The Unloved Hamster - A Short Comic Story (OA)

Something that just occurred to me... in case any of you want to give this story a twist in which the hamster comes out on top, have you ever seen that episode of Fairly Oddparents where Timmy's hamster comes back to life? He wishes everything in his mother's garden would be full of life, which included the buried and deceased body of his old pet hamster that died when he went off to summer camp (camp... camp...). The zombie hamster runs around trying to kill whoever's responsible for not feeding him.

Another thing I also just recalled... part of the inspiration for this story came from an episode of Futurama that always stuck in my head. It's the one where Fry finds his fossilized dog from his time, and he prepares to revive it. Hardships here and there until he finally prepares to do it... and then notes that the dog lived a long life after Fry before dying. He assumed the dog had moved on and forgotten him since Fry disappeared back when, so he refuses to revive the dog. It then shows the dog, waiting in the same spot for years and years and years, waiting for Fry to return, until it died.

Very, very sad... especially for a show like Futurama. It had just come on a day or two before I decided to draw this comic, and I wanted to hit Boris and Beatrice with something that would, hopefully, stick in their head... and onto their hearts... like that Futurama episode does to me.

Oh, and regarding Peach Fuzz... 'can't say I've ever read it, though it's nice to see a winner of the Rising Stars of Manga contest actually get their own series (like they were all supposed to since the first contest).

Yeah the end of that always gets me. But I showed this to a friend of mine and she was really touched by it. Cause it really is increadibly touching.

Wow... when I first saw the title of this comic, I thought it would be funny or something. Guess that means never trust first impressions.
This was really deep, and really touching. I liked it a lot, and it was well-drawn. Hope things work out for 'Boris.' And that was just straight out mean of Beatris.

This is a multitude of emotions all rolled up into one well-drawn comic. The art is cute, the mood is sad, and the moral is very deep and makes me think even harder about romance, and maybe life in general. I don't blame Boris for being devoted to Beatrice; in the end, it's Beatrice who should really be feeling the pain. You've turned out a very well-drawn and meaningful comic.

Thanks... and thanks to everyone's compliments. I'm fairly proud of this little comic. Maybe I'll rewrite it... or maybe even write a new one... one day, except this time, make the deeper meanings "graspable" by the general audience (instead of having to know the backstory to get them).

On a side-note... Boris finally saw the comic. He immediately knew who was who and what it was about. He got everything about Beatrice, but he completely skimmed over the moral for himself. I explained it all to him, but I don't really know his opinion on it yet. (He's not mad or anything, though, which was one of my apprehensions.) I couldn't get together with him last night (we talked over the net), so... meh.

As for Beatrice? She commented about it on my LiveJournal. She reacted exactly as I thought she would... completely missed the point and freaked out about the "cuteness" of it. (Completely. Missed. The Point.)

"aww! omigod! that reminds me! marblez ... my poor wittle hamster! i love her! but she bit me :( and i haven't really played that much with her. i wanna buy her some things like that big ball they can run around in but i haven't gotten the chance to go to beckley to get one ... ugh ... *goes and loves on marbles*"

So, apparently, the only moral she got was to stop neglecting her hamster. *sigh* You win some, you lose some...

though I hate to be the one giving out advice but
heres what you probabley should do

get Beatrice and Boris together
in real life at someoness house
Beatrice's House, Boris's House,Your House
and pull up three chairs (one for Beatrice one for Boris and one for you)
and go into a room a enclosed room (one with a door and a window or two)
and basically tell them the entire backstroy of it so they realise everything that theve done wrong or right then get them to agree on a time to stay in there and just talk or do anything then leave take your chair and lock the door behind you
and have them do anything until certain time is up and do anything you want or they after plus you can add some things to the room like snacks
or drinks or even a meal for two so yeah the entire point is to get them to talk about their relationship and uh dont put them in a room filled with distractions so dont put them in a room that has a tv in it or if you have a little brother a room filled with toys or a phone infact get them to turn off their cellphones and make sure one dosent leave on the other unless its a personal matter so stay by the door im not sure if youl use this advice at all because I justt thought it up at this very moment
and sorry for any spelling mistakes
