Sonic Riders: this time with airboards

Didn't see a topic for one of the new Sonic games, so here it is.

In case no one has heard, there's a new Sonic game on the rise called Sonic Riders. According to GameStop, it's got a release for Febuary next year.

Basically it looks like a Sonic racing game, only on airboards and there's three new bird characters (why birds?!).

I'm a big Sonic fan so I plan to get it and the idea of them racing on airboards does sound intriguing

Wow, that does sound pretty fun. Hopefully it will fare better than the last Sonic racing game. The screenshots make me want to get this game, but maybe I'll try it out as a rental first. Either way, looks like a great game so far.

Yeah I heard about this awhile ago. I kind of liked sonic R (the last racing game) it was just a little short. This may be pretty good. (Is one of those birds a girl?)

I heard about this Sonic title through IGN, and I was able to see some screenshots of the title in action. So far, things are looking good and I know that more information will be revealed within the next few months. This racing title should be an improvement over the previous ones that have appeared over the years, yet the concept of Sonic and company snowboarding makes me think of Nintendo's 1080 series.

Hmm... I don't really like the new characters and the game doesn't look that great IMO, but I liked all the other Sonic racing games so I may as well give it a shot.

They should've brought Bean back in this game, he's a bird and it would've been fun to play as him again.

Speaking of Bean, have you seen that new green bird guy? He's way too similiar to Bean. Even Nintendo Power mistakenly said he was Bean. Sorry Sega, but that guy needs to go if he's going to resemble an existing character too much.

The game dosen't look that great. I never did like skateboarding/snowboarding/racing games, but I'll give it a chance. Afterall, I really enjoyed Sonic R. Still dissapointed that they aren't you using Bark.

Zetto: I thought that was only Sonic's voice acter they replaced? :O

This game looks pretty good, maybe I'll buy it next year. Maybe.

The voice isn't too much of a problem to me, but the gameplay looks pretty fitting on the Sonic Theme, Super high speed. (Reminds me of the intro of City Escape back at SA2. That was fun.) Hopefully they'll have characters such as the Chaotixs, Shadow, and such. This game looks pretty amazing. But maybe I'll buy Shadow first.

Leaving that aside, I think Sega is getting as desperate as Nintendo. (in the next year: Sonic Baseball!) XD

Of course because sega and nintendo are the same, they make games for the fans not just for the money.

Nintendo and Sega do go back a long ways before Sony and Microsoft had come into the picture and the two developers were fierce rivals during the days of the early 1990's. Well....in the eyes of the fans that is. For Nintendo fans, being able to play Sonic games on a Nintendo console was like a dream come true to them, and that the fanbase was used to the hedgehog. Playstation 2 and X-Box fans don't see it the same way, although Sonic does have a fanbase with those two systems.

It does indeed seem to be true the regular voice cast will be replaced by the Sonic X cast entirely starting with the Shadow the Hedgehog game. From what I heard, the usual Sonic voice actor wasn't even informed he was fired until he called them up to ask when he was needed to do the voice casting for Shadow the Hedgehog.

I think it's stupid, the idea of replacing a good cast with a much worse one. Then again, I feel SEGA has been declining over the years. For one, they seem to forget old characters like Bean, Bark, and Mighty and just go on making NEW characters. Then this.

Though as a big Sonic fan, it'll be hard for me not to get the new games coming out like this one, even though I detest a lot of things going on right now.

The green character is a bird? for a minute he looked like Sonics brother Maniac in my point of view. oh well have to wait and see any ways.

Sega has been declining ever since they became a third party developer Artisticseggi as they have often struggled to make ends meet. While the Sonic titles have done well on Nintendo systems, the company is still having its own share of problems. With the voice acting thing, I have a feeling that Sammy, the ones that merged with Sega might be involved with that decision, but that's just my opinion there. I am willing to give the Sonic X cast a chance if they are indeed going to be providing the voices in the video games.

Featherdust, the man who was the voice of Dr. Eggman, Deem Bristow passed away around the beginning of the year, although I did not know about this until a month ago when I happened to discover that bit of information on my own.

I also like the Sonic X voice cast as some of the voices are either on par, or are better than the game voices. There are a few voices that I do have to question as they don't really sound right. The main problem has to do with how 4Kids have been portrayed when it comes to dubbing animes. In regards to the merger with Sammy, they may have some influence with future Sonic titles, but that is something that we will have to get used to.

The bird characters (I am assuming that they are similar to the Flicky character) seem like a good inclusion as birds have been a part of the Sonic series since the beginning, although characters that are other animals would have been nice as well.
