Hm, I'm sure I saw the three laws mentioned somewhere in the Megaman games... I'm not going to go through them all to check though. Razz But I seem to remember that, because I too thought about Megaman and the laws when I saw them in this film. Yes I did know that this movie was a book first before going into it and that the three laws existed way before Megaman, but still. I didn't compare the rest of it to the X series, but that is an interesting comparison. I do see where you're coming from. Dig this:

Sonny is like a Reploid, sorta like X or in this case more like Zero because he "dun a bad thing" and no one trusts him. (But if he is like Zero then maybe Dr. Lanning is more like Dr. Wily.. or not. Hehe.) The rest of Sonny's kind would have been controlled by Viki or the Sigma Virus and gone Maverick, taking human hostages and in some cases killing them. Sound like a reasonable comparison? Yes, I can see it from that point of view then. ^_^

The way I see it, the robot laws are never stated in Rockman but there are many places where they are implied such as the X series with the whole maverick thing. Those robots were designed to have free will and therefore can break the laws of robotics.

IF "X" WERE TO BREAK THE FIRST RULE OF ROBOTICS, "A ROBOT MUST NEVER HARM A HUMAN BEING", THE RESULTS WOULD BE DISASTROUS AND I FEAR THAT NO FORCE ON EARTH COULD STOP HIM.

More than an implication, really.

I just look at it like this, the laws do apply, just that, Robots created or reprogrammed by Wily can disobey the laws if written into their system, just like how Viki in "I, Robot" used all those robots to attack the humans, simple as that, how many good bots you see harming humans.....simple as that Razz

Basically. Laws are programming, and programming can be rewritten, overridden, or otherwise taken out of the equation.

One example can be seen in the first Mega Man TV show cartoon where it shows good old Doctor Wily using a reprograming gun to turn the nice robots of Doctor Light into his servents that will obey only him and can harm humans.
