Yeah, the Believe It lines got on my nerves alot. And what's even worse is they didn't say the name of Kakashi's manga. C'mon, what's so bad about Make-Out Paradise? Oh well, I still like the dub, cause they're doing a good job. Just one thing that made me reallu unhappy...They changed the "Thousand Years of Death" to "Secret Hand Jutsu." C'mon, it was funnier with the original name. _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

Er. . . no, they didn't change "1000 years of death" to "secret hand jutsu." What Kakashi says is "Hidden Village secret hand jutsu: 'One Thousand Years of Death'!" _________________

Make out paradise? I thought it was Come Come Paradise, or something. Yeah, Kakashi whoops the arse, but I missed the episode which kinda makes me mad. _________________

Indeed it was come come paradise and they explained in the manga that it wasn't really for children so they couldn't explain much other then it was part of a series called come come violence, that maybe why they did it. What did they change it to anyway? |

It was called Come Come Paradise in the anime, and in the manga it was called Make Out Paradise. Geez, looks like no one reads the manga... _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

Are you reading the Japanese manga? I'm not entirely sure, but I think they only call it Make Out Paradise in the English manga...However, I could be wrong. _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

"Believe it" is their translation of "dattebayo," which Japanese Naruto says after basically EVERY line. It doesn't really have a translation, but "believe it" is pretty close - it's basically emphatically emphasizing his point, kinda like saying "y'know?" after a statement, but stronger. Yes it's annoying, but "dattebayo" is probably just as annoying to those who can understand Japanese. Honestly, I'm surprised they decided to translate it at all, so I give them kudos for that.
Still happy with the dub, or at least content. Kakashi and Sasuke are excellent (Sasuke is PERFECT), Sakura's growing on me, and I'm still adjusting to Naruto, but at least he sounds like an annoying, hyperactive 12-year old.
Though it's interesting that sometimes they use "destroy" and other times "kill"...usually it's one or the other. At least they're not afraid to use "kill," so really, whatever. _________________ And if you go, furious angels will bring you back to me...

on an added note, Naruto's dattebayo is similar to yugioh gx(japanese)'s Chrono's Na no ne.
if you watch magiranger mandora always ends his sentences with a word(can't remember it) or smoky likes to end his sentences with
nyao(come on he is a cat)
oh yeaH forgot one more thing. in konjiki no gAsh bell there are certaIn times whem gash bell adds nAno da in the end of his sentences.. if you try to save your game in konjiki no gAsh bell makAi no bookmark gash bell will AlwaYs saYs save no nano da. _________________

Go to Cartoon Network's Toonami clip section. If you watch the clip for next week's episode, you hear Kakashi reference the book as "Make Out Paradise".
Come Come Paradise is an entirely different book in the same series by the same author, I'm relatively sure. The same thing with Make Out Tactics. |

Ok the way you describe that to me, makes sense, it's understandable, so it's a gripe no more, just the translation trying to stick with it's counterpart, thanks for clearing that up, i guess i'll bear with Naruto saying "Believe it"....for now at least, heh _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

Unknown Neo wrote: | And you notice here in the US we don't have that kind of speech thing. Funny huh? | Like, what do you mean we don't have those kinds of speach things? Several sub-cultures in the U.S. tack on words that have nothing to do with the sentence itself, y'know? But it's different from what you'd see in anime, yo. Take Rockman.EXE, gutsu. The characters use personalised nonsense, demasu. I'm sure some of them have a real meaning, puku. But sometimes, I'm not sure if there is a translation, chu.
It seems that there are many more different ways that people add stuff to their sentences in Japan, but it does get to the point that we ignore the words that people stick into their sentences, so we don't notice it. English could be much more annoying if we all noticed these little things. Like Totally! _________________ Church: Are you following any of this?
