I just got this issue #0 of it (they were giving them away for free) and also I've seen issue #1 for sale at the mall.

Shojo beet is a magezene with... well shojo manga in it. Like Absolute Boyfriend, Baby & Me, Crimson Hero, etc. There also producing manga outside of there magazene. Like Full Moon Wo Sagashite (Renamed Full Moon)

I just have one main problem with this magizene. First off it's so full of pink it would make narcy flip out and there's a huge makeup ad in the back. It's as if there trying to make it so boys can't get it. I mean some of the guys out there have to admit that you may be at least a little embarresed carrying that around the store.

I don't know, sometimes I feel embarassed admitting I carry Shonen Jump around the store... Razz

It's probably all pink and full of make-up ads because they're trying to get it to appeal to all girls, and not just the few that would read it for any manga in there. I guess they're trying to spread it to everyone, not just the select few that actually know how to read this stuff.

How strange, I remember signing up for the newsletter for that and I never recieved word that it was being released.. hm... Perhaps I shall look into this, to counter-act the constant action in SJ... >D

Yeah, I saw the first issue of Shoujo Beet at the mall and it was very....girl-ish. And are you sure that Full Moon wo Sagashite is renamed Full Moon? I saw at the end of a Shounen Jump issue that the name of it is Full Moon O Sagashite, at least that's what I saw in the Shounen Jump issue.

Guh I read through the Shojou Beat Sampler, it was awful, there was probably one comic that didn't suck as much of the bunch. The one where the kid has take care of his kid brother because his mom passes away.

It's a magazine for girls, you might as well carry around an issue of Seventeen Magazine.

I think that it is cool that they have it. I Signed up for it sorta late so ^^;; I hope i can get my issue soon. The funny thing is that Tokyopop also did something similar, Takuhai. Do any of you know which is better? Confused

Secondly, I think that it is fine to carry around a magazine. If you really worry then take your sister or a friend that is a girl or say that it is a gift XD But anyway ^^;; That is just me. I don't know how a guy thinks soo ^^;;

When it comes to appealing more to fans, Viz tends to do better in general. I like Tokyopop, but sometimes they try too hard.

They do indeed try hard, But i think that they also try to have more of the public involved in what it does. I tend to think of Tokyopop first before viz comes into mind.

Anyway, I went ot check the main site for Shojo beat. I hope they don't try to copy Newtype's style of book covers. Right now it seems like they are doing that. >.< I like originality especially when i go to look at a cover for a magazine or a book. Shojo beat seems to be mimicing newtype with it's magazine cover. It seems too... umm newtype white. I hope they will do a bit better with that and make it more colorful. >.<

Point 1: Many magazine covers are white.

Point 2: IT'S SHOUJO, YOU CAN EXPECT PINK.

It looks just like Ribon magazine. I love it. :D It whould come with free stuff, too; that would rock.

Oh, one other note for those who didn't know:

the name of the magazine, translated, is "Girl Beat". I hardly see how you can protest that it looks too girly - it's supposed to be.

I've been looking for it around town, but no luck so far. Jopefully the book store in the next town will have it. I'm just happy they finally have a manga magazine for girls.

Girly or not, I still love it!

As soon as I hear "Full Moon O Sagashite" is hitting US shelves, I ran to get a copy. "Full Moon" is the best. The next volume comes out August 2nd. :D

So far, I think that the best manga of Shoujo Beat is Full Moon O Sagashite. The anime is really good and I heard that the manga is better.

The preview of Full Moon's not in issue #0, but it's in something like a manga book form, like the TokyoPop Sneaks. I'm not sure if the preview of it was given away at malls and such, but it was given away at the Anime Expo, though.
