Post the name of any game for any system, how difficult it is, the reasons it's hard, if you've finished it, and if you want - advice on how to beat it. If you don't like my format, make your own.

BATTLETOADS (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Insane (Pretty Much Impossible on 2 players)
REASONS: The required timing has to be nearly perfect at all times, and if you die you get sent back. Worse in 2 players; if one player dies BOTH are sent back! And it's impossible in 2 players; on level 11 player 2's clinger winger remains frozen and (s)he will inevitably die.
ADVICE: Lightning-fast reflexes and memorizing the levels will help you beat this fun but ridiculous game. As for the 2 player mode, don't bother, but if you really want to do it, make sure both you and your buddy know the levels. Either way, also try to rack up as many lives as possible in level 2. I actually find getting 1-ups in level 2 easier without a weapon because you can attack faster.
BEATEN: Yes, I can easily cruise through it, losing a few lives here or there, and no continues used.

FESTER'S QUEST (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Insane
REASONS: Only two hits allowed! (three, if you find the secret powerup) Your bullets, when the spread, will vanish when they hit a wall, making it hard to fight. And if you die, you don't continue from a certain point; you only keep your items and the bosses you've defeated, and you're sent back to the very start of the map.
ADVICE: Try to get and keep your gun at level 7 or 8, and your whip at 3 or 4. Turbo rapid fire will really help you hose your enemies down.
BEATEN: No. I only got past the 4th boss and couldn't make any more progress.

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Insane
REASONS: The time limits are way too short for each level, level 9 is hard to beat, and level 10 is a nightmare.
ADVICE: Try to collect as many weapons as possible in the early levels, and save them up. Also, go quickly but carefully because of the time limit. The hidden warp zone in level 1 can help you go as far as level 9, if you want to hurry through the game.
BEATEN: No, I only got up to level 10 and couldn't find my way out.

Contra (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Insane
REASONS: One hit instantly kills you. The fact that the enemies take SEVERAL shots to kill doesn't help either -_-; .
ADVICE: At the title screen, press the following buttons; Up up down down left right left right B A START.
BEATEN: Yes. The advice I gave is really helpful (trust me).

EDIT: Whoops. Slight error. XD

Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox
Difficulty: Throw your controller at the wall
Reasons: eh
Advice: don't play this game if you are a little girly-pants prom queen (lol)
Beaten: after a few months, yes.

something else will most likely come to mind later

Kid Icarus (NES)
Difficulty: Someday, before I die, I will beat at least the first level
Reasons: No idea what's going on, and then you're hit by twenty scary flying things.
Advice: Get used to hearing the theme song music.
Beaten: I can get about 80% through the first stage, yes.

Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (PC)

Difficulty: Insane

Reasons: Although the first two difficulty levels are pretty hard but manageable; take a step into Hell difficulty and you're fighting for survival right from the start. (It should be noted that unlike most games, the higher difficulty levels in Diablo 2 are extensions of the same game; you keep the same character and everything about it, but you start back at the beginning of the story and all the enemies have been made stronger) Any character not built with the best items and skills WILL face annihilation long before they reach the end of the first Act; and even those few characters who have been pain-stakingly armed with the best equipment possible and at level 99 (the highest experience level) will struggle to survive before the game's half over. A friend of mine has a necromancer more powerful than anything I've ever SEEN, and even he gets his ass handed to him on a silver platter unless he has a full party of fellow players backing him up.

Advice: When building a character, you need to know exactly what strategy you'll be using right from the start and build up to it through the entire game. Otherwise, your character will be too weak by the time things start to get hectic.

Beaten: Sadly, no. I have gotten my main character up to level 85, and I can hold my own on Act 4, but I have yet to achieve the title of Patriarch awarded for beating Hell.

Halo (X-Box)

Difficulty: Ridiculous

Reason: Alright, I know that most game companies are pushing for "realism" in their games, but they also seem to be forgetting to make their games "fun" at the same time. Take for example Halo. Teaming up with a squad of well-made AI marines and battling our way through a vast battleground is fun. Trying to get through one section where the same damn enemy appears out of nowhere and kills me instantly, forcing me to replay the same damn section over and over again until I get lucky and can avoid being cut down in five seconds is not fun.

Advice: Play co-op with two people. Atleast then you can learn from each other's mistakes without having to go back and replay the section over and over again. Just whatever you do, don't pair up with someone you know is an immature jerk. I've been stabbed in the back enough times to have learned that much.

Beaten: Yes. I forced myself to trudge through the excrutiatingly long and repetetive (but mostly repetetive) story mode, although the ending (and everything leading up to it) was a huge dissapointment. But atleast I can say I beat it! Go me....

Oh god, Diablo II. I remember how insane that game was. Another challenge from it: avoiding addictions. Strangely, I didn't like that game but found it very addicting for awhile.

7TH SAGA (SNES)
DIFFICULTY: Incredibly hard, but doable
REASONS: Enemies are really tough, and the other apprentices level up as you do, and their stat gains are 50% better than usual if they're not in your team! (This makes new allies really powerful, but it makes fighting against them nearly impossible) When fighting them, you're sometimes healing every round just to keep your character alive.
ADVICE: As for fighting the apprentices, fight them at lower levels. And against Lejes, keep using the Star Rune or Defense1 until he runs out of MP. I can't offer much advice here.
BEATEN: Yes. I beat it with Kamil and Esuna at level 51.

HOME ALONE (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Nearly damned impossible. Even harder than Battletoads.
REASONS: You have to stay away from two burglars who have a definate speed advantage for 20 minutes and in one life.
ADVICE: Don't play this game. At all. Just send reviews to GameFAQs giving this game a 1/10
BEATEN: No, and I never expect to.

COBRA TRIANGLE (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Insane
REASONS: The time limits are extremely short, it's easy to die, and some levels require split-second reflexes or memorization of the levels. There's also no reverse or brake button...and worse; no checkpoints!
ADVICE: Get the Turbo powerup first, then beef up your weaponry. Build up speed after about the first boss, and try not to use the Force powerup unless you really need to.
BEATEN: Yes, but with Game Genie.

FRIDAY THE 13TH (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Incredibly hard, but doable
REASONS: Throughout the game Jason hits really hard (he takes off more than 25% of your life per hit!), and on day 3 he's almost too fast for you to hit him.
ADVICE: Try to get the best weapons as soon as possible, and keep as many medicines as possible. When Jason becomes lightning-fast, time your ducking just right so you'll get up just after he finishes his first attack, and duck a second time ASAP. Then as he backs up, try to hit him with your weapon.
BEATEN: Yes, best was beating it with all six counselors alive, and only one of the children dying.

Oh, and here's a template for others to use.
DIFFICULTY:

I can help; if you don't mind spending a few extra minutes playing that game, make a simple map (although it's linear), and take note of where those "twenty scary flying things" are so you can get ready. Also try to take note of their patterns and you should be able to fight them better.

You will get past at least the first stage; keep trying! That's partially how I beat Battletoads; this one guy told me "You will beat it; keep trying!"

Contra (NES)

REASONS: One hit instantly kills you. The fact that the enemies take SEVERAL shots to kill doesn't help either Sweatdrop .
ADVICE: At the title screen, press the following buttons; Up up down down left right left right B A START.
BEATEN: Yes. The advice I gave is really helpful (trust me).

You thought Contra was insane? Bah, Contra is what I eat for breakfast. All the years of 2-D shooters made me adapt to the controls. Now Contra THREE is a different story. That game made me throw fits of rage.

Ghosts n' Goblins (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Insane
REASONS: Even though you can get hit twice without dieing, the actual PLAYING part gets hard after a while. Arthur really isn't all that "atheltic" if you know what I mean.
ADVICE: Don't get the fire. Fire sucks. Same with hatchets. Hatches suck. Oh, and don't lose your armor? I guess that's advice.
BEATEN: Even with the advice, this game was extremely difficult. If you die at the last boss you feel like punching a puppy in the face.

Prince of Persia 2 (SNES)
DIFFICULTY: WTF!?
REASONS: The controls are set so there is a bit of lag inbetween each of your moves. So you have to time your jumps, sword strikes, everything you actually do. Oh, and it doesn't help that almost everything kills you. Even the scene of the game is out to get you.
ADVICE: TIME EVERYTHING. You have to time everything you do. Oh, and there is also a glitch that allows you to walk through walls, but I forgot it. Something with an item of some kind...dunno...didn't try it....
BEATEN: Yeah, just time everything and you'll (probably) do fine. I beat this game in 12 (frustrating) hours. You can too!

DIRTY HARRY (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Seemingly impossible
REASONS: The first level is a huge maze. The second level, I can't get past speedboat guy. The third level, that mountain is so hard to climb.
ADVICE: Well...if you wanna cheat...use the password "CLYDE" for infinite lives.
BEATEN: No. I can't find the exit in level 1, and I used passwords to skip levels 1 and 2, but still didn't make much progress.

ROCKET RANGER (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Requires luck; but easy otherwise
REASONS: Most of the countries have nothing and you will waste time and eventually lose. Then your rocket pack; it runs out of fuel too quickly!
ADVICE: Try to locate the lunarium bases as quickly as possible. Then find an adjacent action scene and keep going back and forth to get lots of fuel. Also, what you find in the countries are random, so what may be in one country may not be there on your next playthrough. However, you can usually find a jungle lunarium base in South America; Venezuela I think.
BEATEN: Yes. And without cheating, either.

PHANTASY STAR II (Genesis)
DIFFICULTY: Very hard, but doable
REASONS: The dungeons are huge, taxing mazes, and most of the monsters in the last half of the game are incredibly strong; they can take and dish out alot of punishment! The Dark Force battle is frustrating. I cannot imagine anyone soloing this game.
ADVICE: Level Shir up to level 10 exactly and keep going in the control tower in Paseo until she disappears. She'll have stolen a visaphone for you. It really pays off to make maps of the levels, of course. When fighting the last two bosses, use a team of Rudo, Rolf, Anna, and Amy. have Rudo attack, Rolf throw out Nafoi or Nathu until he runs out of TP (have him attack then), Amy use Sashu technique, and Anna use the Color Scarf as an item. You might have to heal, but when that happens, have Rolf and/or Rudo use Star Mists or Trimates. Eventually, Anna's Color Scarf will make your characters make their moves before the boss does; you don't need to use it anymore after that. Amy still might go after the boss has attacked, but still don't try to improve her speed; chances are you'll have won by the time her agility is good enough.
BEATEN: Yes, with a team of Rolf (level 31), Rudo (level 2Cool, Amy (level 27), and Anna (level 27).

Dynamite Headdy (Genesis)

DIFFICULTY: Not quite insane, but still pretty crazy.

REASONS: The game isn't really that bad, but the last couple of stages are really tough and the last boss is completely nuts (not nessecarily in a bad way... he was actually programmed really well).

ADVICE: The stages before the last boss just take a lot of practise, but are eventually doable.
For the last boss, you have to hope you get lucky with some of his attacks as well as think quickly, so you know which attack he uses before it hits you and get a good chance to dodge it..

BEATEN: by cheating, yes. I've been able to get to the last boss without cheating, but I could never beat him normally.

Boktai 2 (GBA)
DIFFICULTY:Frustrating
REASONS:Puzzles are really hard and the fact that [spoil:501b8bc4b7]they take your solar gun away at the beggining and make you use puny weapons like a sword[/spoil:501b8bc4b7]make it even harder
ADVICE:Use Walkthroughs and Dont Always Fight just Flee
BEATEN:No couldent ever beat it stuck on a puzzle havent gotten past it >_<

RocketKnight Adventures (SEGA Genesis)
Difficulty: Painfully tough
Reasons: Tough especially when you have to go up against boss characters.
Advice: Learn to determine what will your enemy will do
Beaten: I've beaten it in easy and medium difficulty but not hard... I don't want to think about how hard it can be if I did do it in hard level

Zombies ate my Neighbours

Difficulty: I'd say Infrickinsane

Reasons: Well first there's just trying to find the people your sapost to save. Then sometimes as soon as you find them they get killed and it's game over. Also there's the fact that you have to beat some monsters that will be very very hard to hit by normal means and even when you use the monster morphing potion it will still take like 4 minutes to kill just one!!!

Advice: Save the monster morphing potions for when you are forced to fight the sand worms and the giant spider and the final boss. Also don't ever realy on ? potions. Also start from the begining. You get no weapons from using the passwords

Beaten: Nope never. I've gotten so far as around level 43ish but that's by cheating

Dr.Chaos (NES)
DIFFICULTY: INSANE
REASONS:You can't find your way round in the mansion
ADVICE:Click on all the walls and doors
BEATEN:Yes but it was a LONG LONG time ago

I have zombies, beat it with passwords and have seen someone beat it start to finish. You do know that the bazooka and pandora's box are as good as the monster potion.

Ys (various systems)
DIFFICULTY: Not exactly difficult, but taxing
REASONS: The final level is WAY too long!
ADVICE:[/b Patience is the key.
BEATEN: No. Gave up after about the third floor while wandering blindly.

Might and Magic (NES)
DIFFICULTY: Ridiculously insane
REASONS: You only have like 1-8 HP at the start, which means you'll die in like 1-4 hits! Leveling up also takes forever, and it's hard to get money. It's a 3D maze RPG like Wizardry. Torches are jokes; they go out as soon as you make any move!
ADVICE: Use the search command after every battle and if you find a bag, have your robber open it. Then try to upgrade your weapons as quickly as possible.
BEATEN: Hell no! I couldn't even get past the first dungeon.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors isn't too hard...except for the last few levels, and especially the worm level!

the game had no continues (unless you got a million points) and so many different paths. the fantastic 4 section is just horrible.

I almost forgot about the Box but I tryed the Bazooka. It's good but not against the bosses sence it's far too slow and it almost always misses them

Yeah, Zombies Ate my Neighbors was difficult, but I did spend the time to sit through and play the entire game with no warps (except the secret code that lets you play level zero) and used about five monster potions to fight the evil Doctor Tounge. I don't know which were the worst enemies. The worms could be lured and doged as long as you stay near a place they cant get to, but they sure are hard to kill. The guys with chainsaws had a lot of health, but if they weren't in hedge mazes where you can get trapped, they wouldn't be so bad. I think that the Giant Babies were the worst ones. How on earth does something that enormous move so fast? And I swear, one of them took down my entire health bar without once allowing me to move. The big dissapointment for me though was that the bonus level after you beat Dr. Tounge, I wasn't able to get back to it. Either the code doesn't work, or I wrote it down wrong. It was a fun level though. [spoil:885e730dd9]You get to wander around the developer's studio where the game's development team has been eaten by Zombies. I think there's a martian weed there too. Can't remember what else there is.[/spoil:885e730dd9]

On a side note, Yay! Just saw an advertisement for a new Tim Burton film. Uses puppet-type animation like Nightmare Before Christmas. It's called Corpse Bride and it's out in September. I just had to say something.
