Medi is the original spelling. Meddy is the translators' spelling.
It's like Laika and Raika. _________________

It was Meddy in the Japanese EXE5 at one point too. Specifically, when she's deleted it shows that spelling. |

I call her Midi, because I think she's another character who's name is music-oriented. |

Wait - she was deleted? I think I missed that one - is that when they were fighting CosomoMan 'for the last time'? _________________ 闇の黒井心の本当のカ

No, the "Rockman Deleted"-ish message that shows when you die in an EXE game. |

I always refer to her as "Medi." Simply because it is the closest to her function, which is a field MEDIC. Coincidence? I think not. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! Of course not....but what does that have to do with countering my point? Medi was a special case, and given the choice of spellings, I made my choice based on what was more logical.
Of course this train of logic should not be followed in general--why do you insist on generalizing my logic to places where it would not apply? _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! I consider it be like a Nickname sort of thing. Like how the name Fredric becomes Freddy, Medic becomes Meddy. That's why I think it's spelled Meddy, even though I find myself using Medi sometimes. -_-; _________________ Name shortened from Serenade.exe |

Eh, people always have their own preferences for spelling. I don't see any reason to argue against Medi, although Meddy seems to have more weight as the official name since it's used both in the english and japanese games.
But for God's sake don't call her Midi. That would imply she was based on the X series character Midi, which she's not. It would also imply her name would be spelled differently in katakana, which it's not. |

Is there any evidence at all that suggests it'd be spelled "Medi"? I like Medi better, but ehh... Seems to be Meddy. :/ _________________ I think it's time to say goodbye. |

Well, the fact that her name is derived from "Medicine" could be considered evidence.
Edit: I knew it was spelled out "Medi" somewhere, and after some checking through PMM's archives, I found this from the October CoroCoro issue.
So there you go. |

Yeah, that's where I thought the name "Medi" came from- "Medicine". It also suits her since she's a healer. But when's something is dubbed, there's a chance that the spelling can change. _________________

...maybe it was Medi, but they changed their minds...?

I'd say chances are better the Japanese writers just don't know their english well enough to keep the Romanji spellings consistent. They spelled Toadman's name "Todoman" when he was deleted, so you can't really trust them on the correct english spelling. At least in this case, I'd say it can go either way. "Medi" works because of the root word being "Medic", but "Meddy" works because it looks more like a cute nickname as Seren said, and it actually seems to fit her. |
