Having finally seen the movie in English (subbed that is), I can say that the movie is far from being "amazing." That said, it wasn't terrible either. It was above mediocre and enjoyable at the very least.
The movie's strongest point was the visuals. There was definately plenty of eyecandy, from the detailed character models and environments to the silky smooth animation and great special effects, it's truly a spectacular for the eyes. The weak point? The story. I'm sorry, but I could create a better and more coherent plot in ten minutes while hopped up on cough syrup than what we have in Advent Children. Yeah, if you played FF7 and remember it well you can follow it fairly easily, but there are plenty of things that happen in the course of the movie that seem to have no point. [spoil:e2333e5032]I mean, why exactly DOES Kadaj need the kids with Geostigma anyway? He mentions something about needing the Jenova cells that afflicted them at one point for the "reunion," and then later on he does the whole "reunion" thing without the kids around. And let's not forget Sephiroth's half assed, 11th hour appearance at the end. And tell me, why do they keep talking about "Jenova wants this" and "Mother wishes that" yet Jenova has absolutely no presence at all in the movie?[/spoil:e2333e5032]
I can't say the action sequences were flawless either. They looked great, but during quite a few of them the camera continually panned and jumped about far too much, making the sequences visually jarring and difficult to follow. Some instances were worse than others, and while they didn't ruin the fights, they could sometimes bring out out of the moment. Also, I think the realistic visuals worked against the movie during the action sequences as well. Yes, being a Final Fantasy 7 movie, you shouldn't expect things to be completely realistic when it comes to the fights and the action, but with such realistic character models and backgrounds it becomes much more difficult to suspend disbelief as Cloud and friends fly hundreds of feet through the air after a single jump and bounce around the place like monkeys on a caffine rush. Nomura's a pretty good artist, but it's times like this where it becomes obvious to me that he doesn't have the concept of good aesthetics down. If he wanted to make the action absolutely extreme and completely over the top he (and his team) should have gone with less realistic, more stylized look for the character designs and scenery, and if they really wanted the realistic look, then the action really should have been toned down a bit to reflect that and remain within the realm of believability. (Note I didn't say "realism.")
That's pretty much all I have to say about Advent Children at this point. _________________

I just got done watching Advent Children myself, and I loved it! Though it left a few gap holes I didn't quite understand, but I will not spoil, and yes I still plan to get the U.S. release when it arrives to add to my collection *clenches his $5 pre-order from Gamestop*, but I think this movie was worth the wait, and the fight scenes was wicked! Thanks Square-Enix, I just wish I saw this on the big screen, im sure it would of selled awesome in theatres! Also no thanks to the U.S. Department of Square-Enix for not releasing this movie on time like they said they would at E3, grrr! Still awesome movie! 8 outta 10 from HCH! _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

Omg, SO CONFUSING. But still good. Graphics were very pretty, story was pretty coherent for someone who only knew the BASICS of FF7... but like Timestones said, the fight scenes were very WHIPPY-- and slooow... AND FAST! And sloooow... Kind of annoying. Bad dude's cell phone ring made me laugh, the Moogle plushie made me smile, and that cat... with the crown... on the Red lion thing, he was very cute! ^_^
I know nothing of Final Fantasy... but I want to play this one now, just to see the story. I hate RPGs, though... 'specially the FF kind.. bah. What exactly is Geo... that Geosickness disease? And how did Aer... Aeris? I wonder how she died, I've seen that scene of Cloud lowering her in the water a million times, but... oh well.
Go go gadget Google! ^_^ |

If you have not played FF7, there is no way you can understand this movie. I saw a part of it today on some guy's laptop during my break. I had to leave for class just after [spoil:8f7e80b21d]Bahamut started tearing up the tower[/spoil:8f7e80b21d].
Reno was funny, though. By contrast, he was totally serious in the game. _________________

If you guys were following you would have noticed that they thought jenova was being held in the sqaure where they had all the children set up, to rebirth her they would need to sacrifice some thing, plus kadaj had no way of knowing that the jenova cells would transform him into sepiroth, though they all were made from the same cells to replicate jenova would have taken alot of the geostigma... |

The new version of One Winged Angel rocked.
Too bad the battle between Cloud and Sephiroth was only fanservice. [spoil:913d00db5f]When he summoned the black clouds, I'd really thought that he was going to summon another Meteor from space, just like in the game.[/spoil:913d00db5f] _________________

I just downloaded this movie and it freaking rocked. Too bad they threw in Sephiroth just for fan service though. He should have been more involved in the storyline. And the visuals rocked my socks. I knew it was gonna be good but not that great. _________________

indeed it is sad. but i still like the fights. for some reason it reminds me of newground's flash movie. in which sephiroth is a cocky student who does nothing but sit on the side and listen to his own theme music.
hahah "Sephiroth!! Sephiroth"
oh okay back to topic
what is yuffie sick with? doesn't she have motion sickness? _________________
