I like the Zero Series, not as much as the other ones mind you, but I still like it. I just don't like how hard they can be at times.

I LOVE the Zero series. Of all the series besides Dash, Zero has the most cohesive physical storyline of all. Sure, we still need to figure out just what the heck happened a century ago, but hey, I love puzzles.

I think I love the character development the most. Over the course of three games, Zero went from silent fighter to assertive leader. Harpuia, who seems to have undergone the most development of all, went from hot-headed, blindly loyal young boy to level-headed, thoughtful leader.

Admittedly, the game play and difficulty took some time to get used to, but I didn't have the trouble some of you talk about. The only one that actually gave me trouble was the first game, and after that 2 and 3 were a breeze. I'm getting better at getting the rankings, but it'll be a while before I can match those of you who can get perfect scores. ^^

But yeah, awesome game. May it continue beyond 4 and not lose the story!

Yeah, sure, I like the series, almost as much as I love EXE. =P

Plotwise, I thought I had everything figured out until the 3rd game came out. XD

Character wise, I'm a Harpuia, Phantom, and Cyber Elf X fangirl. =D The character I *dislike* the most is Neige. A few people know why. >_> *cough*SPIES!*cough*

Gamewise, yes, it is difficult. I've yet to beat the first game (LoL, Copy X is hard for me XP), I've actually beaten the 2nd game, and I rarely played the 3rd game.

I think, though, that I actually spend more time looking at the art style rather than playing the games. The art style is what really attracted me to the series. =P[/url]

I love the art work and the characters of the series. The games are a bit too hard for me though otherwise it would probably tie with exe for my favorite series.

When I heard Foxtar was male (and yet I still have trouble believing it), my jaw dropped to the floor. Sexy hourglass-ish shape, female-like pose in the official art, girly hair and a headband, and a very female voice... all that, and it's a shemale. I mean... damn. *Shivers.*

Other than that, I love the hack 'n slash gameplay that even playing as Zero in the MMX series can't quite provide. Can't beat a boss with strategy? Too far away for the saber to be of good use? Equip the Triple Rod and go all-out kamikaze (it works especially well for Orichi-Arm Metalcore). Is the enemy slow-moving or stationary? Use the saber and mash on its button.

My favorite level was Duel in the Desert, where all those Pantheons were dropping in. I'd just charge up the buster, run in, mow them down with one shot, then slash like mad until I'd reach a breif period of respite to charge my buster again and repeat the process. The balls-to-the-wall carnage was awesome, especially in Hard Mode, and I find myself playing it over and over (on the Japanese ROM and not my English cartridge, just to see blood spill) even now.

Plus, it was a real challenge, and not a frustrating POS, for once. It was clean, simple, and easy when necessary, and the parts that were hard enough to be repeated usually weren't annoying to repeat. Detailed environments (for a GBA game, at least), excellent artwork, and high-quality (albeit 2D) graphics are always a plus as well (though it took me a while to get over the shock of Zero's new look).

MMZ2 was fun, and ripping off the sheilds from those Hammer Pantheons with the Chain Rod, then sucking them dry with the Energy Chain EX skill was priceless. It had a refreshing amount of strategy involved, and the chain rod offered some novel new dodging tricks, but I found myself missing MMZ1's total mindless carnage later on in the game (though the first level was good for that). Beyond that, it maintained the same charm of the MMZ1, the forms (particularly the Active Form) and EX skills were a beautiful addition to the gameplay, and it was still hard without frustration. At that point, Zero's new look was what I identified him with.

MMZ3... Well, it's not quite as good as the first two, but that's not to say it was bad. It was harder, and while it still managed to be fun for the most part, there were a few frustrating parts (like Chilldre Inarabitta's stage - damn those spikes everywhere). The Cyberworld made it a bit cheap if you're not aiming for a high rank. And then there's Foxtar... *Shivers.*

The storyline was kinda confusing and really trippy towards the end, with a seriously dark tone. That's not a bad thing. In fact, with the way it was done, I'd say it was a good thing. The whole feeling of terror, despair, and lack of time that the music and art give really fits well with the game. It leaves you with a feeling of awe and wonder about where the game will go from there.

I know it's a roundabout way of saying it, but MMZ is a really kickass series. Considering that X was originally only there to pave the way for Zero, I must say Inafune must've really hated X, which is unfortunate, because X is my favorite character in the Classic/X/Zero line. I was actually hoping X would have a chance to steal the spotlight for once. It might still happen, if Capcom decides to pull another MMX6, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Same here buddy.

I also find it sad that X can't keep the spotlight in his own freaking series.

All Vile's Numbers are male then? I mean if Kyuubit is male...*shudder*

Z1 for me was pure nostalgia, seeing the second stage, where you go after Aztec Falcon, made me shiver, the background reminded me of the first X game...gotta lov that highway, at first, I played the JAP rom, so I had NO FREAKING CLUE what the hell was going on... I still kicked butt though! anyways, when I got to Neo Arcadia, and I got to kick X's butt...
I can't quite discribe that feeling...but it was kinda weird...at the time it seemed really wrong, why? well,

'X, built by dr.Light to save the world, has become evil, and Zero, originally built to destroy, by dr.wily, is going to stop him...'

Doesn't that seem a little wrong to any of you? anyways, I love the multi weapon play, I was stunned by the Art, and I loved all the new designs.
I never get tired of Zero1 and I made a save pre-neo arcadia, on S rank, just to hear Seraph X's Psychotic laugh. and ofcourse, Pantheons are the bomb.

For Zero 2...
I didn't quite knew what to expect from this...the badguy was a wierd pink dude...Capcom of Amerika said "Zero falls prey to a trap set by the newly self-appointed commander of Neo Arcadia..." when I played the Rom, I HAD NO IDEA that Elpis was a guy...when later the english version came out, it prove how STUPID Capcom of Amerika is... Elpis wasn't only the complete controverse from what they said, Elpis had no intent of 'trapping' Zero...he just wanted to kick Neo arcadia's butt, but alas, Harpuia's foot got in the way ^^

I missed out on some thing in Z2 though, Forms...basicly SUCK, woohoo, you got the rising form, you can now slash up...YAY!!...my god...and NO ULTIMATE MODE!! wich also sucked, it did have EX skills, wich made it feel really rockmanish again...I love gaining bosstechs!
I really loved the Elpis and Dark Elf music themes.

For Zero 3...
Well this was something else...the bosses had a sort of human form, wich looked, varying from character, either cool, or horribly horribly ugly *cough* le Cactank... but there he was... OMEGA!!!! finally we get to see the character whoms tag has been under the boss gauges for 2 games...makes me think that all that happend in parts 1 and 2, was just meant for this event...The Recoil rod was AMAZING, not only can you bash a pantheon into another pantheon, you can jump higher and smash objects, we had lots of fun ^^ I so made love to the final version of Omega, with Reppuugeki, he went down in six ^^ or nine... anyways, he used skills I remember, like the Buster/Saber Combo wich Zero used in X3, Rakuhouha, Rekkoha (barrier)(X6), Mikazukizan(X5), Ryuuenjin(X4)... Zero3 also allowed more power for Zero, in this game, his potential was the greatest... I am really curious about what they plan on doing for Zero 4....

the cyber elf designs overall, aren't that shocking, kinda dull...

Foxtar? When I found out about him being male, my jaw hit the floor, then the rest of my body followed as I laughed my butt off. I found that absolutely hilarious. The drama tracks on Telos kind of support that, strangely enough. Listen to Eight Gentle Judges (which apparently happens BEFORE Doc Weil got ahold of them) and the voice struck me as genderless, not quite male, not quite female either. Then listen to Will 1: Vile Numbers and THERE you get the creepy "guy talking like a girl" idea. It's a kind of before and after thing.

Just a note of interest:

[spoil:cfadf57242]If I'm hearing the Telos drama tracks right, it seems that the eight characters that made up the Weil Numbers were originally the Neo Arcadian Judicial Council (hence Hachishinkan, or "eight judges," as we all know). If this is true, then Dr. Weil did not build them, but instead pulled a Dr. Wily from ages past and upgraded and reprogrammed what was already available. That at least would explain why Weil's plans seemed to come to fruition so damn fast. [/spoil:cfadf57242]

OT: Was there a Telos discussion here before (stupid question probably)? And if so, does anyone mind if I revive it?

Even more OT: Before? You mean in the old forums? I started something about it, and it dissapeared. I was asking if anyone knew what some of the stories were about (mainly the Elpizo ones...)

I also love the Zero series. Is one of my top favorites besides X and EXE and Legends. I like the art, the action, the 2D scrolling and the thing that makes Zero unique. Currently working on Megaman Axl which takes place between X and Zero. Smile

i only have the first one and it's FRIGGEN HARD!!!!!!!!!!!! if the zero games were alive, i'd say their parents bred like bunnies. seriously, a little after 2 came out, i heard about 3! and now 4...
other than difficulty, i find nothing to be wrong with the series. i think the majority of people that don't like it don't like it becuse of difficulty. they need an easy mode for 1. too hard for me. i'm better at rpgs

Ah, finally, I don't have to make a topic to express my extreme dislike for the little red fan-trap and his moronic adventures. I have never enjoyed this series in particular, nor will I ever. My personal belief is that Zero should have stayed dead in any of the few times he died in the X series, and never come back. I just plain out can't stand the guy. Now, it's my personal finding that with such an extreme dislike of a character, one cannot enjoy a game one wished never existed in the first place.

First off, the gameplay. Sure, it's sidescrolling, it's detailed, a decent composure of play-worthy features. However, it's boring. Too standard. The first game took me less than two hours on my first playthrough, the second wasn't much harder, and the third I pretty much waltzed through. Now, forgive the "mention of taboo", but I never even bought Z2 or Z3, but I have beaten both. I'm not wasting money.

As stated, I dislike Zero, and the fact that they even put Rockman in the title annoys me to some extent. Zero himself is just a fantoy, a horrible one, no less. I can't really explain why I hate him other than his miraculous revivals, annoying fanbase and, for lack of a better term, putrid color scheme, but the Zero series annoys me, and that's all I can say.

It's not that I can't play it for beans, I've made it through Z1-3 with anywhere between a B and S rank, on most occasions. The games just don't interest me. I find the gameplay redundant. None of the bosses require any effort of any kind, most of them can barely even hit you if you know how to dodge.

Yay for a redundant post that basically keeps saying "Zero is a lameass, and capcom should die for giving him his own series" :O

Uh the point of the game I think is to be fast, there is a time limit in whcih you must finish the level in order to receive full points

I try each one to see if they've gotten any better/worth playing. :P That, and boredom drives people to do things they wouldn't normally do when properly entertained.
