I know we have a few young people, mostly those who aren't old enough to gamble, but who here plays Texas Hold'em Poker?

I do. Retired from Magic in favour of the game. I figured that it would be a more worthy investment than to buy Magic cards and let them collect dust.

We even got a poker table and a 300 piece chip set. Now all we need is some chairs and we can play or teach people who want to play the game.

Usually once a month I go to a friends place and play poker up there. Haven't won anything yet, but I will in time.

Ahh yes. This classic game.

Among the other games that I've seen played in the hallways of my high school, Texas Hold'Em was and is still very prominent. I usually didn't play then, because my budget was very meager when I was in high school and I didn't like to gamble...

Oddly enough, this game is played by a lot of math team people--usually, on bus trips to the meet, the back half of the bus plays Hold'Em while the front half plays either bridge or mafia. Perhaps the probabilistic portion of the game appeals to math-attuned students. Go figure.

I admit, I have played a bit. I'm not all too good, though. I'm terrible at reading other people's bluffs and I'm a horrible liar myself. Thus, I couldn't wretch the pot away from another player unless I had the strength in the cards.

Other than that, I do happen to watch the World Poker Tour on Travel Channel semi-regularly. All of the other knock-offs, like Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown and GSN's Poker Royale I refuse to watch because it simply does not show enough skilled players.

I used to play that. No money involved though (not directly at least). I can read bluffs, but I just couldn't make them.

I played a crapload of poker my freshman year. Needless to say, I'm a decent player. I had a profit of $10, after a series of winning and loosing all kinds of money.

For free, of course.
