A recommendation for the 'Site Recommendations' forum <_<;;; Nazne proposes adding 'Requesting RP forum = ban' to the title of the forum. It seems people can't even read stickies which state said message in all caps.

I have to agree with you, Nazne.

How many threads have there been asking for an RPG? Laughing

Although a whole ban sounds a bit harsh...maybe a ban from the site suggestion?

Reasonable enough.

About 5 people requested an RPG/spam section.

A ban from the entire forum seems like a good consequence IMO.

A ban is a tad harsh no? I know how anoying it is when people seem to be requesting for an RP section over and over again and I agree there should be a peneltay I mean come on how stupid can you be not to notice NO RPGS AT THIS FOURM. Prehaps a warning to them after all its not really fair to do ban them just for posting a topic eh. There are far worst things you can do on the fourm to get banned and I personaly dont think its fair to use a harsh measure like that but to warn them is more acceptable.

That's definitely too harsh a treatment for suggesting an RP forum. The only people that suggest it are those that didn't notice the anouncement in the first place. It's not like people are looking at the announcement and deciding to suggest it anyway, so giving a sterner warning would have zero effectiveness in actually decreasing the amount of suggestions. Furthermore, the only people that suggest RP sections learn their lesson after they're shot down the first time. It's not like they wait two days and then suggest it again. They fail to notice the rules, they get chewed out, they smarten up. That's how it's worked so far. If these people get banned after making the suggestion, then it basically makes no difference.

So banning people for mistakes like that would be completely ineffectual in reducing the mistakes. All it would be is an excuse to ban more people.

I am thinking Nazne's idea is more of 'scaring people' rather than actually banning them. However I agree that throwing the ban threat just for the RPG suggestions is a tad bit unnecesary. I think the best would be simply denying it next time it appears, explain why, and then lock it.

Maybe issue a warning, complete with a special custom title? Like "No Requesting RPGs, please <.<" as a title for like a week or so?

That'd be more confusing. They'd flood the forums with "I have a weird line under my name! ;o;" and it'd end with an endless loop.

Well...I agree heartily that there are FAR too many requests for an RP forum. I'm surprised that an announcement is BLOCK CAPITALS isn't enough.

I'm no PHPBB nerd, but shouldn't there be a setting where one earns a 'temporary' ban of some sort? Something more than a warning, but less than a ban? Something along the lines of suspending their priveleges to certain forums or posting, but not a complete ban.

Eh, scaring people was my main purpose >>; I just thought that if people saw it in the title of the very forum, they'd at least think twice before asking for one.

Maybe if the announcement was in colored text... >_>

You think that will work? The first post of the "Stream Downloads" thread in "Anime & Manga" has in block, red capitals:

Ryouko wrote:
IF YOU REQUEST AN EPISODE IN THIS THREAD, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

And yet, I've seen at least three users request episodes and get banned on the spot.

People just don't read what they don't want. Let them get themselves banned for our benefit.

Actually, I thought that there were places where you could make free forums. why not make a free one and just use that as the RP/Spam one?

We don't want spam affiliated with REO in any way?

Well, I don't like spam forums any way. I just try to think of compromises for people.

banning on the spot is harsh.

If people signed up here for RP why did they signup in the first place? (idiots)

If people want spam, they got a problem I think its annyoing.

but to make up for all of that bann junk, why don't you redirect them to a fourm (thats still EXe related but not absolute spam) that has what they want?

don't look at me like that. all I know that there are EXE related fourms with Spam sections and RPG, trust me on this one. I'm a mod in one of them

I READ THAT LAST PART!!! Yeah, I don't think that many actually want a spam, just a RP one.

Hikari Angel, that would still affliate REO with spam...

Also, there is another reason for not allowing spam and RPing.
Bandwidth.
It's expensive and unless people are willing to pay for a seperate server with it's own bandwidth for Ryouko, I doubt that it'll happen. <.<

Advertising rule applies there. This is REO, people can bring up google and search for Rockman EXE forums without any of us needing to point them out. It's unpolite to want to use this forum to advertise someone else's sites and if we allowed this, I'm pretty sure many people would abuse this and join only to advertise their sites. It has happened in the past, and will keep happening as long as people only think about their convenience, therefor that isn't the best solution.
