Alrighty, then! It's time for defending the dub! :D
Yes, I like the dub. Why, you ask? 'Cause I watched it BEFORE I even heard of the EXE games! :O Yeah, after a year of watching it, I got BN2. Er, back on topic: I mean the name changes have reasons, even if they sound silly. FireMan was renamed to TorchMan to hide reference to the firefighters who die on 9/11. ( TV stations have been very picky about names and content of their shows since then.) I was absolutely HAPPY when I found out that WackoMan's original name was ColorMan. Why was I happy? Because I was glad that the dub changed his name! And as for music and VAs, they great. I mean, Mr.Match's dub voice suits him, ( I mean, he DOES look like he's from Scotland, right? *is bricked*) and the music fits with the moods. ( That didn't sound right...) As for the edits, come ON people! This show airs on KidsWB, therefore the show has to be for kids! That's the most important thing people forget when they coplain about the dub!! :grr:
That's my opinion. Yup. Oh, and sorry if it sounded like I was flaming someone. -_-; _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

There's the obvious reasons that I prefer the Japanese version... simply because it's the original, and it's how the anime was meant to be viewed. But re-watching the show in English, especially Axess, is really interesting... it conveys the same story in a different atmosphere. The BGM is a leading factor in this... the Axess dub's BGM is actually really catchy, and it's made some of my favorite Japanese Axess episodes more action-packed and enjoyable, IMO. So, I guess to sum it up... I really like both, depending on what I'm looking for. _________________

I always prefer the Japonese version (EXE, Axess,Stream).
Because the openings and endings are much better, theyr voices are very good andthe musics are cooler. _________________

I once heard a clip from the Japanese version, and I must say that I am wowed by the music. The music totally rocks! :] :D _________________

Then ignore them. They can think what they like, you can think what they like. |
Um, don't you mean "They can like what they like, and you can like what you like"?
Also, now that I've seen PaperAceChase say it, he reminded me of something I liked about FUNimation's dubs that I apply to other dubs. Even if an anime is changed somehow, or even if it's simply just made into an english language version at all, I like to watch both of them seperately because they sort of give two completely different feels for it, and make it all the more interesting. For instance, Yu Yu Hakusho has an english uncut dub, A VERY cool one at that, but it's not, like many dubs, directly translated from the original script and into english (although I beleive FUNimation has been doing that more often lately) but despite that factor, the english version script was really great, the voice actors were very realisitic in each character, the original music was kept, and the story was still generally the same. But my point is seeing any show in english and also in Japanese can be like two really fun experiences, even if the english version has been 'americanized'. |

I try to keep the original and the dub in two seperate boxes in my mind, that way I can enjoy both equally well.
I enjoy the raws simply because it's RockMan, and I like hearing how the VA's sound in original. And because the continuity is better, since nothing's been skipped or edited. However, (and I suppose that this stems from my AIIED) I don't like not understanding the dialogue of a show, and it annoys me no end when I can't. Sometimes I find myself fastforwarding past dialoge scenes simply because I have no idea what's going on.
On the other hand, I like the dub because that's what yanked me back into the MegaMan world, and so I have a strong sense of loyalty to it. Also, since I can understand who's saying what (even if the VA's struggle) I tend to favor it. That and the fact that I'm a sucker for bad puns.
So there you have it. I like both and that's about the whole of it. _________________

Wow, another debate topic <_<;;
I've no quandaries with either versions. The raws allow me an opportunity to see the original footage without the conspicuous cuts and edits, as well as listening to the original seiyuus of many characters. Subs of the Japanese versions give many people a clue on what they say, as well as what the original dialogue previously was before the dubbing process.
In NT Warrior's case, I loved the show and never noticed any obvious butchering, but prior to discovering REO, my eyes opened up and I was shocked that many scenes were cut and extraneous edits were implemented. Despite that setback, I still enjoyed the dub. Axess seems to be doing even better than EXE, since the dubbers became lenient on the edits and left most of the scenes intact. Most of the voices fit a majority of the characters, but the dialogue at some points seemed forced.
Meanwhile, I'm sticking with the raws. The dubs I watch just to spot edits (but I still love 'em). _________________

They both have their good points, but overall I prefer the Japanese version.
Overall, I find more of the Japanese voices good than I do with the English voices and for the most part I enjoy the Japanese voices I like more than the English voices that I like.
Based on the fansubs I've seen, I like the dialogue and how the names sound quite a bit more than the dub.
A couple of the episodes that have been cut or that are being delayed currently are some of my favorites, like the Aki-chan episode and the Bubbleman/Iceman/Aquaman one.
And as a lot of other people have said, I like the background music a lot more for the most part.
Not that the dub doesn't still have any good points...
There are still a few dub voices I like better and in some of the later and lost episodes the acting's managed to make the scenes around as good as in the original, or at least very close which is usually pretty hard for dubs to do in my experience. (EXE 30 and Whichever episode is the Planetman one are good examples here)
There was the stuff about the dub using a few DVD releases that had fixed animation for some episodes.
Everything from the Devil Roll episodes to the end of the Grand Prix was great, even compared to most other anime dubs that I like. |

Time for my points
Original: Well, I like the original because everything is like it's meant to be and hearing the original voices is very important, and the music (ZOMGBESOMEWHEREREMIX)
Dub: I like the dub, Axess is going well, tyhe music has improved, and sure it's in english and we can understand it, if it werent for the censorships I would see it more and more (if I had WB T_T ) _________________

I think you're the first person to agree with me on that. :D But seriously, why do so many people "dislike" the dub? Don't they realize that's it's for little kids like 4 and 5 year olds instead of 12 and 13 years olds? I think they don't... -_-; _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

4 or 5 years old? The show is rated Y7. It's intended for anyone above the age of 7, at least. In fact, 12-13 is probably more accurate to the target audience than you think. You probably should have said "the show isn't intended for 19-20 year olds" or something. But, regardless of the target audience, that still doesn't effect much... because even in Japan, it's still a kids' show. _________________

Why did I say 4 and 5 year olds? I meant to say like 8 to 10 year olds that can't handle much of the stuff older kids can handle. -_-; No, wait... Never mind. I agree with ya, Crimson Seiko. We dislike it because we arent 4 or 5 or 6 7 or 8 years old. We would at least be happy if they they releed an uncut dvd and did better things with the dub. Most of us really would have liked the dub more but the only real advantage for us is that it is in english so we can understand it. |

Well, if it were on Toonami or Adult Swim, THEN people could complain about the edits. Maybe CN will get MegaMan back on during the fall, maybe we'll have to wait a few years for that. ( After all, WB and CN have some of the same cartoons. -_-; ) _________________ MegaMan Kilobit

That's the keyword, it was modified to be aimed to an audience that's much younger than you and that has never seen and probably never will till they're older, the Japanese version.
You dislike it because you expect a direct translation of what goes in the Japanese, but that's impossible, not all audiences will get some things due cultural differences. You weren't the dubber's target when they brought the show to be dubbed. The Kids that run around playing with their toys and mashing and trashing their Mattel Action figures were. _________________ Hecha en MÉXICO - Avatar by Me.

I just think that some of the dub's script wasn't too good, mainly because of the bad puns that dubbers try to sneak in. Some of them are worse than Zodiac's in the Lan and Lyne chapter previews.
I try to watch the original when I can, but it's hard for me, seeing as I'm not on the net much. I try to watch originals of anime because here, in the uk, all you get in anime is 4kids' stuff (which as we all know is toned down for little kids to watch just for them to make some cash) and other stuff that is actually aimed at kids.
I like the original better, because of the music, the sound of the voice actors and the script. |

they put it on WB and put it Y7 for younger audience, but it seems like something for older audience but that's in Japan...
and if they showed Rockman.EXE on Adult Swim (not that it's going to) it would be different right |
Nope. It would have no reason to ever be on Adult Swim, or ANY block of cartoons suitable for an older audience other than ones ike WB or Foxbox. It's a kids show in the US, and it's a kids show in Japan. The difference? They have a different set of standards for what kids see on television. |
