I agree with Yoshiman in that Junkdataman must have been made to fit the lip synching. I can't think of another reason unless the dubbers just thought it sounded cool (which it doesn't, in my opinion). The episode, otherwise, seemed clear of major edits. I also liked Junkman's va; I thought it fit well enough.

I almost fell asleep during this one though, heh. I guess the combination of the morning hours and my summer insomnia issue made for that. Meh, I really should start taping these and watching them at night. ^^;;

"Junkdataman"..yeah..that's pretty dumb..I still think "WindBlastMan" is the worse.

Anyone want to start a betting pool on the potential new names for BrightMan, StarMan and ColdMan? Laughing

Raijin already spoke about this a LONG time ago. It doesn't hae to do with lip sycnhing. If that were true, then why would they've changed many of the names to something SHORTER than their japanese counterparts, such as Lan being one syllable as oppose dto "Netto-kun" being 3? >>

Why the complaining about his name, he'll be in two more eps and then he's gone. Likewise Metalman will never appear again. Its worse when they change the names of characters that appear often.

Sorry, it was just the only positive thing I could think of. Maybe the dubbers thought the original names didn't explain the characters enough, I don't really know. Unless someone can find an employee of ShoPro, Ocean Group, or whoever, they can give us an explanation. Other than that, I guess we'll never know the truth.

Ahem. Don't even make comments about Brightman's name. Not because of my extreme of love the guy and I'm defending against such things. But because he's had his name and actor listed for some time now. (Long before we came close to that episode dub-wise.)

See? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367369/fullcredits

Just look at Mike Coleman's name. I only hope he doesn't screw up Brighty. Nor the writers do the same. Check it out!

As for Junk"Data"Man, I think it's more like Fireman's reason for being renamed Torchman. They didn't want to confuse him with a real live junkman which is another term for garabeman/garbage collector/trash-eating stinkbag.

Hold it Senukiman's dub voice is the same as Burnerman's? And who is Pickman?

Oh. Whaleman's partner? I just realized that one of the staff of the Megaman anime is Major Kusanagi (GitS:SAC) voice actor.

For FIREMAN that would make sense, but Junkman ended up being a good guy in the end, so I really don't think that applies here. Plus, I still think it's because "Junk Data" is a computer term...and yeah, why it is that Brightman's VA has ALREADY been picked and shown there is beyond me o_O

Don't believe the Mike Coleman thing. He posted that info long before he could have known he had the part, in this and other shows.

How the Hell does that work? What could match the Lip Synching of "Junkman" better than Junkman?

Well, there's always the phonetics, which correspond to the syllabals.

i.e. Jun-ku-man (Basing of Rockman)
Junk-man

But, what do I know? I'm probably wrong.

Lip synching has no point as Junkman doesn't move his mouth when he talks.

But what about other characters who have mouths (Netto, Rockman)

Well if it is not a lip synch issue then the only other possible reasoning is that Viz/Sho Pro put it in there because they wanted to. It strikes me as very odd that they would change some names like that but leave others alone.

Oh well, I give up...the more I try to decipher these name changes, the more I end up going in circles. -.-
