Perchance, do many people here play this game?

I started at Odyssey Block and stopped mid-way through Kamigawa. Still follow the game news though.

I started playing during 4th edition. Kept up with the game till Scourge, then my money was devoted towards Heroclix. I was never one to buy cards online, and I had other things to devote my money towards than cards, so I got sick of getting beaten by the guys who bought a few boxes of a set and whomped on you with three or four copies of the best card in the set. I enjoyed it a lot, still have the last deck I played, Black and Blue Discard/Megrim. Throw a few millstones and howling mines in, and the opponent's deck is gone.

I play.

I started in Onslaught, and I've been playing, on and off, ever since. I've attended prerelease events for the pst few blocks, including pretty much all of Mirrodin, Unhinged (God I loved that day), and the first two of Kamigawa. Now, I am still looking through the sets, and seeing as how the newest set hits the streets today, I'm more than anxious to get my hands on it. The mechanics look awesome.

As for why i enjoy the game, it's two reasons--
1) The art is simply magnificent. Looks a hell of a lot better than some of the art I've seen on some of the cards in other CCGs.

2) The depth of strategy is incredible. A LOT more so than that of other CCGs I've seen. There is a LOT more room for tactics and long-term strategy in this game than there is in other CCGs, like, say Yu-Gi-Oh. I find that game to be TOO heavily based on luck, and the scope of skill to overcome that luck is too narrow.

So yeah, I'm a pretty fervent player.

Edit: Oops, forgot my colors. I really don't have a preference as to which colors I play, but for all of my tornaments in the recent years I've always gone Green-Black for some reason...

I started playind during some early set and stopped and started again around two or three times, and plan to start again as soon as Mari starts giving me death threats if I don't get my deck made.

I mostly play Blue, either by itself or with any other color. (usually with white or green) and I tend to use a lot of counters and stalling cards)

I enjoy using Phantom Creatures, so they don't die in battle. \o/ Mainly White and Green.

Oh what was the channel name...#REOMagic I think...we play Magic in here usually, so join in if you want to play. It's on the same network as the main channel.

Yes it is. Usually, it'll be me, Starry, Mari, and Sketch as the regulars...if we ever get a game going. I think I've heard Core plays as well, as well as ChibiTemplar, but they're more of semi-regulars, I think.

I started at 4th edition. I still play when there's someone to fight. I have a red deck and I focus on artifacts and sumoning strong creatures fast. I came in second place at a local tourney. A friend of mine one thanks to his quick summon elf deck. He had six elves before I had a single card on the field. I also have a green deck, I dont use it though. Anyone have a favorite card? I like Tel-Jilad Archers, its pretty cool.

I used to play like a maniac. A friend of my dad's was actually a playtester for the game, and he had a massive (read: thousands upon thousands of cards) collection, and he ended up giving a third of it to me, so I've honestly never bought any decks or booster packs, at all. I played alot during middle school with my MTG club, but a lack of people to play the game with on a regular basis since then has resulted in me, well, not playing. Sure, I still keep a few of my most favorite decks around, (my best were an all-Red dragon deck, a black and white Shadow deck of entirely Tempest cards, and a rainbow Sliver deck. Oo, that one was evil.) but it's been years since I last picked them up.

Wait, that's right, I forgot that. *death-threatens Starry*

I started playing Magic two years ago; Mirrodin had just begun, if I'm not mistaken. I only play in casual, never really like competitions anyway. I play blue and black, and I have two built decks right now. (No counters anymore, Sketch. XD)

Agreed, MC, Unhinged is awesome. I'm looking forward to Ravnica, too. The guilds mechanic is pretty neat, and there's good stuff for blue/black decks to use.

Woah! *goes to #REOMagic*

I've played U/G Madness, T&N (Mono-Green, G/R w/ FireBall) and some weird Extended Enchantress deck involving Soul Sculptor O_o

I haven't gotten to the Ravnica sets yet, but I have been known to play a mean game of M:tG myself.

I had a Blue/White/Green/Red Super deck, that I called "The United Nations" because the focus was giving out aid(read, Bribing people with life points while building my own at the same time) and then turning everyone else against each other. It was a 300+ card deck.

Then I had my Mirrodin Artifact deck, which amazingly enough, did not use the Ravager (Which everyone says is required to have a good artifact mirrodin deck.XP) It's focus was around using the different "Station" cards in the mirrodin set, to kill, tap, and deck people out. My Arcbound Infinity Respawn cycle pwns j00. And for shits and giggles, I added in Memnarch and a Mycosynth Lattice. It's nice being able to steal anything I want from the other side.

Currently, I'm using an older blue white green deck that I built from the remnants of my Uber deck. I haven't really gotten into using the Kamigawa Set, though, I am looking for a "Nameless One" card for it. I already have the summoning cards.

Wow.

Given the many MtG players on this site (AND good ones) I'm surprised that there hasn't been a sticky or something like that... Or even a thread for this. O_o

I used to play. Stopped sometime near the release of Urza's Saga (or something like that).

Anyway, my deck was made out of white and blue cards. I call my deck 'Air Superiority'. Simply put, build up defense and attack with flying monsters. My deck has 6 Circle of Protections: 1 for each 5 colors, and 1 for artifacts.

Which reminds me, my friend had a deck that used to counter my deck. It's made out of red and black cards. He simply calls it 'Rotten'. He depends on regenerating monsters. Kind of annoying...
