The story, symple. The year, heck. I don't even know... Feudal Japan in the Edo era. Everything seems to be at peace. Edo town progresses as expected. Proud and rightful towards the new era.

The rest of the world seems to the the same. Ghouls, goblins, ghost towns, island turtles, everything is ta peace........ until....

... from the pits of Darkness, comes the greatest evil world has even known... Bismaru, the evil nun. The one who has swored to turn the land of Japan and the world into a land where love and flowers bloom happily, everyone believes in the principles of goodwill and love, and an infinite dotation of lemonade......... PURE EVIL!!! And not just her, but the Demon king, Dochuki, Margaret Ranko, and many more villains.

But of course, to stop her, a small team of chosen ones (Well, they are supposed to be...)

Goemon: Experienced Ninja living at Edo town. His skills have earned him the name of Mystical Ninja. (Well, he says so.) he has saved the day many times, and uses his magical pipe to whack enemies up their a***s.

Ebisumaru: The blue ninja of justice. (Personal title. Everyone else calls him obnoxious fat sissy Ninja thief.) Standing to be different, his point of view of the world is.... what we can call... cheerful... He lives with is best friend in the wholewide world, Goemon. He has done his part in saving the day many times, like finishing Dochuki with his powerful finishing scent blow. (If you know what we mean...) His ninjitsu skills allow him to lots of stuff. Including beaating the record 250 dumlpling plates at the local teahouse. From his travels, he found out that he had a baby daughter called Mao.

Sasuke: Created by the Wiseman "Wiseman", this little ninja robot if fueled by green tea. His skills are awesome in acrobatics. His head falls off when he falls asleep, and the most interesting detail about him, is that he has a switch on his back wich either switches from Good and Evil modes.

Yae: The green beauty. This skilled Kunoichi has the great skill of Ninjitsu of turning into a mermaid. She is a reliable source of info to Goemon and gang, and she also puts herself in the battlefield.

These 4 are a bomb when fighting the enemy. But when the enemies decide to use the heavy artillery with gigantic robots and mosters, it is time to call on to...

Impact: The land's protector gigantic robot. This 50 story impersonation of Goemon comes on his rollerskates and his gigantic pipe. Only two pilots can pilot it. He is mostly piloted by Goemon and Ebusimaru. From the skills of this collosal, they include machine gun ounch, coin gstling from his nose (Yes, his nose.) And the deadly mouth Hyper Beam. He is best friends with Sasuke, and chat a lot in the Wiseman's lab.

Ms. Impact: The female version of Impact introduced in Ganbare Goemon: Derodero Douchu Obake Tenkomori. Or Goemon's great adventure. This 45 story impersonation of Goemon's sweetheart, Mitsu, rocks as Impact. She has the same skills, and seems to share a close relationship with Impact. Mostly piloted by Sasuke and Yae.

In the games, IMPACT BATTLES ARE AWESOME!!! There are punches, kicks, hyper beams and just brutal force.

Always after saving the day, the group takes a relaxing stay at the local hotel in the 1st class room with free drinks, a spa and more.

The mechanic of the games is travelling in the area map alongside stages. And collect Passes from each stage to open the gate to the area's castle, where the boss of the area is. And then, have the Impact Battle of the area. And go on to the next.

So far, most of the games are of the old generation. The classic feudal japan and their most popular and longlasting look.

After that, we got the unreleased PS2 game which shows the members in a more taller and younger identity.

And the newsest japan only, Gambare Goemon: The new generation. Where the characters are revamped for the year 200X's expectations.

Goemon: This boy uses his pipe to whack enemies. He seems to have something with Ebisu.

Ebisu: The equivalent of Ebisumaru. This cheerful innocent ninja girl uses a hammer to deliver it to enemies.

Sasuke MKII: The new model of the ancient Sasuke. This new model had stretchable arms and still uses his trademark Kunais.

Yui: The equivalent of Yae. This sexy ninja can turn herself into a Mermaid as her Old generation self.

And the impacts, of course look more like Gundamd or any other Anime mech.

I've heard tons of Goemon. But i've never really gotten into it. I've always wanted to try the first few games and the later games that I hear are RPGs (Or RPG like) It's a shame quite a few of the games never get translated

Well, the ones that got translated so far are the first SNES two N64 games. And RPG mechanic you say? I think you mean the DS game.

The fun part of it, is that you command Impact with the touch screen. Yay!

Hmm my cousin played the 64 game a few times. Seemed pretty fun. But the new game, it has a girl instead of the fat guy?

I'm quite a fan of the series Smile

Wish more of them would come out here... only around 6 or 7 of them ever came out here, but there's a ton over in Japan and some of them are really good.

Which if course, people can play them thanks to the wonder of emulation. (I got the 4 snes games).

For real console, I had Great Adnevture. But I always wanted to play the original 64 one.

Shin Goemon was crap. Pure crap.

The characters look like they stepped off the first boat from "Bad Design Island." Goemon looks like he just jumped off Digimon. Sasuke pretty much looked the same. Yae became a *cough*....and Ebisumaru became a girl with a crush on Goemon? Uh...no...kthxbai to you Shin Goemon.

Seriously, that and the bad controls and etc made me want to kill my PSX (Even though it did that itself a month afterwards -__-)

Oh, the PS2 version was even better! [/x-treme sarcasm]

Seriously, the designs were better, but being a 1st gen PS2 game it was polygons galore and Glitch Central. At least Goemon got a tiger cub Sad

I watched the first volume of the anime, but I never looked for other volumes to watch. I really wanted to do so too.

I want to look for a copy of Legend of the Mystical Ninja for N64, but it's very rare.

I don't mind the new designs... they took a bit of getting used to, but overall I like Goemon's and the new character they introduced for it was pretty good too IMO..
I really, really hate Sasuke's new design though. >_<
GBA game wasn't that bad either IMO, just really, really short.

Also, Ebisumaru still exists, I remember seeing a shot of him from the PS2 game.

I meant that he does still exist in the new generation, even though he basically has a replacement. I believe he gets a cameo in the PS2 game at one point.

Anyhow... the PS2 game did get released, but Sony rejected the english version when Konami wanted to bring it here for a reason I don't remember.

I don;t know if it is really good fanart or not, but I have seen images of other Impacts for Ebi-Chan, Sasuke-Kun and Yae. (She is so serious that she doesn't get her own name.)

But of course, as far as I know the only real Impacts are Impact and Miss Impact. And of course, the enemy's gigant mechs. (Bismaru's is really evil with those puppy eyes...)

Anyway, Impact? Impact? Really fun in those levels where he eats the characters and hop on the cockpit. Then go on a rally of small enemies destroying half of town to reach the enemy mech. Ha ha, I so love that one. Look at me! I'm piloting a gigantic robot with roller skates!!! MWA HA HA HA!!!

But it got better in Great Adventure. I loved the main command tagging between the tw impacts, and the pretty nasty combos with the two of them im 2P mode. Let the enemy get close, use a gatling punch and finish it with a kick, the other hits the enemy if he reaches the other player, the enemy bounces back, and attack with gatling punch again. Repeat and repeat until the enemy is dead. Very goos strategy to build your energy gauge too. And finish things off with a Hyper Beam! MWA HA HA Laughing

Oh! And I got some nice Goemon graphic art if you wanna see it. :]
