I'm actually surprised people hadn't noticed the names before... I think that was one of the first things I picked up about Rockman/Megaman. Well, actually it took me a little longer to realize Rush was a musical term of some sort. I thought they just meant he was fast or something.... _________________ Friendship is a promise made in the heart

I found out the meanings of the prefixes of their names:
Proto-means "first". Language of origin-Greek
Mega-means "great". Language of origin-Greek _________________

I dunno if anyone picked up on it, but Nana from Command Mission is also based on a musical term. It means "lullaby" in Spanish.
It's also used as the equivalent to the English words, "boo-boo," "nanny," and "grandma," depending on the region and context. I can sorta see the nanny part, as well as the boo-boo part, but lullaby seems to be the most likely one. |
Plus, notice the 7's on her boobs. Nana is Japanese for "seven." That's the connection I always made... but I like the Spanish one more... EDIT: Though, Babelfish says "arrullo" is Spanish for "lullaby." But... I don't speak Spanish, and Babelfish is... Babelfish, so I'm probably wrong. _________________

Something I wanted to ask. Sorry that this referes to EXE but i'd figure what better place to ask.
Ok pretty much everyone knows about the whole Rythem and Blues joke in volume 7 of the manga. I didn't think to much about it but then I saw it on these plates (Not the joke just the words) then it made me wonder where does the whole Rythem and Blues thing come from??? |

Couldn't Duo be a play on Duet? Just a thought that crossed my mind. And if no one mentioned it yet, Cossack is a russian dance. _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

Uhm... I'm pretty sure Omega was a big rumor. I'm not sure where I heard it from either, but I've never seen it stated in any official product (game, manual, Capcom themselves, etc. etc.)

No, it's not obvious. Zero "Omega" was a rumor that originated from a fansite owner that decided to give Zero a last name for the purpose of fanfiction. Someone got hold of that, and spread it around during the days when 'people that knew Japanese' were few and far in between, so the rumor became popular and many people stuck with it.
Another rumor began the same way when someone claimed X's name was Yakasa, which was a minstranslation from someone that read the way a Japanese artist/writer spelt the english pronounciation of 'X'. For a long time many fans did believe Yakasa was X's name till recent dates when the rumor was cleared.
The name Omega was started by a fanfiction writer, just like other rumors that spread around years ago. The few people that understood Japanese -or half understood in some cases- as well as the scarce source material avaible in the public light back then made those rumors become nearly a fact by many fans that to this day keep up with said rumors. I know a few people that still call X 'Yakasa' just because they grew up with it. _________________ Hecha en MÉXICO - Avatar by Me.

Plus... why would Zero be listed on the TV Tome page for MegaMan anyway? Zero never makes an appearance in that show. I mean... they even have Maylu's voice actress listed in the cast there. That MegaMan page at TV Tome (now TV.com) is extremely inaccurate... _________________

That's weird, cause I remember gamefaqs saying along time ago that Copy X's name was Omega, That's obviously wrong. Anyone else notice...Weil and Ciel? Where'd those come from? I don't even have the slightest clue how to pronounce them. |

Ciel is Sky in french, I am not sure about Weil, since the original name is Vile/Bile. _________________ Hecha en MÉXICO - Avatar by Me.

Yeah... I'm not sure where the Omega name for Copy X came from either, though I will admit that I used to use it as well. But... isn't there a character named Omega in Zero 3? I'm not that into the MMZ series, but I coulda swore I heard it... _________________
