So... am I the only dub fan here? I mean, the subtitles looked to me like REALLY BAD ENGRISH.

That's just my personal view, though.

It's not like there's just one fansubbing group doing it >.>;;.

True, but I've decided that I want to hear what they're saying, not watch the words on the screen.

A lot of people do, including me. However, after watching so many subs, you sort of learn how to read subtitles from the corner of your eye easily. Razz

Really? I thought #anime-conan was doing a spectacular job. That series is a disgusting amount of work for a translator, because of the clues, and the criminal statements, and the sheer amount of dialogue. I tried to translate an episode once and it was insane.

#A-C actually does some very nice work, especially compared to that analogue subbing group who did a batch of the earlier episodes in the late 90s. Not to mention, they're fast, and there's actually hope of seeing the series end someday. XP

Dont tell me Heiji's dub name...I don't want to know it. >.>

(ps, MSZ, love your avatar, though it kinda creeps me out. XD Poor Natsumi...at least I think it's Natsumi...but yeah.)

Nah, I am refering to volume 42, chapter 5-10. hough, I do remember the episodes you were talking about, they were good ones =). I mean, after those chapters, there's no way Ran could not have known. Of course, I haven't read after that, so I dunno is she does or doesn't >.<;.

Aside from the play episode, there was another event that probably make Ran more away from thinking that Conan is Shinichi. [spoil:5a30a93f53]In the 8th movie, the phantom Kid (I think that's how you call him? I have no idea.) dressed up as Kudo Shinichi and appeared in front of Ran due to faking as Shinichi to solve a case. After that, I am pretty sure that Ran will not think Conan is Shinichi as much as she did anymore. (as a side note, in that movie, I saw probably the most childish Conan ever; he behave like a first grader after seeing Kid dressing as him. Completely childish, all whining. XDD.)[/spoil:5a30a93f53]

Anyway, same as Izumi, I think Anime-Conan is doing a fantastic job. It is hard to know kind of WTF they are talking about, but sometimes I still understand or just forget about it.

That's exactly why I don't like them, and will watch it on Adult Swim any day.

I call him Kaito Kid, actually... Well, now I wish I saw the 8th movie XD. That sounds really amusing XD. Does Kaito Kid have an English name, by any chance?

I for one will never utter the name again, even if it may be typing it =P.

Thanks XD. It's actually Momoka getting "artifical resuscitation" after almost drowning in episode 6 ^^.

I like the series as well.... I download the episodes every week and has downloaded many movies. *Muahahaha*

Recently, there were I think about 3 episodes where Ran kinda figured it all out, but Conan pulled it off as always.

I have 9 Conan movies on my computer..... *Muahahaha* :V

I'm really into Detective Conan! I only have the first 4 episodes on DVD, and I wish I could fnd more. All I can find is the first DVD, and then it skips to, like, episode 50-something. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I like to watch my anime in order. I refuse to buy anymore, until I can find all the DVDs (if they were even released in the U.S.).

I loved to watch it on Adult Swim, and I was mad when they took it off the air! Grrrr. :grr:

FUNimation skipped ahead on the basis that Adult Swim would air more episodes than they did.

Now FUNi (although I will defend them to the death) is pretty much screwed.

The seems like it would be in instant failure in America no matter what. It's too violent for kids, yet it seems too kiddish to teenagers (with the naked eye). It's kind of in a loop that it would never be able to overcome...

. . .O_O.

If the 9th movie isn't raw, Arumaken, you MUST tell me where you got it.

AMZ, if you want, I could try to rip the VCD and give you the file.

That's the exact reason why the license was dropped in the first place. It's been five years now since the Fox Family license; Conan's aired in French, Spanish, German, Chinese, etc (and in a half dozen languages, manga-style, some of which are almost caught up to the Japanese versions) and we can't find someone competent enough to see an English series through to the end. How irritating.

America always gets the stiff end of the boot. We are so liberal and pussywillowed that we can't do anything anymore. Plus, the moment I heard "Funimation gets Detective Conan" I rolled my eyes and said "Five months...maybe more...."

Look who's prediction came true?

Eh... 9 movies? Isn't the 9th movie scheduled to come out at the end of this month or something? Anyway, I also enjoy watching this series, but I do dislike it when the ruin the whole episode by giving away the person-who-did-it's identity. Though, I think that only happens in the dub. I wouldn't know. I never seen the sub. Excluding the 1st movie, but that's it. Over all, though, I like the series. I am also disappointed that they moved the original time to 5 am...

It was released in Japan awhile ago, I think. I am still waiting for the Taiwan release here, though.
