I've noticed that with the edit button, you're post doesn't go up to the top like with a new post. The only problem I have about that is in the DNN Station, whenever I add a new AMV or something, I use the edit command to avoid double posting or triple posting. So could the edit button also push your thread back up to the top, at least in there? _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

Depends. People could abuse the function by over-editing their thread, just so it gets attention by being at the top.

We don't seem to have trouble with you double posting as long as you're posting an update to your post. I think you can do just fine postining a new AMV or leaving a comment to announce the update and then edit the first post to change the title. It's how people does it most of time. _________________ Hecha en MÉXICO - Avatar by Me.

People can do that already by replying. The admins could put a stop to abusive Edit-Bumping as easily as they could abusive Reply-Bumping, the only difference is there'd be less double-posts this way.
The only board type I remember where Editing had the bump effect was EZBoard, I haven't seen any ProBoard or PHPBB or similar thing with that feature since. It may be too difficult to include in the programming. But if it is possible, it couldn't really hurt. Most people that have art threads and have something new to add after a month or two already have to edit their first post to change the topic title AND add a reply to the end to bump it to the top, having the edit feature bump would just kill two birds with one stone. |

Personally I wouldn't mind it myself, would be much better than double posting -withing the character limits, because sometimes the forum does refuse to update threads that exceed an amount of characters it seemd.
The problem is I don't think it's something that can be done in this type of forum. It'll be up to Nobi to determine if it's possible and in such case if the process won't be too troublesome to implement. _________________ Hecha en MÉXICO - Avatar by Me.

So since I already put a new AMV up with the edit command, I could add another post announcing it's update? _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

That's the general practice, anyway. It may seem inconvenient, but I have a good feeling it would be WAY more inconvenient for Nobi to make things just a little more convenient for you. Of course any added convenience is a good investment in the long run, but this one in particular hardly seems worth putting the time and effort into any time soon. |

I believe this was asked way back when and I agree with, Raijin.
If you can't figure out what to say off the bat, don't come to the forums or just, look over your post before clicking, "Submit,". |

The way I make my thread to the top when I update my AMV is first (seeing that you only do this with AMV, I guess this will do.) I copy my last post completely, delete the post, reply the topic, paste what you copied and add your update, and then your topic will be the top. This way, you can get your topic in the top with editting. _________________

XD I do that sometimes too on other forums.
Here though, the double posting thing seems allowed for updating. I must've abused that like a bazillion times in the Spriters Lab boards... so there's no need for a Bump button. That would be wicked abused.... I think bumping your topic with a Double Post when you have more content to add to it is a pretty safe bet. So many people could easily bump topics for no reason. _________________ I think it's time to say goodbye. |

Like I said, people can already easily bump topics for no reason. It's called "replying". There's no difference between irresponsibly bumping a topic with the edit button or the reply button. Either way you'd get in trouble for it. Actually, less people would be able to pointlessly bump with an edit than a reply because for that they'd have to have posted in the topic already.
When a topic gets bumped for no reason, it gets locked, and the bumper gets in trouble. I've already seen it happening. I don't see how adding another way to do it would make things worse. I suppose the logic you're using is that twice as many buttons with the bump effect means twice as much bumping? But remember that that the number of people that are stupid enough to bump for no reason is the same, giving them a second way to do it won't exactly increase their frequency with it, they'll just have another option with which to do it. The end result is exactly the same. |
