What is your opinion on the best Battle Network game so far? I think MMBN5 and MMBN2 were my two most favorites. I liked playing as other Navis besides Megaman for a change. Not that I have anything against Mega but I've always wanted to play as Colonel and Shadowman and Protoman. I like the bosses and challenges BN2 posed (except Freezeman's stage which was just annoying). Which BN game do you think was the best? |

I agree with that. The original two BN games were the best, simply because I could get absorbed into those games so easily. The threats and dangers in those games were real and serious... crashing buses, hijacking airplanes, hacking the world's weather control systems... But since BN3, the scenarios have just gotten dumber and dumber. Now we have people getting trapped in explosive bubbles, this little ghost girl, a woman venting her anger by killing a bunch of little kids with a giant drill... none of that makes sense.
As for gameplay, though? 4 and 5 have been the only BN games where I've at least tried to go into the secret areas after the final boss, simply because I'm actually good at these ones. I flat-out stink at 1-3, so once I finish them, I'm done... _________________

hm...hard to say but I like the story in BN2 and 3 more than BN4 and 5 (never played BN1) I like the new spikes in BN4 and 5 but BN4 is such an annoying game. For BN 2 I don't like the quality of the gifs that much so I think BN3 and 5 are my favourites so far. Also, i think BN3 got the best ending. |

BN3 has the best story. BN5 has the best gameplay. I can't decide on which one is better... I really really liked BN3 cause of it's stroy and it's awesome final challenges extra stuff, but I really like BN5's story as well, and it's gameplay is just... Perfect Battle Network Gameplay. I'm just gonna say in my opinion, those 2 are tied for best BN game...
This is of course not counting the spin-off games. Because 4.5 is easily the greatest handheld video game ever created. _________________

Okay, WindSoul, I'm going to have to ask you to say more. It won't kill you to say more than a sentence. Elementalman at least said why, you didn't give any opinions at all.
As for me, my first EXE game was 2 so that, is one of my favorites, but I really, REALLY like exe5. The Liberation Missions were a great addition to the game. The music for exe5 was also fantastic.
For uniqueness, I like 4.5. The play style was just so inovative and fun. _________________

the first 3 series maybe the 3rd since it had a customizer. I thought the series would end at the 3rd when megaman died. _________________ Avatar by May, many flowers and thanks for the wonderful avatar. |

Actually I think MMBN 5 and 2 are the best, 4 is utterly supid (storywise) and 3 is OK. I have actually never palyed MMBN 1 but at EB games it was the most expensive, followed by 2 then 3, kinda odd considerin it wasn't that great from what i have heard. |

My favorite BN games are 1, 2, and 3.
Although BN1 lacks alot of the niftier features more developed ideas of the later games, it holds a special place in my GBA collection because it was one of the few games that ever got me addicted; I would go back to play to over and over again. It is also one of the ONLY Battle Network games so far to get the formula right; it had an excellent combat system, the plot was believable and kept you going, the bosses were challenging without being ridiculously cheap, and it had plenty of secrets running around to keep you playing even after you beat the final boss. It also payed homage to the Classic series that the characters were based on by giving bosses their own stages, each with its unique gimmick. Recent Battle Network suffer from the developers trying to make them too much like the anime; isn't it supposed to be the other way around, since the games came first?
Battle Network 2 was kindof the midway; its gameplay was more developed (I always consider BN1 to be Capcom experimenting with their new concept anyway), the story was good, and it added enough new features to make it a blast to play. It also featured the coolest version of the UnderNet to date. It still had some problems, but they were few and far apart.
Battle Network 3 finally had its gameplay and game features fully developed, but the story definitly lacked the charm of the first game.
I consider Battle Network 4 to be a complete joke. Lacking the cooler features of the previous games and any cohesive plot, not to mention the goofy-looking new sprites, I really had a hard time taking it seriously. How could I, when even the translators didn't seem able to? (I refer to the many, many spelling mistakes. What, Capcom didn't have time to give them spell checkers?)
I have yet to play Battle Network 5, but lots of people say it was really good. So maybe that's something to look forward to, eh? _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

For me its ExE 2. Because its the only ExE game that I dont need help from gamefaqs or something else, I can finish the game by myself. I like the story too. _________________

In terms of storyline I'd say my favorite was the first.
In terms of phun single player gameplay my favorite is the second
In terms of phun multiplayer, my favorite is the third.
In terms of a small piece of plastic to chuck at someone's head, my favorite is four.
I like the first game's story because it's just so cool. I dunno, but the plans of the WWW were just so clever to me. Brainwashing school kids, contaminating the water, gathering all the scientists to a celebration and suffocating them all, bugging the traffic light system and charging one mil zenny for the fix. It's brilliant.
The second one takes the cake for single player gameplay because I put tons of time into it. The net is reworked, making it more easily navigated, battle introduced Style Change which allowed for more customization, and there was a pretty good assortment of chips at your disposal. The navis you'd fight provided more of a challenge than those of the first game, as well. I dunno. I just found it the most enjoyable to play through.
And BN three wins in terms of multiplayer because it furthered certain aspects of the second game. The Navi Customizer was a genius addition to the game, if it weren't for cumbersome programs like Press, EnergyChange, and Alpha. Re-arranging the customizer everytime you need to cross a path, or clear an obstacle isn't phun. But still that's why I say it's best for MULTI-Player. Navi Customizer along with new Styles allowed greater customization that worked well with the games many combos. There were also plenty good new chips and PAs to use.
Bn four wins in terms of a small plastic thing to chuck at people because I can't think of any other use for it. Though I must say that it's BN fans own fault that it turned out like that. After BN three there were tons of people complaining that it wasn't a "real" tournament. Then they got a real tourny and hated it. Can't be satisfied can we?
I have yet to play 5 and probably won't till I get Double Team/Twin Leaders. _________________ I think it's time to say goodbye. |

BN1 was awesome. You could get lost in the Internet, save in front of Chip Traders, and build the brokenest folders ever (10 PaladinSword, etc.)
BN2 was the best. Gater. Best BodyGuard PA. GospelDupe. Much much more to compliment this game, but those are just a few.
BN3 was fun, introducing the first BFT...
BN4 was...blegh.
BN5 was redeemable for Liberation Missions.
2>3>5>1>4. That's how I'd break it down. _________________ I can't help you. I don't speak English.

BN2 was the best, hands down, for the reasons listed above. Abusable folders, bugs, a very nicely done storyline, and a good conceptualization of the Internet was a good thing.
For folder building, however, the best has to be BN3, since many of the PAs were quite viable and could possibly be turned into tournament-worthy folders. Many of the folders were balanced and one had no clear advantage over the other. It was a, more or less, level playing field. The other games had perhaps a few select folders rising to the top every time, with all others far below it. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! Hahah!
While you make a very good point there, it's also Capcom's fault for jumping from one extremity to the other. First they give us a tourney that's only one in name, everything about it is scripted. Then they decided to actually give us a tourney, but then made the whole freakin game one. I'm sure most people were thinking tourneys in terms of the open tournaments you can make in BCC. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover
