|
|
I'm sure we're all familiar with Megaman Sydrome, if only not by name. You know how it goes at the beginning of the nexr game in the series Megaman has somehow lost all of the upgrades and whatnot he came across in previous games. So, how would you go about justifying this change?
There are two ways I can think of, one being far more likely than the other =P
The first and least likely is Netto/Lan sells all of his upgrades and chips. Think about how much money he could get for some of them. How much would you] pay for something like a Forte chip? Netto/Lan must be rich...
The other case would be the Officals confiscate them. Perhaps they find Netto/Lan holds too much power for a civilian with them and require he hand them over. The theory I favour is the Officals manage to develope some for of antiviral software or thing and wish to remove all traces of the viruses, including their chips. This would also account for how some viruses only make one of two game appearances. How many Gaia's or Rattons are there in MMBN4? |

There are a lot of Gaias in MMBN4. XD
Firstly, I assume that the story doesn't take into account anything that isn't vital to it. This means going after Forte, doing Serenade's time trials, etc doesn't ever actually occur. I also assume that a lot of the chips and items aren't actually obtained in the story view of things. Taking these minor alterations into account, I assume that the rest of the world (viruses, Navis, etc) are also upgrading just as much as Rockman does over time. So, instead of keeping his upgrade and then having to make vastly more powerful bosses, they reduce his abilities for the next game. He's still just as powerful, it's just that everything else is getting more power with him. This avoid having to give Rockman 3000-4000 or more HP and and buster stats well over 20. If they did, Navi bosses would be running around with 10,000 HPs ore more these days. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

lol, bad example then =P I guess I'll leave it for others to get laught at, I rather dislike it when people edit out stupid things in their posts that others have already commented on. Meh, I haven't play the games for ages. Well, maybe not ages, only a few months but it's still like 4% of my life there.
Of course even without taking all those extra 'side quest' type things it still doesn't cover what happenned to his Magneman and Clownman chips. Although the upgrade thing is far more likely than the Officals taking everything. Of course I can still come up with even less likely cases than that =P |

As for the chips...
Netto: "Mama, have you seen all my rare and uber-powerful chips?"
Haruka: "Chips? I believe I sold them to Higure-san so I could buy you this brand new PET!"
Netto: "A new PET?! Awesome! Thank you so much, mama!"
Rockman: "Great, my weapons get sacrificed so Netto can have the latest trend..." _________________

Well, that doesn't take in account EXE2, but still it's plausable.
In BN3, you could say He left his chips in the PTS _________________

I have a theory as well. I think that becasue Netto has received a different PET every game since EXE2, there must be some loss of upgrade data when transfering Rock's data from the old PET to the new PET, while only the mandatory data (like Rock's programming itself and his fighting abilties) are kept. _________________

Indeed. That's my theory.
For the chips...we know Lan is a bit scatterbrained...eh. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! From Television City in Hollywood! It's time to 'Press Your Luck!'--Rod Roddy

I think his weapons don't actually weaken, but everything else gets stronger so fast that they have to readjust the scale and all the numbers drop in proportion. Kinda like how when you get into thousands of meters in metric, you convert the numbers to kilometers but the length is still the same.
For example, let's have a theoratical situation where Navis get so powerful that some of them have 20000 HP, and nobody has less than 1000 HP. So, instead of letting these numbers get increasingly bigger until it takes an hour just to write out all the zeros, they define a 'new HP unit' that is equal to 10 old HP units. And as everything adjusts to this new standard, every Navi's HP gets a zero knocked off the end of it, although they're still just as powerful.
Similarly, by that time, everybody and their brother has buster stats of at least 5 in every stat so they redefine a new stat point that's equal to 5 old stat points. You get the idea.
As for chips, as everything else becomes more advanced, the old chips still stay the same and thus their strength greatly pales in comparison. Kinda like old graphics cards, or even really old CPUs. Under the new HP scale, Cannons do 4 damage, Recovery50s only heal 5 HP, and Dream Auras protect against all of 20 damage. Not very useful anymore, ne? So, nobody wants them, and everybody tosses them because they can't find any other way to get rid of all that junk.
And viruses have the simplest explanation of the bunch. They evolve just like animals, with the weaker versions getting deleted and wiped out by Navis while the stronger versions can at least live long enough to reproduce. And under that new scale, Mettaur 2's become Mettaur 1's, Mettaur 3's become 2's, etc. _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x].

My theory for all that stuff is that the whole cyberworld goes through regular updates that render old battlechips, customizations, and so on obsolete. It'd be sort of like how some programs don't work after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2.
This could explain many things - it explains why Lan "loses" all his powerful battle chips between games (the more powerful the chip, the more complicated its programming and the more likely that some part of that programming will be incompatible with the current version of the cyberworld), it explains why Megaman loses all the incredible beefing-up gained in whatever game came before (if powerful chips require complex programming, so do powerful upgrades), it explains why some battle chips and viruses don't show up in some games (something that's easy to program for one version of the cyberworld might not be as easy to program for the next version), it even explains some scenery changes (if the cyberworld gets upgraded, some things will look different). |

Wouldn't that mean he could find them? Your theory is plausible, but has to many holes in it. _________________

MY idea is that He changes PETS every game right?
The PET's alll have different kinds of chips right?
They all aren't compatable with each other. so he locks them up in his room somewhere or....gives them away or throws them away.
Thats just my idea |

Interesting. Maybe some of these upgrades also delete all the power-ups and stuff, similar to the board move. Megaman could've lost his power-ups the way we all lost our post counts and stuff. The upgrades may be incompatible with the chips that were compatible with the previous setup due to different programming, like how the GBA Pokemon games can't connect with the older ones.
It could also have to do with the different PET designs. I know this was already said, but there was no explanation about what happened between the first two games, since they use the same PET. My guess here is that it either has something to do with HubBatch, or they're actually different PET versions that just look the same. |

Netto:Enzan! I bet you that Rockman can beat 300 navis at the same time!
Rockman*O__O()*
Enzan:Deal, If I win, I get all your battle chips.
*20 minutes later*
Netto*crying on the ground*It's not fair!
Enzan*adds chips to collection*I win again. |
