Welcome one and all to my Len, not Lan series. It takes place during Megaman: NT Warrior Axess right after the episode Search Soul. It has some OC’s and I’m pretty sure that they’re not Mary Sues but if they are, please tell me. There will be romance later on in this but it won’t be fluffy at all. I hate that. Also, I mostly use the English names because oddly enough, I like most of them better. Sorry if that bothers you.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Episode 1: New Alliances
It was a dark and stormy day. The rain soaked everything in its path. Inside Ms. Mari’s classroom, however, things were nice and dry due to climate controller. Lan was taking advantage of this fact and was fast asleep.
“Lan,” said Ms. Mari. “Lan!”
“Huh, what!” said Lan.
“Now that your fully awake, why don’t you mind telling us what the answer to problem five is?”
The rest of the class snickered. Lan took a wild guess, “Ummm, 22?”
The teacher stared at him for a minute and then said, “That’s right Lan. 11 times 2 is 22. I didn’t think you were paying attention.”
"I wasn’t," thought Lan.
“Now that everyone’s awake, I think now would be a good time to introduce our new class member,” said Ms. Mari. “Class, please welcome Alan Clark”
A young boy walked into the classroom. He was about Lan’s height and had short blond hair. He wore a purple T-shirt with a pair of tan pants. Around his neck he wore a green locket. He also had bright green eyes. Alan smiled at the class. “Hi everyone,” he said timidly.
“Alan, why don’t you tell the class a little about yourself,” said Ms. Mari.
“Well,” said Alan. “My name is Alan Clark. I have one older sister. My favorite color is purple and I like music. I was born here in DenTech City, but my family moved to America. We just moved back due to…reasons.”
“Isn’t it exciting to have a world traveler in our class. Alan, why don’t you take a seat next to Maylu over there.” Alan nodded and sat down. Ms. Mari continued with the lesson. “Now, as I was saying, whenever you multiply by eleven you just have to double the number your multiplying by.” On and on the lesson went until finally the bell rang. Everyone excitedly got out of their seats and ran for the door.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Outside the school walking home, Lan and Maylu were talking about Alan. “So what do you think about him, Lan?” asked Maylu.
“I don’t know,” said Lan. “I don’t think he has a NetNavi because I didn’t see a PET. He also seemed kind of quiet but…” Lan trailed off.
“But what?”
“His eyes they were…different. They almost sparkled like he knew something I didn’t. What do you think about him?”
Maylu looked up at the sky. “I don’t know Lan. He seemed sort of—” she stopped in mid sentence. Lan was turning towards SciLab. “Lan, where are you going?”
“I have to go to SciLab. To drop off something for my dad.”
“Oh, can I come with you?”
“Sure.” The two of them headed off to SciLab together.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
After delivering the package from his mom to his dad (which turned out to be some of her homemade spaghetti), Lan decided to get a drink from the vending machine. When he got to the machine the two of them were surprised to find Chaud there drinking a soda.
“Chaud,” said Lan.
Chaud looked up. “Oh, hey Lan,” he said.
“Aren’t you supposed to be on a net saver mission?” asked Lan.
"I got done early, see you later.” He started to leave.
"Chaud never was one for small talk", thought Lan and then pushed it out of his mind. He turned to Maylu and said, “You never did tell me what you thought about Alan.”
Chaud stopped walking and listened in on their conversation. “Well,” said Maylu. “As I was saying, he seemed sort of sad. But I agree with what you said about his eyes. That bright green color is kind of creepy. But when I look at him I get the feeling that I could trust him if I needed to. You know what I’m saying?”
That’s when Chaud decided to interrupt. “Excuse me, but are you guys taking about Alan Clark?”
Lan looked confused at him. “Yeah, why? Do you know him?”
“Not as well as I know his sister. And if Alan’s back then that must mean that—”
“I’m back too!” said a voice. Chaud slowly turned around. Standing in front of him was a girl. She was a bit taller than him and was wearing black cargo pants with green shoes. She also was wearing a green strap-less shirt with a black short sleeve jacket over it. She had a purple locket around her neck, a green PET at her waist, and big, black glasses on her face. Most notable about her, however was her neck-length, green hair and her bright, green eyes that at the moment were filled with hatred. Every bit of that hatred was aimed directly at Chaud with a death glare.
He was clearly stunned. “Um, Melenda?”
“Yes, that’s me.”
“You look…different.”
“Let me respond to that statement in the following way:” She took a deep breath. “YOU BIG JERK!” she screamed and punched him in the face. Chaud fell to the ground.
“Chaud!” cried Maylu.
“Hey! What was that for?” said Lan angrily.
Melenda walked up to him and glared. “Are you his friend?” she asked.
Lan was now scared. “Ummmmmmm…”
She continued, “Since I’m in a good mood today, I’m going to spare you.” She turned and walked off.
“Wait Melenda!” said Lan.
Melenda turned around. “If you were smart, you’d call me Len.”
Lan looked confused. “But that’s my name.”
“Not Lan you idiot, Len!”
“How’d you know my name?”
“I have my ways,” and with that she turned and walked off.
Lan turned back to Maylu. She was helping Chaud get up. His left eye was swollen, black, and blue. “You okay?” she asked.
“I’m fine,” said Chaud.
“Who was that girl?” asked Lan.
“Her name’s Melenda, but I guess she calls herself Len now. We used to be friends when I was younger. Before she and her family moved to America.”
“You used to have friends when you were younger?” Lan teased. Chaud ignored this comment. “So anyway, why do you think she was so mad at you?” Lan asked.
“Probably because I never wrote, called, or E-mailed her after she left.”
“Ouch,” said Maylu. “I’d hate you too if you did that to me.”
Just then an alarm rang. Mr. Famous ran up to the three of them. “Hey Mr. Famous. What’s the problem?” said Lan.
“It’s just Famous, and viruses have invaded SciLab’s mainframe.” He said. Then he spotted Chaud’s eye. “What on Earth happened to you?”
“A green haired girl punched him in the face,” stated Maylu.
“Is that so? I wonder how she got into SciLab? No matter, we need to get rid of those viruses right away. They’ve locked up the entire building.”
“I’ll get rid of them,” said Chaud. “Jack in Protoman! Power up!” He jacked in Protoman.
“Don’t leave me out,” Lan said. “Jack in Megaman! Pow—” He was about to jack in Megaman when Mr. Famous stopped him.
“Wait Lan! Protoman and Chaud can handle this. We need you and Megaman to be ready in case there is a dimensional area forms.” Mr. Famous said.
“Oh all right,” Lan groaned.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
In the SciLab mainframe, Protoman surveyed the area. It was covered with viruses of all kinds. Protoman’s right arm turned into a sword and he set to work deleting all the viruses in the area. Soon they were all gone. “That was almost too easy,” said Protoman. Something stirred to the left of him.
“Protoman! On your left!” said Chaud. A ball of electric energy was heading straight towards him. Protoman jumped out of the way just in time. When the digital smoke cleared he saw none other than Flashman standing there.
”Flashman,” growled Protoman.
“Shocking isn’t it?” said Flashman. Protoman lunged at Flashman with his sword. Flashman blocked the attack. “You’ll have to do better than that.”
“Oh don’t worry,” Protoman said. He attacked again. Once more Flashman blocked the attack. On and on it went, each Navi trying to gain an advantage over the other. Unfortunately, this proved almost impossible since the two of them were pretty evenly matched.
“Face it, you don’t have the strength to defeat me,” said Flashman.
“Then why don’t I even the odds?” said a voice.
Both Navis turned to see who had said that. There standing on a ledge was a green Navi neither of them had ever seen before. She was a girl Navi that was slightly shorter than Protoman. She was wearing black boots and black gloves. She also had black shoulder pads and a black waistband. Her eyes were brown and she had neck-length brown hair. On her green helmet were three black ridges. On her chest was a symbol that looked like a green hourglass with a black background. The most notable thing about her, however, was a set of dragonfly-like wings that she had on her back.
“Whoever you are,” said Flashman. “You must not be very ‘bright’ if you’ve come here to challenge me.”
“My net op sent me in here to see who was messing with the SciLab mainframe, and judging by your bad puns, my guess is that would be you,” the mysterious girl Navi said.
“Enough talk, lets fight. Neon Light!” Flashman sent an energy blast on the ground headed straight for her.
“As you wish.” She took to the air just before the blast hit her. Flashman sent another energy ball at her. She dodged that one easily, and the one after that and the one after that. In fact, she dodged every thing he sent at her. She just zipped around in the air like it was nothing. “You know in order to beat me you actually have to hit me first,” she said.
Flashman growled and was about to launch another attack when Protoman came up and hit him from behind with his sword. Flashman staggered over. “ Grrrrrrrrr, I’ll remember this,” he said and logged out.
Protoman walked over to the green Navi. “My guess is that you not here to thank me for distracting him long enough for you to hit him,” she said.
“Who are you? And what are you doing here?” he asked.
“Didn’t you hear me before? My net op sent me in to see who was screwing up SciLab’s computer.”
“Who is your net op?”
She smiled mischievously. “That’s a secret…for now.”
“You still haven’t told me who you are.”
“The name’s Pixel. Don’t forget it,” and with that she logged out.
“Who was that?” asked Chaud.
“Don’t know,” said Protoman. “But it looks like my work here is done.” He logged out.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Back in the human world, Chaud turned to the rest of the group. “Do any of you know of a green NetNavi named Pixel?”
“Nope,” said Maylu.
“I’ve never heard that name before,” said Lan.
“Me neither. Why do you ask?” asked Mr. Famous.
“She helped Protoman defeat Flashman,” answered Chaud.
“What! Flashman was there! Man I knew I should’ve jacked in Megaman!” exclaimed Lan.
“Maybe she’s a Darkloid?” Maylu wondered out loud.
“That might be,” Chaud said. “She might have lied to us about having a net op so we’d trust her.”
“Dr. Hikari and I will look into it. In the meantime, you three better get home. It’s getting late,” said Mr. Famous.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
In his room, Lan was sitting on the bed.
“Hey Lan, shouldn’t you be doing your homework?” inquired Megaman.
“I know but I can’t stop thinking about that mysterious NetNavi. I wonder if she’s on our side.”
“Chaud did mention that she said she had a net op.”
“He also said that she might be lying.” Lan lay down. “I wonder how she
got into SciLab’s system.”
“Well, she either hacked in or she was jacked in from somewhere inside SciLab.”
“What about that girl, Len? What do you think about her?”
“I don’t know. She seemed pretty tough.”
“Can you believe what she did to Chaud? I mean, I know he used to be a big jerk but I don’t remember anyone giving him a black eye.”
“You used to want to.”
Lan laughed and then yawned. “Man, am I tired. I think I’ll get to sleep. Good night Megaman.” Lan clicked off the lights.
“Good night Lan.” Megaman smiled. Then he realized something. “Hey wait Lan! What about your homework?”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Well that’s it for Episode One. I know it kind of sucked but I hope to do better later on. I also know that Megaman didn’t have much of a role in this episode. Don’t worry he will have a bigger part in the next episode. I’m also sorry if this episode was a little boring. I need ideas for filler episodes so please give me ideas in your reviews. _________________ “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

Thank you to the people who gave me reviews. I really liked your suggestions. Even though some of you may guess whom Pixels net op is, it won’t be revealed until later on. Now here is episode two. Oh, and one more thing. I don’t own Megaman NT Warrior Axess. This story is simply a fanfic. I forgot to say that in episode one. However I don’t want anyone to use my characters without my permission.
Episode 2: Heat It Up
“This has probably been the worst day of my life,” groaned Lan while he was skating home from his detention at school.
“You say that all the time, Lan,” Megaman pointed out.
“Yeah, but today I was late and didn’t get my homework done. Usually it’s just one or the other.”
“You know if you had actually done your homework like I said and gotten up on time you wouldn’t have gotten detention.”
“Gee, thanks for reminding me. Now I have even more homework for tonight.” Lan sighed and looked across the street. There on the other side of the street was Alan. “Hey! That’s Alan over there!”
“Why don’t you go see if you can find out any info about Len?”
“I’m way ahead of you, Megaman.” He ran across the street. “Hey Alan!”
Alan stopped and waited for him. “What is it?” Alan asked.
“How was your second day at our school?” Lan said.
“It was okay, I guess.”
They walked on in silence for a while. Finally Lan said, “I met up with your sister yesterday.”
“Oh no, what did she do?”
“She gave Chaud Blaze a black eye.”
Alan sighed. “I was afraid of that. She’s really mad at him for not contacting her in any way after she left, even though she sent tons of letters to him.”
“Yeah, I guess I would be mad too.” Lan thought for a moment before asking his next question. “Hey, do you have a NetNavi?”
“Nah, but my sister does.”
“Really? Who is it?”
“I can’t say.”
“What do you mean you can’t say?!”
“Look Lan, we all have our secrets. Just respect mine. I gotta go.” He turned a corner. “See you tomorrow at school.” Alan ran off.
“Well he sure seemed like he was in a hurry,” remarked Megaman.
“Yeah it’s almost like he was avoiding my question,” said Lan.
“There sure is a lot more to Len and him than meets the eye.” Megaman said.
“Yeah…” Lan trailed off. Then his PET beeped.
“Lan, there’s a message for you from Mr. Famous.”
“Okay, let’s here it.”
Mr. Famous’s face appeared on the screen. “Agent Lan, we have a mission for you. Are you up to it?”
“Of course I am, Mr. Famous.”
“It’s just Famous.”
“Whatever. What’s the mission?”
“A storm of viruses have invaded the local solar power plant’s system and I want you and Megaman to see if a Darkloid is behind it. I’ll send you a map of where it is.”
“Got it. Over and out.” Lan flipped his PET shut. Man, these Darkloid attacks are getting more and more frequent. They don’t even take a day off! he thought. Lan skated towards the power plant.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
When Lan finally arrived at the power plant, he rushed to the main office. "It sure is hot in here", he thought. “Hey! What are you doing here?” asked one of the control people.
“I’m a NetSaver,” said Lan.
“No way, you’re too young.” Lan showed him his badge. “Son of a gun! Well, you can jack in.”
“Thanks. Jack in Megaman! Power up!”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
In the cyber world, Megaman set to work deleting the viruses. Unfortunately, there were just way too many of them. “Lan, I need a battle chip,” he said.
“Let’s try this,” said Lan. “BambooLance, battle chip in, download!”
Many sticks of bamboo came up from the ground and skewered the viruses, deleting a good portion of them. Megaman easily took care of the rest.
“Well that was really easy,” Lan said in the human world. “Megaman, go to the control center and see if you can find out if any damage was done.” "Man, am I hot! I can barely think". Lan thought.
“Got it Lan.” Megaman headed over to the control panel. “Well everything seems all right…uh oh.”
“What is it?”
“It looks like all of the solar panels are redirecting to one spot.”
“Where is that?”
“The building you’re in right now.”
“What?!”
“You’d better get everyone out of the building quick. The temperature is 91°F and rising.”
“No wonder it was so hot!” Lan turned to the people in the control room. “I’m going to need everyone to evacuate the building until it cools down.” Everyone in the room rushed out the door. Who could be doing this? he thought.
“Lan, you’d better leave too,” said Megaman.
“No way am I leaving you behind. I can take the heat. See if you can rework the system to move those solar panels.”
Megaman set to work. Then he stopped and said, “You know, right about now is when a Darkloid usually attacks.”
As if on cue, a Neon Light attack was sent hurling towards Megaman. He dodged just in time. He looked to the left where the attack came from. Flashman was standing there. “Hello blue boy,” said Flashman.
“Flashman!” said Megaman. “So you’re the one behind this!”
“That’s right, Megaman, and now it’s time to battle. Neon Light!” He launched another attack at Megaman. Megaman barely got out of the way.
“I can’t keep dodging him forever. Lan, I need a battle chip.” Megaman said.
“You got it Megaman. FireSword, battle chip in and download.” Lan loaded the battle chip.
Megaman’s arm turned into a fiery sword. He lunged at Flashman. Flashman blocked the attack with a light shield. “Face it, you don’t have enough of a spark to defeat me.”
That’s when they both heard someone laugh. “Enough of a spark?” said the voice. “Oh give me a break.” The two fighting Navis turned to see who said that. It was none other than Pixel.
“You again! How dare you interrupt my mission. Who are you?” said Flashman.
“I’m Pixel and your causing trouble which I cannot just sit by and let you do.”
“Your Pixel!” exclaimed Megaman.
“You’ve heard of me? Well I guess Protoman must have told you.”
“Enough talk, let’s fight! Neon Light!” Flashman yelled and launched an attack at Pixel.
She easily dodged the attack. “Poison Barb!” she yelled and threw four barbs at Flashman. One of them hit him and seemed to do nothing.
“You know I really expected a more powerful attack from someone who could so easily dodge my attacks,” said Flashman. Pixel just smiled as if she wasn’t worried at all.
Finally Megaman stepped in. “Try this for a powerful attack!” he said and slashed Flashman across the chest.
“You may think you’ve won, Megaman, but you haven’t!” Flashman yelled and then logged out.
Pixel flew over to Megaman. “Before you ask, no, I am not a Darkloid, and yes, I am on your side,” she said.
“How do you know about Darkloids?” asked Megaman.
“Ummmmmm…”
“Megaman!” said Lan from the human world. “Hurry and move those solar panels! The heat is getting unbearable!”
“You go ahead and jack out,” said Pixel. “I’ll fix the solar panels.”
“How do I know I can trust you?” questioned Megaman who by now was very suspicious.
“You don’t, but the temperature is 102°. If Lan collapses from the heat, you won’t be able to jack out.”
“She’s right, Megaman. I hate to admit it but I’m already feeling faint,” said Lan. He jacked out Megaman.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Back in the human world, Lan slowly walked out of the room. “Lan, are you okay?” asked Megaman.
“Just a little tired,” said Lan. “Maybe…I’ll just…lie down…”
“Lan no! Don’t close your eyes! LAN!” But it was too late. Lan collapsed from the heat. He was about to hit the floor when someone caught him.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
When Lan came to he found that it was a lot cooler. Cooler than it had been anyway. He sat up only to find that Len was standing over him. “Len?” he said. “Is that you?”
“Who else do you know with green hair?” she said.
“What are you doing here?”
“My little brother overheard your conversation with that Mr. Famous person and told me. So I came out of curiosity.”
“So now you know I’m a NetSaver?”
“Oh Alan and I knew long before that.”
“What?! How?!”
“Uhhhhhhhhh…”
Just then a shift in the color scheme of the hallway saved Len from having to answer that question. Lan looked out the window. Hexagonal things were covering the entire building. “A dimensional area!” cried Lan. He pulled out his PET. “Megaman! What is it this time? Is it a virus?”
“It’s not a virus, Lan, it’s—” Megaman never got to finish that sentence because at that moment, Flashman materialized in front of Lan and Len.
“Hello kids,” Flashman said and launched an attack at the two of them. They both dove out of the way.
“I hope you have a plan!” screamed Len.
“As a matter of fact I do,” Lan said. He pulled out his SynchroChip. “Ready Megaman?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” said Megaman. Lan loaded some battle chips into his PET. Then he put in the SynchroChip and crossfused.
A bright light enveloped Lan and when it faded, Megaman was standing there! Or at least that’s what it looked like to Len. “Flashman!” said Lan. “You’re going down!” CF Megaman fired a mega-buster shot at Flashman. Flashman blocked the attack with a light shield. “CyberSword battle chip in, download!” CF Megaman’s arm turned into a sword. He lunged at Flashman. Once again Flashman blocked, but this time with his arm.
“Well this has been fun, but now I think it’s time I took this up a notch,” Flashman held out his hand. A dark chip formed in it.
“A dark chip!” exclaimed Len and Lan together.
“How’d you know that?” Lan asked Len.
“Talk later! Fight now!” yelled Len.
Flashman absorbed the dark chip. “Ah,” he said. “I can feel the power. This fight will be your last.”
Lan charged at Flashman with his CyberSword. Flashman caught it with his hands and broke it with ease. Then he slammed an electrically charged fist into Lan sending him flying back. Lan hit the wall with a thud and slumped to the floor. Flashman turned to Len. “And now it’s your turn, human,” he said. Len gulped and closed her eyes. However just before Flashman launched his attack, he stopped. Len opened her eyes and looked at him. He had fallen to his knees and was shaking all over. It looked like he was having trouble moving. Len smiled. "Well it’s about time," she thought.
Just then a giant cannon shot hit Flashman in the side. Flashman immediately logged out. The dimensional area went away and CF Megaman turned back into normal Lan.
“What did you hit him with?” Len said.
“ZetaCannon,” said Lan. "I wonder what was wrong with Flashman," he thought. Then he said, “Okay, now would you mind telling me how you know about dark chips and all that other stuff?”
“Well sure Lan, I—look! Another dimensional area!” She pointed out the window.
Lan whirled around and looked out the window. There was nothing there. Lan turned back around. “There’s no dimensional—HEY!” He noticed that Len was gone.
“You certainly fell for that one,” Megaman said from Lan’s PET.
“Oh be quiet Megaman,” Lan said and headed home.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
In Shademan’s base, Flashman knelt before his master. “Did you complete your mission?” Shademan said.
“Yes master, I discovered the name of the Navi who has been recently messing with our plans.”
“And?”
“Her name is Pixel.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Okay, episode two is done so please review! Suggestions for episodes would be very nice, along with constructive criticism. I’d like to know if I’ve done any thing wrong. _________________ “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

Interesting plot so far. My only nitpick is that the phrase "hexagonal things" seems a bit off/doesn't mesh well with the rest of the narrative. Perhaps just "hexagons" or "a hexagonal dome" [or something that better fits however you intended to describe the dimensional area] would work better.
Looking forward to more ^_^ _________________ Thanks for the avatar hobbit_hunter! |

I want to thank everyone for the reviews, even though there were no suggestions. I also want to say that this series is based off the English anime series and not the game. Also, this episode will have some similarities to the episode, Shademan’s Ambition, but I assure you it will be quite different. The same disclaimers apply to this chapter as did to the last one and any characters that you don’t see in the series belong to me so don’t use them without my permission.
Episode 3: Duel with the Ghoul
“She knew everything!” exclaimed Dr. Hikari. Lan was back at SciLab filling everyone in on what happened at the solar power plant.
“Let’s see, she knew about dark chips, the fact that I’m a net saver, and judging by the lack of surprise on her face when I crossfused, I’d say she knew about that ahead of time too,” Lan stated.
“This is bad,” said Mr. Famous. “If both she and her brother knew about all those things…well I’d hate to think of the consequences if everyone knew.”
“What did you say her name was again?” asked Chief Keifer.
“Len Clark,” answered Lan.
“She has the same name as you? That’s odd. It must be a nickname,” said Mr. Famous.
“Not Lan, Len,” said Chaud who still had a black eye. “But you are right, it is a nickname. Her real name is Melenda.”
“You know this girl Chaud?” Dr. Hikari said.
“We used to be best friends when I was younger. Then she and her family moved to America and we stopped contacting each other.”
“You mean you stopped contacting her,” Lan retorted.
“Do you know who her parents are, or at least what they do for a living?” inquired Manuela.
“I’m not sure, but I think her dad’s a programmer,” answered Chaud.
Dr. Hikari and Mr. Famous looked at each other with a look of sudden realization. “It can’t be,” said Dr. Hikari. “It just can’t be him.”
“It can’t be who, Dad?” Lan asked.
Mr. Famous spoke up. “Dr. Alfred Clark.”
“Who’s that?”
“Dr. Clark was probably the best programmer the world had ever known. He could work wonders with any type of computer. The only thing is, he and his wife died in a car accident about three months ago in America,” Dr Hikari explained
“So you’re saying that Len’s an orphan?” said Chaud.
“Yes,” said Dr. Hikari.
“If that’s so, then how did she end up back here in Japan?” wondered Manuela. “The only way to get here from America is by plane and I know for a fact that tickets aren’t cheap. So the question is where did she get the money since she obviously isn’t old enough to receive any inheritance.”
Chief Keifer spoke up, “Another question I have is about that mysterious NetNavi, Pixel. I want to know whose side she’s on.”
“It is strange how she always shows up when there is a Darkloid attack,” remarked Chaud.
“Dr. Hikari and I have been using every resource we have but we still haven’t found anything proving she’s not a Darkloid. So until we do, it would be safe to assume she’s not our friend,” said Mr. Famous.
“Lan, doesn’t Alan go to your school?” asked Dr. Hikari.
“Yeah we’re in the same class, why?” Lan said.
“I want you to ask him how he and Len know about everything.”
“Okay, but I doubt he’ll tell me any thing.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
The next day after school, Lan tried to meet up with Alan. He finally saw Alan at the edge of the schoolyard. “Hey Alan,” he said. “Wait up! I need to talk to you!” Alan waited for him.
“What do you want?” asked Alan.
“I want to know how you and Len know about dark chips and all that other stuff,” Lan answered.
“I can’t tell you,” Alan said.
“Why not?”
“Look Lan, I don’t want my sister to get in trouble.”
“Why would she get in trouble?”
“Hey look! There’s Maylu behind you!” Lan turned around but saw no one there. He turned back around to face Alan only to find him running across the street.
“HEY! Get back here!” yelled Lan. Alan kept on running. “Man, I can’t believe I fell for that again!” Lan strapped on his skates and took off after Alan. He had a good lead but Lan was faster. Just as Lan was about to catch him, Alan turned down an alley and climbed over the fence at the end of it. Unfortunately for Lan, he was going too fast to stop and crashed into a bunch of trashcans that were in front of the fence.
Lan slowly got up. “Ow, that hurt, a lot.”
“Well you shouldn’t have been going so fast,” said Megaman from the PET.
“I know, I know, but I just had to catch up to him.”
“Where’d he get to anyway?”
“He sure is athletic. He easily climbed over the fence.”
“Wow,”
“You said it Megaman.” Lan sighed. “I guess I’d better get home. I can always talk to him tomorrow.” Lan skated off towards his house.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Meanwhile on the other side of the fence, Alan took a few minuets to catch his breath. Len was right; Lan did come looking for anwsers. Good thing I got away, he thought. He looked up to see where he was and gulped. He was standing in a graveyard. Oh man, just my luck. Alan walked around and looked at some of the tombstones. One of them said, ‘Ken Hasuki: 1821-1901.’ Funny, Alan thought. The tombstone is over 100 years old yet it looks almost brand new. He walked around a bit until he came to a large stone building. He figured that it must be a crypt and moved on. He was walking along when a tree root tripped him and he fell flat on his face. Then Alan heard someone walking. Instinct told him to stay on the ground so instead of getting up so instead, he turned his head towards where the sound was coming from. Ms. Yuri was walking towards the crypt. (Of course, Alan didn’t know it was Ms. Yuri.) Alan watched her enter the crypt. He waited for a minute and then saw her come out again with a black box. Ms. Yuri stumbled over a root and some of whatever was in the box came out. She picked up most of the things that came out and walked away. When Alan was sure she was gone, he ran over to where she had stumbled and looked around on the ground. Nothing was there except grass and dirt. Then something caught his eye. He picked it up and gasped. It was a dark chip.
Alan ran out of the graveyard as fast as he could. He ran all the way to the old, abandoned hotel building where he and Len lived. He burst through the door of the room he and Len stayed in. “Len! Len!” he cried. “I found something! I found something!”
Len was studying and was not happy about being interrupted. “Stop yelling, Alan, can’t you see I’m studying?”
“Yeah but this thing is really important.”
“Is it a spider? You know how I hate them.”
“No, it’s a dark chip.”
“A WHAT!”
“A dark chip, see?” He held it out for her to see.
“Where in the world did you get that!?” Alan relayed the whole story for her. When he was through, Len took a deep breath. “Okay, listen up. My guess is from your story that the whoever made the dark chips store a lot of them there so here’s what I think we should do…” She outlined her plan for her brother and then the two of them set to work making it happen.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
About an hour later, Chief Keifer and Manuela were talking.
“Did you say someone found where they store some of the dark chips?” asked Chief Keifer.
“Yes sir, we received an anonymous tip showing the location. It’s at a section of the city graveyard.”
“A graveyard? Who would store dark chips there?”
“If it is true, that’s probably why the Darkloids store them there. Because no one would think to look there.”
“It might be a trap.”
“I’m aware of that sir. But I think we should take every step we can to stop the dark chip problem.”
“All right, but be careful.” Manuela nodded in agreement.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Unbeknownst to the Net Police at the time, someone else was already checking out the graveyard, Len and her little brother. They were exploring the crypt that Alan had seen Ms. Yuri come out of. At this particular time, they were having an argument.
“I can’t believe you let the security camera see you!” Len yelled at her little brother.
“Well how was I supposed to know it was there! I mean, who puts security cameras in crypts anyway?” retorted Alan.
“People who are storing dark chips there, that’s who!”
Alan calmed down a bit. “So what do we do now? Do we destroy the camera?”
“Nah, there’s no point. It’s already seen us. Anyway, the Net Police will be here soon so until then we need to find out where those dark chips came from.” The two of them looked around some more but found nothing. Len leaned on the back wall.
“I don’t get it. Where did that box come from? There’s nothing in here, not even a coffin.” Alan pounded on one of the stones that made up the side wall in frustration. The stone Alan hit moved into the wall a bit. The whole back wall of the crypt moved away revealing a staircase which Len fell down because she was leaning on the wall. “Sis! Are you okay!”
“Get down here and look at this!” cried Len.
Alan looked at the camera one last time. At least it can’t hear us, he thought.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Little did they know, the security camera could hear them and Miss Yuri and the Mysterious Man were watching and listening to their every move.
“So what should we do about them?” asked Ms. Yuri.
“Leave that to me,” the Mysterious Man answered. He pressed a button on his chair. Up in space a rocket launched from a satellite headed towards Earth. The Mysterious Man then contacted Shademan.
“What do you want this time?” said Shademan in an annoyed tone.
“I need you to send a Darkloid to get rid of someone for me. You will be rewarded with dark chips, of course.”
Shademan’s eyes narrowed. “Fine, I have just the Darkloid in mind.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Inside the graveyard, Alan and Len were underneath the crypt. The whole room was covered with boxes. Len had opened a few of those boxes revealing that the contents were dark chips. “Wow,” said Alan looking around the room. “So that’s where those dark chips came from.”
Len looked around at the room. “This room is humongous! There’s no way it could have been built with out disturbing some of the graves. This whole graveyard must be fake!”
Just then, the whole room shifted color. Len immediately recognized what was happening. “A dimensional area!” she cried.
“You’re kidding! That’s what a dimensional area looks like.” Alan paused for a second before saying, “Cool.”
Something materialized in front of Len and Alan. He looked like a standard Navi except he was rotting. “Uhhhggg…Zombieman…must…destroy…you,” the decaying Navi said. He raised his arm and prepared to launch an attack.
“What do we do, sis?” asked Alan.
“Follow my lead…RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!” Len turned around and ran.
“Sounds good to me!” screamed Alan as he took off running too.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
At Lan’s house, Lan was busy working on his homework. Or, to be more accurate, he was sitting at his desk with his pencil hovering over the paper daydreaming.
“You know Lan,” said Megaman, “Doing your homework actually entitles you to write stuff down.
“I know Megaman, it’s just—” Lan’s PET beeped.
“Hey Lan, you got a message from Manuela,” Megaman said.
“Okay, let’s hear it.”
Manuela’s face appeared on the screen of Lan’s PET. “Lan I need your help with a dimensional area that has just formed over a graveyard,” she said.
“Why a graveyard?” asked Lan.
“We think that dark chips are stored there.”
“Wow, really?”
“Well there’s no way to know for sure unless we get inside. You’ll be helping Chaud, he’s on his way there already. Here are the coordinates.”
“Got it, I’m on my way.” Lan took off. “Come on Megaman, let’s get going.” Megaman didn’t respond. “Megaman, are you okay?”
“Did she say graveyard?” Megaman asked with a bit of fear in his voice.
“Yeah, you’re not scared, are you?” Lan said.
“No, not at all, let’s go.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
When Lan arrived at the graveyard, Chaud was already there. “What took you so long?” asked Chaud.
Lan searched his head for an excuse. “Traffic, so how do we get inside?”
“I’ve had a hard time finding a way in myself,” Chaud admitted.
Lan looked around. He saw some cars pass by. “Hey,” he said. “I’ve got an idea.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Meanwhile, inside the dimensional area, Len and Alan were in big trouble. They had been running away from Zombieman, who was surprisingly fast for a rotting Navi, and had just run into a dead end. They turned around to face the approaching Darkloid.
“This is the end!” cried Len.
“Well you lived a good life, right?” remarked Alan.
“I’m only in 7th grade!”
“I said good, not long.”
Zombieman approached and prepared to launch an attack.
“I’m seeing my life flash before my eyes.” Len said.
“Funny, all I’m seeing is an evil Navi who's about to kill us.” Alan said.
“OH SHUT UP!” Len screamed.
Zombieman raised his arm. “Uhg…Cadaver…Blast!”
“Cadaver Blast?” said Alan. “That’s a really stupid name for an attack.”
“Oh great, I’m going to die and on my tombstone it’ll say, Len Clark: Died by Cadaver Blast,” groaned Len.
Energy accumulated into Zombieman’s hand. Alan hugged Len and prepared for the worst. But it never came. Instead of hitting Len and Alan, Zombieman’s shot went wild. Zombieman was hit by something and flew into a tree. Len looked where he had been standing. There was CF Megaman and CF Protoman. They were about as surprised to see Alan and Len as Len and Alan were to see them.
“What are you two doing here?” asked Len. Before either Lan or Chaud had a chance to answer, Len said, “Never mind. Boy, am I glad to see at least one of you two.”
“What are you two doing here?” asked Chaud. Both Len and Alan ignored him.
“Here, let me try,” said Lan. “What are you two doing here?”
“Excellent question!” exclaimed Alan.
“Who do you think discovered the stash of dark chips?” Len said.
“You’re kidding!” exclaimed Lan.
“Shouldn’t you two be fighting that Darkloid?” asked Len.
At that very moment Zombieman crashed down from the tree above. He groaned, “Zombieman…will…destroy…ALL OF YOU!” He held out hand. “Ugh…CADAVER BLAST!” He launched an attack at the four of them. Len and Alan dove out of the way while Lan and Chaud sliced through the attack with a CyberSword. “Your…time… is…up!” shouted Zombieman as he raised his hands to the sky. Two digital skeletons with swords and shields advanced towards Lan and Chaud. The two crossfused NetSavers attacked but the skeletons just parried the attack. Then the skeletons launched an attack, one that Chaud and Lan had a hard time blocking.
“Swords aren’t working, we’ll have to try something else,” said Chaud.
“Got it,” Lan said. He jumped back. “Spreader, battle chip in, download!” Lan’s right hand turned into a weird looking cannon. Chaud jumped out of the way and Lan fired. The blast destroyed both skeletons.
While that was happening, Chaud ran up to Zombieman. “LongSword, battle chip in, and download!” Chaud slashed Zombieman.
“Your…too…late,” said Zombieman. “They…are…all…gone,” and with that he logged out.
“Well that was easy,” said Len.
“What do you mean it was easy! You weren’t even doing the fighting!” yelled Lan.
“Exactly.”
“Huh?”
“What I can’t figure out is why the dimensional area hasn’t gone away yet, unless…” She looked at her brother. “…the dark chips!” She and Alan took off running towards the crypt. Lan and Chaud soon followed.
When they got to the crypt, Len opened up the secret passage she had found earlier. The four of them went down to the basement only to see Spikeman holding the last box of dark chips.
“Spikeman!” cried Lan.
“Drop that box!” shouted Len.
“Uh, let me think, NO!” Spikeman said and logged out taking the dark chips with him. The dimensional area went away and Lan and Chaud returned to their normal selves.
Len pounded her fist against the wall in frustration. “I can’t believe we were too late!”
“I think now would be a good time for an explanation,” said Chaud. Len and Alan ignored him. “Well?” The two siblings were still silent. “I give up, Lan?”
“Would you mind telling us how you found out about all the dark chips that used to be here, and for that matter, how you know about all that NetSaver stuff?” Lan asked. Alan relayed the whole situation to him about how he and Len discovered the dark chips. When he was done, Lan asked how they got all their information.
“Well you see…” said Len trailing off. “We, well I’m, sort of…”
She never got to finish that sentence because at that moment the only door out shut. A voice sounded from a speaker within the room. “Very interesting,” it said.
“Hey, I know that voice, it’s Ms. Yuri!” said Lan.
“Who’s Ms. Yuri?” Alan asked.
“Well she’s not on our side, that’s for sure.” Lan said.
“I was wondering how the NetPolice found out about this place, and now I know.” Ms. Yuri said. “I guess we’ll have to be more careful next time. Oh well, at least you four wont be in our way for much longer.” She ended the transmission.
“I have a really bad feeling about this,” said Alan.
“We’ve got to get out of here,” said Len as she ran over to the terminal nearest to the door. “Jack in, Pixel! POWER UP!”
Chaud and Lan stared at her. “Pixel is your netNavi!” exclaimed Lan.
“What, you hadn’t figured that out yet? You’re dumber than I thought,” Len said.
“I AM NOT!”
“Look are you and your jerk of a friend going to jack in or not?”
“Oh, right. Jack in, Megaman! Power up!” Lan jacked in Megaman.
“Jack in Protoman! Power up!” Chaud jacked in too.
In the cyberworld, Megaman, Protoman, and Pixel checked out the area. Protoman and Pixel scanned the area for viruses while Megaman checked out the room stats.
“Bad news Lan,” said Megaman. “The room is air tight. No air can get in or out.”
“Then that means that there wont be enough air soon!” realized Lan. “Megaman, how long do we have before the air’s all gone?”
“You have about forty minutes left.”
“At least we have a long while.”
“Actually,” Len brought up. “We have about half that time because that’s how long it’ll take the carbon dioxide level to rise to a dangerous level.”
Chaud sprang into action. “Protoman, open that door!”
“You got it Chaud.” Protoman set to work trying to use the controls to open the door in the human world. He didn’t have much luck.
“Move over!” yelled Pixel shoving Protoman out of the way. Her hand turned into a weird plug that she plunged into the door controls.
“What are you doing?” said Protoman. Just then viruses attacked. Protoman decided the answer could wait and started to help Megaman delete the viruses.
“Pixel, initiate program SK 2.5,” said Len. Pixel’s eyes started to glow as data flew across them.
“What’s SK 2.5?” asked Lan.
“It’s what’s going to open that door,” replied Len.
“What does the SK mean?” asked Chaud suspiciously.
“Skeleton Key,” Alan piped up.
That’s when Chaud figured it all out. “It’s a hacking program! You’re a hacker!”
“Great job Alan,” said Len glaring at her brother. She sighed “Okay, so I’m a hacker, but I’ve never done any real terrible malicious cracking.”
“And you define terrible as…” Chaud said.
Len snapped, “None of your business. Let’s just focus on getting out of here. Pixel, how much longer?”
“It’ll take about five more minutes to figure out the code,” Pixel reported.
Len sighed. “That’s cutting it awfully close. The carbon dioxide level will be hazardous in eight minutes.”
There was silence in the room for a few minutes. Finally, Alan said, “So how did you guys get into the dimensional area?”
“We jumped into a truck which was driving towards the dimensional area. Then, at the last minute, the truck turned and we were flung out with enough speed to enter the dimensional area,” Lan explained.
“Wow Lan, that was the smartest thing I’ve heard you say all day,” said Alan.
“Thanks Alan,” said Lan. Then it hit him. “HEY! That wasn’t funny! I ought to—”
“Got it!” announced Pixel. The door opened. Lan, Chaud, and Len jacked out their Navies. Chaud ran up the stairs followed by Alan. Following Alan was Len and after her came Lan.
“Thanks for helping us back there,” said Lan.
“Anytime,” Len said. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’d better get going.”
“Wait! I have some questions for you!”
“I’ve revealed enough of my secrets today, later.”
She moved towards the door. Chaud blocked her way. “You’re not leaving until we get some answers,” he said.
Len smiled evilly. “Why, what a nice black eye you have.” Her smile faded and her green eyes narrowed. She pounded her fist into her hand. “How would you like another to match?”
Chaud contemplated this fact for a minute. He moved out of the way. Len strode out of the crypt with Alan trailing behind. Alan turned around to face Lan and Chaud. “And don’t even think of following us,” he said.
After they had left, Lan yelled at Chaud, “Why didn’t you stop her! We could have gotten some answers!”
“You have never been punched by her. It hurts a lot more than getting hit by a Darkloid,” Chaud responded. “Now come on, we’d better tell the people at SciLab about her.” Chaud left the crypt.
After he was gone, Lan pulled out his PET so he could talk to Megaman. “This has been some day, huh Megaman?”
“Yeah, it’s too bad we couldn’t get some of those dark chips.”
“I know, and Len. Can you believe she’s a hacker?”
“I just hope she hasn’t done anything illegal. She and Pixel didn’t seem like such bad guys. You know, besides the whole hating Chaud thing.”
“We’d better get down to SciLab.”
“Right.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
I know that this chapter was a lot longer than the last two, but I’m really proud of it. Please help me come up with ideas for new chapters. I’d also like some constructive criticism. Oh, and just for your information, the next chapter will be a Lan/Maylu chapter. _________________ “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

Thank you to all the people who reviewed my last fanfic, and NOT THANK YOU to all of you who didn’t come up with any suggestions. I need help with this! Really! Anyway, this episode is a Lan/Maylu episode for those of you who have been asking for one. Also, you may have noticed that some of the lines in my fanfics are familiar. That’s because I sometimes take my favorite lines from other things, like Daria (my favorite show)and Fairly Odd Parents(guilty pleasure), rephrase them and put them in my fanfics. Don’t get me wrong though, most of my lines are original. The last thing I need to tell you is that you will frequently hear a disease mentioned called microsis. There is no such thing as microsis. I made it all up because I couldn’t think of a real disease to use. And now here’s Episode Four.
Episode 4: Microsis
At SciLab, Lan and Chaud were telling Mr. Famous, Chief Keifer, Manuela, and Dr. Hikari about what happened at the graveyard.
“So the dark chips were all gone by the time you got there?” asked Chief Keifer.
“Sort of. We got to the graveyard in time, but we were delayed and a NetNavi called Spikeman got rid of the chips,” Chaud replied.
“You were delayed? By what?” Dr. Hikari said.
“Some Darkloid called Zombieman,” Lan said. “He was attacking Len and Alan.”
“Len and Alan were there!” exclaimed Mr. Famous.
“Didn’t we mention that before?” said Lan.
“But why they were there?” wondered Manuela.
“She told us that she and her brother were the ones that tipped off the NetPolice in the first place,” Lan explained.
“That’s not all she told us,” said Chaud. “She also let it slip that she was a hacker.”
“She’s a hacker?!” exclaimed Dr. Hikari.
“That would explain how she and her brother knew all those things. She probably hacked into our system,” said Mr. Famous.
“If that’s true then we’re in serious trouble,” remarked Lan.
“There's more. You know that mysterious Navi, Pixel? She’s Len NetNavi,” Chaud said.
“Well at least now we know that Pixel isn’t a Darkloid,” said Chief Keifer.
“That doesn’t mean she’s not a threat,” Manuela pointed out.
“I know, and until then we’ll all have to keep a close eye on her and Len.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Later on, Lan was roller blading home from SciLab while talking with Megaman.
“Can you believe it Megaman? Len is a hacker. No wonder she knew everything,” Lan said.
“I know, but when you really think about it, it’s not that surprising. Didn’t your dad say that her father was one of the greatest programmers that ever lived? He probably taught her everything he knew about computers,” Megaman pointed out.
“Yeah…” Just then, a very fast-moving body hit Lan. He fell to the ground along with the fast-moving body. “Hey! Watch where you’re going!” He looked up to see none other than the green-haired girl herself on the ground across from him. She was feeling her way around on the ground as if she was looking for something.
“Look, I—ACK—can’t see who you are so help me find my glasses first,” she said while coughing. Lan looked around and spotted her large black glasses. He handed them to her while noticing how thick they were. “Thanks,” she said and put on her glasses. Then she saw Lan. “Lan! What are you doing here?”
“I was just coming home from SciLab, and you?”
“I was just—ACK—going home.” She coughed again.
“To where?” Lan was suspicious by now.
Len snapped back at him. “Where I go is none of your—ACK—business,” she said as she coughed all over Lan. “Now if you’ll—ACK—excuse me, as soon as I find Dragonfly, I’ll be going.”
“Who’s Dragonfly?”
“Dragonfly’s my—ACK—skateboard. Here it is.” She picked up a skateboard with a green dragonfly on the back and skated off.
“Hey Megaman, did you notice anything different about her?” Lan asked after she was gone.
“From what I could tell, she was sick, what with her coughing and all.”
“Yeah but that can’t be right since she was fine earlier today at the graveyard.”
“Maybe she wasn’t fine and was just not telling us.” Megaman paused for a second and then said, “You realize that you’re probably going to get sick too because she coughed on you.”
“No way can that happen! I haven’t been sick in seven months!”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Two days later, Lan was sick as a dog.
“Oh, I don’t feel so good,” moaned Lan. His mother had taken him to the doctor’s office. He was in the waiting room.
“You don’t look so good either,” said Megaman.
The doctor came in with Lan’s mother. “Well Lan,” he said. “It looks like you have microsis.”
“What’s that?” asked Lan.
“It’s more commonly known as the headache-cough.”
“Why is it called that?”
“Because some people get headaches and some people get coughs. It’s nothing serious, but you will have to stay in bed for about two days.”
“Aw man!”
Just then an alarm went off. Lan saw some doctors running around. “What’s going on?” he asked one of them.
“Something has infiltrated the medical center’s computer,” the man said.
“Is there any place to jack in near here?”
“The main computer, why?”
“Thanks.” Lan ran off.
“Lan wait! You’re too sick!” said Lan’s mother but Lan was already gone.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” asked Megaman as Lan was running down the hall. “I mean, you are really sick.”
“Don’t worry, Megaman, I’ll be fine,” Lan said. He reached the main computer. “Jack in, Megaman! Power up!”
In the cyberworld, Megaman looked around at all the viruses. He jumped up and fired his MegaBuster at them. Soon they were all gone.
“Well that was easy,” said Megaman.
“Megaman! Look out!” cried Lan. Megaman jumped out of the way just as a column of fire shot towards him. Megaman whirled around. He immediately recognized the Navi that had attacked him.
“Burnerman!” Megaman exclaimed.
“That’s right and I’m ready to burn you into ashes. Burning Jet!” Burnerman fired at Megaman.
Lan quickly put in a battle chip. “AquaSword, battle chip in, download!”
Megaman’s arm turned into a sword. He slashed it unleashing a wave of water at Burnerman’s attack. The attack quickly dissipated. Next Burnerman rocketed towards Megaman. Megaman jumped out of the way just in time. Lan put in a Spreader battle chip and Megaman fired it at Burnerman. It hit him and smoke covered the area.
At that time, Protoman materialized next to Megaman. “Protoman!” said Megaman. “What are you doing here?”
“Chaud and I were sent here to stop whoever was messing with the medical center’s system. Guess we got here too late. What are you doing here?”
“Lan got sick and I guess we were here at the right time.”
Protoman turned towards the smoke. “So you think he’s defeated?”
The two Navis heard a snicker. The smoke cleared and Burnerman was standing there. “You’re too late,” he said. “I already have the data I need, and I think I found something useful too.” He logged out.
“Well that wasn’t so difficult. Still I wonder what he meant when he said that he found something useful?” Megaman said.
“No clue, but we better be careful,” said Protoman. He logged out. So did Megaman.
“Great job Megaman,” said Lan. “Now let’s get out of here my head feels like it’s going to explode!”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
At Shademan’s hideout, Burnerman was giving his report.
“Well,” said Shademan. “Was the mission a success? Did you get the data?”
“Yes my lord, and I found out something useful.”
“What is it?”
“That net op of Megaman’s is really sick. Now would be the perfect time to strike.”
Shademan smiled evilly. “Perfect. Not only will the generator be completed soon, but we’ll have that annoying human out of the way too.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
That evening at his house Lan was sitting in bed.
“I can’t believe I’m sick for two days,” Lan said to Megaman.
“Aw, come on Lan, it’s not that bad. At least you get to say home from school for a few days,” Megaman pointed out.
“Yeah but that just means I’ll have more homework to do.”
“Good point.”
At that moment Maylu came into his room. “Hi Lan!” she said.
“Maylu, what are you doing here?” asked Lan.
“I heard that you were sick and decided to come see you. And to give you your homework,” she answered.
“Wow Lan, homework and a disease. This sure is your lucky day,” Megaman teased. Maylu laughed.
“That isn’t funny Megaman!” yelled Lan.
“But it’s true,” said Megaman. Maylu laughed even more.
Lan’s mother came upstairs. “Lan,” she said. “I need to go to the bank for a little while. Maylu, will you mind looking after him for a while?”
“Not at all Mrs. Hikari,” Maylu replied.
Lan complained, “Mom! I don’t need someone to look after me!” But it was too late. Lan’s mom was already gone.
“Don’t worry Lan,” said Maylu. “We can do our homework together.”
“Yeah, Lan usually does a better job on his homework when someone else is there,” Megaman said.
“MEGAMAN!” Lan yelled at his Navi.
After working on his homework for a while, Lan, who was bored to tears, decided to take his mind off his homework by trying to go down to the kitchen for something to eat. Maylu stopped him. “And just where do you think you’re going?” she asked.
“I’m going to get something to eat,” replied Lan.
“Oh no you’re not. You’re supposed to stay in bed. I’ll cook something up for you.”
Lan got a panicked look on his face. “Uh…that’s okay. I’m not hungry anymore. You don’t need to do that,” he said very quickly.
“Don’t worry,” said Maylu. “I’ll be right back.” She left the room.
As soon as she left Lan got to work on thinking how he could get out of the house. I can’t go out the front door, she’ll notice me, he thought. Aha! I’ve got it!
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
A few minuets later, Lan was sitting on a bench at the park. He was the only one there.
“I’m impressed Lan,” said Megaman. “Not only did you climb out of the window of your bedroom while you were sick, but you made it all the way to the park without collapsing.”
“I’m not that sick Megaman,” said Lan but at the same time he thought, My head does feel like it’s going to explode though.
“What I can’t figure out is why you wanted to get away from Maylu so badly,” wondered Megaman. “Isn’t she your friend?”
“She is, but…” Lan closed his eyes.
“But what?” When Lan didn’t answer him Megaman yelled, “Lan! Are you okay?”
Lan shook out of it. “I’m fine, Megaman, it’s just that this headache is killing me.”
“Maybe you should go home.”
Lan laughed. “And face a punishment worse than death? I don’t think so.”
“I don’t think Maylu will get that mad at you.”
“I’m not talking about her anger, I’m talking about her cooking.”
“Uh oh, let me guess. She can’t cook well, can she?”
“Let’s just say that she’s DenTech City’s local poisoner.” The two of them burst out laughing.
Their laughter was cut short, however, when they heard a voice yell, “THAT’S NOT FUNNY, LAN HIKARI!” Lan put his hand over his ears to block out some of the noise. It was making his headache even worse. “So, you think my cooking’s terrible, do you?!”
“Busted,” said Megaman. Normally Lan would have said something back but Maylu was still yelling.
“I’ll have you know that Dex used to eat my cooking all the time!” she shouted.
“Dex would eat anything,” Lan muttered. “Even the cafeteria food.”
“I heard that!” she glared at Lan only to find that he had fallen asleep. “LAN! Wake up!”
Lan slowly opened his eyes. “Ohhh, my headache. I think it’s getting worse.”
Maylu softened immediately. “We should probably get you back home.” She helped him stand up.
Just then the worst thing that could possibly happen, happened. A dimensional area formed around the park. “A dimensional area!” exclaimed Megaman.
“Oh no! Not now!” said Maylu.
Burnerman materialized in front of them. Maylu was still helping Lan stand up. “What’s wrong? Did I come at a bad time?” taunted Burnerman. Maylu glared. “Tell you what, I’ll make this quick.” He held out his hand and a dark chip formed in it. He then absorbed it. He fired a wall of fire at Maylu and Lan. The two of them dove out of the way just in time.
Lan slowly got to his feet. “It’s time to teach this guy a lesson. Ready Megaman?” Lan loaded battle chips into his PET.
Maylu figured out what Lan was about to do. “No Lan, you can’t! You’re too sick!”
“I don’t have any other choice. SynchroChip in and download! Crossfusion!” A bright light enveloped Lan while he crossfused. When the light went away, Lan was standing there in crossfusion mode. Please be careful Lan, thought Maylu.
That was when Lan noticed something. He didn’t have a head-splitting headache anymore! “Hey Megaman! Something’s weird, I don’t feel sick anymore.” Burnerman launched an attack at Lan. He jumped out of the way and fired his MegaBuster.
“I’m not sure but I think that the crossfusion is holding back the disease,” Megaman said.
“Well I’m not about to argue. Spreader! Battle chip in, download!” Lan’s arm turned into a type of cannon, which he fired at Burnerman. Burnerman yelled in frustration when the attack hit him.
“You’ll pay for that!” screamed Burnerman. He fired his burner cannon. Only instead of firing it at Lan, he aimed it towards Maylu.
Maylu’s eyes widened as the attack headed towards her. At the last second, Lan jumped in front of her and use a barrier battle chip. “Run…Maylu…” he said. Maylu ran out of the way, but the fire kept coming at Lan. It was weakening his barrier. Finally, the attack stopped. It was a good thing too because the barrier flickered out at that exact moment.
Lan raised his head. “It’s time to finish this,” he said. “LaserBlast! HiCannon! MegaCannon! Battle chips in, download! Program advance!” He aimed his cannon at Burnerman. “ZetaCannon!”
However, just before Lan fired, something happened to him. His body started to waver and his head became cloudy. “Lan! What’s wrong?!” cried Megaman.
“My…head…” said Lan weakly. He started to fall over but Maylu ran over and steadied him.
“Lan! Don’t give up!” she said. “You’re one of my best friends in the whole world! You gotta fight!”
Burnerman laughed. “This is too easy,” he said. He rocketed towards Maylu and Lan, fires blazing.
Maylu was still trying to snap Lan out of it. “I’m sorry for yelling at you. Please! You’ve got to fight!” She wrapped her arms around him to support him. “I’ll hold you up, just please, WAKE UP!”
At the last possible moment, when Burnerman was just feet away from the two of them, Lan fired the cannon. It hit Burnerman dead on. “NOOOOOOO!” screamed Burnerman. “You were supposed to be sick! I was supposed to defeat you! NOOOOOOO!” he logged out.
The dimensional area went away and Lan de-crossfused. He immediately fell into unconsciousness. Maylu was still holding him. “Thanks Lan,” she whispered.
The next moment, Chaud ran up to them. “Maylu! What’s going on? What happened to Lan?”
“We were in the park when we were attacked by Burnerman. Lan crossfused to save us.”
“What was he doing outside? He’s supposed to be home sick.”
“He was trying to escape my cooking.”
Chaud wisely decided not to further press the subject. “Come on, let’s get him home.” Together the two of them got Lan home.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
A few days later, Lan had fully recovered. He was over at Maylu’s house ringing her doorbell. Maylu answered the door. “Hi Maylu!” said Lan.
“Hi Lan! What do you need?”
“About that day I was sick. You know, when Burnerman attacked us?”
“Yes…”
“Well I just wanted to say, thanks, for helping me out.”
“You’re welcome.”
The two of them stood there in silence for a while. Then Lan said, “Well I have to go to SciLab now. You know, NetSaver stuff.”
“I understand.”
Lan walked off and Maylu watched him go, smiling to herself.

Okay, how was that? I’m not a person who like romance stories very much so I’m not very good at writing them. Also, to the reviewer who wants me to contact them: I can’t do that because if I did, my parents would kill me. Please review and give suggestions for filler episodes (I've allready got the main plot idea down). They are appreciated a lot! _________________ “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

As a warning ahead of time, there won’t be a lot of action in this episode. This is more of an emotional episode, but it is an important part of the story because it goes more into Len's character.
Episode 5: Desperate Measures
At the old abandoned hotel where Len and her brother lived, Len was hard at work at her laptop. “How are things looking on your end, Pixel?” she asked.
“Pretty good. I just finished some of the calculations.”
“Already?”
“Well, it helps to have a built in calculator.”
Len laughed and so did Pixel. Then the two of them heard someone come in. It was Alan. Len quickly minimized what she was working on and brought up something else. Alan set down his backpack and looked over Len’s shoulder at what she was working on. “So, have you figured out that dark chip that I brought you yet?” he asked.
Len shook her head. “Nope, whoever made this thing was incredibly smart. I can barely understand it.”
“Barely understand? As in there is a little you do understand?”
“Well, yes.”
“What have you figured out so far?”
“I know the dark chip isn’t a completely original design. It was built off something else.”
“Really, what?”
“No clue.”
“How did you figure all this out so quickly? The scientists at SciLab are also working on this and they haven’t found out anything.”
“Other than the thing I mentioned before, I haven’t found out anything either. However, it really helps to have Pixel help me.”
Alan sighed. “I wish I had a NetNavi.”
Len smiled. “Maybe you will some day.”
Alan went off to the apartment’s bedroom to do his homework. As soon as he had left, Len opened up the window she had been working on. “So you think Alan will like his new NetNavi?” she asked Pixel.
“Of course! Nothing to worry about,” Pixel responded.
“I’m just worried that there will be some glitch in the Navi’s programming.”
“There wasn’t any glitch in my programming when you created me.”
“There were in the first few tries.”
“Nobody’s perfect,” Pixel pointed out. Len turned back towards her project. “So do you think we should make him a flying Navi like me?”
“Probably not, I don’t want to spend another two weeks programming the wings alone like I did you, but I think I have an idea that’s just as good.” Len did some quick typing and clicking. When she was done with the changes, Pixel looked at the Navi’s structure.
“Star Wars geek,” Pixel accused.
Len laughed. “You have to admit, it is an original idea.”
Just then Alan walked into the room. Len threw herself over the computer to cover the info on the NetNavi she was making him. “Knock on the door! Knock!” she yelled.
“Shesh, sorry. I just wanted to know where the headache medicine is. I’ve had this killer headache ever since we got trapped in the dimensional area. Like something’s growing in my brain,” Alan said.
“I think Doc Kerhaga gave us some a week ago. It’s in the cabinet.” Alan went over to the cabinet and got the medicine. Then he left the room.
Len smiled as she thought about Doc Kerhaga. He was one of the few residents of the hotel who had a good paying job. He was a doctor at the DenTech City hospital. He had enough money to buy barely enough medicine for the ninth floor where he and the Clark siblings lived along with a few others. He could probably afford a real space to live if he wanted to. He just liked living where he was.
Len continued to work on her laptop until nighttime when Alan walked in once again. This time Len had more of a warning and was able to minimize her work on the NetNavi in time. “I’m going to bed. It’s getting late. You should get to sleep too,” Alan informed her.
“As soon as I get to a good finishing point with this,” she said. “How’s your headache?”
“Terrible, the medicine didn’t help much. Good night. Don’t fall asleep at your computer again.” Alan left the room.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
The next morning, Len woke up at her computer. She had fallen asleep while working on the computer, again. She sleepily looked at the clock. The time said 7:40 AM. Len fell out of her chair in surprise. “PIXEL! Why didn’t you wake me up! I’m going to be late for school!”
“I tried to but no matter how much I yelled you stayed fast asleep. You were up till 1:00 working on that NetNavi.”
Len sighed, jacked Pixel out of the computer, and shut down what she was working on. “Is Alan up yet?”
“Now that you mention it, no. It is pretty unusual. Isn’t he usually a morning person?”
“He is. Something must be wrong. I’ll go wake him up.”
Len opened the door to the bedroom. Alan was sleeping peacefully, or at least it looked that way. In the pit of her stomach, Len had a very bad feeling. “Alan, wake up,” she said. When he didn’t she yelled “WAKE UP!”
He still didn’t wake up. Len started to get very worried. “Alan! Alan! Please wake up! This isn’t funny! Please wake up!” She shook him and he still didn’t wake up. Len started to panic. “Pixel! What do I do?! Alan won’t wake up! He’s sick or something!”
“Don’t panic,” Pixel said somewhat calmly even though she was extremely worried too. “Try calling the hospital.”
“Okay.” Len ran to the phone.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Later, at Lan’s school, everyone in the classroom was talking and chatting very loudly. Ms. Mari came in and everyone immediately shut up. “Class,” she said. “Alan Clark will not be joining us for a while for…reasons.” She smiled but you could tell something was wrong.
As Ms. Mari was starting her lesson, Lan was thinking to himself. I wonder why Alan isn’t in school today? I hope there’s nothing wrong, he thought. Little did Lan know how wrong he was.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Inside DenTech City’s Hospital, Len was talking to a doctor who just happened to be Doc Kerhaga. Alan was lying in the bed in the next room hooked up to a bunch of equipment. “So what’s wrong with him Doc?” Len asked. “Is he going to get better?”
Doc Kerhaga sighed and turned to Len. “Len,” he said. “I’m afraid I h
have some bad news. Your brother has a very rare type of brain cancer.”
“What?! But he’s only in fifth grade!” Len exclaimed.
“The particular type he has is most found among children under the ages of 14.”
“But how did he get it? Doesn’t cancer take a while to develop?”
“Usually yes, but that’s what’s so strange about this case. This tumor seemed to develop in an abnormally short time.”
“What could have caused it?”
“The disease is caused by a mutant gene, but that gene is normally triggered by something else. Scientists don’t know what yet but there are many theories. Like certain foods and inhaling certain substances. There’s even a theory that being exposed to an abnormal electrical field of energy will cause it.”
Len gazed at her still sleeping little brother. “Is there any cure?”
“We caught it so late. There’s nothing we can do.”
Tears started to well up in Len’s eyes but she didn’t cry. She turned to face Doc Kerhaga. “There’s got to be something you can do!”
“I’m afraid not.”
“He’s…he’s all I left of my family! Isn’t there something?”
“I’m sorry, but the only treatment that could possibly save him is currently experimental, and it cost too much to get in as a test subject.”
“What is the experimental treatment?”
“A new kind of radiation treatment, but it’s way too expensive. It costs ten-thousand dollars.”
“Oh.” Len looked at her brother in sadness. “I really need to go home.”
“I understand.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
At her house, Len was talking to Pixel. “I can’t believe it,” she said with tears in her eyes. “I’m going to loose my only brother. He’s going to die.” Pixel didn’t say anything. There was nothing she could say. “I’m just so sick of loosing people! First Mom and Dad and now Alan. Who’s next, Pixel? You?” Len cried.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere,” Pixel reassured Len.
“I hate this world. My brother is about to get taken away from me and there is nothing I can do to stop it.”
“There is that experimental treatment.”
“Yeah, but it costs ten-thousand dollars! There’s no way I can get that kind of money!” An idea popped into Len’s head. “Unless…”
Pixel realized what Len was thinking. “No Len you can’t! You’d get in huge trouble!”
“I have no choice. Desperate times call for desperate measures and this is a desperate time. Are you with me?”
“Len, you’d know I’d follow you to the ends of the Earth, but please reconsider!”
Len shook her head. “My mind is made up.”
Pixel sighed. “What’s the plan?”
“Here’s what we’ll do.” Len explained her plan to Pixel.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
At the East Corner Bank, three security Navis were guarding a digital vault when something swooped down and knocked out all three of them. The shadow stood up. It was Pixel. She put her hand on the forehead of one of the three navis. He body glowed and she took on his appearance.
“Wow Len! This holo-image feature of yours really works well,” Pixel said.
“Well it should, I spent hours developing it. Just remember, it will only give you the netnavi’s appearance and voice, not their abilities,” Len said.
“I remember. Let’s just get this over with. I always hate doing this.”
“Why? You’ve done it before.”
“Yeah, but not on such a grand scale. This is more than we’ve ever taken before!”
“We have no choice.”
“I know.” Pixel’s hand turned into a plug that she plunged into the security panel. “Which program are you going to use?”
“SK 2.5. I’m taking no chances. How long will it take?”
“Approximate time of completion, ten minutes.”
Fifteen minuets later, the program had finished figuring out the password. “I thought you said ten minuets?!” Len said angrily.
“The password was longer than I thought. Anyway, we have complete access to the bank’s vault now.”
“Take only what we need and beam it to my card.”
Pixel typed a bit on the panel. “Done. Is this our last one?”
“Nope, we’ve got one more. I’m logging you out before anyone finds you.” Len jacked Pixel out.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Inside SciLab, Mr. Famous was filling Chaud in on a string of bank robberies that had taken place in three different banks.
“So you want me to catch whoever did it?” asked Chaud.
“Correct,” said Mr. Famous. “And we think we know which bank they’ll hit next, West Hill. It’s the only one left.”
“Anything more you can tell me?”
“Yes, each of the three banks were robbed by one of their own security Navis so we suspect either mind control or some sort of image copier.”
“Can you tell me what was stolen?”
“Exactly 2,500 dollars from each bank.”
“That means it’s probably not a Darkloid. They wouldn't just go after money. I’ll get on it.”
“Good luck and be careful.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Much later at West Hill Bank, Pixel, disguised as a security navi, was hacking the banks central system. “Almost done,” she said to herself. “Got it! We’re in.”
“You know what to do,” said Len.
“Right, I’m, ‘transferring’ the money right now.” Pixel waited for the program to be finished. Soon it was all done.
“Stop right there!” said a voice behind her. Pixel quickly turned around. Protoman was standing in front of her.
“Houston, we have a problem,” Pixel said quietly to Len.
“What is it?” Len asked.
“Protoman.”
“Oh great, just what we need.”
“I know your not one of the security navis so who are you?” Protoman demanded to know. Instead of answering him, Pixel decided to run. “Always the hard way.” Protoman muttered to himself.
“AreaSteal, battle chip in! Download!” said Chaud.
Protoman disappeared and reappeared in front of Pixel, slashing her with his sword. Pixel fell to the ground clutching her stomach. Her holo-image flickered for a little while then disappeared, exposing her identity.
Protoman was astonished. “PIXEL!” he exclaimed.
“No way! It can’t be her!” shouted Chaud.
“Len! Get me out of here!” Len jacked Pixel out.
“I don’t believe it,” said Chaud as he jacked Protoman out. “I just don’t believe it. Why’d she do it?”
“I don’t know, but we’d better report this to headquarters,” said Protoman.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
At her home, Len was talking with Pixel.
“So what do I do now?” Len asked.
“I don’t know, Len. I don’t know.”
“I can’t pay for my brother’s treatment now that the NetPolice know where my money came from. So what do I do?”
“I guess you just let them arrest you.”
“You’re probably right, I really don’t have a choice.”
“Maybe they’ll let you keep the money if they know why you took it.”
“Yeah, and maybe pigs will fly.” Len sighed in defeat. “Pixel, will you do one favor for me?”
“Sure, anything.”
“I’m going to jack you into the net. I want you to not get caught.”
“Why?”
“It’s kind of hard to explain. I just want you to be safe, okay?”
“Okay.” Len jacked Pixel in and she took off. Len sat in her chair as a tear rolled down her cheek.
Someone banged on the door. “NetPolice! Open up!” Len sighed and went to face the music. She opened the door. Manuela, Chaud, and two NetPolice officers were standing there. “Are you Melenda Clark?” asked Manuela.
“Yes,” said Len. She didn’t even bother to say ‘call me Len.’
“You’re under arrest for embezzling thousands of dollars. Come with us.”
Len complied but before she did, she turned to Chaud and said in English so he wouldn’t understand, “I hate you, Chaud. You ruined my life.” Then, she was led off by the NetPolice.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
I know that this wasn’t much of a cliffhanger but it was necessary to end the episode here. I also know that this one as shorter than the last two and that the battle sequence was really short, but it was supposed to be that way. It wasn’t as much a battle sequence as it was a way for Protoman to find out about Pixel. Please review this and constructive criticism is much appreciated. _________________ “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

Here we are, the conclusion to Desperate Measures. First off I want to warn you that like the last episode, this one wont have much action in it either. I know it sucks, but it’s a necessary episode. I promise that the episode after this will have plenty of action in it.
Seeing as how I have had only four reviews so far, I'm guessing that most of you think this story sucks. Even though you guys are probably right, I'm going to keep writing because it is one of the only things that give me happiness. I know I can't compare with the Gods of Rockman Fanfiction (Neko, Sol, etc.), but for God's sake give me a break, I'm very new at all this stuff.
Episode 6: Putting the Pieces Back
It had been three days since Len had been arrested. The NetPolice had questioned Len many times about why she had taken the money and about the whereabouts of her NetNavi, Pixel. All Len would say is that she did what she had to and that Pixel was safe, nothing more.
“I can’t believe Len did that!” said Lan. He, Chaud, and Maylu were at SciLab discussing what had happened.
“I know,” said Chaud. “I can’t believe she did it either.”
“I don’t get it. Why would she steal ten thousand dollars? What did she want?” Maylu said.
“You did get the money back, didn’t you?” asked Lan.
“Yes, we founded it in her computer along with a NetNavi she was creating,” Chaud responded.
“She was creating a NetNavi! What for?!” exclaimed Lan.
“Maybe she was making it for her brother.” Maylu suggested.
“Speaking of which, where is Alan?” inquired Chaud.
“I don’t know,” said Maylu. “We haven’t seen him in school for four days.”
“What!” said Chaud. He thought for a bit and then started to walk off.
“Hey! Where are you going?” asked Lan.
“I just thought of something,” Chaud said as he walked off. Lan and Maylu just stared at him.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Chaud was in the elevator of the hotel Len lived in waiting for it to get to the ninth floor. Protoman spoke to him. “So what’s the plan?” he asked.
“I’m going to speak to some of the people who live on Len’s floor and see if I can find out anything about what happened to Alan.”
“Sounds good.”
Chaud arrived at Doc Kerhaga’s room and knocked on the door. Doc Kerhaga opened it smiling. “Hello?” he said.
“Hello, I was wondering—”
“Hold on! First tell me who you are.”
“My name’s Chaud Blaze.”
“Oh! I remember you! Aren’t you that boy who never talked to Len after she moved?”
“Uh, yeah, that was me. You know Len?”
“Yes, I do. Now what did you need?”
“Someone I know said that Len’s brother, Alan, hasn’t been in school. Do you know here he is?”
Doc Kerhaga sighed. His smile faded. “I really don’t have the right to tell you that. Len wouldn’t like it.”
“Please Mr.…”
“Kerhaga, but everyone calls me Doc Kerhaga.”
“Please Doc Kerhaga. Len’s in a lot of trouble and I think that Alan may be the cause.”
“She hacked into a bank and stole a lot of money, didn’t she?”
Chaud was amazed. “How did you know?”
“I’ll tell you what, meet me outside DenTech City’s hospital in an hour. I’ll explain everything there.” Chaud agreed and left the building.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
One hour later at the hospital, Chaud was waiting for Doc Kerhaga. Finally he showed up. “Follow me,” he said. Chaud complied out of curiosity. They walked through the halls of the hospital before coming to a room marked 108. The two of them went in. Chaud gasped when he saw what was inside. Alan was lying on the bed hooked up to a bunch of machinery.
“Len brought him in four days ago,” said Doc Kerhaga. “He has a very rare type of brain cancer and he’s probably going to die.”
Chaud was stunned. “How…how did he get it?”
“I don’t know. It developed faster than any brain cancer I’ve seen before.”
“Is there any treatment that can save him?”
“The only one that could is an experimental treatment, but it costs…”
“…ten-thousand dollars,” Chaud finished. Then he looked at Doc Kerhaga and asked, “Why didn’t she tell anyone?”
“That’s just how she is.” The two of them were silent for a while.
“I need to leave,” said Chaud.
“See what you can do to help her.”
“I will.” Chaud left the hospital.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Len was lying down on the bed in her cell thinking to herself. I don’t believe it, she thought. Everything used to be great. It wasn’t perfect, but I could handle it. Now nothing’s under control. I’ve lost everything. My mom’s gone, my dad’s gone, and soon my brother will be gone too. A tear ran down her face. At least Pixel’s okay, but I won’t be able to see her again for a long time. Len stared at the ceiling.
“Someone’s here to see you,” said the guard. Len looked up. Chaud was standing there. She glared at him.
“What do you want?” Len said harshly.
“Are you okay? The guard says you’ve barely eaten anything since you got here,” Chaud said.
“I just haven’t felt like eating much. Leave me alone.”
“I know about your brother.”
Len stopped glaring and just stared. “What?”
“I know about his terminal illness and the treatment that could have saved him. Is that why you stole the money?”
Len closed her eyes in an effort not to cry. It didn’t work too well. “After my parents died, Alan and I promised that nothing would ever separate us. When he came down with brain cancer, I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t just let him die! So I stole ten-thousand dollars to pay for the experimental treatment.”
Chaud was silent. Then he said, “I’m sorry Len. If there’s anything I can do—”
“Go away Chaud. You’ve done enough.” Chaud hung his head and left.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Chaud was walking down the street. “You did the right thing, Chaud,” said Protoman. “She stole thousands of dollars.”
“I know, but if that’s true then why do I feel so terrible?”
“I don’t know.”
“I just wish there was something I could do.”
Protoman thought for a moment. “Maybe there is something you can do.” Chaud realized what Protoman was talking about.
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
The next day, the guard came to Len and told her that someone was on the phone for her. Len nodded and followed him to the phone. She picked it up and said, “Hello.”
“Hello Len.”
“Doc Kerhaga? What is it?”
“It’s your brother! He’s going to be okay!”
“WHAT?! HOW?! WHY?!”
“He’s going to get the experimental radiation treatment!”
“That’s great! But where did the money come from?”
“That’s what’s so strange. It was an anonymous donation.”
Tears started to fall down Len’s cheeks again; only this time they were tears of joy. “Thanks Doc Kerhaga, you don’t know how happy you made me.” The guard tapped her on the shoulder. “Listen, I gotta go. See ya.” She hung up the phone.
“Some folks here to see you,” the guard said. Len turned around to see Manuela and Mr. Famous standing there.
“Who are you two?” said Len.
“My name is Famous and this is Manuela. We have a deal for you,” said Mr. Famous.
“Okay Mr. Famous. What is it?” asked Len suspiciously.
“It’s just Famous! Where did you get the Mr. part from?” Len smirked. “On second thought, never mind. I don’t want to know.”
Manuela continued, “We know that before you stole the money, you were working on decoding the dark chip, correct?”
“Yes, I was.”
“Did you make any progress at all?”
“Well I did discover something but…”
“That’s more than we at SciLab have discovered,” said Mr. Famous.
“You said you had a deal for me.”
“The NetPolice will agree to give you a lighter sentence,”
“If…”
“…You work with the scientists at SciLab on figuring out the dark chip.”
Len just stared. “But…I’m only in seventh grade.”
“True,” said Manuela. “But you did manage to hack into a high security bank and steal thousands of dollars.”
“Why are you doing this for me?”
“Chaud told us about your brother.”
“Oh.” Len was silent for a moment. Then she said, “Can Pixel help me?”
“If you can find her.”
Len smiled. “You’ve got yourselves a deal.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
At SciLab, Len was sitting down at a computer with some of the scientists including Dr. Hikari and Mr. Famous. Lan and Chaud were also there.
“The first thing I need to do is find Pixel,” Len said. She started typing.
“How are you going to do that?” asked Lan.
“I created a program that can tell her where I am no matter where she is. I call it Whistle.”
Pixel’s face popped up on the computer screen. “You rang m’lady?”
“Very funny Pixel.”
“I’m glad to see you’re all right. What happened?”
“I’ll explain later. Right now I need you help.” Len outlined the situation to her NetNavi.
“Let me guess. You want me to bring up what we’ve found out so far on that dark chip,”
“You got it. My laptop is hooked up to computer.”
“Thanks. I’ll be back in a sec!” Pixel disappeared. A few minuets later she reappeared on the screen. “Got it! Here’s the file, Len.”
Len opened the file. “Okay, here’s all I found out about the dark chip,” she said to the scientists. “The dark chip isn’t an original design. It was based off something else, but I haven’t figured out what yet.”
“It was based off something else? How can you tell?” asked Dr. Hikari.
“Well, much like there are different styles of writing, there are different styles of programming too. When I went over the data from the dark chip, I noticed that part of it was programmed in a different style than the other part. So I figured that it must have been modified from something else.” Everyone in the room stared at Len in disbelief. She looked around. “What?” she asked.
“That’s, well, brilliant,” said Mr. Famous.
“Thanks, but it would be even more brilliant if I knew what it was based off of in the first place.”
Everyone in the room was silent for a while. Then an idea popped into Lan’s head. “Hey,” he said. “What about the SynchroChip?”
“The SynchroChip?” said Len.
“Yeah, I mean they do look alike, at least a little bit. And a Darkloid did steal a bunch of SynchroChips from SciLab right before the dark chips started appearing.”
“That doesn’t mean there’s a connection,” Dr. Hikari said.
“I don’t know. Lan may be on to something,” Len pointed out. “It’s worth a shot. Can I borrow your SynchroChip Lan?”
“Sure, but why?” Lan inquired as he handed her his SynchroChip.
“You’ll see.” Len inserted the SynchroChip into a slot in the computer. “Pixel could you scan this for me?”
“Sure thing!” A minute passed before Pixel announced that she was done. She brought up the data for everyone to see.
“Okay, now see if you can strip the SynchroChip data from the dark chip data,” said Len. Pixel complied and after a few more minutes some more data popped up on the screen.
“It worked Len! The data of the SynchroChip was scrambled in with the dark chip’s data, but it still worked!”
“Wow, Lan,” said Chaud. “Looks like you were right.”
“Thanks,” Lan said happily.
“For once,” Len said.
Lan’s happiness quickly turned to anger. “HEY!”
Len changed the subject. “This whole situation is like the plot of a B-rated movie.”
“That made no sense at all,” Pixel said.
“Thank you.”
IOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOIOI
Later that day, Len was taking a break from figuring out the dark chip by getting something to drink. She saw Lan and Chaud across the hall and walked over to them.
“Hey Chaud, can I talk to you for a minute?” She stared at Lan. “Alone?”
“Uh, sure,” said Chaud even though he wasn’t sure at all. The two of them turned the corner and walked a bit so that Lan couldn’t hear them. “What did you need?”
Len looked at the ground. “Chaud, I just wanted to say thank you. For what you did for me.”
“Um, don’t mention it. I figured you deserved a second chance after what you did.”
“Not that, I mean how you helped my brother.”
“I don’t know what you’re—”
“Yes you do know what I’m talking about. I’m talking about my brother’s treatment. You made that anonymous donation, didn’t you? You were the only one who knew who had that kind of money.”
“I…uh…”
“You don’t need to say anything. I just wanted to let you know that I’m really thankful for it, and I won’t tell anyone.”
Chaud was silent for a moment. “Thanks,” he said. He started to walk away.
“I do have one more question for you.” Chaud turned around. “Why didn’t you contact me once I moved?”
Chaud sighed. “When you moved was about the same time I got Protoman. When I met him I sort of forgot about everything else and focused on training with him.”
“Oh, I understand.” Len left Chaud in the hallway alone.

I know that this was kind of a boring episode, but it was necessary to the plot and to define Len’s character. I also know that the dark chip wasn't based on the SyncroChip but at the time I wrote this I didn't know that. I'm still going to make it work out to make sense.
Even though Megaman didn’t have a role in this episode or the last one, he’ll be much more important in the next episode.
And I'm begging you people. PLEASE REVIEW!!!!

I know I can't compare with the Gods of Rockman Fanfiction (aka), but for God's sake give me a break, I'm very new at all this stuff.
