Typing effects

This prolly draws away from the actual conversation, but if we were able to recieve typing effects? Sort of like custom ranks, you'd have to have been here a certain amount of time and have a certain amount of posts, at which point you could ask an admin to chage it for you? Kind of a dumb idea (not kind of) but I thought it might be kinda cool.

No, typing effects, such as having it preset so that your writing would be black, or maybe having a purple name/rank.

I personally don't want the forum to be every color of the rainbow when I read a post. <_<;; Some people remember to put a color tag at the start of every post, and it seems to work for them. Besides, presetting it'd get old really, really fast.

Agreed.

Don't get me wrong, the idea sounds pretty good. But eventually it may reach a point where it's overdone and this turns into the Amazing Technicolor Forum. If you use it sparingly is fine, but too many colors makes a forum look overly glitzy/blinding and therefore rather annoying. Bold or italic also works just as well for many.

That doesn't mean it can't be used for dramatic effect tho. Just don't go crazy. XD

Well, it would only be a choice of like two colors ^^; I know what you mean by the amzing technicolor forums, but it's not like everyone would be rushing to get a massacre of colors. 'sides, it'd be after a large amount of posts, so most people wouldn't use them.

That would only encourage spam. So many people able to get this 'effect' wouldn't even be deserving of it. Second of all, people -should- remember how to color tag before posting.

Third, it's been proven more than once than any color other than white, orange or yellow is BLINDING in this forum's layout. SO we're already requesting people that color tag their posts to NOT do it, unless they need to make particular emphasis on something. I see nothing constructive coming from color effects pre-set for people's comodity other than to rub in people's faces ones 'rank', and I find that quite insulting sometimes for other people. It's like saying "I have a flashy color, therefor I'm better than you." Doesn't mean is what I think you would do, but let's face it, there's people that if given any little bit of visual 'status' within the forum, are going to act high and mighty towards those that don't hold the same 'status'.

Last, but no least, don't see why we shoul pre-script the process of color tagging for people. I mean it doesn't take much effort to edit your text if you forgot to 'color tag it', to want it pre-made for people just so they won't forget just promotes being lazy.

This is a forum, and the main importance of a forum is within its vital content, not in its appearance and extra ad-ons that aren't really contributing anything to its main function other than to make Nobi work extra.
