I used to prefer both shounen and shoujo anime/manga equally, but now I'm more of a shounen fan. Shoujo can get too cutesy and luvly-duvly and sometimes follows the real world too close for me...give me fighting card games over a billion pages of angsty romance anyday. It's not to say I DON'T like shoujo; I simply like shounen better. Not brainless, mindless, kiddie shounen, mind you, *coughPokecrapcough*, but more like the manga that runs in Shonen Jump--lots of action, but also very philosiphical (SP) and emotion-oriented.
Edit: Damnation, how do you get a poll? ?_? _________________ Seto Kaiba owns my soul. Ph33r. |

I like just about anything, including some "kiddie shounen" :P Just depends on what I feel like reading/watching.
Though, more often than not, I do prefer comedy over drama, so that's really the only thing I decide by.

I suppose my favorites are shonen, but sometimes it can be hard to tell what's really considered shonen or shoujo. Like, I'm pretty sure Fruits Basket is shoujo and I think Video Girl Ai is as well. I'm almost positive that His and Her Circumstances is shoujo. However, I favor Evangelion, Inuyasha, Last Exile, Gad Guard, and I'm pretty sure those fall into a shonen classification. _________________ Church: Are you following any of this?

I don't know about either. But judging by your guys' descriptions, I'd pick shounen. _________________

Lately, I myself have been reading Shoujo more than Shounen. I guess I just like the stories more. Then again, action with a purpose is good too. >>
I'll pretty much watch/read anything that interests me. =/ _________________ ^High GPA manipulative little MegaMan lover.^

You know, not all Shoujo is angsty romance stuff, seems pretty ignorant to automatically assume so.
Although, it is true that more Shoujo is angsty romance than isn't and nearly all Shoujo has at least some romance, but the latter applies to both genres.
Some Shoujo shows even focus more on action or the other way around (for example, X, DN Angel and Sailor Moon are all Shoujo manga that focus on action, while I belive that Midori no Hibi is supposed to be Shounen and there's little action in it at all and most sports anime are Shounen.)
After what I said though, I prefer Shounen.
Something about little electric monsters, angry midgets and flashy special attacks really appeals to me
Edit: Also, what's with the over a billion pages thing? There's a lot more long Shounen manga then there are Shoujo

as long as the plot interests me, I'm good. Besides, I like anime blood and plot, yet most of my favorite mangas are children's manga XD _________________

I prefer shounen. Although, from what I've seen (which isn't a lot), shoujo seems to have more graphic and violent scenes. I don't like the stories nor the art of shoujo, though. _________________

Yeah I'm like that too. If it doesn't bore me or annoy me, I'll watch it. Shoujo is another story though. It's a 50/50 chance that I'll either A: watch and regret it later in life(Sailor Moon) or B: watch it and love it. (Cardcaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew/Mew Mew Power) |

Going by Shounen/Shoujo technicalities, it would be Shounen.
More specifically, it's a harem anime, which is basically another (more perverted ) branch of Shounen. |
