Has anyone played/bought this game? It just came out on Tuesday. I doubt many people have, though, because it's not very well known. What do you think of the game?
I think it's a great game. The story is very solid and based of Norse Mythology (always been some of my more favorite myths). The battle system is very cool and well thought out. The game is kind of linear since you cannot control your character and you must instead choose paths for him to take, it's not boring since they have great characters and dialogue to back up the game. I also love the graphics. They are all hand-drawn and look amazing. They are to the standard of Golden Sun, or maybe better than that! I, personally, think it is a great game and worthy of recognition!
Summery of the Story;
The story follows a wingless angel named Ecthel (Ein in the English Version) and his cat familiar, Rothe (Rose). Ecthel's duty as one of the Grim Angels, the guardians of Asgard (The home of the gods), is to destroy Riviera in order to prevent the demons spawning within it from causing another Ragnarok (The destruction of the gods in Norse Mythology). Ecthel and Ledah (same), a superior angel who is also assigned the duty of destroying Riviera, use weapons called Divines (Diviners) to annihilate any enemy in their path.
Before the Gates of Riviera, they are met by its protector, Ursula. Ursula summons the Holy Beast Aghart to dispel of the intruders. Using their Divines, Ecthel and Ledah are able to defeat their foe. Ursula then casts another spell which causes Ecthel to disappear, Ursula then does the same. Ursula decides to keep Ecthel alive when she senses that Ecthel has a pure heart and is capable of saving Riviera from destruction. She then steals his Divine's powers and his memory and sends him to Elendria, a town of Riviera, where the true story begins.
*Cough* anyway, who else has played it and what do you think of it =P? _________________

Also I worte about this a while ago. Months before it came out though. If I can find the old topic again I can find the offical japenese home page. It has tons of mini games where you can unlock rivera wallpaper, coursors, Icons, etc.
Edit: Found it.

I've been to the Japanese site multiple times, thanks anyway, though ^^;. Yes, they did change the voice acting to English =(. The most painful part is that they changed Ledah's EXL quote to "The burning flame shall envelop evil" from "The Sacred Scarlet Shall Devistate Them" =\. _________________

Meh, not bad. It could be worse. It's far better than Megaman X4's and Tales of Eternia's English voices. It doesn't slow turn me off to the game at all, plus the insanely cool music pretty much drowns it out =P. God, the game is so perverted! I guess I shouldn't be surprised, though. Ecthel pretty much has his own private Riviera harem going on, after all XD. _________________

Just buy it here or here. The game DOES have 4 girls as the main characters, after all. You can't expect no pervertedness out of that from something made in Japan =P There are even 2 hand-drawn bath scenes >.>;;;. I love how the actions you choose alter how the characters feel about you, it makes the game so much more enjoyable and funny. Hell, in one chapter, Ecthel gets completely screwed over by the makers of the game. He gets called a pervert 4 times in less than 3 minutes for 4 different scenes (One for each) XD. It takes on a very serious mood and at the same time is capable to entertaining the player =P. The sad part is, Ecthel isn't really a pervert(well except when he walks in on the girls taking a bath twice by his own will >.>), he's just always gets caught doing things that could easily lead to mis-understandings =P. Some times he even makes me wonder, though... Though, his perverted-ness mostly comes from the player's choices in the game .
........
I'm making myself want to play it XD. Damn, I'm having a helluva fun week! Switching off playing Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, then Riviera is so fun =D! _________________

I have it and it's god damn fun! The only thing that kills it sometimes is when you use the level 3 OverSkills a lot, after 1 hour you get tired of seeing the splash screens.
The game jokes are fun as hell, like when you meet the last girl and she feels over Ein (Ecthel), any of the 2 choices will get all the other girls mad at you (one is the "pervert" session MHZ was talking about).
Now I'm out, gotta keep playing! _________________

I got it but well.. Gets boring after awhile doing the same stuff over and voer and not being able to walk around. MUST HAVE WALKING for it to be a good game. Mostly all you do is pick options on what to do. |

I went through the other way (they way you originally entered), anyway, as I understand you had to do it as seasons goes by: summer, autum, winter, spring. I don't remember wich has to go first, but there's only 4 options that way. _________________

Well I was able to solve it. You must go Summer, Winter, Spring, Fall. Then Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and maybe back to spring. The problem was I kept confusing spring for fall and vice virsa ^^;; |

Well I've got to say I love this book weapon I have right now. If I use it with Lina it can do around 100-200 damange and if I use it with Fiaa it can heal my party for 150 (out of around 400) :D
Also I was wondering witch girl I should try the most to romance. I tryed Lina at first but she can be to... well not smart at times. Then there's Serene who seems to tough.. and then there's the red witch (I can't rember her name at all) who is just too ditzy.
All that said I think i'll go with Fiaa. She's the only one who's really nice and has a head on her sholders. I wonder if you can try to get that guy to like you???? (I think it's Ledath or something) I know that sounds weard but it would be interesting to say the lest.
Edit: Oh is there any way to skip story seens??? Or speed up text??? |

By the way, I've had my Serene do over 4000 damage once, so use her, she's good. She also did over 2000 damage to a hard boss. Cierra isn't really a ditz. She knows tons of stuff, she's just clumsy. Hold "L" to speed up text. Very useful. _________________

Edit: Holy Bajebus. I just saw that seen with all of the women bathing.... this game is very perverted indeed. Does that lower your score with any of the women??? |
