Lan & Megaman: Maverick Hunters Ch 14. Nightmare!

Here it is once again my first fic. Not my best one... of course


Chapter 1: Summer Beginnings

Lan Hikari was sitting in his desk finishing up his math exam. After, this was done it would be the end of school.

"Psst! Megaman! What's the square root of 36?" Lan asked.

"Lan, I've been specifically told not to help you with your exam.” explained Megaman, rolling his eyes.

“Fine have it your way!” scoffed Lan.

When Lan finished his exam, he looked up at the clock. There was still half-an-hour until he could leave for summer vacation.

“I wish time would just hurry up.” Lan thought. Lan started to become really drowsy. He took a big yawn, and closed his eyes. Then, he started to dream.

This distracted Megaman, who the got hit by a spiked wheel, then the massive maverick chomped off his left arm.

“Aaaaaa!” Megaman screamed in pain, “Lan… He- Help me.”

“That’s it,” Lan said frustrated, Muramasa, megachip in, download!”

Zero was now the one dodging all of Wheel Gator’s attacks, trying to get a chance to hit him. Megaman charged at the maverick with the steel blade on his right hand. Wheel Gator quickly snapped his tail right into Megaman’s chest, where his data was stored. Megaman started to disappear.

“Lan wake up!” Shouted Megaman. “Sorry, I guess I dozed off.”

“Anyway,” Megaman said, “We can go now!”
“Really!” Lan said as he got up, and started singing.
“Well we got no choice
All the girls and boys

If that don't suit ya

Chapter 2: Maverick Attack

Lan and Mayl were sitting on a bench in the Dencity park talking about what they wanted to do during the summer. Lan mentioned some netbattling tournaments at the SciLabs. Mayl said she wanted to go to Netopia, seeing she'd never been.

"Mayl, before I go, there's something I'd like to ask you." Lan said embarrased.

Mayl's eyes lit up, "Yes?"

"There he is, i must kill him." said a voice from behind a bush two meters away from them.

"Will you- did you just hear something?" Lan interrupted himself.

"No, what were you saying?" Mayl said impatiently.

Lan started to speak again when Dex phoned him. Mayl sat there waiting for Lan to finish the conversation with Dex. As she waited, something caught her eye. Someone was spying on them. The person spying on them saw Mayl get up and walk towards him, and bolted from behind the bush. Mayl ran as quickly as she could after him. Lan then hung up and saw that mayl was gone.

"That's weird." Lan said scratching his head.

He then walked over to Dex’s at a normal walking speed. He found himself at Dex’s house, so he knocked on the door. The door swung open to reveal a smiling Dex.

“Hey, come on in!” Dex greeted.

“Hi. What are you so happy about?” Lan asked.

“Nothing. Let’s go to my room.”

“Ready?” Lan asked.

“Let’s go!” Dex replied, “Gutsman, Jack in, execute!”

“Jack in, Megaman, execute!”

The two navis shot down in streams of light. As soon as they landed the words “BATTLE START” flashed, commencing the battle.

“Megabuster!” Lan said.

“Megabuster!” Megaman’s right arm took the form of his buster. He shot off a few plasma shots, hitting Gutsman in the chest.

“Gutshammer!” Dex said.

“Gutshammer!” Gutsman agreed, bringing his fists down on top of each other, creating a wave of energy.

“Look out, Megaman!” Lan said. Megaman responded quickly by leaping up in the air over the attack. “Elecsword, battlechip in, download!” The sword appeared in place of the buster. The sword was cracking with energy, and it glowed a bright yellow.

Megaman landed squarely in front of Gutsman. He got ready to slash Gutsman, but before he could, a blunt object, which hit him in the chest, knocked him back. He looked up to see that Gutsman had punched him back.

“That’s it!” Lan said angrily, “Spreader, battlechips in, triple download!”

“Program Advance! Hyper Burst!” Lan and Megaman said together.

Megaman lifted up the upgraded spreader buster, and took a shot. The projectile zoomed at Gutsman, but in mid-air the attack split into many shots, hitting Gutsman multiple times, causing heavy damage.

“Gutsman! Let’s do this!” Dex said, “Zeus Hammer, megachip in download!”

“Megaman, jump!” Lan ordered.

Gutsman brought down the giant hammer, causing a massive earthquake. Megaman was in the air at the time, so the attack missed him. Gutsman, however, was hit by his own attack, forcing him to log out.

“How?” Dex asked, with his mouth hanging open.

“Thanks for the battle Dex. I better go now.” Lan said as he logged Megaman out. He quickly ran out the door to get home. When he got home, his father and mother were standing there.

“Your home!” Lan’s dad said, “We’ve got a surprise for you.”

“What?” Lan asked anxiously.

“We’re going on a cruise for a month!”

“A cruise?”

“It’ll be great, Lan! By the way, you better start packing we leave tomorrow!”

“Okay.” Lan said, as he started up the stairs, “A cruise?” Lan asked himself in disbelief.

As soon as he finally determined when all this was happening, he headed over to Mayl’s to say goodbye. He walked slowly while slouching. He was mumbling to himself what he could be doing this summer if he didn’t have to go on this cruise. After a while he found himself at Mayl’s front door.

DING DONG

“Hi Lan.” Mayl said as she opened the door.

“Hi, can I come in?” He wondered.

“Sure.” Mayl answered

Lan and Mayl walked upstairs to Mayl’s bedroom. When Lan plopped himself on Mayl’s bed, he jacked in Megaman to say goodbye to Roll. Lan told Mayl everything about the cruise, and right when he was going to ask Mayl what had been on his mind, Megaman warned Lan.

“Lan! Beastman’s ghost! It’s back!” The blue navi yelled.

“Not again!” Lan cried.

Beastman started to rush at Megaman.

“Lan, I need a chip and fast!” Megaman cried.

“Aqua sword, Battle chip in, Download!” Lan said.

Megaman’s arm quickly morphed in to a blue glowing sword. He quickly dodged Beastman’s attack. Beastman charged again, but stopped right in front of the navi and tried to slash at him. Megaman rapidly locked Beastman’s claws with his Aqua sword.

“There you are! Time for a deletion.” said a mysterious voice.

“Megaman! Behind you!” Lan nearly screamed.

Megaman quickly dodged to the left, and saw a short fat thing jump right through Beastman. Then he saw that Beastman was being deleted.

Confused, Lan asked, “Who was that?”

“It wasn’t a navi or a virus.” Roll said.

“Megaman, Jack out.” Lan pressed the button on his PET.

An e-mail popped up on Lan’s PET.

“You’re next… Signed, Chill Penguin.” Lan read, “I’ve got to go Mayl, I’m sorry.”

CHAPTER 3: Chill Penguin’s Last Stand

Lan bolted out of Mayl’s house it was now ten o’clock. He then jumped over the fence and ran into his house. When he entered his home it was then he realized how late it truly was.

“Mom and dad are already asleep,” he thought, “I’ll have to tell dad first thing in the morning.” Lan crept upstairs to his room and went to sleep.

The next morning at five a.m. Lan was restless. He tossed and turned, throwing sheets all over the room.

“Lan are you dreaming?” Megaman asked. Lan quickly sat up, gasping.

“Megaman you’re alright!” Lan said excitedly.

“Of course I’m okay, Lan what’s going on?” Megaman asked curiously.

“I had a horrible dream,” Lan started, “Another of those strange looking navis had deleted you, for good. He had a red cape, and was bald.

“I’m sure that won’t happen.” Megaman said trying to reassure Lan.

Knowing he couldn’t get to sleep, Lan got out of bed and went downstairs to see if his dad was awake yet. When he got downstairs Lan saw it was still very early in the morning.

“Maybe we should pack for the cruise.” Megaman suggested.

“The cruise! I totally forgot!” Lan said, slapping himself on the forehead. Lan ran to his room and grabbed his backpack. He threw whatever he thought he might need.

Finally, Lan’s dad came to the kitchen. Lan saw him, ran down to greet him and began his story. After the story Lan and his dad traveled to the lab via train. Lan followed his dad into his lab. His dad opened a safe under his desk and took what was inside. Clutching the object, Lan’s dad began to talk.

“What tried to delete Megaman last night, it was a maverick; an evil reploid.” His dad explained.

“A reploid?” Lan said confused.

“A reploid is a robot that can think for themselves and have emotions just like a navi, but here on earth.” His dad continued.

“But, how are they in the net?” Lan kept asking questions.

“They have new programming allowing them to now jack in to the net,” His dad emphasized, “Take this, it’s a program that will allow you and Megaman to join as one without a dimensional area. It will also allow you to use certain signature attacks that navis and mavericks have.” Lan’s dad handed his son a chip similar to his cross fusion chip, but with a green X covering the top. “It’s called the X-upgrade.” His dad finished.

“Awesome!” said Megaman.

“Now let’s go on this cruise.” Lan’s dad said now looking all excited.

When Lan’s family got to the boarding dock they were given a room number.

“94, 95, 96, ah, here it is, room #97.” Lan’s mom said happily. They entered the room. Lan gasped in awe, seeing it was similar to his room, but was just a bit bigger.

“I’m going to surf the boat’s computer.” Lan said.

“Okay, Lan.” His mom said.

After a couple hors of surfing the net, a voice came on the boat’s intercom.

“This is your Captain speaking, I have just been informed that the engine has been frozen and is being destroyed.” The captain said.

“Megaman find that computer!” Lan ordered.

Megaman ran around the net searching for a bit, then he saw it, the engine computer enclosed in solid ice. He glanced to the left, and there he was, Chill Penguin. Megaman started to walk towards him cautiously.

“Elecsword, battlechip in, download.” Lan said.

“You won’t beat me with that chip,” Chill Penguin turned around laughing, “Shotgun Ice!” A blue gas formed a ball in his hand, he held out his hand and three icesicles shot out at Megaman. Using his sword Megaman cut them in half, Chill Penguin then raised his arms and snow began to fall, and the ground turned to ice. Megaman charged towards the fat maverick, Chill Penguin jumped forwards and slid towards Megaman, beak first. At the last second, Megaman jumped up and flipped forwards slicing Chill Penguin with the elecsword.

“Done.” Megaman said.

“Not yet.” The maverick said.

“What?!” Megaman exclaimed. Megaman turned around to see Chill Penguin with only a minor cut.

“But aqua is weak against electric attacks.” Lan complained.

“All of his attacks are based around ice, so what would get rid of ice.” Megaman explained.

“Got it,” Lan said, “Geddon 2, battlechip in, download! Salamander, battlechip in, download!

“Shotgun Ice!” Chill Penguin yelled.

“Rock Buster!” Megaman yelled. His arm then turned into his buster and he fired five quick shots, destroying the icesicles. “Geddon 2!” Megaman yelled, slamming his fist on the ground. The ground then shattered except where the two combatants stood. “Salamander!” Megaman shouted. Megaman’s fists began to glow a bright red. A fire of tower then screamed straight towards Chill Penguin. It was a direct hit. Chill Penguin then squealed in agony. All the ice surrounding the engine’s computer then disappeared.

“Good job, Megaman,” Lan said congratulating him, “Jack out, Megaman!”

“So, he got rid of Chill Penguin.” Said a deep and evil voice.

“Master, I am ready.” Said another voice.

“You know what to do?” the deep voice asked.

The other voice answered, “Delete, Megaman X.”

No, i'm not going to post it on FFnet, at least I have made no plans of that so far. The next chapter will be up tomorrow. I'd like some feedback on it so I can make it better for you: the readers.

I've changed chapters 2 and 3 to what I orginally had. Sorry, for that mix up. Here's chapter 4.

Chapter 4: A cyber storm

Lan had just jacked out Megaman when the voice on the intercom thanked the person who got rid of the ice.

"Lan!" Mrs. Hikari called.

"What?" Lan replied, annoyed.

"It's time to go to the resturant for dinner." she said.

"Okay." Lan said while getting out of his chair.

The family walked down their hallway and hooked a left to the main dining room. The walls were an off-white with red curtains. The ceiling was shaped like a rotunda.

"Whoa," said Lan, "This is pretty fancy."

"Don't worry," replied Dr. Hikari, "It's pretty casual."

After finishing his curry, Lan sat at the table waitingimpatiently for his parents to finish eating and talking.

"Lan, isn't that Sean and Chaud?" Megaman asked.

"Yeah, but who's that with them?" Lan replied.

"I don't know." Megaman answered. Lan got up and walked to their table.

"Hey guys." Lan said. They all turned and looked at Lan.

"Lan," Sean said, "I didn't know you were here."

"I'm here on vacation." Lan pointed to his parents.

"What room are you in?" Chaud asked.

"Room #97." Lan answered.

"I'm in #87," Sean said, "Chaud's in #80, and Ryan, my cousin, is in #92."

"We should to get together and chat," Lan suggested, "Megaman only knows Protoman."

"That's a good idea." Sean agreed.

"How about eight o'clock." Chaud said.

"Maybe a couple of netbattles." Ryan added.

"You're on." Lan said smiling.

At eight, only Sean was there, as Chaud and Ryan were running late.

"How about a netbattle while we're waiting?" Sean said.

"Sure," Lan said, "Jack in, Megaman, execute!"

"Jack in, Zero, execute!" Sean said.

A stream of red and blue light came down and formed the two navis. The words "BATTLE START" appeared in front of them.

"So this is Sean's navi." Megaman thought.

Zero had a red upper body with jagged shoulder blades and relativly short arms. His helmet was blue on the top, and pointing upwards on the sides. His face was a grayish color and his eyes were glowing yellow.

"Rockbuster!" Lan yelled. Megaman's arm turned in to a round cylinderacal shape.

"Z-Sabre!" Sean yelled. A green, glowing sword appeared in Zero's right hand. Megaman shot a few shots at Zero, who dodged them easily and charged at Megaman.

"So that's how were going to play," Lan said, "Anti-sword, battlechip in, download! Aquasword, battlechip in, download!" The blue sword appeared on Megaman's hand, replacing his buster. Zero's sabre quickly disappeared hand.

"Let's finsh this," Sean said grinning, "Elec Gospel, battlechip in, download!"
Zero's left hand turned into a Gospel head.

"Crap," Lan said, "Anti-damage, battlechip in, download!" Gospel's mouth shone a bright yellow, and fired a large beam at Megaman. Zero chuckled, he glanced down and saw a Megaman doll, he then looked up and saw three shurikens coming for him. With no time to dodge them, he took all three of them.

"Zero's new, so he doesn't have a lot of HP," Sean explained, "Zero, jack out."

Back on the net, Megaman X was about to Jack out when he got hit by a tornado. A man with an eagle's head and wings was attacking him.

"Aaaaaaaaargh!" Megaman screamed in pain.

"It's Storm Eagle," Sean said, "A wind Maverick. Use electric attacks." Lan looked at Sean suspiciously.

"Just do it before Megaman gets deleted." Sean advised as Megaman took a beating.

"Alright," Lan said, "Style change! Elec team!" Megaman turned to a yellow color and his helmet and fists changed. "Flashman V3, megachip in, download!" Lan yelled. Flashman appeared in front of Megaman and shot a flash of energy at Storm Eagle. He was paralyzed in mid-air. "Bolt, megachip in, download!" Lan said. Megaman clenched his fists, electricity ran through his body and shot a lightning bolt at Storm Eagle. Storm Eagle then exploded.

"What's this?" Lan said looking at his PET. "Megaman obtained Storm Tornado." The PET said.

"Good show." a voice said. Two navis appeared from the shadows. Protoman was on the left, but the other navi was one Megaman didn't recognize. He was a mix of Megaman and Quickman. His upper body was like Quickman, but his bottom half Megaman. He also had a buster, and was white, yellow, and blue. "I'm Plasmaman, Ryan's navi."

"I'm Megaman, Lan's navi."

"He is much stronger than I anticipated," said the evil man, "Wheel Gator, take care of him."

"Yes, master." Wheel Gator responded.

END CHAPTER 4

Chapter 5: High-Powered Battles

After defeating Storm Eagle, Lan talked to his friends until they had to go. Ryan still had some time on his hands so he and Lan decided to netbattle.

“Jack in, Megaman, execute!” Lan said plugging his PET into the jack.

“Jack in, Plasmaman, execute!” Ryan said doing the same thing. Megaman was already in the net when he saw the stream of orange light come down. When the battle started Lan quickly slotted in 3 three spreader chips. “So we’re going to use a lot of program advances.” Ryan said.

“That’s right,” Lan replied, “Hyper Burst!” As Megaman took aim, Ryan quickly slotted in a chip.

“Life Aura!”

“Lan, I need a high powered chip!” Megaman said desperately.

“Slasher, battlechip in, download,” Ryan started, “Custom Sword, battlechip in, download! Variable Sword, battlechip in, download! Protoman, megachip in, download!”

“Got it!” said Lan slotting in a chip.

“Program advance,” Ryan and Plasmaman said together, “2xHero!”

“Guardian, megachip in, download! Lan grinned. Megaman put his hands together in front of him; a gray statue formed where his hands were. Plasmaman unleashed his attack towards Megaman, but the statue absorbed all of the attack. The statue began to glow, then a bolt of energy shot down at Plasmaman causing his aura to fall. “Let’s finish this!” Lan told Megaman.

“Right!” Megaman agreed.

Lan started slotting chips in, “Zapring 3, battlechip in, download! Stepsword, battlechip in, download! Herosword, megachip in, download! Stepcross, battlechip in download!”

Plasmaman’s arm soon morphed into his buster, “Plasma gun!” Megaman easily dodged his shots; it was now his turn. Megaman shot the zapring at his rival, paralyzing him.

“Program advance! Evilcut!” Lan said with Megaman. Megaman then slashed Plasmaman many times, when he had no time to dodge them.

“Plasmaman, jack out!” Ryan said pressing the button on his PET.

Lan’s chip slot started to glow; all his chips popped out including a new one. “Alright, a Plasmaman chip!” Lan said excitedly.

At Sean’s room, Dr. Hikari was there explaining some things to Sean, “A young colleague of mine, Dr. Light, had a dream where mavericks ruled the world. They destroyed cities and all within them. Only two good reploids were fighting the mavericks. Megaman and Zero. After his dream, Dr. Light ran tests through a computer to find a Megaman and a Zero. When he found out these were netnavis he created two programs for them. The X program and the Zero program he called them. Lan and Megaman have one program. The other is yours”

“What does it do?” Sean asked.

“It will give Zero new blade techniques when mavericks are defeated. It will also allow you to go into cross fusion with Zero without a dimensional area.” Dr. Hikari answered the question. The phone than rang. “Hello?” Dr. Hikari picked it up.

“Dr. Hikari,” said Ryan in a scared voice, “Tell Sean to get over to your room, Megaman needs help.”

Overhearing this, Sean ran out the door and into Lan’s room and quickly jacked Zero in. Sean could then see Wheel Gator, a green and orange alligator who stood upright, had circular, spiked shoulders, and a long spiky tail. Wheel Gator was shooting spinning, bladed wheels along the ground, aiming at Megaman. Megaman was dodging them fine, but couldn’t get any attacks in.

“Elecblade, battlechip in, download!” Sean said, ready to battle.

“No!” cried Lan.

“Now it’s personal,” Sean said angrily, “Guardian, megachip in download! Antidamage, battlechip in, download! Z-sabre!” A saber formed in Zero’s right hand; with his left he formed a statue in front of him. At this moment Lan ran out of the room to find his dad, so he could restore Megaman’s data. One of Wheel Gator’s wheels hit the guardian, which sent it’s bolt of energy on to the maverick. Angered, Wheel Gator shot five wheels straight at Zero. A Zero doll then dropped as soon as he got hit. From above he threw three shurikens towards Wheel Gator’s head. While he was stunned, Zero jumped in front of him and slashed furiously with his sabre.

Wheel gator exploded into bits. On Sean’s PET it read, “New Weapon: Razor’s Edge.” When Megaman was back, Lan’s PET read, “New Weapon: Spin Wheel.”

After Lan got back, him and Sean wanted to find out how their new techniques worked. Lan quickly transferred weapon data for Chill Penguin and Storm Eagle to Sean’s PET.
They both jacked their navis in. Megaman and Zero walked around the net until they found a swarm of mettaur viruses. They rapidly started their assault on the viruses.

“Shotgun ice!” Megaman yelled. He charged his buster an shot out icesicles that traveled across the ground.

“Ice cutter!” Zero yelled. He sliced his sabre; a wave of ice shot towards the viruses in the shape of a sword. Four of the sixteen viruses were gone.

“Storm Tornado!” Megaman said loudly. Megaman again charged his buster, a Tornado flew forwards, spinning.

“Wind sabre!” Zero announced. He charged to the viruses, and hit two of them. A burst of air blew the viruses back before they were deleted.

“Spin wheel!” Megaman said. “He pulled a blade out of nowhere ,and threw it at a virus. The blade hit dead on, cutting the mettaur in half.

“Razor’s edge!” Zero yelled. A titanium blade appeared in his hand. It looked like muramasa, but with spikes along the edge. Zero jumped at the final three viruses slashing at them.

“These will come in handy!” Megaman said as the viruses were deleted.

“Right,” Lan said, “Jack out, Megaman!”

“Zero, Jack out!” Sean followed.

“I hope you will not fail me.” Said the evil man.

“I will delete Megaman, for good.” Said a horned creature.

When the horned creature left a door on the other side of the room opened.

“Vile, follow him. Make sure his job gets done.” The evil man ordered.

“Yes, sir!” Vile replied.

Chapter 6: X-Fusion!

"Lan! Lan! It's time to get up!" Megaman called out.

"What time is it?" Lan responded.

"Roughly, it's ten o'clock."

"Thanks, Megaman."

"No problem."

Lan stayed in his bed, staring at the ceiling for a little while. As he did this he was thinking of how he had been having dreams of Megaman getting deleted by a navi that appeared covered by darkness, but had an evil precense with him. Eventually, Lan got up, got ready for the day, and began walking slowly to the dining room.

When Lan sat down a waiter came and greeted him, "Do you want a drink?"

"Yes, please," Lan started, "I'll have an orange juice."

"I'll be right back with your drink."

As he waited, Lan began to wonder why he was having these dreams, but before he could come up with any possible solutions the waiter came back to his table.

"Here you are," the waiter said as he placed the glass of juice on the table,
"Have you decided on what to eat?"

"Yeah, I'll have the pancakes, with bacon, and eggs." Lan answered.

"Okay." The waiter said as he walked towards the kitchen.

Lan started to sip his juice as Sean sat down.

"Hey Lan."

"Hey Sean."

"Is Megaman, going to be okay?"

"Yeah, he'll be fine. I just don't want to see him take another beating."

"I'll watch out for him." Zero jumped into the conversation.

"Thanks guys." Lan said smiling.

After Lan and Sean finished their breakfast, Sean got Zero to pay to advoid any attacks. The next three days, Lan avoided jacking Megaman into the net. Instead, Sean, Ryan, Chaud, and him started to go to the pool and play some tennis.

In the boiler room, a relatively large creature whith horns on his head and shoulders was pacing. Suddenly a large screen lit up, and a man that was hidden in the shadows appeared on the screen.

"Master, he's avoiding the net at all costs." said the creature.

"You fool! Attack him outside of the net then!" said the man.

"Yes, Master." the creature replied as the screen shut off.

At the man in the shadows's lair, a different screen came on.

"Vile," the man said, "Follow him."

"Your wish is my command." Vile responded.

"Good." The man said as he shut off the screen.

The four friends were playing tennis at the time this was happening. Lan and Chaud just needed one more point to beat Sean and Ryan.

"The final serve." commented Lan, as he threw the ball into the air. Suddenly, the ground shook vigorously.

"What was that?" Sean asked.

"Something's not right." Chaud pointed out.

Out of nowhere, a maverick who looked like a rhino burst from the ground and began to speak, "Lan Hikari, is it not?" the maverick looked at Lan.

"What do you want?" Lan said angrily.

"You and your navi, dead."

"Never."

"Fine, I, Tunnel Rhino will crush you anyway." Tunnel Rhino charged straight for Lan, but Lan jumped out of the way. At the same time, Lan and Sean grabbed a bunch of chips and slotted them in. Then as Tunnel Rhino spun around, they both began to slot in their last chip.

"Let's do this together Hub. X-Fusion, Synchro chip slot in, download." Lan exclaimed.

"Us too Zero. Z-Fusion, Synchro chip slot in, download." Sean said.

Lan and Sean's P.E.Ts began to shine. A blinding light covered Sean and Lan. Then Megaman and Zero walked out from within the light.

"Let's do this!" X said.

"Right!" Replied Zero.

Tunnel Rhino started to laugh. "You can't hurt me!"

"Oh, we'll find a way," Zero said, "Z-Sabre!"

"X-buster!"

Both X and Zero began to use their weapons. All of X's shots just bounced off the armor of Tunnel Rhino. Zero's sabre did nothing to the armor either.

"My turn." Tunnel Rhino charged at the two "navis".

As the maverick charged, X and Zero leapt up into the air. X did a 180 and began to fire buster shots at the maverick hitting him in the back.

"Arrgh!" Tunnel Rhino cried out.

"Hit the back!" Zero yelled.

Tunnel rhino turned so his back faced a wall, and he began to shoot drills at X and Zero.

"Easy," Zero chuckled, "Lance!"

A lance shot out of the wall impaling Tunnel Rhino.

"I have failed." He gasped.

"That was too easy." Zero said.

Suddenly, a blast of energy hit a foot away from Zero. X, Zero, Chaud and Ryan looked up to see a small humanoid figure. He had a helmet with a black T- shaped visor on it. He also packed a cannon on his left shoulder. All his body armor was tinted purple.

"This guy wants to take us on now." X said sarcasticly. X's eyes widened as the humanoid began to get taller. When he became completely visible they saw he was in a robot carrier. The carrier was a body with no head. Its hands and toes were replaced by sharp spikes, and it stood 7 feet tall.

"Crap" X said gazing.

"Let me introduce myself, my name is Vile. Lord Sigma has sent me to finish what Tunnel Rhino could not accomplish."

Suddenly, Vile jumped down at X in a punching motion. X and Zero backed away from his attacks.

"Bamboo sword, Elec Sword." X said as a green sword appeared on his left hand and a yellow one in his right.

"Fire blade." Zero said. A sharper sword, which glowed red was on Zero's right.

Vile began to shoot at the "navis" with his cannon. Zero dashed left; X, right. X then jumped over the carrier slicing its arms off. Zero dashing straight to the carrier cut it's feet off. This caused the carrier to fall and left a cloud of dust. Vile scurried away as the dust settled.

"I have a feeling that's not the last of him." Chaud said.

Sean and Lan came out of the fusion, gasping. "I think... you're... right."Sean gasped.

Ch. 7: Lan’s new love

“So do you think you can complete this task?” Sigma asked.

“Yes, Lord Sigma.” Tami said.

“You must do this before Lan & Megaman destroy us all.” Sigma ordered.

“I will do as I am told.” Tami replied.


“Lan! Lan!” called Ryan.

“Hey Ryan.” Lan replied.

“Look at this!” Ryan said excitedly, handing Lan a poster.

“N-1 Grand Prix Preliminaries.” Lan read the poster.

“Yeah, I missed out last year, so I can’t wait.” Ryan said.

“Prelims? You mean like auditions?” Lan asked.

“Sorta. Now so many people want to enter that you have to prove yourself worthy.” Ryan explained.

“That’s fine. I’ll come up with a strategy to make sure I make it.” Lan said in a cocky voice.

“Except you get random folders given to you.” Ryan said.

“What!?” Lan shouted.

“Hey! We should get some practice before tomorrow.” Ryan suggested.

“Your on,” Lan answered, “Jack in, Megaman, execute!”

“Jack in, Plasmaman, execute!” Ryan followed.

The two navis streamed down in two beams of light, then across the ground flashed “Battle Start”

“Megabuster!” Lan yelled. Megaman shot many buster shots all around Plasmaman.

“Areasteal, battlechip in, download!” Ryan slotted in two chips.

“Don’t worry, I’ll get you!” Megaman called out.

“Elecblade, battlechip in, download!” Lan said. A sparkling blade appeared in place of Megaman’s right hand. Megaman turned around and slashed Plasmaman through his body. Three slashes came at Megaman knocking him back.

“Good play,” Lan said, “But not good enough! Muramasa, Megachip in, download.”

“Invis, battlechip in, download!” Ryan grinned.

“Where’d he go? Megaman looked around confused.

“Your funeral,” Ryan said as he slotted in three chips, “Program Advance! Evil Cut!”

Soon, Megaman had three slice marks on his body.

“Megaman, Jack out!” Lan said. “You’ve improved.”

“You better watch out for me in those prelims.” Ryan said.

“I will. See you tomorrow at the prelims.” Lan said.

“Welcome to Zone II of the N-1 Prelims! I’m the announcer for the show, Ribita! We’ll start of quickly with our first match, Tami Roberts and Boomman versus Jack Cairns and Tankman.”

“Jack in, Boomman, download.”

“Jack in, Tankman, download.”

A stream of grey light came in to the arena, following it came a army green light.

BATTLE START

“Tankman! Rocket launch!” Jack ordered.

“Yes, sir!” replied the armored navi.

“Boomman! Let’s finish this quickly! Radiation Bomb!” Tami said. A small sphere with blinking lights appeared before Tankman.

“What’s this weak attack!” Tankman chuckled. Suddenly, the sphere exploded, cutting off a visual of the arena. In a couple seconds the screen turned back on. Boomman was there, but there was also a large crater where Tankman stood.

Lan sat there with his mouth hanging open. “D- did I just see that?” Lan asked.

“You saw it too?” Sean said staring. The whole arena just stared in silence.

“Boomman, Jack out!” Tami said.

“And with that Tami moves on to face the winner of Cloud McKnight and Dreamman versus Ross Crowe and Hawkman.

Lan glanced over to see Tami leaving. He got up and followed her.

“Hey! Wait up!” Lan called.

“What?” Tami said turning around.

“You got a powerful navi there.”

“Yeah, Boomman’s great.”

“I can’t wait to battle you.”

“I look forward to it, Lan.”

“How’d you know my name?”

“I saw you on the N-1 last year.”

“Oh,” Lan said, “Tami?”

“Yeah?”

“You want to go to dinner with me tomorrow?”

“I’d love to.”

Chapter 8: Megaman vs. Scytheman

Lan was still standing where he and Tami were talking. Smiling, he just stood there with his head tilted to the right. He just stood there thinking about her.

“Lan! Your up next!” Ryan said as he came out from the arena. “Lan?”

“What?” Lan said snapping out of his trance.

“Your match is next… What were you doing?” Ryan asked.

“I just asked Tami out on a date.” Lan explained.

“You mean the hot brunette, whose navi just obliterated Tankman?” Ryan said.

“Yeah.” Lan said smiling.

“Isn’t that a little fast to be in a relationship?” Ryan asked.

“Usually,” Lan said thinking, “But there’s something about her. It seemed like she already knew me.”

“Anyway, you got a match against Tony Cutter.”

“Okay. I’m coming.”


“Here’s the last match of the day. Lan Hikari and Megaman versus Tony Cutter and Scytheman.

“Jack in, Megaman, execute!”

“Jack in, Scytheman, execute!”

The two navis bolted down in streams of blue and green. Scytheman was a tall, green navi who had horns curving out the back of his head. Instead of forearms he had a scythe on either side. His legs were scaly, and where his knee joint bent backwards instead of forwards. On his feet he had three toes with claw on each toe.

“Let’s do this Megaman!”

“Go, Scytheman! Grass Cutter!” Tony ordered.

Scytheman threw his right scythe straight at Megaman, but Megaman dodged it, and the scythe returned to Scytheman’s arm.

“Looks like this should be a good battle.” Megaman called out to the green navi, “I guess he doesn’t talk.”

“Scytheman resumed to attack Megaman. He began to charge at Megaman, and then leapt into the air.

“Megaman, Areasteal battlechip, download!” Lan slotted in the chip.

Megaman vanished as Scytheman brought down is scythe, hitting nothing but air. Confused, Scytheman looked around for his enemy.

“Scytheman, use this! Geddon 2, battlechip in, download!”

Lan quickly slotted in two chips. Scytheman stomped his foot on the ground leaving a giant hole where the ground once was. Megaman appeared a few feet in front of Scytheman on a piece of the ground which wasn’t cracked.Megaman grinned as his hand became engulfed in flames. His hand transformed into a fiery, orange sword. He began to run over the holes in the ground.

“What?” Tony exclaimed.

“I call them airshoes.” Lan grinned.

“Two can play at that game. Scytheman now!”

A pair of wings popped from Scytheman’s back, then he jumped up and began to fly over Megaman.

“Shit!” Lan said, “Fine, Megabuster!”

“Megabuster!” Megaman said.

“Treebomb 3, battlechip in, quintuple download!” Tony said.

Megaman shot down each treebomb as they came down. While he was busy shooting the treebombs, Scytheman rushed behind him, and sliced his left arm off.

“Aargh!” Megaman screamed.

“Megaman! No!” Lan yelled as he slotted in a chip.

“Finish him off!” Tony said.

Scytheman raised his right scythe, but as he brought it down a barrier formed around Megaman, blocking the blow. At that moment, the style change symbol appeared on Lan’s screen.
“Huh? A style change?” Lan said.

“Activate it!” Megaman screamed, desperately trying to dodge Scytheman’s attacks.

“Activate style change: Aqua Custom!” Lan said.

Golden rings surrounded Megaman as his body changed. His body color became a light blue. His hands and feet got extra patches. Also, his back now carried what resembles to a backpack with four energy tubes sticking out.

“Let’s do this!” Megaman said.

“Right! Muramasa, megachip in, download!” Lan said.

“Where’s my sword?” Megaman yelled still dodging Scytheman’s attacks.

“It’s Custom style! Program Advance!” Lan said.

“Program Advance: Body Guard!” Lan and Megaman said together.

Suddenly, one after another, fifteen shurikens rained down on Scyhteman.

“How is he not logging out? Fireblade, battlechip in, download!”

When Scytheman was stunned from the shurikens, Megaman slashed Scytheman through the torso.

“Scytheman! Log out!” Tony said.

“And the winners are Lan and Megaman.” Ribbita announced.

“Good match, kid!” Tony told Lan.

“Thanks.” Lan replied.

Chapter 9: Lan’s discovery

“Lan that was awesome!” Sean said.

“Yeah, great match!” Ryan said.

“Good job” Chaud agreed.

“Thanks you guys, but I got to go get ready for my date.”

Meanwhile, Tami was getting ready. “I wonder what I should wear tonight?” she said to her self. Suddenly, the phone rang. “Hello?”

“Take him out tonight, or else.”

“Yes, Lord Sigma.” Tami said, as she hung up. “I guess black is suitable.”


“So where are you taking Tami tonight?” Megaman asked.

“I don’t know, maybe the movies?” Lan replied.

“At the big theater complex on the second deck?” Megaman asked again.

“Yeah, were probably going to dinner after too.”

“That’s good.”

“Well, we better get going.”

“We?”

“Just in case.”

Lan walked out of his room and locked the door. He started on his way out, trying to remember which way to go.

“Um. Megaman?”

“Room number 013.” Megaman replied.

“Thirteen?”

“Are you superstitious, Lan?”

“No.”

“Okay.”

“Hi Tami.”

“Hi Lan.”

“You look great!”

“I want to see Megaman in action. I saw him fight in the N-1 and I want to see how Boomman fairs against him.” Tami explained.

Lan and Tami then went to the movie theater where they discussed for ten minutes on which movie to see, Finally, they picked to see, Batman Begins.


“That was awesome!” Lan said.

“Yeah,” Tami said thinking about what she had to do, “You owe me a netbattle.”

“That I do.”

Tami and Lan walked over to the Netbattle Dome, holding hands. Tami then looked at Lan worried, Lan looked at her and smiled; Tami smiled back.

“Ready Tami?” Lan asked.

“More than ever.” She replied.

“Jack in, Megaman, execute!”
“Jack in, Boomman, execute!”

“Okay. Megaman let’s do this! Bamboosword, battlechip in, download.”

“Boomman, Lil’ bomb!”

Boomman threw about five bombs at Megaman. Megaman dodged each one, still running towards Boomman.

“Invis, battlechip in, download! ShadowCombustion, battlechip in, download!” Tami said slotting in two chips.

Boomman disappeared without a trace. Megaman turned around looking frantically for his opponent.

“ShadowCombustion!” Boomman saidin a deep voice.

“No!” Lan yelled, as a mild explosion engulfed Megaman in flames.

“Radiationbomb, megachip in, download!” Tami said.

“Barrier, battlechip in, dowload!” Lan countered.

Boomman then threw the titanium covered sphere, which had a line of light that began to blink faster and faster. The tiny sphere then blew up in a huge explosion. Megaman walked out of the smoke without a scratch.

“Okay! Fusion bomb, Gigachip in, download!”

“New strategy!” Lan said slotting in a chip.

Boomman shot out two enlarged hydrogen particles, which landed, side-by-side. The two particles then fused into a helium particle. Suddenly, the particle flashed a brilliant light and exploded.

When the smoke cleared, Megaman laid there on his back with battle scars all over his body. Megaman opened his eyes, blinking, he sat up. Using his arms, he got up on to his feet.

“Alright Megaman! Areasteal, battlechip in, dowmload. Muramasa, megachip in, download!” Lan smiled.

“Muramasa!” Megaman said. The steel-bladed sword appeared in his hand. He slashed the air taunting his opponent. Boomman angrily fired off several bombs directly at Megaman.

“Boomman! What are you doing?!” Tami pleaded.

A window opened on Tami’s P.E.T screen, displaying a video message.

“I installed a program into Boomman to delete Megaman at all costs.” Sigma said, “Then you can go kill him.”

“Never!” Tami yelled back.

“Then, there will be severe consequences.” Sigma replied frowning as the window shut.

As this happened, Megaman dodged Boomman’s arsenal of bombs with an areasteal. Boomman was looking for Megaman, shooting bombs in every direction.

“Hey Boomy! Above you!” Megaman said as he fell right in front of Boomman, with the Muramasa gripped in both hands, held out in front of him. There was a cut right down the center of Boomman, as he was deleted.

Tami quickly unplugged her P.E.T and ran from the arena. Lan also logged out Megman, and followed her out of the arena. He searched all over the boat for her. Finally, when he took a second look in her room. Lan found Tami crying in a corner.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Is it because, Megaman and I deleted Boomman?” Lan asked.

“No”

“Then, what is it?”

“It’s that… that I couldn’t control Boomman when he tried to delete Megaman.

“Yeah, I noticed that. Who were you talking to?”

“Sigma.”

“Sigma? You mean the guy who’s been trying to delete Megaman and kill me.”

“Yes, but I wasn’t going to...”

“Yeah?” Lan yelled in anger, “How am I supposed to know that you aren’t going to kill me?

Tami began to cry, “Lan…”

“No! I’ve heard enough of this!” Lan yelled as he started towards the door.

“Because, I love you.” Tami said crying.

“What?” Lan replied, still angry.

“I won’t kill you , because I love you.”

Lan was silent. He looked at Tami, and shook his head, “Sorry, Tami. I can’t.” Then he left.

“I love you…” Tami whispered as Lan slammed the door.”

“So, what can you do for us?” Sigma asked.

“I’ll shock Megaman into deletion!” A fat, light blue, fish with whiskers said.

“Good. Vile will take care of the girl. You take care of Megaman and his operator. Also, take care of his three friends.


“Lan.” Chaud greeted.

“Hey Chaud.” Lan replied.

“Something the matter?”

“You know Tami, right?”

“Yes.”

“Well, apparently she’s working for a Net Terrorist.”

“Maybe I should go question her for some details.”

“Go ahead. Her room number is 013.”

“Okay. I’ll see you later.”

“Yeah. Bye.”

“Tami?” Chaud said, “Tami?”

Chaud started looking around Tami’s room for clues. After a couple minutes he found her P.E.T. Looking around still he picked it up.

“Boomman! Where’s Tami?” Chaud asked.

“He took her.” Boomman responded slowly.

“Who did?” He enquired.

“Vile.”

“DAMNIT!”

“They wanted to get her before you could question her.” Boomman explained.

“Thanks for your help.”

“No problem.”

Chaud stared at the navi for a second. He put it down on the desk. He turned around to leave. Then, he looked back, picked the P.E.T back up, and left.


“Hey Lan.” Sean said.

“Oh, Hi Sean.”

“You better go get a folder ready.”

“For what?”

“The prelims are down to sixteen. For this round you must construct a folder using only level one chips.” Sean explained.

“Oh. I better go do that. See ya.”

“Bye.”

Lan got up from the table, and walked to the stairs, which led to his room. In a couple minutes. Chaud came sprinting up to the table.

“Where’s… Lan?” He gasped.

“He left to prepare for his netbattle.” Sean said, “Why?”

“Tami’s missing.”

“What?”

“Yeah. I could only find her P.E.T.” Chaud said as he held the P.E.T up.

“He should be in his room.”

“Thanks.”

Chaud rushed as fast as he could to Lan’s room. He bounded down the stairs 2-by-2. Suddenly, Chaud shook and fell to the ground, unconscious.

“One down, three to go.” The fat, light blue colored fish said to himself.
ZapRing1s, Cannons…” Lan listed off his chips to himself.

RING RING

“Hello?” Lan answered.

“Hey Lan.” Ryan said.

“Hey Ryan.” Lan replied

“You better hurry to the arena. Your match is first.”

“When’s it start?”

“Ten minutes.”

“Okay. Thanks.”

“See ya.”

“Yeah. See ya.”

Lan got up, off his bed, and packed his chips into his folder. He then walked out the door, and headed up the stairs. As he looked up he saw Chaud lying on the ground.

“Oh my God, Chaud! Chaud, wake up!” Lan yelled.

“Uhhh…” Chaud moaned, “Lan?”

“Yeah, Chaud, it’s me. You okay?”

“Yeah. Just a little dizzy, but I’ll be fine.”

“What happened?”

“I don’t know. All I remember is that, I was coming to talk to you, then I blacked out.”

“You were coming to talk to me?”

“Yeah. Tami’s been kidnapped.”

“Kidnapped?” Lan exclaimed, “By who?”

“Vile.”

“Let’s go to the prelims first. Then, we’ll deal with this.”

“Okay.”

Chapter 11: Default?

Ribbita was in the broadcast booth ready to start the prelims of the N-1. As she turned on the microphone, an irritating screech filled the room. Everyone in the arena covered their ears, in agony. After the screech came to a stop, Ribbita’s voice boomed throughout the arena.

“Welcome everyone, to the N-1 Grand Prix: Prix-liminaries! Our eight matches for today are, Lan and Megaman versus Tami and Boomman!” Ribbita started.

“Oh, great! Lan thought to himself.

“Sean and Zero versus Jason and Pyroman, Chaud and Protoman versus Ross and Hawkman, Cloud and Dreamman versus Xavier and Morphman, Joe and Frostman versus Kim and Fogman, Cory and Blademan versus Matt and Jungleman, Ryan and Plasmaman versus Sunny and Lightman, and finally, Bill and Circuitman versus Jennifer and Aeroman.” Ribbita finished.

“Sounds like some good netbattlers are in the final 16.” Sean said.

“Too… many… names…” Lan joked.

“Well, Lan let’s just hope you can beat Tami.” Ryan said. Chaud looked over at Ryan, remembering that Tami was missing.

“Don’t worry about me.” Lan said, “Let’s go Megaman!”

“Right!” Megaman agreed.

Lan slowly moseyed his way down the stairs from his seat to the netbattle terminal. While he walked, he looked around for his opponent walking to the terminal.

“Who are you looking for?” Megaman asked.

“Tami.” Lan answered.

“I thought Chaud said she was kidnapped.”

“I know, I was just hoping,” Lan muttered, “Then, who am I going to fight?”

“I guess we get a win by default. We’re going to the N-1.” Megaman said.

“That sucks. I wanted to fight someone.” Lan whined.

“Oh well.” Megaman smiled.

Lan stopped in front of the terminal, and took one final glance around the arena. He then jacked Megaman into the battle, so he would not be disqualified. He looked across from his side of the terminal to the empty side. He turned his head, and looked down the four hallways, containing entrances. In each hallway, he found nothing, but shadows.

“Since the opposing combatant is not here, I’ll have to award the victory to Lan and Megaman!” Ribbita announced.

The crowd started to “boo” over the fact there was no battle.

“We want to see Megaman battle!” An angry fan yelled.

“You want a battle? I’ll give you one.” An unfamiliar voice, which came from the speakers attached to the projection for the battle, said.

“Who’s there?” Megaman asked.

“Your last opponent.”

“Show yourself!” Megaman demanded.

The fat, light blue fish stepped out of the darkness revealing himself to everyone.

“My name is Volt Catfish, and I am here to delete Megaman!” He exclaimed.

“Since this isn’t part of the N-1, there will be no folder restrictions!” Ribbita said.

“Lan, do you have an extra folder?” Megaman asked.

“Always.” Lan said, “GrassStage, battlechip in, download! Spice3, battlechip in, download!”

“GrassStage!” Megaman said. The battlefield turned a dark green as the grass appeared.

“Lightning!” Volt Catfish yelled. A streak of white light came down towards Megaman and sparked upon the ground.

“That was close” Megaman said as he barely dodged the assult.

“Spice3!” Megaman said as a Moshy appeared in front of him. The Moshy then shot out a bunch of spores, spreading throughout the grass. The spores made contact with Volt Catfish, confusing him.

“Now Megaman!” Bamboosword, battlechip in, download!” Lan said.

Megaman ran at Volt Catfish, with his sword armed and ready. As soon as he leapt into the air, to come down on his enemy with the blade, he got hit by an extreme amount of energy, produced by a bolt.

“Aargh!” Megaman writhed in pain.

“Triad Thunder!” Volt Catfish raised his two, small, fins in the air. As he did this, three bolts of lightning rained down upon Megaman. Each one hitting him, dead on.

“Megaman!” Lan yelled in disbelief. Suddenly, the style change symbol appeared on Lan’s P.E.T screen. “Huh? A style change! Hold on, Megaman! Help is on the way! Activate style change: Wood Shield!”

The style change rings appeared around Megaman and began to revolve around him. Megaman’s body suit turned a light green. He now carried a light yellow shield in his right hand. His shoulder armor was also upgraded.

“What’s this?” Volt Catfish wondered.

“Your worst nightmare.” Megaman grinned, “Lan now!”

“Gaiablade, megachip in, download! No beam3, battlechip in, double download!” Lan slotted in his chips.

“Energy Flow!” Volt Catfish said. The maverick took a small hop. When he landed, his body produced, and sent out a wave of energy across the battlefield, going at an unbearable speed, towards Megaman.

“Aaaaaaaaaah!” Megaman screamed, as he ran from the attack. Megaman turned towards a cliff, and sprinted faster. Volt Catfish ran behind, so he could finish him off.

Megaman reached the cliff before the wave of energy could hit him. He ran two steps up the cliff, and jumped off doing a back flip. He landed in a crouched position behind Volt Catfish. He then took his sword, and went to impale Volt Catfish, but the maverick had already logged out to protect himself.

“Well I think Megaman wins!” Stay tuned for Sean and Zero versus Jason and Pyroman!”

CHAPTER 12: Enter Pyroman

“Backdraft!” Pyroman said. A burst of flames came from behind Zero engulfing him.

“Aaaah!” Zero yelled.

Sean and Zero were in their battle against Jason and Pyroman; as soon as they had started to battle they were having difficulties.

“Okay, Pyroman! Let’s finish this! Rocketboost!” Jason commanded.

“Zero, use this!” Sean said, “Bubbler, battlechips in, triple download! Program Advance Bubble Spread!”

“Rocketboost!” Pyroman’s flames grew larger and larger. Suddenly, he dashed at Zero at an alarming speed. His arms, which had flames on the end, were held behind him leaving a wave of fire behind him; also coming towards Zero.

“Bubble Spread!” Zero said. He lifted up his buster, and aimed carefully. He then shot the blast of water at the charging Pyroman. Zero’s attack was a direct hit, forcing Pyroman to log out.

“And with that Sean and Zero are going to the N-1!” Ribbita announced.

“Good match!” Sean called to Jason.

“Same to you.” Jason replied.

“You should hang out with us sometime.”

“Sounds good.”

“Hey Sean!” Lan called as he ran down the steps, “Great match!”

“Thanks Lan!” Sean said.

“I’m going to go search for Vile. You want to come?” Lan asked.

“Sure,” Sean said, “Jason you want to come with us?”

“Alright.” Jason answered.

The three netbattlers ran to the ship’s central computer, which was connected to all the different computers in the ship. The three, then jacked their navis into the net.
“Jack in, Megaman, Zero, Pyroman, execute!” they all said together.

“Let’s split up,” Zero suggested, “Then when we find Vile we’ll signal each other to come.”

“Okay, let’s do this.” Megaman said.

The three navis all headed in a different direction. Megaman ran through a portal leading him to the ship’s power source. He turned his arm into his buster, and began to search the room.

Megaman found himself in a maze of generators, equipment, wires, and poles. He carefully crept across the room, buster armed, as he searched for Vile. Eventually, he had covered the whole area. He started his way over to a portal into a different room.

Suddenly, an electrified force field appeared, blocking off the portal. The fat maverick, Volt Catfish, dropped down from a tower ready to battle.

Meanwhile, Zero was in the steering controls computer, looking for Vile. He was armed with the Z-Saber. His back was pressed against a wall, as he was about to turn a corner. As he turned the corner, he saw Vile reprogramming the steering controls.

“Found him!” Sean said.

“I’m having a little trouble here.” Lan commented.

Megaman was continuously dodging bolts of lightning caused by Volt Catfish. He was jumping to the side, doing backflips, and rolling under attacks. Basically, anything he could to doge the arsenal of attacks.

“I’ll come help.” Jason said.

“Boomer3, battlechip in, download!” Lan said as he slotted in his chip.

Megaman’s hand took form of a Gloomer. Volt Catfish shot a ball of electricity towards Megaman. Megaman jumped over it, chucking the boomerang in mid-air. The blow hit and stunned the electric maverick.

“Grass stage, batllechip in, download! Oldwood, megachip in, download!” Lan said.

“Don’t think so!” Volt Catfish grinned, “Thinderstorm!”

Dark clouds started appearing over Megaman. Suddenly, chain lightning came down, zapping Megaman. After the attack, Megaman was twitching in pain.

A shining light in the shape of a navi appeared on the portal. As the light died down, Pyroman stepped out. Pyroman is a orange-red navi, with an upside-down triangle, with five flames on top. Instead of hands, he had burning flames at the end of his arms.

“Shit, I’m too late.” Pyroman said. He looked over at Volt Catfish, who stood there laughing. “Okay! That’s it!”

“Huh?” Volt Catfish’s celebration came to a end as he saw Pyroman.

“Backdraft!” Pyroman yelled. A burst of flames came from behind Volt Catfish burning him.

“Pyro…man…” Megaman gasped.

“Megaman, you have to jack out.”

“No. Not until we defeat Volt Catfish.”

“But… you’re hurt.”

“Now I’ll delete you both!” Volt Catfish laughed. Dark storm clouds formed overhead of Megaman and Pyroman.

“Never!” Pyroman yelled. He faced Megaman, to pick him up and run. Suddenly, Megaman’s and Pyroman’s navi symbols began to glow. A barrier of light surrounded Megaman and Pyroman. The barrier blocked the attack. After the lightning stopped Megaman and Pyroman had fused.

Megaman now was all red, had two candles sticking out of the top-back of his helmet. On his wrists, he had a hole on either side, which spewed fire. His feet were now air jets, which acted like airshoes.

“What’s this?” Volt Catfish said.

“Megaman! Rocketboost, now!” Lan ordered.

“Right!” Megaman replied. Flames continually shot out of his wrists. Megaman then charged forward slamming into the maverick, followed by a wave of fire, blanketing it.

“Finish him off! Lance, battlechip in, download!” Lan slotted in a chip.

“Lance!” Megaman said.

Volt Catfish who was just recovering from the previous attack, got impaled by the three bamboo shoots. The maverick then mumbled a few words and imploded, leaving behind a program.
The Pyrosoul disappeared, Megaman grabbed the program and logged out as Lan received the chip data for Pyrosoul. A message suddenly appeared on Lan’s P.E.T screen.

“You received Triad Thunder!” Lan read, “Great.”

“See ya, Lan.” Jason said as he walked away.

“Thanks for the help.”

“No problem.”

Chapter 13: Battle of the souls

“Vile!” Sigma yelled at a screen. The screen began to flicker a picture of the purple navi.

“Yes? Vile responded.

“You must kill Lan now, and destroy Megaman X. They are coming.” Sigma ordered, “I’ll send two mavericks over to aid you.”

“Yes, my Lord.”

“Lan… Lan wake up.” Lan’s mom was tapping Lan on his shoulder trying to wake him.

“Mmnnnn” Lan moaned.

“C’mon Lan! Get up!” Lan’s mom picked up a bucket full of ice cold water. She then dumped the water all over Lan.

Suddenly, Lan’s eyes quickly opened, he screamed as he shot straight up out of his bed. He was clinging on to the light shade on the ceiling; shivering.

“Lan, get dressed. We’re going to see a movie, as this is our last week on the cruise.”

“Okay.” Lan said, “Hey mom?”

“Yes?”

“How come we haven’t stopped anywhere, like on most cruises.”

“We stop tomorrow at the old World 3 base. They turned it into a theme park.” Lan’s mom explained.

“Oh. Okay.”

“Welcome. Has Lord Sigma updated you on the situation?” Vile asked.

“Yes, he has.” A short maverick with gold-plated armor said. He also has shoulder blades, and a steel mask, which was also half gold.

The other maverick is very tall, he’s mostly red, and except for he has blue hands and feet. He has a grey rounded stomach, and what resembles a ring surrounding his head.

“Good. Let’s go.”

“Hilarious!” Lan walked out of the movie theater laughing.

“That was a great movie!” Lan’s dad said.

“It was.” Lan’s mom agreed.

“I’m going to go see what my friends are doing.” Lan said.

“Okay.” His dad replied.

------------LATER-------------

“What do you mean, no?” Lan asked.

“No! No more tennis! I hate it!” Chaud yelled.

“Fine.”

“So, that means only Ryan’s left.” Megaman said.

KNOCK-KNOCK

“Hey, Lan!” Ryan said as he opened the door.

“Hi, Ry. You want to play some tennis?”

“Yeah. Sure.” Ryan grabbed his racket and key, then they left.

----------ONCE AGAIN, LATER------------

“Thanks for the game, Ryan.” Lan said.

“No problem. I had fun.” Ryan said.

“And so will we!” A familiar voice said.

“Not again…”Lan said.

Suddenly, Vile jumped down from a ledge near the outdoor tennis court. He had nothing with him but his arm cannon.

“This will be easy. X-Fusion!” Lan slotted in a bunch of chips, then the X-Fusion chip, causing a barrier of light to surround him. As the light faded, Megaman X stepped out.

“Let’s go!” Vile said. As if on cue the two mavericks also dropped down.

“Who are these guys?” X asked.

“Bit” Vile pointed at the gold one, “and Byte.” He pointed to the tall, red one.

“3-on-1?! Fine. Let’s do this! X-Buster!” X said, summoning the buster to his arm. He then shot several shots at each enemy.

Bit quickly dashed out of the way, Vile barely dodged the plasma shots. Byte stood there, as the attack bounced right off of him.

“Boomer3!” X said. A Gloomer replaced the X-Buster, and X then threw it. The boomerang knock Vile down, then came back and hit Byte in the back.

“Aargh!” Byte cried in pain.

“Got it!” X said, “Fireblade, Aquablade!” Two swords, one red; one blue appeared on the ends of X’s arms.

“Energy disk.” Bit yelled. A speeding disk flew at X. X just jumped out of the way. He then dashed in mid-air towards Bit, slashing vigorously.

Bit zoomed to the other side of the tennis court. X then dashed towards Vile, who began to run, as he ran he looked back at X. Vile, looking over his shoulder, ran into the net, and fell.

X walked up to Vile, raised his weapons and stabbed Vile’s arms off. Vile screamed in horror, and ran off.

“One down; two to go.” X said.

“Charge uppercut!” Byte said. He charged at X, and gave him a jaw-breaking uppercut.

“Homing beam!” Bit said. Two beams of light shot out of his hands and towards Megaman X, hurting him.

“Ive got to help him.” Ryan said, “But how?” He looked around, then he looked at his P.E.T and grinned.

“Now your death, Lan and Megaman.” Bit said, “Megabyte soul!” Bit and Byte began to fade, then they walked into each other, causing rays of light to shine from where they joined. Then, a red and gold creature walked out.
The new form had Byte’s body, but with paws, down on all fours. In place of a head, there was Bit’s body, but now with a beaked head, and a large ring surrounding the head.

“Oh my God!” X said.

“X!” Ryan called. X turned his head towards Ryan. “Catch!” Ryan threw his P.E.T to X. X caught it, looked at Ryan, smiled and nodded. He held the P.E.T to his forehead, as he began to scan information.

“Okay!” X said as he tossed the P.E.T back to Ryan. “Plasmasoul!” Suddenly, a beam of light appeared above X, and it descended upon him attaching Plasmaman’s armor, around X’s body bit by bit.

“Arm thrust!” Megabyte said. One of his arms shot towards X. PlasmaX jumped over it and pulled out his plasmagun, and began shooting.

“Grrrraagh!” The creature-maverick yelled, “Energy Sphere!” Two balls of energy slowly homed in on X, following him.

X began to search for a weapon to use. “What’s this?” He thought to himself, “New special weapon, Plasmablade.”

“Plasmablade!” X yelled. A radiating, glowing, gold blade appeared in PlasmaX’s hands.

“Sonicboom!” A sword appeared in Megabyte’s hand. He slashed through the air, shooting a wave of energy. X jumped over it, right towards Megabyte’s head. He brought down the blade through Megabyte’s robotic skull. X ran for cover, as Megabyte exploded into fragments of parts.

Lan then came out of the X-Fusion, and fell ti the ground, as did his P.E.T.

“We did it Megaman!” Lan said.

“We sure did.” Megaman smiled, “We sure did.”

CHAPTER 14: Nightmare!

Lan laid in bed, motionless as he was finally resting peacefully. Megaman was in the P.E.T sleeping. The door to Lan’s room began to creak open. A figure that was hidden by the shadows, walked towards Lan’s desk. He picked up the X-Fusion chip.

“This should do me some good.” The man said. A glint of sunlight reflected off his sunglasses. “Sunlight. I hate the sun.” The man ran off, forgetting to shut the door.

“Lan! Wake up!” Megaman said cheerfully.

“Why?” Lan asked in a groggy voice.

“Because, it’s time to get off the boat and into the theme park!” Megaman said. As Lan heard this he bolted out of bed, and put his clothes on as fast as he could.

“Ready!” Lan asked.

“You thought about food didn’t you?” Megaman said sarcastically.

“Hey! It’s not my fault that I’m hungry.” Lan said clutching his stomach.

“You better take your chips just in case.” Megaman said.

“I always do.” Lan said, and turned to grab his chip folder. “Um. Where the X-Fusion chip?”

“I don’t know. Wait… the door’s open.” Megaman exclaimed.

“So?”

“You closed it last night remember?”

“That’s right! That means someone was here!”

“Grab another chip in the meantime.” Megaman said.

“But, my chip.” Lan said. He pulled out his suitcase, opened the lock and then opened the suitcase. In the suitcase was hundreds of chips.

“Is that all you brought?” Megaman asked.

“In this suitcase, yes.” Lan grinned. He put his hand in the pile, dug deep, and grabbed a random chip. The chip he pulled out was veiled in a dark shadow. Lan didn’t notice, and put it in his pocket.

“I’ll tell dad about the chip then we’ll leave.” Lan said.

“Gotcha.” Megaman agreed.

Lan went into his parents room to tell his dad about the situation. “Dad! Dad!” Lan yelled as he ran to his dad.

“What is it, Lan.?”

“Someone stole the X-Fusion chip!”

“What? Why would they do that? Only Megaman can use it.”

“Yeah. But now I can’t fend off any mavericks.”

“Hmm. Okay. All I can do is make a new one when I get back to work, and you have to try to avoid mavericks.”

“I’ll try.” Lan said.

“Oh! By the way here’s a new chip that SciLab’s been working on. It’s called Heaven’s song, it negates darkchips’ effects.” His dad handed over the chip.

“Cool! I’m going to head to the park for the day.”

“Okay, we’ll see you later.”

“Castillo.” Lan read, “I haven’t been here since the subway was destroyed.”

“It looks like fun.” Sean said.

“Hmmph.” Chaud mocked.

“You can’t be nice at all, can you?” Ryan asked.

“Nope.” Chaud said.

“Obviously.” Ryan rolled his eyes.

Lan sighed, “Let’s go.”
The four friends walked into the theme park, and they were all amazed at how many rides there were, but both Lan and Chaud were even more amazed than Sean and Ryan, as they had been before when there were crap rides.

The new park had two roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, and a cheesy rip-off of splash mountain, with Megaman robots singing “We Are the Champions” in dedication to his victory in the Bluemoon/Redsun tournament.

“How do you like the publicity, Megaman?” Lan asked.

“They could’ve picked a better song.” Came a voice from the P.E.T.

Suddenly, an e-mail popped up on Lan’s P.E.T. “Lan, e-mail!” Megaman said.

“Read it!” Lan replied.

“If you want the chip back, get off the boat.” Megaman read/

“How are you supposed to get off when we’re moving and there’s no where to climb on to.” Ryan said. As if on cue, the boat staggered to a stop, and a board from the wall fell down, to be used as a plank.

“There’s your answer.” Chaud said.

“Are you still here?” Ryan said. Sean rolled his eyes as the two argued.

“Should we?” Lan asked Megaman.

“Let’s do this thing.” Megaman said confidently.
