My guesses are that following the game's exact storyline would become tedious and too predictable. But who knows?

It is quite an interesting case... for the EXE series is a spin-off of the original Classic saga, and then there's three separate stories for EXE... games, anime, and manga.

But, truthfully, it's not that unusual. A lot of anime are completely different from the manga, and then some of them spawn video-games, and they're typically different too. Fullmetal Alchemist is a nice example of this.

I'd figure it's because... well, who wants to be told the exact same story three times, just in different forms of media? Series like EXE have a lot of potential to go in completely different directions, and it's nice to see three different perspectives and convections of the characters, premises, and concepts in EXE.

The Anime, Game and Manga are different because each has a different staff, even the X series changed when the BoF staff took over.

Everything is more interesting when they deviate from the games' storyline. Though some parts are similar to the Anime....a little...

I mean, who actually wanted to have about 12+ episodes of a tournament in the Anime with a battle that'd probably last 5 minutes-? (That would've probably happened had they done a part of Axess like that...)

And characters like Burnerman were actually villains in the Anime, unlike his filler-up role in the games.

Plus,it makes it easier for them to still have characters on reserve and not use them all up.

Who would want to watch 12+ episodes of a tournament in the anime? We did, apparently, since we already had about 10 episodes of the N1 Grand Prix in episodes 10-22 of the original EXE series.

But the battles didn't last for about 5 minutes. And the only battles actually focused on were with main characters, there wasn't a whole lot of "normal" navis shown.

Anyway,yeah... -_-; Lemme re-phrase what I said:

We wouldn't want a whole lot of un-necessary battles and annoying tasks being thrown in just so Lan / whomever could battle their opponent.

I think that sounds better.

Maybe they wana keep the game interesting and that's why they change it cuz if they put the same thing in the game from the series then there wouldn't be many stuff to discover really. :D

Keep in mind the anime came after and is based on the games, thus it would be the anime getting changed, not the games. >>;;

Rather than have a predictible plot, they would decide to make one similar to the games, so that it wouldn't be a direct replaying of the games

i'm going to have to agree on the different staff note.

but some animes DO keep the same story line in anime, manga and games. just look at shaman king and naruto. they NEVER get to the fun parts though.... and they split is up into different games covering the more through(sp?) manga version and somewhat censored anime.... yea.... [sorta off topic now....]

anyway, i think it's nice that they have different plots/drawing styles. or maybe they want to expand? i dunno. i like crimson's explaination though, way better than anything i can come up with. XD

random comment>> [spoil:289dba27c4]they have a zero manga out[/spoil:289dba27c4]

That's not really a spoiler. Yeah, there's a Rockman Zero manga out in Japan. I happened to think of that, actually, when I was writing my post. There are also mangas for the Classic and X series... which, as you guessed it, are also completely unrelated to the games they're based on. And then the Classic series has the American RubySpears cartoon, which is completely different... and there's also the three-episode OVA series (recently released by ADV Films as "MegaMan: Upon a Star") that is, yes, completely different. MegaMan characters are unique, there's a lot of them, and they all have the potential to go in a million interesting directions. It seems like any of them can be good or bad, any of them can have completely different personalities, and everyone likes to play with them. The varying storylines and perceptions of the series is no different than why we write fan-fics.

yes, fanfics, what would we do without them (and the manga). Laughing

ja~ but then some animes out there don't really move very far from the manga/games they originated from. well, minus some plot points and junk. I suppose you have to give the rockman franchise some credit, at least the story is different per media.

i saw the zero manga on the store shelf. for a moment i thought they did it chibi because of the cover (scared me it did). -.- what?

i like your comments crimson-san! they're interesting and fun to think about! chu~ :D
