Whew! I just got back from the Onyx Ice Arena where I was skating for a full hour!! I'm feeling acomplished (because I just mastered a two-foot spin!! :]) and I will post chapter seven for your enjoyment, because I might not be on cuz my mom's throwing a party.(WAHOO!! :] I'm gonna pull an all nighter Majahong!!! Chapter 7:
BREAK OUT THE VACCINES!!!

KATYA

I whipped the protective goggles off my eyes and yelled,

“I got it guys!”

Lauren was quiet for a while.

At the same time we asked each other,

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

Fuyuki and Ralph yelled,

“YES!”

Ralph started out,

“There was a chemical spilled on everyone, right?”

I nodded and added,

“So, if we could get a sample of the chemical…”

Lauren chimed in,

“Then we could analyze it to see what it’s made up of…”

Fuyuki finished,

“Then we’d be able to compose a vaccine of chemicals that oppose those of the virus!!!”

I asked,

“So how’s a bunch of kids like us gonna get our paws on very dangerous chemicals?”

Fuyuki replied,

“You forgot that at least one of each of our parents works for SciLab, am I correct?”

Lauren replied,

“Yeah, you are, but can we please cut all the dramatic shit?”

Ralph asked,

“Please, do cut the crap.”

Fuyuki and I said in unison,

“Oh, shut up!”

Minarai asked,

“Why haven’t I gotten to speak yet?”

Lauren yelled,

“GET OUT OF HERE!!! YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN THIS SCENE!!!”

NETTO

I flopped down on my bed and exclaimed,

“It’s not fair Rockman! We never get to do anything anymore!”

Rockman told me dully,

“With your grade-point average, I can see why.”

I was about to yell at my sarcastic navi when a voice inside my head moaned,

“Help…me…help me!”

I asked,

“Rockman, do you hear that too?”

He asked,

“Hear what?”

I replied awestruck,

“I’m…not so sure myself. There was a voice calling out to me, it was asking for help.”

Rockman laughed and told me,

“Maybe YOU’RE the one that needs help!”

I sighed angrily and said,

“Never mind you, Rockman. I’m going to Meiru’s.”

I stormed off saying,

“The nerve of my brother!!!”

I walked around a dark, sad looking place.

I thought to myself,

<This looks slightly like the Kingdom of Sorrow…>

I pouted and said,

“I’m bored, Leorina!!!”

Leorina sighed and told me angrily,

“Deal with it.”

I asked,

“Can we at least go A LITTLE faster??”

She replied,

“No. We cannot risk passing the ring up, Tat.”

I heaved a large sigh and asked,

“Well, aside from the ring, what are we supposed to be looking for?”

Leorina didn’t look at me but answered,

“Klonoa and the other Lunatean survivors.”

I asked,

“Are you serious?!”

Leorina answered,

“About as serious as the fact that we’re stranded here.”

I sighed and said sarcastically to myself,

“Oh, joy.”

FUYUKI

I asked,

“So, this sky blue liquid is the cure?”

Katya nodded and replied,

“Yep! Now, give me your arm.”

“WHAT?!”

I screamed.

She rolled her eyes and sighed before saying,

“Extend your arm out, you idiot.”

I laughed and said,

“Heh heh, yeah, I knew that.”

I straightened my arm out in front of her.

She pulled out a syringe with the blue liquid in it and said,

“You probably won’t feel this at all, because of your navi abilities and strength.”

I watched as she stuck the needle of the syringe into my arm and pushed down, sending our experimental liquid into my bloodstream.

Before I knew it, I felt the venom in my mouth evaporate, and my skin revert to it’s original human flesh rather than scales. The last thing to disappear was my snake tail.

I yelled,

“IT’S A FRICKEN SUCCESS!!!”

Lauren asked,

“It worked?! All right!”

Ralph smiled and said,

“So now we can cure everyone, right?”

Lauren said seriously,

“There is one of us that needs this the most. Trill, please, go fetch your doggie friend.”

Trill smiled and said obediently,

“Aye aye, captain!!”

Before teleporting out of the room.

ROCKMAN

I sighed and said,

“Jeez, I shoulda went with Netto-kun.”

Something grabbed my hair.

I veered around to see Trill holding onto it.

I asked,

“What’s up, Trill?”

She smiled and said,

“The smartsy peoples wanna see you!”

I asked,

“Smartsy peoples?”

She replied,

“Ya know, Ralph, Katya, Lauren, and Fuyuki?”

I said,

“Oh. Alright then, lead the way.”

LAUREN

In a minute Trill came back with a Rockman standing next to her.

He asked,

“Uh, why are we at SciLab?”

Katya yelled,

“WRONG ANSWER!!!”

And stabbed the syringe into Rockman.

Fuyuki sweat-dropped and stated,

“Uh, Katya? Nobody asked him anything.”

She laughed and said,

“I know.”

I asked,

“Why am I narrating this part?”

ROCKMAN

I rubbed my arm and whined,

“Owie…that hurt Katya!!!”

She shrugged and said honestly,(I think,)

“I thought you could take it!”

I asked,

“Uh, how did I get a sudden growth spurt? And why are my ears and tail disappearing?”

Katya grinned and replied,

“This is the vaccine for the virus!”

I said excitedly,

“All right!! Now I’m taller than that hairball!!”

Lauren asked teasingly,

“I’m guessing some dogs and cats just DON’T get along now, do they?”

I muttered,

“Oh shut up and get the others.”

LAUREN

I trotted alongside Fuyuki as we walked down the sidewalk leading to the Hikari household.

Fuyuki chirped,

“It’s always nice to see my brothers happy.”

I smiled and thought to myself,

<He’s unusually peaceful right now. Maybe it’s because we made Rockman happy?>

Fuyuki asked,

“How’d you know?”

I questioned a little startled,

“How can you hear my thoughts?”

He laughed and asked,

“What, you thought you were the only mind reader in this fanfiction?”

I nodded and answered,

“Well, sorta…”

He smiled all happy-ish and said,

“Eh, let’s not talk about that right now! Anyway, we’re here!”

He opened the front door to his house and stepped back, before saying all chirpy,

“Ladies first!”

I blushed and muttered,

“Fuyuki-chan scares me when he’s nice!”

FUYUKI

I called out,

“Netto-kun!!!”

My mother walked over and said,

“Oh, Fuyuki, you’re back. Netto just left for Meiru’s house.”

Lauren smiled and said,

“Thanks Mrs. Hikari!”

I also smiled and said,

“Yeah. Thanks mom!”

And ran out the door with Lauren trailing close behind me.”

MEIRU

I asked,

“Roll, how long has it been since we’ve seen Netto and Rockman?”

Roll shrugged and answered,

“I’m not so sure myself.”

As my feet dragged along the dull pavement I sighed out of boredom and frustration.

I heard the footsteps of two people behind me.

Two voices in my head called out,

<Hey Netto-kun!!>

I turned my head to see Fuyuki and Lauren running towards me before I turned around all the way.

Fuyuki arrived first, followed by Lauren.

He took a couple seconds to catch his breath before saying excitedly,

“Netto-kun! We’ve got good news!”

I asked,

“Dekao’s dead?”

Lauren shook her head and replied,

“Err, no. What we were gonna say was that we found a cure for ChibiAnima!!”

I yelled out excitedly,

“ARE YOU FRICKEN KIDDING ME?!!”

Fuyuki shook his head and replied,

“Round up Meiru, Roll, Minarai, and Klonoa, cuz this is the real deal bro!!”

I asked,

“Why Minarai and Klonoa?”

Lauren replied,

“Because it’s not nice to leave people out of things.”

I nodded and said,

“Right. I’ll go get the others and meet you at SciLab!”

STARMAN

I asked,

“Er, Fuyuki-chan? What do we do now? All the navis have been restored to their PETs, as you can see clearly.”

Fuyuki scratched his head with a finger and said,

“I guess we should head over to SciLab now, or else we might be the last ones there.”

***

ENZAN

I walked alongside my friends silently as I thought of how to word a question.

“Hikari.”

Netto, Fuyuki, and Rockman all looked at me.

I released a frustrated sigh before saying,

“The YOUNGEST Hikari.”

Netto asked,

“What is it Enzan?”

“Just what exactly is going on?”

“Uh, what do you mean?”

I pointed behind me and informed him,

“You might wanna take a look behind you.”

NETTO

I turned my head and my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

Rockman looked at me and asked defensively,

“What?! I was bored!”

Fuyuki sighed and said humorously,

“It’s a surprise Enzan could even see a navi his height!”

Rockman growled, and yelled out,

“Shut the hell up Fuyuki!!”

I grinned and taunted,

“Ya know Rockman, the high pitched, squeaky voice sorta takes away from yer speech.”

He frowned and asked rhetorically,

“Has anyone gotten tired of these chibi jokes yet?! And are you forgetting the virus is gone and this is my normal voice?!!”

Everyone but him laughed and Enzan answered,

“Not exactly, Rockman.”

I thought for a second and questioned,

“Rockman, why and how did you get out of your PET?”

He grinned evilly, and the fact that he had fangs didn’t help too much.

He replied,

“One; I was bored.

Two; I have no clue how I got out.”

I pointed up ahead and exclaimed,

“We’re there!!!”

Before running off ahead and halting at the entrance to SciLab.

ROCKMAN

I tried to avoid the stares of many of the employees as I walked down the halls, clinging to Fuyuki’s arm.

Fuyuki shook his arm in an attempt to get me off before asking annoyed,

“Netto-kun, has Rockman ever done this before?”

Netto shook his head and replied,

“Not that I’ve seen anyway. Rockman, quit being such a big baby.”

Enzan pretended to be surprised, and asked,

“Really? He’s only acting? Because he sure as hell didn’t seem like it!”

I growled and asked,

“Are YOU calling ME a big baby?! I’m gonna kill you Enzan!!!”

Fuyuki grinned and said confidently,

“Well, he cries all the time now, he’s freaked out by every little thing, and he latches on to people’s arms. E-yup, he’s a big baby all right!”

I managed to trip Netto and make him fall to the ground.

I shouted,

“HELP!!! NETTO-KUN’S HAVING A HEART-ATTACK!!!!”

Yuiichiro ran down the flight of stairs leading to the lobby and yelled,

“What happened to Netto?!”

Fuyuki anime-sweatdropped and said,

“Er, dad? Dad? Uhhhhh, Netto’s not having a heart-attack. Rockman just shoved him down.”

Yuiichiro looked at me confused and asked,

“Rockman? Why are you in the human realm?”

I shrugged and explained,

“One; Saito.bat. Two; I was bored. Any other questions?!”

Fuyuki said halfway,

"Er, Rockman? Saito.bat didn't-"

Enzan looked kinda weird at me and told me,

“If I talked to MY father that way, I’d get killed!”

Fuyuki asked,

“Okay then. Ya want a question? WHEN ARE YA GONNA LET GO OF MY ARM DAMMIT?!!”

I looked at his arm and said in a calmer voice,

“Uh, I dunno.”

I remained latched onto his arm.

I heard a girls voice say,

“See? He’s so adowable, ain’t deh widdle guy!”

“Yeah, he is, isn’t he? Wait, haven‘t I met everyone all ready?”

Another voice agreed, and then asked.

I turned around to see Minarai and Lauren near the entrance, waving.

Lauren yelled,

“Hey guys!!”

Minarai said something and Lauren nodded.

She took Minarai’s PET and messed around with it a little before saying,

“ROCKMAN!!! We’re sending Klonoa out and we gave him the right to bite you if you’re mean!!!”

I sighed and said sarcastically,

“Nice…just peachy.”

A voice right behind me asked,

“What’s just peachy?”

I turned around again to see Klonoa standing there with an innocent look on his face.

Opened my mouth to insult him but Yuiichiro yelled,

“Lauren! Minarai! Get over here! All your other friends are waiting in my Lab!”

Both girls yelled,

“Okay!”

And ran over to where we were standing.

CYCLONE

I rolled my eyes and watched as my netop practically drooled over all the equipment in Yuiichiro’s lab.

I asked,

“Er, Katya? Why is it every time you come here you’re going crazy over the things in Yuiichiro’s lab?”

She looked down to my PET and asked,

“Did you say something, Cyclone?”

I anime-sweatdropped and replied,

“No Katya… -_-; ”

Roll poked me on the shoulder and asked,

“Is she always like this when it comes to technology?”

I laughed and replied,

“You kidding? I bet she’ll try to dissect the next thing Yuiichiro, or even ANYONE discovers or makes.”

Meiru asked,

“Roll, do you happen to know what time it is?”

Roll answered,

“Um, it’s, 15:24:52.”

MEIRU

I sighed and said,

“We’ve been waiting here for a half-hour now!”

And as if on cue, Yuiichiro walked in the room with Netto, Fuyuki, Lauren, Minarai, and Enzan.

It struck me there were two more people.

Well, navis to be exact.

Klonoa walked alongside Netto, while Rockman was clinging onto his arm.

FUYUKI

I screamed,

“HIKARI SAITO!!! GET OFF MY ARM RIGHT NOW!!!”

***

KATYA

Lauren whispered,

“Oo, he used the name Saito. You can tell he’s pissed!!”

I whispered,

“I know. I didn’t think he’d snap until now!”

Netto said excitedly,

“This is almost as good as a bunch of girls fighting in a bunch of Jell-O!”

I smacked him and said,

“Niiice, you sick pervert.”

Minarai whispered,

“Why are we whispering?”

At my normal voice volume, I replied,

“Beats me. We should be able to talk normal now, if the author agrees. -_-; ”

I shrugged.

ROCKMAN

I stared at my brother, horrified, still holding onto his arm.

I sobbed and said,

“Jeez! Ya don’t have to scream!”

I released his arm and said,

“You need to lighten up dude.”

Before turning the other way.

Katya, Minarai, and Lauren yelled,

“Rockman!!”

Yuiichiro said slightly annoyed,

“This isn’t the time to be messing around! Come to my lab!”

ROCKMAN

I silently trailed behind Fuyuki and Netto with my head hung low.

I muttered,

“Jeez, nii-san,

you nearly gave me a heart attack…”

Fuyuki looked at me a little pissed off and asked,

“Did you say something?”

I returned the pissed attitude by replying,

“What would make ya say that, Mr. Smarty-Head?”

He turned around after rolling his eyes and told me,

“Nothing…”

He asked himself quietly,

"What's a smarty-head?? -_-;"

I grinned and said to myself,

“This is so freakin exciting!”

I felt a light tug on my hair again, apparently because my ears were gone.

I asked,

“All right, who is it this time?”

I turned around to see a grinning Blues, his emerald eyes shimmering in the light.

He asked,

“What’s exciting?”

I questioned,

“Doesn’t this much light bother you, I mean, without yer helmet and all?”

He replied,

“Ne, I’m pretty used to it, but I-

…

Hey! Yer trying ta change the subject, ain’tchya doggie?”

I growled and said,

“Yer acting unusually childish today, Blues.”

BLUES

I pretended to look offended and asked,

“What? It’s suddenly illegal for me ta have just a little bit o’ fun? Jeez, dog-dude, you take life tooooooo seriously!”

Rockman snorted and said,

“Oh, and Fluffy’s one to talk!”

I look at him and yelled,

“NOBODY CALLS ME FLUFFY EXCEPT FOR RHYTHM!!!”

A strong force grabbed my neck and right away I asked,

“ACK. Trill, can we PLEASE wait ‘till we’re in the freakin lab?”

Trill released her grasp on my neck and said lovingly,

“Okay, Kitty!”

She tugged on my cat ears and said,

“Why das ya wanna gets rid of deese?”

I replied,

“Because it hurts when you tug on them. I fed up with the cat jokes, anyway.”

She put an arm around my shoulder and asked seriously,

“Blues, why do care about what they say? I mean, that’s just their opinion.”

My brain searched for a meaning to what she said before I questioned,

“Ne, what?”

She sighed and explained,

“Well, it’s simple;

It’s your body and your ears, right?

As long as you love yourself for what’s on the inside, I’m sure we can cut the cat jokes, you think?”

I gasped and said amazed,

“Trill…”

She asked,

“What?”

I finished,

“That is probably the most beautiful but unmeaningful thing I’ve ever heard you say!”

She giggled and said,

“Guess I gots a poetic side, don’t I, Kitty?”

I said quietly,

“Yeah…”

TRILL

A boy’s voice said,

“I hate to interrupt your fluff-scene, but…”

I pivoted quickly and said surprised,

“Jeez Rockman, ya scared me! Oh, and Blues, make sure you-”

*CRASH*

“Oops, too late.”

Blues hadn’t been looking where he was going and smacked into the wall next to the entrance to Yuiichiro’s lab.

He moaned,

“I meant to do that!!”

KATYA

As Netto entered the room with his friends and his father behind him,

I cheered,

“YES!! It’s about time!!”

Meiru asked,

“So, Yuiichiro, what are we here for?”

His expression grew serious.

He replied,

“Two things actually, but first…Lauren? Katya?”

Lauren pulled out two syringes and handed one to me.

She said,

“Okie dokies, who’s first?”

Forte was pushed in front of me and screamed,

“Ya know what?! I FRICKEN HATE YOU ALL!!!”

I shoved the syringe into his arm and said annoyed,

“Aw, shove it Forte!”

With that his wings, ears, and tail quickly disintegrated into raw data before vanishing.

He asked,

“Uhhhhh, what the hell just happened?”

Lauren sighed and said,

“Man, Forte-sama, can you get any stupider? Katya, you mind explaining?”

I replied,

“Eh, why not. Earlier today we made a vaccine for this ‘ChibiAnima’ thingy and we’re injecting everyone with it. Happy?”

Forte looked slightly dumbfounded and answered,

“Yeah, sure…”

I asked,

“Who’s next, Lauren-chan?”

Lauren replied,

“Ehh, how about, um…

I know!

How about Enzie-chan and Bluesie-chan?”

Enzan blushed and asked embarrassed,

“Will you puh-leez stop calling me that?”

She smiled and said,

“Just hold still. Katya-chan, do you mind getting Blusie-woozy fer me?”

Blues sweatdropped and laughed.

NETTO

I elbowed my oldest brother and asked,

“Hey, nii-chan. Where’re yer snake parts?”

Fuyuki grinned and answered,

“Gone. I got vaccinated early!”

I pouted and whined,

“Not fair!!”

Fuyuki said,

“Think of it this way, Netto-kun;

At least you’re not like poor Rockman over there, right?”

I turned to see an infuriated Rockman.

He yelled,

“Dammit, what’s wrong NOW?!! I'm normal sized and my dog parts are gone, so WHAT IN THE HELL IS EVERYONE PICKING ON ME FOR?!!"

Fuyuki said to me in between laughs,

“It looks like SOMEBODY’s a little moody, huh?”

I laughed with him and asked,

“So, what’s this crap I’m hearing about a new kid in the neighborhood?”

FUYUKI

I cringed a little and asked,

“What new kid? Who’s been screwin’ with yer head this time, Netto-kun?”

“Eh, another boy that’s supposed to be my age is supposed to be moving into Akihara tomorrow. In our neighborhood, as a matter of fact.”

I asked,

“Know his name by chance?”

“Not a clue.”

I shook my head and said nervously,

“Well I’m sure you’ll find out soon enough.”

He nodded and said,

“Hey, I betcha any money I can whoop this new guy’s ass in a net battle!”

I shook my head slowly and told him,

“Netto-kun, I betcha any money you couldn’t.”

I thought to myself,

<You can’t defeat him because…he’s your brother, Netto-kun.>

I looked over at the small blue navi that was my brother.

Rockman looked like he was in pain.

Not physically,

But mentally.

I thought,

<Stupid statement. He’s miserable. Eh, don’t kill yerself Fuyuki. He’ll be fine tomorrow and we can look back at his life and laugh.>

I stood up from where I was sitting a few seconds ago and walked over to Rockman.

A very comedic Blues was sitting on top of Rockman, and Rockman didn’t look to happy.

I picked up the full grown navi by the back of his neck and turned him to face me before asking,

“What’cha doin to my brother, kitty?”

He laughed nervously and replied,

“Uhh, rugby? Um, yeah! Rugby!”

I dropped him on the ground next to Rockman and said seriously,

“Don’t do it again.”

Blues sweatdropped and muttered,

"I want my Enzan-sama..."

ROCKMAN

I moaned,

“Ow…”

Fuyuki grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feet, then asked,

“You alright? Whoops, another stupid question. ‘Course yer not.”

I complained,

“I can’t believe I have to wait another 24 hours! I mean, why not just do it now?”

Fuyuki started counting on his fingers and saying,

“1; Everyone’s getting vaccinated right now.

2; We can’t risk it. The machine needs 24 hours to charge fully, or you could be either deleted, or become a half navi like I used to be.

3; You’ve already died once, and I won’t let it happen again!”

I looked in to my older brother’s blood-red eyes.

They didn’t seem as frightening as usual.

In fact, he almost seemed…

Afraid, and worried.

Worried he would lose Hikari Saito for the 2nd time.

I nodded and said,

“Okay, nii-chan.”

Everyone else is cured too, from the looks of it.

Netto pretended to complain by saying,

“Aw man! Meiru and Roll aren’t monkeys anymore!!”

Meiru and Roll screamed,

“SHUT UP HIKARI!!”

I sighed and said happily,

“That’s my Netto-kun!!”

Oopsie, double-post. I just wanted to say, that the reason I might not post fer a while is that I'm waiting for Kupo.EXE to get back so he doesn't have to read so much. If I DO end up posting, it's cuz I'm bored and want to post another chapter.

EDIT: I probably won't get to post in a long time, because like usual, CrossFusionStarman is taking the internet connector off my comp so he can put it on his. That's the only problem with having only one internet connector, and not a router. Anyway, I probably won't post for at least a few weeks now, thanks to you, CFS!

Sweet Brother of Mine

ROCKMAN

I waited quietly, my patience wearing thin.

I asked,

“How much more now?”

Yuiichiro sighed and stated,

“Rockman, that’s the eleventh time you’ve asked that. And the power’s only up to 90% right now. You’ll have to wait at least 2 hours.”

I groaned.

In my dream, the machine didn’t have to do jack shit!

I smiled, sighed, and said,

“It’s alright. If I really get to be with Netto-kun again, I guess it’s worth the wait…”

Yuiichiro grinned and said,

“That’s the Hikari spirit!”

I laughed and said,

“You scare me sometimes, Dad!”

LAUREN

A light breeze tossed my hair around, and gave me small goose bumps.

I looked at the star-dotted sky above my head, slightly hidden by the browning leaves of the giant tree I sat under.

I looked at my dearest friend and asked,

“Beautiful night, isn’t it Enzan?”

ENZAN

I could tell my female companion was being serious this time because she didn’t call me ‘Enzie’ or something.

I leaned my head up against the trunk of the tree we were under and replied,

“Yeah…usually with all the lights in the city, you don’t see the sky often.”

Lauren pressed her back against mine and stated,

“It’s the same way in San Francisco, nowadays.”

A couple thoughts danced through my head and I was thinking of ways to word them all without sounding like a psycho.

TRILL

I sleepily looked over at my friend and asked,

“The sky’s pretty…ain’t it Blues?”

I leaned against Blues and yawned.

He asked,

“You all right Trill?”

I smiled and answered,

“Fine Blues, just…a little tired…”

BLUES

I pushed a snow white piece of hair out of my eyes and thought,

<If I still had my helmet, this crap wouldn’t happen. Eh, I’m making Trill happy, so it doesn’t bother me much…>

I felt the edges of my lips curl into a smile.

I added,

<Yeah…

As long as she’s happy, I->

<You really mean that Blues?>

I look startled down at Trill’s body, and it was clear that she was asleep.

I blushed and thought,

<Oh crap, she was listening to all that!>

<Yeah, I was. And I think that was the most beautiful relationship summed up in one sentence, Blues-chan. Absolutely the prettiest thing you’ve said.>

I blushed even harder and said,

<Trill, I thought you were sleeping! And why does that whole 'relationship' thing sound VERY cheesy?>

She replied,

<You’re speaking to my consciousness right now, and also, it DOES sound VERY cheesy, mind you.>

I pulled the sleeping navi into a hug, and before falling asleep myself,

I said softly,

“Oh, shut up Trill.”

I asked,

“What’s it at now?”

“98%, Rockman. You have to wait about a half an hour.”

I asked,

“Why am I waiting in your office?”

Yuiichiro shrugged and replied,

“Ask the author.”

I shrugged also and walked out of the sliding door leading to the main part of SciLab.

I asked myself,

“Great. Now what do I do for a half-hour?”

ENZAN

Huh?

Where am I?

How did I get here?

I opened my eyes, and all of last night came back in a flash.

Lauren, Trill, Blues, and me.

We were all under this tree last night!

I looked to my side to see a pair of brown eyes staring back at mine.

I asked,

“Lauren…chan? That you?”

Lauren smiled and said groggily,

“Guess we fell asleep here, huh?”

I asked,

“You got a watch on hand?”

She looked down at her PET and answered,

“Um, it’s about 10:27 PM, or this clock’s off. Woah! We slept for about 24 hours! We gotta get to SciLab!!!”

I gasped and yelled,

“Oh shit!”

I grabbed Lauren’s arm and started running as fast as I could.

I said,

“Sorry Lauren, but we gotta get there FAST!!!”

I halted quickly and muttered,

"Wait..."

I paused and said,

"...NO WE DON'T!!"

ROCKMAN

I stared at the computer screen in front of me excitedly counting the percentage.

“99.…ONE HUNDRED!!!”

Yuiichiro asked,

“It’s at 100%?”

“Okay then Rockman, or should I say, Saito, step in.”

I halted and said,

“Wait a minute. Someone’s missing…”

FUYUKI

I sat on the couch in our living room.

I said excitedly,

“Mom, I can’t wait to see Netto’s face!!”

Haruka sighed and asked,

“Fuyuki, should we have just told him?”

I asked,

“How can you take this so calmly?”

Haruka sweatdropped and replied,

“I’m not as calm as I look.”

I sweatdropped and said,

“That’s your secret.”

I thought for a while and asked,

“Mom, where’s Saito’s room gonna be?”

She replied,

“The empty room in between yours and Netto’s, like it was before he…”

Haruka grew silent, and I flipped through one TV channel after another while saying,

“Aw, don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s not our fault he had heart problems, is it?”

NETTO

“Okay, what are you keeping from me?”

I asked teasingly, lying face up on my bed.

Katya swiveled around in my computer chair, grinned slyly, and asked,

“Now what makes you think I’d be hiding something?”

I shrugged and said,

“You’re acting too cute today. Something’s up.”

She stopped spinning, grinned wider and said,

“I’m not permitted to tell you.”

I groaned, and asked,

“Why not?”

She snickered and said,

“Let’s just say that it’s Rockman’s wishes for me to-”

I asked,

“Rockman?”

Her eyes widened and she said nervously,

“Hey, look at the time! I gotta go!!!”

She zipped out of my bedroom faster than you could say ‘I hate Meiru's guts’.

I asked,

“What in the hell…?”

ROCKMAN

I folded my arms and asked in a slightly pissed off voice,

“Why can’t you just fire up the damned machine NOW?!”

Yuiichiro sighed and said,

“I’ll just boot it up right now if you can’t wait any longer…but first, I need Fuyuki over here.”

As if on cue,

(again,)

Fuyuki walked in and asked,

“Am I late?”

I exclaimed,

“Fuyuki-chan!!! You came!!!”

Fuyuki smiled, and exclaimed,

“You kidding? I haven’t seen you for real in at least ten years!!”

I asked,

“True…but, what about Netto-kun?”

Fuyuki answered,

“I’m sure he’ll be happy.”

I sighed and with a quiet voice told my family,

“This is it, Dad, Fuyuki. There’s no turning back.”

FUYUKI

I asked,

“Dad? How have Netto-kun and Saito-kun been doing? I mean, over the years I wasn’t there.”

Yuiichiro sighed and answered,

“They’ve been fine.”

I looked at the transparent pod my brother lay in, his eyes closed.

He looked…..

peaceful…

Half navi, half human at the moment….

I placed a hand on the glass of the pod and whispered,

“Hikari Saito….”

<That’s right Fuyuki-chan. In minutes I’ll be Hikari Saito…>

My eyes widened and I asked,

“Saito?!”

No answer.

I smiled and whispered to myself,

“Saito….”

NETTO

I squinted, trying to see the NaviCust program on my computer, my vision blurred from drowsiness.

I yawned, and asked myself,

“How did I get stuck home with my mom on a Tuesday night, when my dad and brothers are doing God-knows-what? They were at SciLab, so….”

An idea sparked in my head.

I thought to myself,

<That’s it!! They didn’t think I was smart enough!!

That’s right, they’re leaving me behind because I’m not Einstein!!>

I fumed and growled,

“Why am I making a new upgrade for Rockman?! If he really cared, he’d beg Dad to let me come!!”

ROCKMAN/SAITO

…

Netto-kun…

I’m coming, Netto-kun…

FUYUKI

I opened my eyes, and gasped.

I looked at Yuiichiro with wide eyes and yelled,

“DAD!! How long was I asleep?!!”

Yuiichiro turned his head and replied,

“About a half-hour. You woke up right on time.”

I switched my view over to my now fully human brother.

I gasped.

I pleaded,

“Dad, tell me this isn’t a dream. Please, tell me this isn’t a dream!”

Yuiichiro smiled and shook his head before saying,

“Nope. This is the genuine thing, Fuyuki. This is reality.”

I smiled and said,

“So let him out.”

Yuiichiro pressed a couple buttons, and with a thick cloud of anime steam following, the pod contain Rockm- (I mean Saito,) opened.

I smiled, and in a weak voice called,

“Saito…

Saito, come out…..we’re waiting for you, Saito.”

A young boy, about Netto’s age, stepped out of the pod.

His hair was spiked at the back of his head, and two moderately long bangs hung down, partly covering his eyes.

He wore a white long sleeved shirt, an open ice-blue vest over it. He wore black shorts, identical to Netto’s, without the stripes.

(yes, my taste in clothes sux, but just work with me people!!)

With my voice still wavering, I asked,

“Saito?”

His eyes opened and he blinked a couple times, before brushing an amber piece of hair from his eyes.

His eyes…the same beautiful shade of auburn every Hikari had.

Saito smiled and asked,

“Miss me?”

I cried out,

“SAITO-KUN!!!”

and hugged my brother with all my might.

Saito sobbed,

“Nii-chan!!!”

And hugged me back.

A waterfall of tears flowed down my cheeks as I stood in one place, finally getting to meet my brother for real.

SAITO

I looked at my brother in shock.

I wiped a tear from one of his eyes and said,

“Nii-chan, you’re crying.”

He sniffled and said joyfully,

“I don’t care Saito. All I care about right now is you.”

I sobbed again and said,

“Same here, Nii-chan.”

FUYUKI

I took a step away from Saito, wiped my eyes, and said,

“We gotta get home before Netto falls asleep.”

Saito added,

“And Mom, remember.”

I nodded and said calmly now,

“Yeah, Saito-kun.”

***

SAITO

I winced and said,

“Netto-kun, he’s….”

Fuyuki’s eyes widened and he asked,

“He’s what?!”

I held my head in my hands and finished,

“feeling…betrayed and…angry.”

Fuyuki looked worried and guessed,

“He thinks we left him out of something important…”

I smiled and affirmed,

“But we’re not leaving him out, are we?”

Fuyuki smiled a genuine brotherly smile and said,

“Let’s go, Saito.”

NETTO

I sighed and turned off the screen on my computer before getting off the computer chair and flopping down on my bed.

I asked to myself,

“Rockman, you’re happy right now, aren’t you?”

My thoughts were interrupted by Haruka’s voice calling,

“Netto? Netto!”

I lifted my head and asked,

“What?”

Her reply came,

“Come downstairs for a second, Netto.”

I stood up, walked into the hall, and slowly thumped down the seemingly long staircase.

Yuiichiro had taken a seat on the couch, while Fuyuki stood in the doorway, a cheerful smile on his face.

I asked,

“What’s up, Fuyuki?”

He asked,

“You know how I said we had a new kid moving in the neighborhood, right?”

I nodded and answered,

“Uh huh.”

He said,

“Well, I thought you’d like to meet him.”

FUYUKI

I grabbed Saito’s hand and said quietly,

“Get ready, Saito.”

***

NETTO

Fuyuki said eagerly,

“Netto, I want you to meet Hikari Saito.”

My eyes almost popped out of their sockets as I saw my no-longer deceased brother standing next to Fuyuki.

I asked,

“Rockman…?”

The boy next to Fuyuki shook his head and replied,

“No Netto-kun, it’s not Rockman anymore. It’s Saito.”

I gasped excitedly and bolted over to Saito, hugging him tightly.

I whimpered,

“Saito, you’re here. You’re really here.”

SAITO

My voice quivering, I said,

“Netto-kun, I missed you.”

I opened my mouth but I forgot what I was going to say when a sharp pain jabbed me in the chest, knocking the wind out of me.

I gasped out,

“Netto-kun, I-…Netto...”

***

FUYUKI

I smiled as Saito closed his eyes, and assumed,

“I don’t blame him for being tired. I would be too if I-”

Wait a damned second.

Something wasn’t right.

I walked up to my sleeping brother and asked,

“Sai? Saito-kun?”

I put my head to his chest and gasped.

No heartbeat. Not even an irregular one!

I cried,

“He’s not sleeping, he just had a heart attack!!!”

Haruka and Yuiichiro gasped even louder than I did.

I pounded a fist into my hand and exclaimed,

“That’s right! I know CPR!!”

I grabbed the unconscious body and lied it on the floor.

I started doing chest compressions and thought,

<C’mon Saito, don’t do this!!>

15 Minutes of CPR Later…

NETTO

Through teary eyes I watched hopefully over Saito’s body.

I sobbed and prayed silently,

<Please God, don’t take him away just yet!>

I buried my face in my hands and cried,

“Damn! I KNEW this was too good to be true!!”

<Netto-kun, please calm down. I promise you, I’m alright.>

I asked,

<Saito? Nii-chan? Saito! How are we speaking in telepathy? Saito.bat’s long gone.>

<No it’s not. I don’t have to be a navi to tell what you’re feeling, Netto-kun.>

<Then why won’t you wake up?!>

<…Netto-kun? I AM awake.>

I sweatdropped and looked down at Saito, who was now getting up off the floor.

Fuyuki asked casually, as if nothing happened,

"You alright, Sai?"

He shrugged as he got to his feet and said,

“Eh, I’m fine. Let’s just not do that again….”

I thought of a lie, and when I did, said quickly,

“Hey, ya know what? I’m tired! I think I’m just going to go upstairs now!”

I ran up the stairs, tripped over a step, got back up, and ran up the rest of the steps.

I dashed to my room, slammed my door shut, and hurled myself on my bed.

I cursed,

“Damn!! He’s still going to die, no matter HOW many times we bring him back, and that stupid illness won’t go away!! DAMNIT!!”

I sobbed before a tear crept down my face, and I whispered,

“Damn…”

Aw, poor Netto-kun...he's gonna lose his brother after he just got 'im back!! T_T In case anyone's wondering,(or they're just extremely stupid,) Sai is just short for Saito, which is what a lot of people are going to call Saito half the time. get used to it, shut up, and get on with yer lives. Chapter 9, well...some people might hate me fer chapter 9, let's say. -_-;

I was asleep before something VERY heavy pounded down on my stomach.

I groaned loudly.

“Netto-kun!!! Wake up Netto-kun!!”

I asked,

“Rockman? How are...oh yeah, that’s right...”

I opened my eyes to see Saito sitting on me.

He smiled and said,

“‘Morning, Netto-kun!”

I groaned and said,

“I’m getting an alarm clock today after school!”

Saito laughed and said,

“Now, c’mon Netto-kun, you’re gonna be late!”

FUYUKI

I lied across the couch with the remote close at hand.

I heard a scream and looked over to see Netto and Saito tumbling down the stairs.

I mean, LITERALLY tumbling.

Netto cried out,

“THIS IS YER FAULT SAITO!!”

Saito laughed and said,

“Just like the old days, huh, Netto-kun!?”

The two brothers fell down to the end of the steps with a large thump.

Haruka poked her head in the room and asked,

“What’s going on in there?”

I called back,

“Nothing mom!”

She walked back into the kitchen from where she came saying,

“Those boys...”

I grinned to myself and walked over to Saito, asking,

“Ya nervous, Saito-kun?”

He smiled and replied,

“Yeah, a little...”

I grabbed Saito in a headlock and proceeded to give him a noogie.

I said roughly,

“Don’t be!!”

My voice softened a little as I assured him,

“Trust me, you’ll do fine!”

He vainly tried to escape and whined,

“Fuyuki, yer messing up my hair!!!”

This made me laugh and say,

“Oh, yer going all pretty-boy on me now?! HA! Saito, ya need ta chillax!!”

Saito gave me a confused look and said,

“Uhh, chillax isn’t a word, Fuyuki,”

“Then why is it in an American dictionary?”

Saito sweatdropped and replied,

“That’s AMERICA, not JAPAN, Fuyuki.”

I laughed and said jokingly,

“Saito, yer such a nerd!”

He laughed and said,

“At least I wasn’t involved in a BAD freak accident!”

I grabbed the couch and lifted it above my head, and yelled,

“So?! This ‘FREAK’ accident turned out good compared to YOURS!!”

I gasped and let the couch drop before whispering,

“Oh my God, Saito? Saito? I didn’t mean to-”

SAITO

I put a hand up and stopped Fuyuki from going any further.

“‘Nuff said, Fuyuki. Don’t even bother.”

I walked out the door and commanded,

“Let’s go Netto.”

Netto jumped up from where he was sitting and trailed behind me out the door before I slammed it shut.

The two of us walked next door to Minarai’s house.

I knocked on the door and stepped back.

Minarai instantly answered the door and greeted us.

“Hi, Netto-san, oh, and who are you?”

I laughed and answered,

“Don’t you recognize me? It’s me, Saito. Or, you might know me as Rockman, Minarai-chan.”

Minarai’s smiled and she said happily,

“Oh! Saito! I didn’t even know that was you! Heck, this is my first time seeing you as a human!”

I sweatdropped and told her,

“We’re lagging a little. let’s go get Lauren, Katya, and Meiru before we’re late.”

Minarai sweatdropped and agreed,

“Right...”

SAITO

As usual, Lauren stood at the end of her driveway waiting for us.

LAUREN

Yep, that’s me, looking out into the sky, singing any song that happens to be in my head.

“I don’t wanna be anything
other than what I’ve been
trying to be lately,

All I have to is think of me,
and I-”

I looked and saw Netto, Minarai, and the middle Hikari, AKA Saito.

I exclaimed,

“Hi, Netto-chan, Minarai-san, and-

Sai-kun! Is that you?!”

Saito blushed and looked at the ground, an obvious sign of embarrassment.

Netto grinned and asked,

“You got the hots fer my bro, Lauren?”

Blood rushed to my face and I retorted,

“At least I would have the courage to admit it to Saito if I did!”

I slapped Netto across the face and exclaimed,

“You jerk!”

Saito sweatdropped and said nervously,

“Lauren-sama, wait until AFTER school to knock Netto-kun out...”

I helped Netto-kun stand up after I knocked him down and said,

“Don’t worry Saito, it’s cool!”

I high-fived Netto and asked,

“We cool, ain’t we Netto-kun?”

He sweatdropped and replied,

“Yeah, just don’t hit me anyone...”

LATER ON THAT DAY:

LAUREN

I screamed,

“YOU DICKHEAD!!”

and punched the older kid.

Saito took a few steps away from the fight and asked,

“Lauren? Don’t do this. I mean, sure he-”

I veered around and screamed,

“SAITO!! NOBODY HURTS MY FRIENDS AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!! DEKAO HURT YOU AND HE’S NOT GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!!!”

SAITO

I rubbed the spot near my eye where the skin was turning purple and said quietly,

“Yeah...but I-”

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around to see Netto.

He looked sad.

I asked,

“What’s wrong, Netto-kun?”

He replied,

“I guess that’s what happens when you don’t hang out with people in a long time...”

I sighed and gasped out,

“I think Lauren’s goin...too...hard on ‘im....”

I lost my footing and fell, Netto’s lightning-fast reflexes catching me before I hit the ground, and exclaimed,

“Saito!”

I laughed and then sighed a little, and asked,

“Netto-kun, if I passed out, what would you do?”

NETTO

I looked at my brothers weak body, and fighting back a sob, I replied,

“Whatever I can, Saito. Now stop thinking like that, because yer not passing out!”

***

SAITO

I pushed myself off Netto-kun and said,

“Sorry, Netto-kun. Lost it a little there, huh?”

Netto sighed and agreed,

“Yeah just don’t scare me like that again!”

I looked at Lauren, and asked,

“Netto-kun, look at Lauren.”

He glanced at her and asked,

“What about her?”

I asked,

“Can you see that aura around her?”

He replied,

“Yeah, but I don’t think humans usually have auras surrounding them.”

I stated,

“Exactly. Do you think...?”

He shook his head and replied,

“Naw, she has to be human. After all, we could probably be seeing things.”

I said,

“Don’t think I’m crazy, but, you know that one place, where dead souls go? Um, what was it again?”

Netto asked,

“Heaven? Hell?”

I stopped him and replied,

“No, the first one you said! Call me crazy, but when I was there for a while, I noticed, the other souls...they had the same aura around them. I was pretty young back then anyway, and I could be crazy for saying this, but I think that....”

Netto asked,

“Whaddya think?”

I finished,

“I might be wrong, but Lauren’s an angel.”

Netto’s eyes widened and exclaimed,

“ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING?!”

I shook my head and said,

“Nope. And next time we see Trill, look for that same aura. If we’re lucky enough, we might even be able to do a little prowling and get a little more info.”

LAUREN

I took a step back and screamed,

“DON’T EVER, EVER EVEN THINK ABOUT TOUCHING MY FRIENDS AGAIN!!!!”

The kid who harassed Saito started bawling and ran back into the shadows from which he came.

I walked up to Saito and asked worriedly,

“Sai-kun, are you alright?”

Netto lightly slapped his brother on the back and replied for him,

“Yeah, he’s okay, just a little dazed, ain’tchya Saito?”

Saito rapped on his own head a couple times, and answered,

“Yeah, just a small knock on the head but I’m fine.”

I moved his hand away from his eye to reveal that the skin around the eye was a dark mauve. The eye itself was bleeding.

I exclaimed,

“ARE YOU [spoil:6f690a48c4]FUCKING[/spoil:6f690a48c4] KIDDING ME?! YER NOT ALRIGHT, YOU NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION RIGHT NOW!!!”

She turned in the other direction and walked away, yelling over her shoulder,

“Netto, get Saito to the nearest hospital ASAP.”

When I was out of earshot I pulled out my PET and said sadly,

“Trill, I don’t believe we’re doing a good job.”

Trill frowned and added worriedly,

“And we’ll get called back if we can’t do this. We can’t have that, because we haven’t failed once yet!”

I asked,

“So, how much longer are we gonna stay here?”

Trill scratched her head and answered,

“Until Saito dies again, then we gotta revive him and leave Earth.”

I sobbed and said,

“Trill, I like these Earth kids. They’re different from the others. I don’t wanna leave them!”

TRILL

I looked up at my twin and assured her,

“Shia, Saito shouldn’t die for a couple more months, so until then, we can spend all the time we have with them.

I mean, if we’re lucky, and we do a good job, we can go farther down the family lines and play with their kids as well.”

Shia sighed and whined,

“I don’t want Saito to die!

He just got his life back yesterday and now he’s gonna lose it again!

He’s a miserable creature in a living hell, and if we keep bringing him back to life he’ll suffer more each time!”

A tear crept down my face and I explained,

“Shia-san, I know. But we both know that Netto-kun needs him.

Anyhow, if he’s a navi when Netto dies, we can just delete his data completely, and extract what’s left of him: his soul.

If he’s human, we can just rip his soul out and bring it up with us.

Either way, in a couple decades or so we kill him and bring him back where he belongs; Heaven.”

LAUREN/SHIA

I nodded and added,

“Hikari Saito wasn’t meant to live, but Yuiichiro Hikari decided to play God and bring him back to life.

But then again, look what Saito did to the Earth;

it was a good thing he was Rockman, but not Saito. He shouldn’t be human right now.”

I sobbed again and tears started to come again, like miniature streams.

I smiled and added,

“But, at least, while we were down here, we gave him the chance to have fun...”

I closed my eyes and looked back on every little thing we did, a lot with Rockman.

The first netbattle we had...

Trill and the leash...

the ChibiAnima,

all the stupid stunts...

and just those other times that brought us happiness, anyhow...

"He’s gonna be gone soon, and then we gotta revive him back into a navi’s body, then when he gets restored to a human for the second time, he’s gonna die again eventually, and the cycle’s gonna keep going on until Netto dies!!”

A voice behind us gasped and said petrified,

“No....”

Saito stood behind the two of us.

But something was wrong.

He looked exactly like his navi form, except for the fact that he wasn’t wearing a helmet, exposing his umber locks.

Everything up to the navi symbols covering his ears and on his chest was all there.

He gasped out,

“What the hell’s....going on....?”

He fell to his knees and moaned,

“It’s hurting....all over...”

I knelt down and put a hand on his head and woefully said to Saito,

“You poor miserable thing. Not human, not navi. Things like you should be killed on the spot...or, at least given some asprin.”

Trill muttered,

"This isn't the time to be cracking jokes..."

He looked at me and asked,

“Lauren?”

I shook my head and corrected him,

“No, Saito. It’s Shia, not Lauren, Shia.”

He held his head in his hands and moaned,

“Agony...”

More tears streamed down my face and I said forlornly,

“I know, Saito, I know.”

Minako asked,

“Do we really want to let such a miserable thing live?”

I shook my head and answered,

“No, we don’t. But there’s a person here that needs him.”

I asked,

“Saito, can you bear with this, for a little longer? We'll make it better, I promise...”

He moaned and replied,

“I...I’m not so...sure my...self....”

I added,

“Would you do it for Netto-kun? You’re only gonna be here for so long. Your days are growing numbered, Saito.”

Trill asked,

“Aren’t we twisting the plot a little too much?”

Saito asked,

“Plot.....? ...What....plot?”

I grinned and told him,

“Exactly. Like Planty sorta implies, who said all good stories need plots, right? Now come on, just tough it out a little longer and go get back to Netto-kun before he starts worrying.”

(Yes Planty, I'm referring to YOU!)

He strained asking,

“What.....about my....body...?”

I ran my fingers through his silk-like hair and reassured him,

“Taken care of. I know why you just reverted to a navi like this but we’re not permitted to tell you. And Saito, let anyone know about this, and I’ll send your sorry soul to hell. That’s not a threat, merely a promise.”

I helped him stand up and asked,

“You gonna need help getting back home?”

He weakly nodded.

Trill asked,

“How’re we gonna get this poor kid home?”

Large feathery wings came out of my back, and like always, seemed to split the air around them.

I answered,

“We both completed a mission a while ago, wanna test our new wing size out?”

Trill nodded and replied,

“You carry him and I’ll go under you in case he falls.”

TRILL

I let my wings similar to Shia’s slither out and asked,

“Saito, you’re not shocked by all of this, are you? Stupid question, of course you are.”

He looked down and replied,

“A little scared, but I’m okay, for now anyway...”

SHIA

I picked Saito up under his arms and held my arms tightly around him and asked,

“I’m not suffocating you, am I?”

He nodded and asked,

“May we just get out of this loophole?”

I nodded and said jokingly,

“Alright, Mr. Smarty Pants.”

Wowie, that’s a sad chapter. Never woulda thought THAT would happen, did’ja? You can tell I’m a redneck because I ain’t got no good English!

(I did that on purpose, you know.)

Anyway, this fanfic’s winding down just a bit and I’m starting a new one in a little while. Is anyone else besides me taking pity on Saito? -_-; Don't worry Rockman fangirls, he lives for a while, so don't kill me! (Heh heh heh...it wasn't funny, was it?)

Yeah, I didn't expect anyone to. I'm in a good mood because I just came home from the Onyx Ice Arena and have mastered my waltz-jump comepletely! So, to celebrate, I'm putting chapter 10 and 11 up!!!

Chapter 10:
A Small Glimpse of Heaven

SAITO

I asked,

“So Shia-san, what yer sayin is that every time a dead body flips, an angel gets it’s wings?”

(Kudos to all you people who know where that’s from.)

Shia shook her head and replied,

“Ne, Saito, I was just fooling around. Really, wings start out as really puny ones, about the size of my hand. And every time an angel completes a mission they’re assigned, their wings grow.”

I looked at the two girls’ wings and commented,

“That’s a lot of success. How long’ve you guys been around then?”

Shia put a hand to her chin and replied,

“Oh, yeah, at least long enough to watch Laika grow up from the day he was born 'till now, but we probly go back even farther than that.

Let’s just say male Hikari like you aren’t always so lucky, so we’ve been assigned to watch over each and every boy in the Hikari family ever since we were informed 11 years ago about you.”

Trill giggled and added,

“You probably don’t even remember us playing with you in Heaven, because you were so young!”

I scratched my head and said,

“Angels? Heaven? Souls? Angels here? On Earth? Am I missing something, cuz I’m a tad bit confused over here!”

Shia and Trill laughed and Trill explained,

“That’s normal, Sai-kun. You’re just a human, and yer not supposed to understand! Now, we COULD tell you things like what God looks like, the meaning of life, but that stuff’s not important, is it?”

(Heh, did you really think they'd let the Klonoa- ...er, CAT out of the bag?)

I sighed and pointed out,

“Uh, Shia? Trill? We just passed my house.”

Trill smiled and chirped,

“I know!”

I asked,

“Where’re we going?”

Shia and Trill chimed,

“Wherever you want!!”

Shia sweatdropped and asked,

“Jeez Saito, since when were Earth boys so heavy?”

I sweatdropped and said,

“Not my fault. And my body’s light and frail, so if you think this is heavy don’t even TRY to pick up Netto-kun!”

Trill asked,

“Shia, shouldn’t we just-”

Shia grew serious and said,

“Trill, you know that’s against the rules. However, if you’ll hold onto Saito for a minute, I’ll go ask for permission.”

I was dropped out of Shia’s arms but before I could fall even an inch, Trill caught me.

Trill looked away from me the second I looked up at her.

She asked nervously,

“Er, Saito? Saito-kun? Uh, about the leash....and...a lot of the other things...can you...?”

I nodded and answered,

“You’re forgiven.”

I grinned and added,

“Anyway, how can I say no to an....angel like you?”

She laughed and said jokingly,

“Flattery gets you everywhere Saito!”

Shia burst through a layer of clouds, and waving a piece of parchment around, yelled excitedly,

“He said yes!!”

Trill grabbed the piece of paper and said,

“No....way...that’s awesome!!”

I asked,

“What is? Shia read the paper aloud:

“The angels Trill and Shia are hereby granted permission to temporarily give human Hikari Saito wings.”

Trill exclaimed,

“Ya hear that Saito? You get ta have wings too! And this is permission from ‘The Big Guy’ himself!”

Shia’s hands went right through my back. I could feel them moving around in my body.

Seconds later Shia pulled her hands out and two angelic wings with it.

I gagged and asked,

“Why are my wings covered in body fluids?”

Shia shrugged and asked,

“What? You expect ‘em to be squeaky clean when I pull ‘em out of YOUR BACK? I mean, c’mon, I just ripped ‘em outta yer body! See? They’re not even wet anymore!”

I looked at them again.

They were completely dry, and about half the size of Shia’s and Trill’s wings.

I concentrated on moving them up and down, and...hey!

“Look! I’m doing it! I’m freakin flying!!”

Shia asked,

“What’s the one place you’ve always wanted to go to?”

I rested my chin in my hand for a few seconds, and replied,

“The U.S., probably.”

I pointed a finger in the air and screamed,

“TO THE U.S.A.!!!!”

I covered my ears to make the noise quieter and Trill asked,

“You okay Saito-kun?”

I uncovered my ears and nodded.

Trill asked,

“Shia, keep it down a little please?”

Shia completely ignored Trill’s comment.

I stated,

“Okay Shia, you’re twisting the plot WAY too much now.”

She shrugged and pointed down.

I asked,

“What state’s that?”

Shia instantly replied,

“Capitola, California. I’m the one who made that tree shaped like a candy cane!”

I exclaimed,

“It’s gorgeous!!”

Trill asked,

“Should we land here?”

I smiled and replied,

“Naw. Hey, can we go up any farther?”

Shia smiled and said,

“Sure.”

Her expression was replaced by a straight face.

“Just be careful, Saito. Normal humans can’t go too far without being suffocated. With your heart disease in all, we can’t take too many risks.”

I nodded, smiled, and told her,

“I understand!”

I followed my friends and rising into the sapphire sky, and smiled to myself.

Woot, yeah! That was...random. Yes, a short chapter, but I'm posting chapter 11, THE CHAPTER WITH LAIKA IN IT!!! :] However, it will be in another post so this one's not too big.

Chapter 11:
My Strange Friend From Sharo
(Ryouko, please don’t read this. You’ve now officially been warned.)

SAITO

I looked at a calendar hanging in my room and checked off another day in red marker.

It had been two months since that fateful day when I saw the true form of Lauren and Trill, or should I say, Shia and well...Trill.

Two months of pointless living.

A sigh escaped my lips as I sunk into my computer chair and typed out an e-mail.

The e-mail read,

Hey Trill, Shia, how you holding up?

I’ve got about six days left.

A mix of fear and happiness, you could say, I’m feeling.

I was wondering,

when my time DOES come and I have to leave,

what am I supposed to do?

How am I going to let you know?

From,

Saito, AKA Sai-kun, as you like to say.

I let out another sigh and asked out loud to myself,

“Netto-kun, how am I supposed to think you’ll believe me, when I barely believe it myself?”

I felt a hand place itself lightly on my cheek.

I looked up to the hands owner. Lauren was hovering in the air, her wings spread out.

She smiled and said gently,

“Saito-kun, we’ll lead the way when it comes time. But you won’t be dieing completely for a while. Remember, in a week from now, you’ll be back in the Net again. Don’t worry about Heaven for a while yet. And when you see the light at the end of the tunnel, look for Trill and me, because we‘ll be here until the last second. Oh, and don‘t reach for the light, you‘ll go blind cuz it‘s so bright.”

I smiled and said solemnly,

“Thanks Shia.”

She asked,

“How’s your family doing?”

I answered,

“They’re fine.”

I told him,

“Don’t tell a soul about this. No kidding around, Saito.”

She passed right through the closed window and flew back to wherever she was going.

I sighed again and muttered,

“This is crazy.”

TRILL

Shia asked,

“Ready, Trill?”

I nodded and asked,

“What if he doesn’t remember us?”

Shia smiled to herself and assured me,

“I’m sure an old buddy can’t forget us.”

I declared,

“Then we’re going to Sharo!”

SHIA

We were in Sharo in a matter of minutes, searching by sky for a certain Russian boy.

I pointed down and asked,

“Didn’t his dorm used to be right there?”

Trill corrected me,

“You mean, OUR dorm too.”

I added,

“Okay, it was our dorm too. Anyway, let’s check it out.”

We rocketed downwards to the land below.

Before I could crash, I slowed down just enough to come to a complete stop, my toes barely brushing the ground.

Trill slammed into the Earth, got up, dusted herself off, and commented,

“You always WERE the better flier, you know.”

I poked my head into the dorm’s wall, to see exactly who we wanted.

I pulled back out and motioned Trill to follow.

At the same time we traversed through the wall, into the dorm of our friend.

I called out,

“Laika?”

LAIKA

I flopped down on the couch in my dorm and asked into the PET,

“Any luck, Searchman?”

Searchman nodded and replied,

“No sir.”

I sighed and looked to the side.

I heard a faint noise by the door.

“Laika? Laika-san?”

A voice asked.

Another voice cried out,

“Laika!! Laikie-chan, where are you?”

~Laikie-chan? There’s only one person in the world that calls me that, but she-....she...~

Searchman’s voice brought me back to reality as he asked,

“Something wrong, Laika-san?”

I nodded and replied,

“Nothing’s wrong, Searchman.”

Two silhouettes stood in front of me.

I gasped and whipped out the nearest gun, sending the two girls into shock.

The first one asked,

“Laika-san, what’s wrong?”

The second one asked,

“You don’t recognize your own friends?”

I sneered and growled out,

“Nice try, jerks, Shia and Trill died five years ago!! I witnessed their death, so don’t try to convince me otherwise!!”

The girl looking similar to Shia looked at the ground and asked,

“But, what about being a ghost, or more specific, an angel? Remember that night five years ago, when I promised I’d be back? I even remember what happened that night...”

START FLASHBACK

***

SHIA

I fell to my knees and started hacking up blood. That’s what happens when you’re shot in the chest, anyway.

I looked up at my companion and told him,

“Laika-san, I’m not gonna make it, and Trill’s been deleted. But I promise I’ll be back one day, better than ever. And when I’m in heaven, I’m gonna watch over you, as an angel, with big wings. And every night, I’m gonna come down to Earth and make sure you’re okay.”

LAIKA

I sobbed and yelled,

“Shia! No! You’re gonna live, damnit! I’m gonna make sure of it!!”

I dropped to my knees so I could hear Shia better, as she was becoming quieter by the second.

She lied down on her back.

***

SHIA

I looked up at my friend.

A raindrop fell onto me.

Wait, that wasn’t rain; it was a tear.

I smiled and assured the boy above me,

“Laika-san, please don’t cry. I told you I’ll be back someday, I promise, even if it takes forever.”

***

LAIKA

I watched my friend close her eyes tiredly, to fall into an eternal sleep.

I yelled,

“Shia! Shia, DON’T DIE!!”

***

END FLASHBACK

***

LAIKA

I sighed and said, looking down,

“No...I don’t believe one bit...how could you-”

A soft hand landed on my hands and lowered them down.

She sat down next to me on the couch and said with a gentle smile,

“Laika, finally, after five years, just like I promised, I’m back. I even remembered the wings.”

Wings about two feet long and two feet tall emerged from her back, and both wings gave one large flap before spreading out completely.

I asked,

“Question; If you’re the real Shia and Trill, what’s the secret handshake we made up six years ago?”

The two girls spread out their arms, smiled childishly, and exclaimed,

“Yatta!!”

My heart skipped a few beats, and I smiled, saying,

“Just like you promised...you really ARE back, aren’t you?”

Her tan arms were immediately wrapped around me as she cried,

“Laika, I’m so glad....so glad I can see you again!!”

Trill asked,

“Uh, can you keep that to yourselves?”

Shia sighed and wrapped her long wings around me too.

A COUPLE MINUTES LATER....

***

LAIKA

I asked,

“So, if you’re angels, what brings you down to Earth?”

Trill replied,

“We’ve been watching over Hikari and his friends for a while.”

Shia smiled and added,

“But you’re the REAL reason we’re down here, Laika-san.”

Searchman scratched his head with a finger and asked,

“Why do I not remember some of this?”

Trill answered,

“You weren’t even in existence for half of this, Searchman-sama.”

He sweatdropped and muttered,

“I know....”

Shia asked,

“Why don’t we go back to my house in Akihara?”

I shrugged and answered,

“Well, we’ve got nothing better to do, so why not?”

Searchman questioned,

“Er...just HOW are we gonna get there?”

Shia pointed to her wings and replied,

“These, you moron.”

Searchman slumped over and sweatdropped again.

SHIA

I asked,

“Laikie-chan, wanna see what it’s like to have wings?”

Laika sweatdropped and answered,

“Uh, okay.”

Just like with Saito, I ripped angelic wings out of Laika’s back, and explained,

“Give ‘em a flap er two first ta git rid o’ those body fluids coating them.”

His eye twitched as he stared at me dumbfounded.

I sighed and said,

“Well, duh they’re gonna be sick like that! What did you THINK would happen if I ripped wings outta yer back?!”

He grinned and said,

“THAT’s more like the Shia I know.”

I added,

“Oh, and while we’re around the others, I’m Lauren,”

I pointed to Trill, stating,

“...and she’s, well....Trill. We don’t wanna blow our cover.”

Laika nodded and asked,

“So, are we ever gonna get to Akihara, or just stand here talking?”

I grinned and said playfully,

“Aw, shut up Laika!”

Laika grabbed his PET and declared,

“I guess we’re all set then.”

I grabbed Laika's hand, and we passed through the ceiling without breaking it. With a jump off the roof, and a few flapping pair of wings, we were off to Akihara, to show Laika and Searchman the time of their lives!

Heh, Laika's obnoxious and Searchman's a moron...PLEASE DON'T KILL ME RYOUKO!! *drops to knees and begs for mercy* And well, now you know my version of why Laika can be such a jackass sometimes.

Laika: NOOO!! I DESPISE MARY SUE PAIRINGS!!!
