The first RPG I ever played was Super Mario RPG which I rented back in 1996. I wasn't very familiar with the RPG genre back then but Super Mario RPG introduced me to the wonderful world of fine storytelling, random battles, turn-based battle systems, and other things that make up a role-playing game.

I think it was....Pokemon Blue? Either that or Dragon Warrior I. Ah, Dragon Warrior I. Never have I had my ass kicked as many times as I did in that game. XD

Super Mario Rpg, completely by accident too. A friend brought it over one day and I was hooked. Then came FF7.

Well if you count Legend of Zelda as a RPG, then yea, it was my first...

If not, it was Final Fantasy II for snes.

Hmm... What's that called again? It's for the SNES. You create robots that will fight for you.
Other than that, Final Fantasy. It's the one where you can switch jobs anytime you want (I forgot what number that installment is).

I made a mistake about Pokemon Red being my first video game, I had Super Mario for NES (at the time I thought beating world one was good, heck I was four at the time)

PKMN Red is still my first RPG though.

prolly Pokemon Blue, or Chrono Trigger. CT is the best RPG of ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

and, i don't see how Zelda is an RPG. if it is, then pretty much all the games out there are RPGs. don't get me wrong, i love Zelda. i even pre-ordered Twilight Princess.

The first Role Playing Game that I have ever played? That would have to be an old Sega Game Gear game known as Shining Force II: The Sword of Hajya. I did have some RPG experience in the form of books, but this was my first test of seeing it in a video game. Granted, by today's standards it does look out of place, but back then it was surely something. Even after having owned the game for over 10 years, I only ever beat it once all the way through.
