I have absolutely no idea is this the right place to post. Anime Section doesn't seem to fit seems some of them maybe not doing AMVs, but this place isn't for discussion except posting your own AMVs. I don't know. But I still think this is a better place to post than the Anime Section. If it isn't, go ahead and move it, Admins. >.>

As the title says, how did you get into making AMVs? Me, I got inspiration from a lot of AMV makers in here, and finally realized, "Oh, I think I should get off my lazy bun and try to do some AMVs!" And that's what I did.

well my AMV making started way back when i was a little kid when my older brothers and and sister would make home made skits with another family but they would never let me join them so as i got older i started to make movies with my Legos making them move frame by frame (Before i got a Comp) and then i would make my Legos into Megaman People.so after a while i got a computer and started to Download Megaman clips to put into a Music Video A.K.A Megaman Hero and another one that i no longer have Megaman - When Worlds Collide and i have been making them ever since. like with the one i just got done with Rockman.Exe - DemonHeart i was inspired by the words of Dr.Regal in Episode 2 of Rockman.Exe Axess whic were "From now on, all humankind will live in fear." which help me make the AMV into what it is now

Well I 1st saw alot of AMV other people had made and I remember thinking "I wish I could do that" at this time for some reason I could not import any episode in to Windows Movie Marker which is what I use after a while I got my hands on some clips and started to cut them up and mix clips from other shows and so on then I worked out how to make them with no sound and place other sounds over them and that when I made my 1st one some of you may have saw it I think it was Shadows of The Past or somthing but it sucked then I made We stand togehter My Rockman and Roll one and just the other day Bass' Battle.

the same reason as Rockman.exe, of course that screwed the rest of my year in tech. case 'I was doing Grade 11 work in a Grade 10 course in Grade 9' makes no sense, I know but it is the truth.

*Shoots WMM, the Quality it gives me is horrible though...

I just spontaneously decided one day to fool around with Adobe Premiere. I learned video editing in my film college classes, though with a different Adobe program, Final Cut Pro. They're basically the same thing, though. Anywho. Sat down, made "Just Once More" in 24 hours. Was very excited.

"Bring Me To Life" took me over 100 hours in the course of a week. Nearly cried when it won an award at a con about a year later. I don't have much time to spew many of these out, but the ones I work on I devote myself to completely.

I'm no longer a film major (switched to photography), but I still love video editing. Is much fun and entertaining. I'm very old school though, I despise most special effects that just tend to make a video look tacky and "look at me I'm pretty".

I blame Ryouko. XD
So yeah, newbie me was browsing through REO's video files (I was a download whore, downloaded everything even if I knew I wouldn't need it o.o *ducks flying objects*) and "Oooh, music videos? Whassat? *click*"
Downloaded Bring Me to Life first, then Just Once More, and watched the both of them at least a hundred times a piece. My immediate thoughts were "omg so pretty~" and "I wanna do something like that .-." Sooo. I went cruising to the link section and found BakaNeko's sub-shop, talked my mom into making my Xmas present a batch of EXE subs (both season finales and everything I knew at the moment had Elecman innit). Spent several weeks trying to find out what program to use, and one day I get back from school and mom figured out how to randomly stick Freezeman and Heatman's fight to 'Breaking the Habit' .-. She showed me WMM and I sat down, told her to go away, and in two days made an AMV about Bug Style to the song 'Numb' by Linkin Park. And omfg did it suck. Buuuut I wouldn't have that, and over the course of nearly two years have made over forty AMVs. All of which suck. .-. I just recently discovered that VirtualDub + Vegas = my new god, so I'm finally getting a bit more serious with it. I'm still under the pretense that everything before Zips sucked and was practice. x_x

DS: More paragraphs? -_-;

When I first made an AMV (later known as 'Shooting Star'), I had never seen any other AMV before... But the reason I started it was because I had this useless program called 'Windows Media Maker' and my older i-sister was into Rockman.exe and Japanese music, alot, so I decided to make an AMV for her.

Bleh, well ever since my i-sister left us I didn't really care for making AMVs, but then I had this awesome idea, when I was playing PIU, of a high-paced moving AMV (even though I later on found out that there are Rockman AMVs about twice the moving speed of mine), so thus, I made Dignity in under 2 hours, which turned out 100 times better than I expected.

My new project, 'Shake Your Booty' was an original idea spawned from my i-sister, and I'm thinking of completing it for her sake. My new voiceover, 'Hikaris Gone Wild' is being completed on an account of just being a complete butt-face and attempting to distort the peaceful view of the Hikari family.

Well, I made AMVs' since september this year...I actually have at least 50 of them, being Rockman, Inuyasha, Dragonball Z, Darkstalkers...tons of crap. and like rockx_exe, nobody notices the many updates I made. My current project is making all of the EXE characters seem a little crazy using the song Bitch Please...we all know how wierd that's going to be.

My one and only attempt at an AMV was piecing clips together in VirtualDub on a PIII, 8 MB graphics card. XD I never finished it past the 30 second or so mark, but it was to Natsu no Maboroshi and it was focused on the friendship between Rock and Netto in season 1. Someday when I figure out how to use a good program - now that I have a PC that can handle it - I'll go back and finish it up.

It started from watching too many and having too many bad ideas myself. XD;

I started out with freebie ones like VideoFramer that were like...100 tall by like 120 wide and put the name of the video maker over the corner which wound up taking up a full quarter or more of the tiny little frame.

...>_> Then I found Windows Movie Maker... which sucked, but at least it was like... 320x240, which I've kinda stuck with since. O_o; No matter what. But that's my computer more than laziness.. but there's laziness in there. -_-;

Most of my AMVs have been Sailor Moon-Related. The biggest influence was Aluminum Studios a while back. I moved on from WMM when I changed OS from I think it was ME that had it... to Windows 2k... -_-;

Adobe Premiere is wonderful... when it isn't poofing, crashing, or having words with my evil computer.

Who also poofs PSP on me, but hey. Razz

I noticed none of my computers have ever liked Adobe Products... Aside from not liking it, the computers also won't RUN Adobe Photoshop. O_o; So thusly, I think this is why it's so difficult to get Premiere to work correctly and non... um... 9_9; Mm... What's a good term... Ano~...."skippily". >_>;

But I still use Premiere 6 when I make an AMV. Which isn't half as often as it used to be from frustration. -_-;

I do like the two recent EXE AMVs I made... Just that more recent ideas (along with recent eps) seem harder to do with my current computer's more argumentitive status against Premiere than his predecessor/"Mother". O_o; -_-;

I guess... to sum that up... It was basically, "Hey! Other people can do it, I've seen horrible and fantastic, it can't be that bad, and I have ideas, so let's try it!" XD

Well, I've watched a lot of AMV's since I got a computer way back in 2000. After seeing so many, I realized that many were just hack jobs of a few clips put to a song. The actual video could go with any song at all and it would be about the same. So I decided to make my own. I was a huge Cardcaptor Sakura fanatic back then so I made it my first one.

I didn't have Windows Movie Maker back then. I had to import clips from my VCR/DVD onto my computer, then put clips together. Course the program couldn't let me add music from my computer to it so I had to use another program to add the music. So if the music didn't match with the video, I'd have to do the whole process over again.

Thankfully last October I got a new computer and now I have Windows Movie Maker and making AMV's couldn't be easier. I agree with Ryouko that those fancy editing effects look too tacky. Give my a simple fade anyday. Laughing
