Rockman.EXE
"Spoil The Child"
by Cory "Core" Belote
and Plantman.exe (Plantman)

Cosmoman is awoken early from his sleep by the unusual sounds coming from his lover and wife, the golden navi sitting up in bed to stare at Swallowman, the bird navi fretting a bit as he placed a twig in place to a growing pile. The dark eyed navi arches an eyebrow as he watches Swallowman head back towards the open window, his wings flapping almost urgantly.

"What are you doing?" Cosmoman asks, disturbed and curious at the same time.

The blue navi pauses as he stands on the windowsill, "I don't know... I just have this urge to... well... nest."

The larger darkloid watches as his companion flies out of the window, leaving him alone in the room to look at the 'nest' that is growing in one corner. Cosmoman crawls out of the bed he shares with Swallowman, finding his lover to be acting very strangely as heads out of the room, the palace of Shademan seeming more inviting the longer he stays there. A sudden loud squawking causes him to turn back around, seeing Swallowman blushing as he looks at the corner.

"I- I..." The bird stammers, looking at his mate.

Cosmoman looks over at the nest once more, his eyes widening in shock as he sees an oval shape resting in the pile of sticks and twigs the bird had gathered. "YOU LAID AN EGG!"

Swallowman nods in amazement, "I did... I didn't know I could do that."

"Good thing we are married or your father would kill me." The tall navi says as he looks at the egg, trying to figure out how it could have happened.

"Why would I be killing you?" Shademan's voice cuts in as he enters the room, the two younger darkloids turning to face him. "I heard my son squawk, and it seemed to be filled with distress. Now what is going on in here?"

The bird navi picks the egg up from the nest he had built and holds it in his arms, the egg the 16 centimeters long and 12 in diameter. "Look dad, I laid an egg."

"What?" The vampiric navi states as he looks at the object, "How- No, better yet I do not want to know."

Swallowman pets the egg gently as he keeps it warm with his body heat, "So does this mean that I'm a mommy like mom now?"

Shademan thinks of his wife, the flame navi out running his errans for the day and knowing that Burnerman would about explode at finding out that he was a grandmother now. The elder darkloid blinks as it dawns on him that he was now a grandfather, looking down at the egg in his sons arms, feeling an odd tingling inside of him of joy and fear.

"I shall see to it that the childs room is prepared, for now I guess your nest will have to do." Shademan says as he turns and floats out of the room, closing the door to leave the two new parents alone with their egg. He stands there as his emotionless mask melts, shock setting fully. "I'm a... grandfather....!"

Burnerman returned home to the discovery that he was a grandmother, instantly going about the palace gathering Swollowman's old baby toys and the stroller. The bird navi smiled as he put his egg in the little stroller, covering it with a blanket to keep it warm as he pushed it about the place. Shademan hugs his wife as he looks at the young couple, going out for a picnic with their eggling.

"This is very strange." Burnerman states, looking up at his lover. "I mean, he grew up so fast and was married a few months ago, and now a baby."

"Yes, it is strange." Shademan agrees, looking down at his wife and smiling. "But that doesn't mean we can't have fun spoiling our grandchild now can we? After all we aren't the ones that have to take care of him night and day."

The flame navi chuckles at the thought, "You always look on the bright side don't you dear."

***

It didn't take long for the egg to hatch, a small bird like navi with emerging from the shell with an appearance like Swallowman's, black and gold replacing the blue and red of his parents armor. The child's wings black with gold feathers at the end, his chest colored the same gold along with his covered feet. His eyes similar to his father but as crimson as his grandfathers, with the sharpness of the elder darkloids as well. The young bird navi growing steadily till he reach the size of a 14 year old human child, his growth seeming to stop and leave him in a child like state.

The bird navi looks up at his grandfather as his parents go out, leaving the child in the care of his grandparents. "Grandfather, why am I so small? It doesn't make any sense that I'd still be this big does it?"

Shademan sighs as he picks the young navi up, "Larkman, you already know why."

"Not really, I don't remember much from when I was little." The black and gold navi replies as he goes over and sits on Shademan's lap on the throne.

The vampire looks down at his grandson, his head resting on his left hand. "That is understandable, you where asleep for a long time." He says, stroking the young navi's raven black hair as he continues. "You were infected by a virus shortly after birth and it progressed into you, slowing your growth rate and putting you in a deep sleep for a while. Since child navi's age quickly, you grew while you were under the virus' effects. But now has stunted your growth, you will still develop mentally however."

Larkman lowers his head abit, "So that is why I'm small... even for a seven year old."

"There is an advantage to you being this way." Shademan states as he smiles, "It allows your grandmother and I to spoil you longer."

"Who want's cookies?" Burnerman asks, entering the room with a large tray full of the digital morsels.

The bird navi chirps as he takes one of the treats and munches on it while sitting on his grandfathers lap, crumbs falling on the clean suit of the vampire and the throne. The two darkloids smiling as they watch the young navi happily devour the cookies.

"Mom and dad never let me have cookies before dinner." Larkman states, his voice making a slight chirp.

Burnerman chuckles, "Well, long as you don't tell I won't."

The bird navi smiles as he continues to munch on the cookies, "Thank you grandmom."

The fire navi smiles as he hears the name, "You're welcome dear."

Ermmm...wow.

I seriously did not expect a continuation of this genre of work...but it seems that you did a great job with it anyhow. Progressive tone helps a lot, but at times when you have ShadeMan speaking of the past, it seems to clash a touch.

Of course, the whole scene where SwallowMan lays an egg is well...priceless. Something utterly unexpected, and yet something that proves to be something of substance later on.

Great job, the both of you. Smile

Yes, Planty threatened to beat me if I didn't write more. She also fed me information on the navi's since I have yet to play the game that Swallowman and Cosmoman are in, or seen the anime yet due to my connection speed only now increasing. Mainly she puts the seed in my head and then nudges it to grow or else. xD

I'll work on fixing Shademan's dialog, and get some more chapters up as well. Getting a bit rough working on things since the weather is dragging me down. Nothing like seemingly endless rain to make one sleepy.

Wee, updateness. :D I think allowance to double post in an update is allowed if there is sufficiant time between the last post and the second one, especially if new information is added.

***

Larkman sits on his fathers lap as his mother has an arguement with his grandfather over some kind of action that is going to happen in the comming days. The small bird navi only picking up a few words and phrases as the two darkloids argued each others point, neither one giving in due to their pride. Finally Swallowman storms into the room, angry and puffing his chest a bit as he goes over and sits down in his chair. Larkman flaps his wings lightly, gliding over to his mother and sitting on his lap, giving him a hug and nuzzling his face into the red chest.

"I take it that your father will not allow you to take part in his plans to take over the worlds networks for the darkloids?" Cosoman asks, looking at his wife and partner.

"I don't see how me staying behind can help things. I am just as good a fighter as anyone else that is heading out." The older bird navi says, still upset at not being allowed to go.

The gold darkloid stands up and walks over to the pair of winged navi's, his hand coming to rest on his sons head. "Your father, Lord Shademan, is to proud to admit that fact. Besides, why not have someone that is strong stay behind to look after things as important as this."

Larkman blinks as he looks up at his father, "Are you going to go fight daddy and leave mommy here?"

"It is my duty to your grandfather that I must do so." Cosmoman replies, stroking his son's short hair. "I feel that this is the real reason why your mother is so oppose to staying behind. He is afraid for my safety and wants to be there to help me. Isn't that true my swallow."

The blue navi nods as he hugs the smaller navi on his lap, "I am, and I am worried about Larkman also."

Cosmoman smiles as he kisses his wife and son, "Knowing that you all are safe here will help me fight my best. You don't have to worry, nothing will happen to me and I'll return back to you both. But right now I think that it is time for someone to get some sleep."

"Aww... but I don't want to." Larkman says with a yawn, "I'm not sleepy."

Swallowman chuckles as he craddles his son, "Sure you aren't."

The elder bird navi starts singing the same song that he sang at his wedding, Shouri no Uta, to his young son softly. Larkman curls up more into his mothers lap and chest as he is put to sleep by the lullaby, sleeping soundly as he is carried off to his bed to sleep the rest of the night. Swallowman covers the young navi with a blanket before leaning back against Cosmoman's chest, the parents watching their son sleep. The blue navi seeing more clearly why he should stay as the main force of the darkloids is unleashed on the world, part of him wanting to go to help and another part not wanting to see the coming war happen for his sons sake.

***

Swallowman flies around the outside of hte palace with his son, the smaller bird navi flying faster then his mother as he learns aerial manuvers from the older navi. The blue navi smiles as he sees Larkman do a loop in the air and change directions in a blink of an eye, the smaller navi enjoying himself greatly as he out manuvers his mother.

"This is fun!' The black and gold bird navi says, doing a barrel roll and coming up along side his mother. "How come you wouldn't let me outside before to do this without a leash?"

Swallowman smiles as he looks at his son, "Well your grandparents did it to me to insure that I didn't fly off and get myself into trouble."

Larkman blinks, "They don't do it to me when they let me out."

"They don't do they?" The blue navi says, arching an eyebrow. "I guess I'll have to have a talk with them later about that then, but first we have to see how strong your flight muscles are."

"But mom, haven't I worked out enough?" The young navi pouts, "I want to go play with my toys and the new game that gandpa Shademan got me called 'Maxium Warrior 3'."

"A game?" Swallowman thinks to himself, "They never gave me a video game when growing up."

He looks his son over and sighs, "Okay, you can go play your game. But no flying or running through the halls."

Larkman smiles as he dives back towards the palace, "I won't mom, thank you! I love you!"

Swallowman blushes at the three words said by his son, "I love you to Larkman."

The young navi plants himself in an over stuffed chair in one of the palaces rooms, one mainly used for planning engagements on the surface net world, a large screen displaying his video game. Burnerman walking in with a trayfull of cookies for his grandson, smiling in his new cooking apron.

"How are you doing in the game?" The fire navi asks, looking at the screen.

"Not bad, I just have to beat this bad guy that kind of looks like grandpa." Larkman replies, taking a cookie up and munching on it happily. "Mom says that you and grandpa never let him do this stuff when he was little."

Burnerman gulps, "You did?"

"He did." Swallowman interupts, looking at his mother as the fire navi turns around to face him. "How come you never let me out to fly without my leash on, but you let my son do so? Aren't you conserned that he will fly off and get himself hurt."

Burnerman thinks for a moment, "Nope. Because he listens to what he is told and always stays with in the palace confines instead of flying off."

The blue navi grumbles a bit, "I did that also!"

"I remember something about a 'monster' that you got in a fight with one night after sneeking out." His mother counters.

"Tha-that doesn't count!" Swallowman stammers, remembering the incident clearly. "That aside, why are you letting him play video games and wouldn't allow me?"

"Because we didn't have the program to decode them till now." Burnerman says, holding up the tray of cookies to his son. "Now stop picking a fight and being stubborn and have a cookie."

Swallowman sighs in defeat as he takes a cookie from the tray and sits down in a chair next to his son, watching the young navi play the game. "You are spoiling him rotten."

Burnerman smiles and chimes, "Maybe."

Another amusing fic. "Hey look dad, I laid an egg!"
Baby Larkman is adorable and I find it amusing that Burnerman is spoiling him. I wonder though, who will Larkman get married to...

Might be some dark foreboding, but I won't let it spoil the spoiling of the Larkman! Not sure what the future might hold for the little birdy. ^n.n^

***

Larkman smiles as he rides on one of the many amusement park rides, the rollercoaster giving him the most thrills and reminding him of flying. Many other darkloids and independent navi's from the Undernet were also taking part in the parks activities, none of then engaging each other in pointless battles as they enjoy the freedoms that the take over of the surface networks allowed. Shademan smiles as he watches his grandson comeing off of the ride and running up to him, hugging him tightly around the waist. The vampiric lord hugs the small bird navi back as he looks at him with a smile.

"Go enjoy yourself Larkman, this is a day that we have long waited for." Shademan states, watching his grandson take off to play another one of the many games. "With the networks of the world under our control we can do whatever we want without those bothersome humans and their puppets."

"Lord Shademan, a group of navi's are making their way towards one of our districts." A purple and black darkloid states as he comes up to the vampire, "Another group is already engaging Cosmoman's forces at the planet weather station."

"This is an annoyance. I shall go to reinforce Cosmoman's group while you inform Blizzardman and Cloudman to ambush the other one." Shademan orders calmly, "Larkman, come here."

The small black and gold navi runs up to his grandfather looking up at him, still happy to be out having fun. "It's not time to go yet is it grandpa?"

"Not yet, but I want you to stay close to your grandmother and mother when they get here." Shademan moves an arm and a darkloid takes off to fetch the two mentioned navi's, "Till then I want you to play and have as much fun as you can, this is your amusement park till they get here. I have to go take care of some troublesome pests, but I should be home in time for your late night snack."

Larkman smiles at the news and takes off to have his fun as his grandfather leaves with a group of other darkloids, the small bird navi allowing other darkloids to use the games and rides without having to purchase a ticket or pass to do so. Finding a crown he dubs himself the king of the amusement park darkloids, and chirps as he gives out free prizes to random darkloids. His mother and grandmother arriving in time to see some of the darkloids bowing to Larkman in mock tribute as he gives out data for virus pets.

"You know, I think he is one of the only ones that your father would allow to do that." Burnerman chuckles as he hears a group of navi's thanking Larkman with the title 'King'.

Swallowman couldn't help but smile as he watches his son, "Excuse me your 'highness', but what about us?"

Larkman smiles widely as he pounces his mother in a hug, the navi vanishing in a blur of motion and knocking Swallowman to the ground as he nuzzles his face into his chest. "You and grandmom get hugs!"

Burnerman looks at Swallowman, seeing his son was in a daze from the sudden impact. "I think might want to get home before you end up hugging us a bit to hard there little one."

"Do we have to go?" Larkman asks, looking up at the fire navi. "I wanted to show you and mom the rollercoaster, its lots of fun, almost like flying without using wings and stuff."

"Okay, but then we have to get home." Burnerman submits, smiling as he helps Swallowman up to his feet, his grandson taking off towards the ride.

Ohohohoo, crack. CRACK.
(aka guilty pleasure of the week. Mwa!)
I read your last one, and found it... cute, if you forget WHO exactly is pairing with WHO. ^_^ Oh well. The last one ended rather abruptly, says I, and this one only speeds up the tempo more. It would've been funny to see Swallowman or Larkman as a baby, and the misadventures of the new parents. Larkman in particular grows up too quick. He gets all of half a page about being an egg and being born.
In fact...

There DESPERATELY needs to be a "were", or if you're going with this present tense thing, "are" somewhere in each of those sentences. This whole 'fic feels kinda rushed and not proof-read...
...but I still love it. Mwahaha. Yes. The randomness makes me smile.
(Uwaaaugh, you and your present tense. It takes getting used to.)

I'm not that good at proof reading things, since my brain will automaticly place missing words in something without me noticing. Thank you for pointing that out to me.

Where the first one ends, this one pretty much begins, and I thought I had put in there why there isn't much to Larkman's early childhood. :P

Whee, updateness! xD I have edited the copy that I have on my computer, which I will be putting up on the board later on to fix some things that have been pointed out to me that needed fixing. In the meantime I will be working on the next chapter since I have this one done. Enjoy!

***

Larkman watches from the palace doorway as his grandfather and father return home, the two elder navi's staggering a bit with large marks and battle scars on their digital bodies. The young bird navi looks them over curiously as they enter the palace, his crimson eyes puzzled as to why they were so beaten up.

"Grandpa, why are you and dad more black and blue then usual?" Larkman asks, poking one of the bruises on the vampires arm.

Shademan grumbles as he closes his eyes, "Rockman and his friends were in the group of infiltrators into the networks."

The vampire walks on deeper into the palace as Larkman takes his fathers hand and stops the tall navi, looking up into his eyes. "What is a Rockman?"

Cosmoman looks at his son a bit shocked, "Well... he is a navi like us only he is operated by a human. He is a puppet that deletes darkloids."

"But if he is a navi, how come he isn't on our side?" The child navi asks, following his father deeper into the palace. "Shouldn't he be fighting to be free like the rest of us?"

"You would think that he would, but the humans have him so confused and brainwashed that he does not see beyond destroying us all." The ringed navi states, looking down at his son. "The fool doesn't realizes that once he destorys us all he will no longer have a purpose and his human will disguard him."

Cosmoman kneels down a bit, holding Larkman by his shoulders. "You're grandfather and I are going to be busy for a while, so I want you to go with your mother and grandmother. You just don't worry about anything and just have fun."

Larkman nods as he watches his father stand up and walk down the hallway, going into a room with his grandfather and locking themselves away inside. The young bird navi walks through the halls of the palace, his hands clasped behind his back much like he had seen his grandfather done, his mind thinking things over.

"If a darkloid and a net navi are the same thing, then why are we fighting each other?" The black and gold navi asks himself mentally, "Both dad and grandpa have a hatred for these 'humans', but I wonder what they are? I've never seen one, but grandpa talks about them a lot. Maybe mom and grandmom knows what these human things are."

Larkman looks out of the window of the palace, seeing the artificial moonlight casting shadows on the landscape. "What is a human?"

"A human is a creature that lives outside of the net that looks much like us." Burnerman's voice states, causing the young bird to jump and squawk as he turns to face his grandmother.

The fire navi stands there in his black body suit, his hair pulled back in a loose pony tail. "They like to control everything and tell net navi's what to do, often intrusting them to do things that they themselves don't want to do out of being lazy. They designed much of the networks that we live in just so that we can better serve them and their needs, then disguard navi's when they deam them no longer worth their time or attention, or thinking they out lived their usefullness deleting them without feeling."

Larkman blinks as he looks up at his grandmother, "Are they really that crule?"

"Yes, they have sent forces time and again to try and delete your grandfather and I because we wanted to liberate others from their control and turn the tables on them." Burnerman replies, folding his arms over his chest. "That is why we live down here, in the depths of the worlds networks. It is the only place where humans dare not send their mindless armies of navi's because they fear us, but at the same time we couldn't go to the surface because they set traps to delete us."

He kneels down and ruffles his grandson's hair a bit, "Think of it like your video game. The humans are the humans are the evil emperor, and the navi's are his evil henchmen. While darkloids are like the towns people that are mistreated by them, and your grandfather is one of the leaders of the towns people that is fighting for freedom from the evil emperor."

The young bird navi nods in understanding, his grandmother patting him on the head and instructing him to go to bed and allow the adult navi's to work thing out as to how to defeat the human forces. Larkman does as he is told, retreating to his bedroom in the stone palace, pulling out the chair at his desk and seating himself as the thinks things over.

"Its like a game..." The young navi repeats, his hand calling up a display of a chess game he had been playing by himself for the past few months. His red eyes looking over the black pieces of his side facing off against the side of white colored pieces, both sides with almost equal losses, the king on both sides in parrel.

Larkman stands up slowly as he goes over to his window, opening the large frames wide as he looks out. "If it is like a game, then there is another side to it and I think I need more answers then I can get from just staying here."

The young navi spreads his wings wide, the gold feathers at the end reflecting the light of the digital moon. "Lets see what answers are out there."

I really love Larkman's role in this chapter. It's funny because it represents a bit of what real life is like. With usually the 'innocent ones' find both sides of the coin to weight out the pros and the cons on each side. I'm really loving it XD

Kids do tend to be much more perceptive than adults. I simply cannot wait for the next installment.

Yes, children seen things for what they really are, unlike many adults that are blinded by their own selfish needs. Well, here is another chapter!

***

Larkman flies around the surface network, his eyes looking at the destruction caused by the battles between the two sides, whole sections and pathways left in ruin from powerful attacks. The amusement park looking like it had been hit by an earthquake, the tall ferris wheel leaning on its side like some giant has set a hubcap against a wall. Small programs rushed around at the command of a large group of navi's, repairing and rebuilding sections. The young bird navi hovers in place as he looks around him, amazed at the reality of war spread out before him. He lowers himself to the ground slowly, walking along the cracked pathway of the cyber city, examining things and looking for anyone that he could talk to.

He smiles as he sees a program working on part of a building wall, "Hello, can you tell me what you think of darkloids?"

"Rebuild. Rebuild." The program replies as it continues its work, seemingly to ignore the question.

Larkman sighs as the program scurries away, "Great... first one I meet is a repetative NPC. There has to be someone that I can talk to that has some intelligance."

"Civilian navi's are not permitted in this area." A stern voice announces from behind him, causing the bird navi to squawk again. "You are to logout now."

"Why does everyone always sneek up on me!" Larkman shouts before looking up at the taller navi, seeing his camoflauged armor and orange hair. "Oh... er- sorry about that sir, you startled me."

The navi looks him over casually, "You are to logout of his network. Civilian navi's are not permitted to access at this time."

"I know, but I'm just looking for information for my..." The young navi thinks quickly, remembering a term used by his grandfather, "... my operator. She has a report to write for school on darkloids, and I thought that I could help her by going online and finding someone that knows about them."

"Reguardless of your reasons, the networks are still not to be accessed by civilians till after control of them has been secured, and they are repaired." The tall navi states, his eyepiece reflecting the young navi in it.

"Please?" Larkman pleads, looking up at the navi.

"Searchman, allow him to ask his questions and then leave." Another voice states, seeming to come from the air. "We're wasteing time by arguing."

"Acknowledged, you may ask your questions." The navi says, looking at Larkman.

The small bird navi chirps as he smiles, "My operator needs to know how others feel about darkloids."

Searchman arches a brow as he looks at the navi, answering all of the young navi's questions before moving on about his tasks, giving Larkman a warning not to stray out of the area and to logout of the network if there is danger. The young navi continues walking about the city, asking questions to all of the navi's that he came across, giving them the same story of helping his operator with a paper for school. As the day dragged on he found himself sitting on the edge of one of the high rises, looking out over the tattered city and kicking his feet as they dangle in the open air.

"So basically everyone here seems to think of the darkloids just like the darkloids think of them." Larkman states to himself, voicing this thoughts outloud. "And the humans seem to be like navi's also, just bigger and bit more controlling... almost like grandpa."

He brings his knees up and hugs them as he looks at the skyline, "I don't see why we have to fight if we are the same and want the same things. Its almost like someone wants us to fight and destroy everything that we work for... but why?"

Larkman thinks for a moment before letting out a squawk of realization, "OH NO! Its almost time for my bath, if I'm not home before mom goes to fetch me, I'm going to be in trouble!"

The young navi jumps off of the building, tucking his wings in close to his body as he dives down towards the ground, spreading his wings finally and pulling up gracefully. The extra speed causing his young body to go almost at sonic speeds as he dials up a link back to his home, vanishing in a tunnel of light that ends at the palace of the darkloids. He flies quickly into his bedroom, landing with a slight skid and falling onto his bed with a thud.

"Larkman, what did I tell you about jumping on your bed?" His mothers voice asks, as the blue navi opens the door to his room, standing there with his violet eyes on the boy.

Larkman blushes as he sits up, "Sorry mom. I won't do it again."

Swallowman sighs, smiling at his son. "Alright, just becareful, I don't want you breaking a wing or something. Now hurry up and get ready for your bath dear."

"Yes mom." The younger bird navi chirps happily.

"How is your game coming along?" His mother asks, looking at the digital chess board on the desk.

Larkman sighs, "Don't know yet, still looking for answers to questions but I think that might be close to figuring something out. Can I bring some toys with me?"

"Only one." Swallowman states, sighing as he sees his son start to pout, "Alright, two but that's all. Now hurry up and get yourself clean, you look like you were out playing in a mound of dirt with all that dust on you."

Another update~

***

"How do I end this useless war?" Larkman asks himself, mentally debatting the problem as he sits there in front of his chessboard.

The young bird navi watching his pieces carefully as he contemplates his next move, his pointer finger rocking his knight back and forth as he thinks. He moves the piece within range of the king, moving the other piece out of check as he plays the game alone.

"In order for me to bring an end to the conflict I will need powerful allies." The young child navi states, "I know I can win grandpa over with my charm since he loves me. But who can I get on the other side that would be able to help me? I need more time to think about this I guess."

Larkman stands up from his desk and moves over to his window, opening it wide again as he perches on the window sill. The young bird navi spreading his wings to take flight before a knock at the door stops him, almost causing him to fall over backwards into his room. He quickly closes the window and hops into his bed, pulling a sheet over him and looking like he was there the whole time.

"Come in." He chirps quietly, watching the door open and his mother enter with some cookies in tow.

"Hello there my little birdy." Swallowman chimes as he goes over to his son, sitting on the edge of the bed with the plate of cookies. "You seemed like you have had something on your mind all day, is something wrong Larkman?"

The red eyed navi smiles as he eyes the cookies, "I'm okay mom. I've just been thinking about somethings that have checked into about this war thing that is going on."

The older bird navi hands a cookie to him, "Now didn't we all tell you not to worry about it. A young darkloid like yourself shouldn't concern yourself with the affairs of adults."

"I know mom, but I don't like all the fighting." Larkman states, taking the cookie offered from his mother, munching on it as he sits there. "I know that you are just as worried about dad and grandpa each time they head out and fight, but so are the other moms and people on the other side that watch their go out to fight against grandpa's armies. I don't think that it is fair for everyone, since we are all basically the same."

Swallowman strokes his son's head, "We aren't really all the dissimilar, I'll admit that. But darkloids are different then the navi's used by humans, we are kind of an evolved form of independent navi's that were once enslaved to fight in duels against human operated navi's when they couldn't find anyone else to fight with. The cruelity of humans towards such navi's is what really is driving your grandfather into this war."

Larkman looks at his mother and scoots closer to him, "What do you think about it in general them?

"I think that its pointless." His mother states, "In the end it will still come to navi's being enslaved in one form or another and everything will remain the same as it was before, only with fewer of us left."

The young bird navi crawls onto his mothers lap, wrapping his arms around Swallowman's chest as he hugs him, his mother hugging him also before finding himself pulled down into the bed. Larkman snuggles up to his mother, the older navi holding his son as the young bird navi goes to sleep in his arms.

"Wore himself out thinking and stressing over this." Swallowman says silently, craddling his young son. "My poor little Larkman."

I think Swallowman doesn't even really see the reason of the war either, and he just follows what his father is doing. Larkman is so cute and rather manipulative, although he means well. XD I love this family, I swear. /o/

A double chapter update, instead of leaving it at a cliffhanger once more. Thank you for the comments. ^n_n^ Enjoy~

***

Larkman wakes up early the next morning, his face nestled into his sleeping mothers chest, the small bird navi slowly moving away from Swallowman. His mother lays there on the bed softly snoring with a slight chirping sound as Larkman gets out of the bed, covering his mother with a blanket before moving over to his desk. The young bird navi pulls up a display and starts writing, silently making his way to the window and slipping out of the palace. The cool air coming in from the open window causes Swallowman to stir, the older bird navi sitting up in the bed and looking around bewildered at the absence of his son.

The blue navi sees the open display over the desk and slowly gets up to examine the transparent image. His violet eyes scanning over the text as his right hand minimizes the display, picking it up like a letter. Swallowman carries the letter sized display with him as he walks through the palace, pushing open the doors to the war room of his father, and interupting a meeting of the higher commanders. The bird navi flings the display into Shademan's chest, the small letter sized data falling onto his lap as he sits there on his throne. Shademan picks up the display and scans over it with his crimson eyes, slowly rising to his feet and looking at his son, the bird navi's violet eyes holding back tears.

"Leave us." Shademan states coldly, "NOW!"

The commanding darkloids start milling out of the room quickly so as not to incur the wrath of the vampire, Swallowman stopping his husband by grabbing his arm and holding him in place. A cold and pained gaze from the bird navi silences any arguement from Cosmoman as he turns to face Shademan, curious as to what was going on.

"Is this letter valid?" The vampire asks, looking at his son.

Swallowman nods slowly, "He must have written it right before the left."

"Letter?" Cosmoman questions, looking at his wife and then at the small display in Shademan's hands.

"Dear mom, dad, grandpa, and grandmom." Shademan starts, reading the letter out loud. "I have done my own questing for answers in what is going on and I have reached my own conclusion that whatever happens this war will never end the way either side wishes, and a new conflict will start. Since I know that grandpa is most likely reading this now, since mom has realized that I have left the palace, I think that I should say that I know you will not end this war till you have achieved victory. I've grown to understand the type of navi that you are, and that is one that never quits no matter what the odds are. From going out on my own without anyone knowing I have found out that the other side is the same way. Not only are they similar to us in that way, but they are so similar in everyway.

"Even when you try to discount the similarities I can still see them, and I wonder if you all have lost sight of what is really going on. This is nothing but a war of vengence and anger, not of liberation and freedom, if it is truely your feelings that are governing you then you will end this war peacefully. If you can't do this, then I am sorry to say that I can't return to the palace. Maybe then you will see the true loss of this war without me there, counting me as lost with the other darkloids that have gone and never come back. I still love you all, and I'm sorry to make you cry mom, but this is my choice. Love, Larkman."

Shademan lowers the letter and looks at his son and son-in-law, the bird navi's hands balled into tight fists as his eyes shake from holding back his emotions. Cosmoman stands there in a state of shock as he looks at the letter, wondering what his young son was thinking in taking off at this time. The vampire sits slowly back down into his throne with the letter, eyes closed in thought.

"What are we going to do?" Swallowman asks finally, breaking the silence of the room and looking at his father.

"We do nothing." The vampire states coldly, sitting back in his throne.

"But this is my son! Your grandson!" The bird navi explodes with anger, tears burning his eyes as they break free of the dam holding them. "How can you say that we do nothing when he is out there alone! Its your war that has caused this, and all you are going to do is sit there and ignore this!"

Shademan snaps his eyes open as he looks at his son, "I am not going to ignore this! There is nothing that we can do if his mind is made up about what he is going to do. We have our own missions and operations that are going to take place in short time, and I can not and will not devote needed sections of my forces to look for my grandson. Doing so will only cause us be defeated and there will be nothing for him to return to when he decides to return home."

"Cosmoman, please escort my son to your chambers and call the other commanders back in once you have gotten control of the situation with your wife." The vampire states, calmly as he relaxes into the chair.

Cosmoman nods politely as he takes Swallowman from the room, the door closing swiftly behind the pair and leaving Shademan alone in the war room.

"I can not end this war Larkman." Shademan states quietly, closing his eyes as he lowers his head, "It is beyond even my power now..."

***

Larkman hovers in the air over the city, looking around a bit puzzled as he slowly lowers himself to the ground, his shoulders slumping as he stands there with his eyes closed in thought.

"Bah, its useless." He declaires after a moment, "The city has changed since the last time I went to the amusement park, how could they have rebuilt and redone the layout so quickly?"

The young bird navi walks around the streets of the cyber city, appearing like just a regular navi amidst the crowd that was now allowed to resume their residency in the networked world. He wonders around looking at various large buildings and structures, trying to get his bearings and mentally note landmarks. Larkman chirps happily as he memorizes one of the large structures, only to pale when he sees the structure change under a new program architecture, looking behind him he sees the previous landmarks he had defined also gone, changed while he wasn't looking. The navi chirps to himself, his stomach twisting into nervous knots as he stands there, completely lost in the newly redesigned city.

Larkman looks around him, edging himself away from the crowd, his eyes looking around him at the taller navi's and wishing that he was the same height as they are. He starts to backup slowly, feeling ackward in his new surroundings, his backwards advance comes to a halt as he bumps into an object and hears a thud that makes him jump up and make a loud squawking chirp.

"Rockman, are you okay?" A young childs voice calls out, his face appearing on a screen in the air close to a fallen blue navi.

"I'm okay Netto, I just had a little run in with a low walking bird." The navi replies sitting up and looking at Larkman, "You should watch where you are going."

"I'm sorry." Larkman stammers apologeticly, watching as the older teenage navi stood up, remembering what his father and grandfather had said about a navi named Rockman.

"Are you okay?" Rockman asks, leaning down a bit.

"Uhm-ye-yes." The young bird states scared as he looks into the green eyes, "Wh- why do you ask?"

Rockman blinks for a moment before patting the shorter navi on the helmet, "Are you plugged in without your operator?"

"Operator... I don't, I mean that is..." Larkman thinks for a moment, "I'm just a little lost with all the redesigning to the city is all."

"So you are lost, well if it is alright with Netto I guess I can escort you around a bit." The blue navi states with a warm smile, Larkman feeling the knot in his stomach unwinding with it.

"Its alright with me Rockman, mom's having me do some chores so I'll just leave you connected so you can help him." Netto says from the small display screen.

"Thank you Netto, I'll be sure to remind you later of the appointment with Blues and Colonel." Rockman replies as the screen closes, "So how about we go walking around a bit?"

Larkman looks at the blue hand offered to him and cautiouly takes it, staying close to the older navi as he escorts him throught the city. His caution soon vanishing as he spends more time with the blue navi.

"Maybe Rockman isn't as bad as grandpa and dad made him out to be." Larkman thinks to himself, smiling as he enjoys the tour.
