Never Too Old Enzan/Netto Fluff - One Shot for Neko

Neko always writes pretty fics for many people! It's time to treat her -or attemp at least- a fanfic for her.

Winter was a season that could bring many different emotions to people. Some would find it depressing. Others would think of it as a season of joy and human warmth. Children would think of it as the season where school could be interrupted at random intervals. To Enzan Ijuuin, winter was just a cold part of the year. Or that's what he used to think, until a certain brunette appeared in his life. Since then nothing has been the same anymore.

Enzan could remember the first time he actually enjoyed a winter. His Net Savior comrade, Netto Hikari had made it his job to ensure everyone would spend a wonderful time during winter. Sleeding in the snow around the headquarters of the Net Saviors became a regular practice for the younger elements of the force. Enzan commended on Commander Kifune's warm nature and keep himself from endorsing a punishment on all of them. But as they grew up, those simple little things became a rare occurance.

At his early 20s Enzan had become quite a workholic, he hardly even bothered with the net crime anymore. Many things that he used to enjoy and take for granted years back, seemed so uninteresting to him now.

"Mr. Ijuuin? There's someone that wants to see you immediately. He says it's important."

Enzan blinked confusedly, realizing for the first time how lost in thought he had been for the past few minutes.

"Let him come in." Enzan replied, fixing his tie and typing a few codes into his computer to save the information he had been writing down. "Blues, what time is it?"

"It's 6:34 pm, Enzan-sama." The red navi replied softly, knowing for sure that his operator had lost the track of time once more. It worried him that Enzan kept skipping meals some times because of it.

"Enzan Ijuuin, what the hell are you doing in the office this late?!"

The skunk haired man blinked several times and finally turned his glance to the door. His jaw dropped lightly in attonishment. "N-Netto?..."

"Yeah, Yeah. Nice to see you too." The brunette grinned briefly before frowning and stalking to Enzan's desk. It had been nearly 3 years since Netto had left Densan City to attend college, and even if they kept in constant contact via e-mail, they hadn't been able to spend any time together since Netto left.

"What are you doing here?" Enzan asked, managing to regain his composture.

"What kind of question is that?" Netto scolded the elder man. "It's past 6:00pm I bet you haven't eaten anything!"

"I didn't mean that. I thought you were still at Amerope?" The vice president of IPC came to notice the Sci-lab garb Netto was sporting.

"I graduated. Thanks for checking your e-mail this week." Netto turned his head in attempt to look indignated, "I started working for Sci-Lab today. Dad is quite the hard boss type."

Enzan frowned slightly, suddenly feeling upset about forgetting to review his non-bussiness mail.

"Any ways! Let's get you out of this darned office! I don't know how can you stand being here all day. That's not healty, you know!" Netto grabbed Enzan's arm, literally dragging him off over the top of the desk.

Blues, on the other hand, was trying really hard not to laugh at the two boys. Some times, he wished Enzan could be a bit more like Netto, more lively and carefree without being overly irresponsible.

"At least let me get my PET!" Enzan was completely red in his face from the embarassment. Luckily, nobody was passing by the corridor at the moment. "God, will you ever grow up, Netto Hikari?" Enzan tried to reprimend Netto's espontaneous nature.

"What do you mean with grow up?" The brunette frowned, crossing his arms in a rather authoritary manner, "Just because I've grown up doesn't mean I have to turn into a prune. What's the point of even living if you stop having fun and enjoying simple little things in life as you grow up?"

The businessman had no words to retort to his friend's statement.

"Come on! I have a surprise for you!" With that, Netto dragged Enzan out of the office, then through the building, ignoring the stunned glances of the employees. Enzan decided at that time he really didn't care what they'd think.

"Here we are!" Netto said cheerfully as he dragged Enzan into his house. Haruka greeted them from the kitchen as she began to prepare some hot cocoa for the 'children'. No matter how old they'd be, in Haruka's eyes, they were still children.

"What did you bring me here for?" Enzan asked as he dusted the snow off his winter coat.

"What else? To have some fun!" Netto ran across the hall to the back door, "Come on, come here!"

Enzan sighed and smiled, following after Netto. "What are we going to do here?"

Netto grinned and pulled a familiar looking board out of a small storage closet, "Remember this? The snow outside the house is perfect for sleeding!"

The skunk haired boy blinked a few times and grinned. Who said the good times were over when you grow up? Enzan ran after Netto, sitting down on the board with Netto, sliding down the road with his friend, intending very much to spend the rest of the evening enjoying himself in the company of his good friend.

Growing up, certainly didn't mean one had to stop having fun. And live was too short to let it slip away without enjoying it.

It's been quite a while since I have read one of your fics. You're developing that specific style throughout your works, and it comes to life a lot more in this fic. My only very minor gripes are wilth spelling and the fact that it is a tad on the short side, but otherwise it is another cute fic.
