This is a roughly ten part, five chapter each (give or take) series that delves into the origins of each robot of the GGG Mobile Unit. I'll try not to alienate people from reading this.

Part One: A Call from the Dark
Chapter One: Spirits-Go

August 8, 2003.

At the age of eighteen, Guy Shishioh was the youngest astronaut in the world.

It was a clear sunny day, perfect for a flawless take-off. Technicans and workers scurried in and out of the launching pad like a tiny mound of ants.

Here he was, ten years after he decided that he was going to follow his mother's footsteps and play among the stars. He flipped several switches on a nearby console.

The last of the technicians and grunts scurried away. "Preparations complete on this side."

"Roger. Ken?"

"Ditto."

"Well, then. I salute you. Commence final countdown of the Spirits-Go."

The droning countdown was renewed with vigor. "T-minus five...four...three...two..one...lift off."

Guy's heart thumped with excitement. This was the very moment he had been waiting for.

He was a man caught between the throes of adolescense and adulthood. Guy was a natural athlete, his persistent drive to be the best building him that way. Atop his head was a fiery mop of orange-red hair, his eyes a rich, deep blue.

He recounted the promise he had made to his father two years ago. "Dad, when I get older I'm going to find Mom!" he had exclaimed to him. His father had supported his claim all the way to this moment.

The shuttle reached escape velocity and broke through the atmosphere like a chick breaking through its shell. The shuttle hurtled and went into an abrupt stop as it started again at cruising speed.

"And the Spirits-Go has taken lift-off." Ken, Guy's partner, laughed uneasily. "This is your maiden flight, too, eh? Just like the Spirits-Go. I bet your girlfriend's pretty proud of you, eh?"

Guy's hand went unconsciously to his chest. Mikoto had skipped classes just to see him off. Two years ago, when the Galeorea Comet had swung around again, they had met. It was the same day his family had recieved the news that contact had been lost with the satellite his mother had been on.

Mikoto had given him a pendant just the day before he was scheduled to be on the Spirits-Go. It contained an old high school picture of her. "When you're in space, you can look at this locket and remember me," she had said.

Guy glanced out the window, mesmerized in the abyss of space. Stars broke the vast blackness and created a sporadic scene of light. His fascination with the stars was interrupted by a red alarm.

"What is it?" Ken slammed on the communications button.

"Warning, warning! There are two unidentified objects coming your way!"

"What?!" Guy turned his head to the intercom.

Before the operator could speak, there was an instantaneous crash at the side of the shuttle before the metal was torn away. A shard of metal splintered through Ken's chest. Guy watched in horror at the purple-gray scale-like mass that had buried itself into the shuttle and didn't have a chance to react as a sheet of metal pinned him down. He could feel the sickening crunch of bones as he lay across the terminal. The sudden onset of pain knocked him into near unconsciousness, and in his dying vision he saw two eyes glowing a fearsome green.
