Neon Genesis: Evangelion... on Adult Swim?

I was making a check on the Right Stuf website for how my orders are coming along. The front page has news on it and mentioned two things about Adult Swim (i.e. The greatest thing ever to happen to Cartoon Network). First thing is that new episodes of Full Metal Alchemist will start showing in September :D which is excellent news. But the second bit of news really widened my eyes. "They're showing Evangelion?"

I was surprised when I saw that too. Didn't really see it on their site, but the little mini-preview during the AS block. >>;

Kinda weird though. A while back, they were asking for suggestions for new anime to show. They said no NGE, along with Ranma 1/2. Maybe they were being serious, or maybe they were just being [adult swim]. I don't know.

Anyway, I think it's kinda cool how they will be showing it on TV. I saw those few episodes a while back when Toonami had that 'Giant Robot Week' thing. Been wanting to see more ever since. o.o

Prehaps they didn't want people to suggest those shows because they were planning on airing them.
NGE coming to Adult swin is good news to me, and I can't wait to see the show. Giant robot week got me hooked, and watching all the other shows GAINAX made just made me want to watch it more.

Sweet. I'm not the only one who remembers Giant Robot Week. ^_^ I never watched more than those episodes though, so...yeah. v_v If its coming to AS, I'll be happy.

Heh. I only have 8 channels so I won't be able to witness how they edit Eva... I've seen the series though, dubbed & subbed(surprisingly the dub made a whole hell of a lot more sense), twice over, and watched both movies a couple dozen times. Good stuff. 'course, it coming to TV doesn't affect me in any way - as I won't getta see it anyway - so I'll stick to what I got. :D

I'm pretty sure only the most violent or sexual things will be edited cause they have paronoid agent and samurai champloo so it shouldn't be that bad.

Meh! Why is Adult Swim wasting cable time with garbage like Squidbillies and 12oz Mouse? They only hate anime cause they can't make anything that good! :grr: As for Eva, I'm actually surpized they got it. Since they absolutley refuse to air Ranma 1/2. And since Yu Yu Hakusho proved too much for Adult Swim to keep.

I could understand them not airing Ranma. There's quite a lot of upper body nudity involved in it. They'd have to put in swimsuits or something like with Tenchi, and I'd guess they don't want to go through the hassle. Plus, Ranma's dislike of wearing bras is part of the plot, so they wouldn't make sense.

THAT WAS THE BEST PART OF THE SERIES!! Episode 19 was the greatest episode of the series. [spoil:fec2370df2]When Shinji totally lost it and beat the crap out of that angel that nothing else could, then lost power and Unit One had to finish it on its own... It was such a goo battle.[/spoil:fec2370df2] I'm really glad I have it on DVD, 'cause i wont be missing anything if they edit it.

Adult swim can make good things, aqua teen robot chicken brak show harvey birdman, sealab. It's just some of the shows they make suck so horribly (mostly because it's a stupid plot or that it's a really lazy show like tom goes to the mayor or 12 oz mouse.) But I don't know why they don't like anime.

Hey, I just thought of something, what is going to happen to Inuyasha? I mean, I'm afraid that I might have to stay up later (i.e. 12 am. or 1 a.m. CT) on Saturdays just to watch the show.

I don't really plan on watching the adult swim, NGE just because it will be toned down slightly. A few edits hear and there but then it might get to carried away and they could stop airing it, like with YuYu, good things by time they start airing it I will have the first 15 episodes.

I am finally going to break down and start buying anime dvds, well Eva dvds only right now becuase of the 5 episodes per dvd thing, makes it worth the $30, plus I am getting enough allowance to aford one dvd or game and a few manga a month so I am actually happy, then I can laugh at the AS one just becuase it will be cut for those extra few minutes of commercials.

You know the 10 minutes of comercials everyone in America Loves SOOO much that are scattered throughout the episodes making them have to have random stuff cut instead of the one break in the middle like with anime in japan. (that is based on the fact that there is the commercial cut scene in rocman in the approx middle of it and the episodes them selfs are only 24.5 minutes long usually. so yeah out of thirty leaves a comercial break before, and in the middle of an anime. )

I still look foward to seeing it on AS just so I can watch it when I don't feel like hooking up my dvd player. Or when I don't want to let Mugen.EXE see a episode they want I can record the AS one for them using my DVR and then let him watch it instead of the un edidted verion just for the heck of it.

The only bad thing about NGE was the series ending. O_o An ending so confusing that they had to make a separate movie to make up for it. I wonder if AS will show the movie... I kinda doubt it. Heh. The movie was even more strange and violent than most of the episodes. Laughing

about comercials all I know is that in japan they make more sense to me. I mean in the before, inthe middle and after. so yeah over here it is lalalal 5 min up lest air 2 minutes of comercials lalala another five or six minutes is up lets air another 2 minutes of comercials lalala another 5 minutes another 2 of comercialls it sucks.

Oh, no. No way would the End of Evangelion show on commercial television (in the US). More graphic violence, swearing, and nudity, plus the movie is, if anything, stranger than episodes 25 and 26. Really, Evangelion doesn't end up making a whole lot of sense. It's just too cool to be understood. Still, Thanatos - If I can't be Yours is one of the greatest songs ever. It is the song playing during the midway credits for End of Evangelion. Yes, there are credits halfway through the movie, and then the second half of the movie plays. Japan's different; that's for sure.
