Well, for myself, I got a small list according to my fanmade game which brought the storyline for my X fic.
-Capcom, the 3D looks fancy and all, but it doesn't beat the feeling of a nice classic 2D. So drop the 3D characters and bring a mix. See how Capcom Vs. SNK 2 or the Strider Hiryu PSX game works? (Really cool 2D sprites with shading and everything with a nice ammount of frames per second and detailed 3D backgrounds in 2D scrolling) well, do it like that.
-Add Ala EXE emotion windows. From them, you can see whter your character is doing good, or doing bad. This might add some sort of special skill depending on your emotional status. In the case of Mavericks, add them too. And Ala X8, Make even worse attacks as their HP keeps decreasing. And make them look angrier or change their look slightly.
-Keep the 2 member tagging, but add more sprites for when characters switch places. Example, time freezes, Zero arrives, Zero and X clack wrists, and X leaves. Or, Axl arrives, X and Axl do a high five for tagging and X leaves.
-Use more flashy special effects. Like a very shiny ahine for the charge shot, or shiny boosting for the dashing systems when dashing with wind surrounding the character and everything.
-Don't be lazy, and ADD opposite direction sprites like Metroid when shooting in other direction.
-Bring back the Skill Chip system like in X5 and X6.
-Keep multiple weapons for Zero and Axl.
-Bring X's saber back!!! And add multiple combos.
-New skill for Zero. Whatever Dance of the northen gods means in Japanese for an attack ala Marth and Roy in SMBM with the directional buttons and the skill button.
-Link up Zero's moves for nice and creative combos.
-Rescue Reploids on each stage as before.
-Bring DrkZero back this time as a key character in the storyline and not as a cameo. And if you can, DrkX and DrkAxl to couple up.
-NEW!!! Use a very well based Fusion skill system. If both characters are alright, and the double attack gauge is full, you can either use the Double attack, or fuse your characters. Time freezes, the other character arrives, and with a small dialog like "Let's do it." "Alright!" Both characters beam away, one beams in, but doesn't materialize, the other beams too, but ON the unmaterialized character, and the result if the fusion of both. Three new fusion character are created, and according to the combination, the skills of the character. But of course, time limit before the fusion breaks.

X only got the Saber in X6 becuase it was Zeros and i really dont have any ideas for a better way to inprove the X series but a few
1.Bring back the four E tanks (X 1-3)
2.Give the game more plot then just OMG theres some mavericks lets go kill them and whats this SIGMAS BEHIND IT (good thing X8 was different)
3.Harder Levels

Yeah, but Zero got his new saber as well, See the differenct between his old and new saber? The old one, which X kept in the whole X6 was the old one that only shows up when taking an action. Zero's NEW saber keps ignited even if no movement was taken between attacks.
The point, X kept Zero's old saber while Zero got a new one from his repair. And what would have happened? Would Zero have 2 sabers? Too much for my eyes!!! I say X keeps it and Zero teaches X how to use it.
ALSO, Noticed with the Balde Armor? The saber hilt is different. As well for the Shadow amor. So that means Capcom had the purpose of sticking X with the saber. _________________ This is my Sig Image. Didnt X get Zero's Sabre in X3? When you do the Vile Side-Quest in one of the levels, have all tanks etc, let zero die in certain mini-boss fight. |

i know a nice addition:
Add the Weil/Omega/Elf Wars in the X-series, since according to Cyberelf-X, Zero and he both fought in the Elf wars and either both or X fought Dr Weil.
It would be a nice continuation for the Zero series. |

It's a matter of taste. I like sprites. I also see nothing wrong with the 3D of X8. Either would be fin to me, so long as the game itself was a 2D sidescroller, like X8 was.

Graphics are not everything. I'd prefer good gameplay over something shiny.

Cross Fusion killed the EXE Anime. Fusion in the X Series would probably end up doing the same. Leave it to the Reploids were were meant to merge (Bit and Byte, for example).
The only thing I want to see for the next X Series game is the concept used in Gigavolt Man-O-War's stage dropped forever. That stage was annoying and in no way fun to play. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

Like PlaguedOne, I don't mind either sprites nor the 3D models of X8. However, the problem with sprites is that, let's face it: they'd be horribly outdated in a time where we have these super consoles that can portray all the wrinkles in a man's clothes.
I've always loved the X series gameplay, there's not too much I'd actually nitpick about that except for the lack of a duck in X8. I miss ducking and I actually attempted it a lot only to be disappointed that I COULDN'T duck and suffered a hit or two. I'd probably want some story related and character related adjustments if anything...so I'll just copy and paste my suggestions from another forum.
Even though I don't support Axl hogging the spotlight, I believe those turn of events at the end of X8 suggests he may have something big coming. I don't think being struck by Lumine was exactly benign or something to explain the white Axl you can play as later (although it was a cute bonus). I just want this to be wrapped up in the most dramatic way possible=P
As usual, I just wish for a longer game and if Sigma comes back despite Lumine's speech, that the final, FINAL battle against him should be more miserable (as in pitiful, not sucky) or climactic.
Just another dumb note, but I always wondered why a boss would just blow up and fade away into nothing. I just wish they'd show some carnage, bosses in a heap of scrap, or scattered about, whatever. Something.
Also, Capcom should try harder and compensate for the sub-par Tidal Makoeen design from X5 with a bigger, better, more beastly whale Maverick, maybe without back legs this time.
And where in God's green earth is Douglas? What happened to Gate? Life Saver?

Gate died, I think. I have no idea what happened to Life Saver and Douglas. Here's one of my ideas: Make X's armors a little less powerful. Seriously, once you get his armor, he pwnz everything, and you hardly ever use the other characters. _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

I'll share my desires for the X Series future, but some of you may not like some of my wishes.
-Go back to 2D. I miss the amazing detail on the sprites such as in X4-X6. In those games you could actually see the light glistening off of X's armor.
-Make Tag Team optional. I miss the days when X and Zero would actually do their own fighting and not rely on another to help them take a single maverick.
-Redesign Axl or drop him all together. And when I say redesign, I mean both mentally and physically. I am sick of his high and mighty attitude and his appauling design is not something I want to stick with all throughout a game for every game.
-Make better level designs. X7 and X8 have some of the the most boring and depressing backgrounds I have seen any Rockman/megaman. I don't care if the X Series is supposed to be "dark". X1-X4 had more livily and vivid stages.
-Better music. The music in the older games was mad awesome and expressed the mood and feeling of an already well-designed stage. The music in the recent games lack any emotion.
-Better reploid designs. Put away "Easy-Reploid" and actually put some thought and detail into the designs. Alot of the recent main character reploids look as if Capcom just took a basic reploid body frame and redesgned it (Gate, Dynamo, Lumine, High Max, Axl, Alia) and don't get me started on some of Command Mission's designs. Scarface and Massimo and their spandex-ish looking bodies. Is it really that hard to design detailed reploids like the ones from X1-X4?
-Create an alternate timeline that branches away from the Zero Series. Yes fans wnat to see the connection to the Zero Series, but this limits the potential of the X Series to just fitting it into the Zero Series. Capcom will eventually have to incorporate elements of the Zero Series into the X Series, and prevent the X Series from reaching fresh new story elements. Or alternately, if Capcom must connect the X-Series to the Zero Series, then another division of Capcom (Preferably CS2) could continue the X series, following the "Maverick Zero" arc of X5.
-More fanservice. They brought back Vile for X8, so I'd like to Iris again in some shape or form, be it in an actual body or in a Dream of Zero's or whatever.
-Back to the original artistic style of the previous X games (X1-X7). I do not like X's CM look or his X8 look.

I agree with that the most. I also agree with bringing back the chips from X5, X6, and Xtreme 2. They also need to have a real plot to stick by and finish off the series =\. I'm getting tired of the barely and plot thing. Why can't they make games take place more closer to each other? I kinda want to see the series come to an amazingly awesome climax =\. Dynamo or another big villian in one of the games would be a good thing to bring back. The series needs some more re-occuring rivals (Zero series does this well). Oh, and bringing back multiple armors for X would be cool =3. _________________

First, The perfect X game would have to have animated cut scenes, like in MMX4.
I like the 3D side scrolling in X8, and X7 was also OK. But, what I'd really like to see, is 2D sprites, all Hi-res, like the Guilty Gear X games. And maybe have a new bad guy. And have like stories that carry through a couple of the games, kinda like X5 and X6.
One more thing, X armor designs, need to get better. I really don't like the look of X's armor in X8.
And X needs to stop being all whiny about, 'I don't wanna fight, but I guess I got to.' |

Agreed, the recent reploid designs have been kinda blah for the most part.
I also agree that they should start wrapping up the series soon or else they might move on to another series (and with the possiblity of a Rockman Axl recently revealed it seems possible) and the X series will end up without a sense of finality like the origonal series.
I'd also like at least one more tie in to the origional series since we haven't had any since X6 (I'd also like to find out what the deal was with Isoc but I guess that's never going to happen). |

The problem is that X8's music is just emotionless. Compare the intro stage themes of X2 and X3 to the intro stage theme of X8. The themes for the X2 and X3 seem lively and vigorous, as if it was gearing you up for a big battle, whereas X8's intro stage theme just seems so dead. Compare Cyper Peacock's theme to Optic Sunflower's. Peacock's theme captures the beauty of the stage, as if I could feel the nature of the area I was exploring. Sunflower's theme just repeats what little music there is except for the simulation areas, and that music just sucked. Simply put it's as if whoever wrote the music for the X1-X4 was very enthusiastic about his music, putting his heart and soul into his music. Whoever wrote the music for X8 was just writing something to go with the stage.
IMO, only a few of X8's tracks are good, and even then they don't measure up to say X4. X4's music not only conveys that strong feeling to it, it's pretty prodominent with it. In fact, there's not a single track in X4 that I don't like, every piece illustrated part of the ambience of the stages and respective situations. X8's music doesn't do that. And I can say the same for X7 and CM as well as X8. |

The Perfect rockman X was made 12 years ago... Rockman X for the Super Famicom, it is the best of X, and almost the best of ALL rockman games imo, no.1 being RM2.
RMX7 had plenty of good music imo, Axel's intro theme, Underground Base(Gungaroo) and Radio Tower(Tonion) were quite cool and OOH MY GAWD! Sigma's 'Fate' theme pawned all! and Relation(red battle) was majestic aswell.

Well there aren't many other good villians besides him XD. What we really need is iX and/or Return-X. As for why I don't really like X8's music that much, it's the same reason as Aqua Rock's. _________________
