Stargazer-ShadexBurner One-shot, General, Shounen-Ai

Shademan always liked looking at the stars. Even if the stars in the sky were artificial, they brought a sense of calm to his being that the night couldn't do alone. He couldn't help it; he could just spend hours laying back, watching the star lit sky...

"So...this is where you've been going every night." a voice chuckled behind him. The vampire navi just glanced back to see his lover, Burnerman, behind him. Smirking, he just turned his attention back to the sky, waiting for Burnerman's reaction at being ignored. However, the flame navi simply walked beside him and sat down. "I've been wondering what you've been up to."

Shademan sighed. "It's not like it's any of your business to know what I'm doing every part of the day." he replied while continuing to look upwards. Burnerman didn't retort. Instead, he drew closer to the vampire navi. They sat like that for quite a while, just staring at the stars.

"Do you wonder why I come here?" Shademan finally asked softly, running his hands over Burnerman's face.

The flame navi yawned. "Yes. Why...?"

"Because...when I was first activated, the stars were the first thing I saw." he said, closing his eyes in reminiscience. "Since then, I've always made enough time for me to just look at the stars each night. They comfort me..."

Burnerman smiled at his lover. "Well, I must admit...the sky is beautiful at this time of night." he murmured, rubbing at his eyes. "You can just stare into it forever..."

Shademan chuckled. "Yes, you can...I've been tempted to, as well." he said while finally looking at Burnerman. "All my life, I 've always been wondering...how far does that star lit sky go?" At this point, Burnerman snuggled up to the vampire navi, intently taking everything he was saying in.

"At this time of night, the stars are so etheral and mysterious...I've found myself entranced on more than one occasion." he mused while his lover laid softly against his chest. "To lay out here forever, just watching the stars and not having to deal with the harsh reality of the world...I would like that. Maybe someday..."

Glancing down at Burnerman, he saw that the flame navi had fallen asleep against his chest while he was musing. He chuckled. "It seems that you were intent on just keeping me company, not falling asleep out here." Summoning up one of his wings, he brought it over the sleeping navi to keep him warm.

"I should take him back to base...after all, we have a mission in the morning, and I wouldn't want him to be tired..." Burnerman then chose that time to squirm against his chest, a content smile on his face.

Shademan sadly smiled. "But...what is one night?" he chuckled to himself as he laid back on the ground, bringing his lover closer as he watched the stars again. "Just for this one night...I will be free from my troubles until tomorrow. Just gazing at an endless sea of stars..." he trailed off as he drifted off to sleep, bringing his remaining hand to rest on Burnerman's cheek.

For that one night, Shademan rested peacefully.

Even though you said this came out so somber, I still think it came out really lovely. To show that even Shademan could use some time of peace and where he could enjoy 'existing' without worrying about the troubles of 'life'. I think many people can easily identify with his feelings.
