Okey, that clears up the clones bit...
I didn't know what they were, so I just went with clones since that what their designs seemed to go along for the most part.

That's not the only things I rated them on, it's just the main parts I liked.
tagged for people who don't care about how I'd rated it.
[spoil:1a12f25e54]Lets say it started off with 5/10 points.

To start off, it gets at least 1 point for animation, music and new characters. 2 for animation/music each if I'm stretching things and going for the 5/10 total.

So that's 8 to 10 points now, but then we get to the negative.
The plot alone loses around three points for me, since it's my least favorite bit.
I disliked more battles than I liked, so I'd dock another point for that.
Finally, I don't like most of the FF7 cast as I've rather repetatively stated and I didn't like how many of the characters were handled, so that's one more point lost, bringing it to 3, 4 or 5[/spoil:1a12f25e54]

And yeah, I didn't like the scene in question, but it has nothing to do with originality, I just don't really like that kind of scene.

I finally got to see the whole movie in class today (We were ahead of all the other sections, so our instructor let us throw a pizza party).

[spoil:f9e1cf4374]I wasn't expecting Sephiroth to change back into Kadaj when the battle ended nor was I expecting Elena and Tseng to show up (I thought they were killed). I wasn't too fond of the fact that Cait Sith was riding Red XIII as opposed to a giant stuffed moogle.[/spoil:f9e1cf4374]

Viewtiful Starman: Well, that's your voice. So, yeah. If you don't like the movie, don't watch it anymore. ^_^;

I kinda did a different rating system...like so:

Story: 7/10-Thanks to the trailers, this movie was a bit predictable. But, it does have it's strong points and most of it lies in it's theme (Redemption). Probably the most underrated part of the movie. *has seen some people rate the story 3-6* Though, if Nomura hadn't "hang" around with fans at the ShinRa website. He wouldn't of said "NO MORE DELAYS!" They could added more to the story. But, as of now, it's open-ended. Good enough, right?

Screenplay (description of a scene): 9/10-A lot of symbolism here. Nojima was careful to put every little detail on every scene. Especially, [spoil:641ddbba32]the end of the Bahamut SIN battle[/spoil:641ddbba32]. I didn't really hear any complaints here. Smile

Script (what they say or act): 8/10-Some of what the characters say was a bit corny ([spoil:641ddbba32]Go back to my memories!-Cloud[/spoil:641ddbba32]). But, the rest of it was okay. (Especially Reno... Laughing )

Voice Acticing: 10/10-It's perfect. Now, give us the dub version!

Visual Effects (AKA to gamers: Graphics): 10/10-Unarguably, one of the movie's strongest points. The characters look realistic...though the action is not. Laughing

Music: 10/10-It's Nobuo Uematsu. What do you expect? Razz

Action: 8/10-Although the battles surpass Lord of the Rings, the camera angles kinda pissed me off. :/ All the rest is good amd okay. Smile

Overall: 62/70 (88.5%) B+

So...yeah. Yes, I know the screenplay and script is on the same copy. Razz I just rate them seperately.

I don't intend to, unless I want to see it dubbed or something.

Even considering what I said though, I wouldn't mind a sequel, to see if they can improve on things.

Voice Acting's another part I forgot... I didn't particularily like it or hate it, nothing really stood out to me. (not that it's a bad thing, just doesn't affect my opinion of it really Razz)

There will be no movie sequal. :/ But, there is a game about Vincent. It's called: Dirge of Cerberus, which takes place a year after Advent Children. It should come out this winter or so. Unless, they delay it (which would be a good thing). Man, I should of joined the ShinRa forums, so I can tell Nomura that he shouldn't be listening to fans. :/ Oh, well...he sure made the producers of the film festivals and the people who watched it happy. Smile

I heared the standing ovation roared in the building. XD Woke up, Nomura, too! Laughing (was 3AM at the time)

Ah well, Dirge of Cerberus does look pretty good at least... one of the main FF things I'm looking forwards too right now.

heh, Dirge looks okay. But, then again...I'm not too fond of shooters. ^_^; I think I'll give it a try...(if I have enough money heh heh). I'm not expecting too much from it (kinda like how I used to feel about AC). So...yeah.

Hmmm... [spoil:32675768a9]No, I don't really remember him shattering. I remember the end when his body sorta evaporated/exploded into the lifestream like the others do in the movie... I took it to mean that he just died in a way someone like him would. I don't think I ever saw anyone say there were pieces of him left over or anything. I just figured they were advanced clones from Hojo. *shrugs*[/spoil:32675768a9]

I haven't read 'On The Way to a Smile' but may I ask what it is about?

I think those who are complaining about the story were expecting something grandiose or deep. I think that they did pretty good and the deep hidden meanings behind a lot of the imagery brings out the work they did on the story. There is a lot more going on than meets the eye. There are those that claim they could write a better story, but would anyone watch it? Would it please more of the fans? I think that is where the argument drops. Sephiroth's appearance, in my opinion, wasn't fan service. It was expected. If you're going to call it that, then the whole movie and the fact that they even made one based on this game, is fan service.

'On the Way To a Smile' takes place on the one-year gap between FFVII and Advent Children. Basically it's just a story about what happened during that one year, told from Denzel's perspective. Also info on the building of Edge. Wink

You know what the movie's animation reminds me of a bit?

Sin City...

I mean many things are so dull and gray and all the important people are darkened and have color XD XD XD

I love this movie, but can someone explain how Denzel fits into everything? (n00b question, I feel stupid)

Don't feeel stupid. There are people who didn't understand the story (mostly the ones who didn't like the movie >_>). You have to read "On the Way to A Smile".

Here's the link: On the Way to a Smile

Have fun.

Mental Note, Johnny is that guy was in the train with you and various other places in FF7.

As for the ribbon thing, It could be for Aeris since Barret, Tifa and Cloud wear it.

[spoil:c3153b36a8]Rufus is alive because he's freaking Batman, that's how XD He can survive even explosions (by jumping into a conveniently open nearby safe XD... anyone see that episode of The New Adventures of Batman?)[/spoil:c3153b36a8]

The story felt really rushed, they could've done it in a mini-series form, and made it so that even people who hadn't played the game could've gotten into it. The graphics are nice and all, and as a person who loved the game I loved the movie, but if I hadn't played the game and wasn't already attached and knew the charactes, it wouldn't have been watchable... (I'd keep annoyingly ask the person next to me why they're so afraid of this Sephiroth guy and why those three silver haired dudes keeps calling Cloud "Aniki")... well, they did market it towards people who've played it, so it's all good.

Watched the included bonus OAV :3 Wow... so pretty! But so little Cloud action XD It's just a teaser, really, but I would've loved to see more of what they went through while at Hojo's facility.

All in all, good in my book. As overall movie... maybe not (but gorgeous graphics O_O) The fact that Cloud's Japanese voice actor is X from X7 and X8 and Kadaj is the X from X5 and X6 rocked :3 I keep closing my eyes when Kadaj is talking and hear X from X5! EEEEE

After seeing this movie, I found some really disturbing details...

1.) Cloud is using a cheat device: "[spoil:bd10506aa6]Always have Aeris in party[/spoil:bd10506aa6]" and "[spoil:bd10506aa6]Finish the game without the need for Materia[/spoil:bd10506aa6]"...
2.) [spoil:bd10506aa6]Marlene does not know how to use Materia...[/spoil:bd10506aa6]
3.) The water Kadaaj drank is the same water where Aeris's corpse was... And we do know that corpses become bloated underwater after periods of time...

-------------------------
Kadaaj: *blah blah blah* [spoil:bd10506aa6]we were all chosen by mother[/spoil:bd10506aa6] *blah blah blah*
Yazu: Should we tell him?
Rodz: Nah, I don't think he's stupid enough to...

[spoil:bd10506aa6]Kadaaj drinks water[/spoil:bd10506aa6]

Yazu: Too late...
-------------------------
Kadaaj: 'Wow, I'm cooler than I thought!!! [spoil:bd10506aa6]The water's turning black[/spoil:bd10506aa6]!!!'
Yazu: 'So he too, huh?'
Rodz: 'Yup, none of us have changed clothes ever since... Think of all the monsters we fought...'

Kadaaj returns to the two. Then something pink and red surfaces from the water...

Yazu: "Nii-san..."
Rodz: "Isn't that???"

Kadaaj looks back, then takes a look at his shoes...
-------------------------
The 'other' theme song of Advent Children:

[spoil:bd10506aa6]SEPTIC WATER!!! SEPTIC WATER!!!
YUM! YUM! YUM!!! YUM! YUM! YUM!!!
GLUG! GLUG! GLUG! GLUG! GLUG! GLUG!!!
GLUG! GLUG! GLUG! GLUG! GLUG! GLUG!!!
BURP! BURP! BURP!!!
BURP! BURP! BURP!!![/spoil:bd10506aa6]
-------------------------

4.) Aeris sank in the lake, but Cloud and the others were able to stand waist high... There was also no indication of land upon where Cloud could stand as Aeris sank (original FF7)...

-------------------------
Kadaaj: *blah blah blah* [spoil:bd10506aa6]we were all chosen by mother[/spoil:bd10506aa6] *blah blah blah*
Yazu: Should we tell him?
Rodz: Nah, I don't think he's stupid enough to fall for that...
Kadaaj: "[spoil:bd10506aa6]Now, follow my[/spoil:bd10506aa6]*SPLASH*"

Kadaaj then surfaces from the water, looking angrily at the two

Kadaaj: Why didn't you tell me???
Rodz: We thought you already knew...
-------------------------

5.) There is such a thing as a fast elevator - just ask Tifa...
6.) Red XIII is already dead - [spoil:bd10506aa6]Caith Sith's just manipulating him[/spoil:bd10506aa6] Laughing
7.) Yuffie has perfected the art of balance... Years of being a Materia thief sure pays off... [spoil:bd10506aa6]Even when in a rocking ship[/spoil:bd10506aa6]...
8.) That is no 'lake'... how else could Cloud be cured of [spoil:bd10506aa6]Geostigma[/spoil:bd10506aa6], and in Midgard?

-------------------------
Based from the movie, we therefore conclude that Septic Cetra water is the cure to [spoil:bd10506aa6]Geostigma[/spoil:bd10506aa6]. It is also only in this type of water that the new phone advertised in the movie can still work...
-------------------------

9.) Cloud's new weapon is called the 'Souba'

-------------------------
Yazu and Rodz are chasing Cloud at the outskirts of Midgard. Cloud opens up his bike, only to find instant Yakisoba noodles instead of swords. He then looks back, and sees a white flag attatched to his motorbike

Cloud: "Damn!!! I knew I shouldn't have taken out the ramen bike today..."
-------------------------
Now for sale: Instant Yakisoba. Just add Septic Cetra water. Hot or cold, it will be instantly cooked the moment it comes into contact with the water...
-------------------------

10.) [spoil:bd10506aa6]Vincent was blamed as a cellphone theif...[/spoil:bd10506aa6]
11.) Aeris and [spoil:bd10506aa6]Kadaaj[/spoil:bd10506aa6] are already a part of the Lifestrream...

-------------------------
Breath air, exhale, and say "Mmmm... Fresh Aer...is..."
-------------------------
Breath air, exhale, and say "Ahhh... I love the smell of [spoil:bd10506aa6]Kadaaj[/spoil:bd10506aa6] in the morning..."
-------------------------
Mako is green for a reason...
-------------------------

Okay, now I'm ready to be killed...

Marlene is too young to use Materia.

Cloud's new sword is called 'First Tsurugi'.

And just a point of interest, there IS actually a fast elevator. In Healin Lodge, Nomura said that Reno, Rude, and Rufus got in the building by an elevator (not shown in movie, so don't bother looking). Apparently Cloud did not realize that...XD

XD

I love these subtitles to the movie!!

http://www.livejournal.com/users/beeblebabe/338568.html

Use it and learn the hilarity of the movie!

The subtitles show how Rufus stayed alive...

Quote:
Cloud: You totally died!
Rufus: No, you see, I'm fine--
Cloud: There were explosions!
Rufus: I ducked.
Cloud: That's RETARDED.
Rufus: ...well played, Strife.

Hm, so Cloud's name should be Croudo? And Denzel's name is Denzerou?

Yeah ok.
