incredibly diverse even among Japanese fans of the series, you can find him often named "Raika" "Reiker" "Laika" among others that make even less sense. Technically Raika is just as fine as it can be considering the spelling issues. _________________ Hecha en MÉXICO - Avatar by Me.

If this is a poll on opinions, then I'd pick Laika. Reason is, that it just sounds better. _________________

THe post cards say "Raika" So, Saying "Laika" and retaining "Bomberman" is hypocrasy
Anyway
they meant "Laika" based on the russian instrument called a "Balalaika" which is kind of like a guitar. He's usually translated as "Raika" though since there's no L in japanese and such _________________ Here's lookin' at you kid. |

Personally, I think that 'Laika' sounds like a girl's name (which is probably just me). So I don't mind 'Raika' at all.
Side note: Someone had to bring this up, 'Laika' was also the name of the first dog (a Russian dog at that) in space. _________________

Wasn't that technically "Leica"? <_<
...but, yeah. The man has more names than Ijuin has misspellings. I just leave it at Laika.

When I was deployed, there was someone on the base whose last name was Laika. Since I had visual evidence of the real existance of the name, and the spelling, I'll have to say that Laika is the correct spelling. _________________ Church: Are you following any of this?

...oh, that's right. Laika's the dog. "Leica" is the preferred name of thousands of hardware and machinery companies. <__<;; Mother has one of those heart monitors in her lab made by Leica Inc.

um i think it has something to do with the pronounciation of L and R, so Raika is pronounced as Laika _________________ Dont' Overdo it...First Aid |
