I was joking. Maybe a board game type thing. With the players being gamepieces? _________________

Again, while yes, the card concept would probably work well... it'd be better suited for a GBA or DS version of SSB, where the system hardware has limitations on storing tons and tons and tons of 3-D models for trophies. The Gamecube used trophies so we could circle around and see our favorite classic characters, in 3-D, from every angle... and the Revolution should be able to top that, either by doing something greater than trophies or expanding, big time, on the trophy concept. Cards would be neat, but we'd lose a major layer of depth to it all. How about just give SSBR an actual storyline where the Nintendo characters (the real ones, not doll/trophy form) are all brought together to defeat a great evil... and then all of the trophies and what-not would just be data files or something? Yeah, that's bland, but I can't think of anything better... _________________

Well, fighting games stories generally tend to not be very good, from what I've seen. But the SSB series has mostly just been about the imagination of Nintendo fans. Master Hand is the symbol of that, by taking all of his character dolls and trophies and sticking them together in a big free-for-all, and the way he sees it happening is prettymuch how you play the game. The SSB games have gotten by fine without the need for some sort of story, that really just seems like something for fans to do themselves and make up however they want. |

I think they should try something similar to Flying Dragon and give items to equip that would enhance certain stats. That could encourage players to use characters they like, rather than just ones that match their style, and making them equippable would give some strategy in who to give what. They could also provide items to alter fighting styles, like giving Mario FLUDD instead of making him a seperate character, or giving Young Link one of his transformation masks, or even choosing his young or adult self.
I think they should also give all the characters more moves, but have the player select which ones to use in the battle and which button combination to set them to.
I don't know how realistic these next two features would be, but I'd like an ability to create our own adventure modes. Like arrange who'll be fought and when and create the storyline for it. And since it's online, maybe they could be posted on a server for others to try. This would really fit in well too since the series itself has no real story, instead it seems to be a kid playing with his toys and his imagination.
The second one would tie in rather well with the above idea. A level designer. Fighting games are now getting character makers, but I doubt that would fit in, but level editor would. Levels are a big part of the gameplay and I know I'm not only person who didn't like the lack of big levels in Melee. This would fix that, and they could be set up for others download too. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

A character maker wouldn't be THAT farfetched. You could store two on the memory card... a male and a female, and they can begin as Wireframes until you acquire special attributes to make them look differently. That and things like moves and such to give them. Or maybe Nintendo and HAL could even just invent a character, specifically for SSBR, that the player customizes... like Emerl in Sonic Battle.
A stage maker, though... that's another awesome idea. What's more interesting is that, with the new online mode, you could share your character and stages with other people around the world. This way, it'd be possible to "level up," in a sense, your own character and then take on other players with your own customization and strategies.
Of course, there'd be an online mode... and even offline modes... where customized characters and stages are simply not allowed. _________________

I was discussing that with some other people last night, and I keep thinking that making a character for you to customize wouldn't really suit the SSB way either, when you think about it. A character made specifically for customization, like Emerl as you just said, would probably work, but then Emerl wasn't a very interesting aspect of the game. Level making goes for the same reason as character making, things would be set in stone because like you yourself said, it's a tribute to Nintendo characters, so making your own stuff wouldn't really make sense for it. The Online leveling up system sounds like something that could work though, but that depends on what the other changes in the game would mean for it. |

There's nothing saying that customizable characters/stages wouldn't fit with the Nintendo theme. They could only give you objects to put in stages that are already from Nintendo games (make your own custom Mario/Kirby/Zelda world, anyone?)... same goes for customization on a character. (Customize yourself a Ditto. =P) _________________

Now that you mention it having a ditto that morphes into a different character might not be that bad. Or atleast let you have wireframe/polygon as a costume. |

This game coulod be insanely intriicate. It would be very fun to create your own stages from different games. You might even be able to blend together two games...character customization would be nice. Screwing around with your favorite characters and chaniging around there stats. For example making a fast character (like Fox) and making him slow and giving him ore strength. This si rather un-supersmashbros. like thouygh.. _________________

They should have Dark Samus playable. And NOT a freaking clone like the other unlockable chars are, Blaziken(don't think it's gonna happen),a MUCH better Gannondorf to play as, and they should also have Wario, Wolf o Donnel, Meta-Knight. I'm not implying anything but it KINDA be neat to include the option ability to dual wield items(imagine one hand beam-sword other ray-gun heheheh). As for levels they should have Luigi's Mansion where you are trying to fight you're opponent on the roof-top of the mansion, but as you are fighting you are being assaulted by ghosts.Yeah those are ONE of my many ideas...but I know it's not gonna happen. _________________ ROCKBUSTER !!!!!! |

Characters made from the same game are most likely to become clones. They shouldn't make you start out as a wire-frame male/female. More like a kid, then you custimize him. Maybe you could add a weapon that you could start out with at the beginning of a match, for example: You equip you character with "Beam Sword", you will start out with a beam sword when you play a match.
And with the research, there isn't enough rumors or facts out there. It's way to early for news to have leaked. |

I'd like to see the top of Ganon's Tower from the Wind Waker as a level. With falling water. Like...it would be like Final Destination, but the borders of the level is surrounded by the falling ocean. The water on the edges of the level would push you down..making it difficult to get back, and then randon streams of water would fall onto the level and maybe do damage? I think it would be cool. /o/ _________________

That would be cool. Hey what about a moving stage though space or water?
That might make things hard. |

Concerning Sonic, its creator Yuji Naka (sorry if I'm wrong with the name) said that it is far from impossible. If Nintendo asks, then no problem. And Nintendo and Sega are friends since the death of the Dreamcast (look at F-Zero GX).
Moreover, Sonic was the challenger of Mario, so they share a connection. Whereas Megaman does not.
Concerning the look of the characters... There were rumor saying you could choose a style. For example, a realistic Link like in OOT or a toon-shading one, even a 2D Link. That is to say, you choose which version of the incarnations of Link you want.
But it is a rumor. I think it is more likely that alternate costumes could be related to the "main" character. I mean : Funky Kong could be a costume for DK, Onilink for Link, Birdo for Yoshi... With some particular moves
For real new characters : K-Rool, Krusha (costume for K-Rool), Wario, Blaziken or Rukario, Koopa Troopa, Meta-Knight, Jody Summer from FZero, the heroes of Golden Sun... _________________ KnightSoul will protect you |

I think I got it, under water it would be a little slower and you'd have to get knocked off the platform to lose and the space level would have lower gravity and the same platform. That might have an interesting challenge althought final destination is a lot like that. |

I thought of this last night...the first part anyway, the rest is an idea I've had for a while. /o/
I would like to see a Baby Mario and Luigi duo like the Ice Climbers, although I wouldn't have them be Mario and Luigi clones because that would be stupid.
I would also like Baby Bowser...Sunshine Baby Boswer...so he would be Boswer Junior...maybe a middle weight Bowser? I'd make him a Boswer clone...Except for his B Down, that would make him Shadow Mario. That would also be a Mario clone but I'd make make all of his moves Magic Brush related, maybe have his B move be Paint Ball and it would bounce once and then splatter on the floor? Perhaps the Magic Brush would be like a sword? Then he wouldn't be much of a clone... _________________

I'd like to see a stage that takes place in a room from Sanctuary Foretress in Metroid Prime 2. You know, with Quad robots (the robots with four legs) walking around in the background, computer screens showing maps of the foretress, and security cameras at the top of the screen looking down at the arena. |
