I play games because I get bored other wise. I like to play them durring the night since there is realy nothing to do at that time untill I go to sleep.

Um, because it's fun? Because I enjoy playing video games? What other reason do you need?
Kind of reminds me of this game I play on Warcraft III. I'm already at the maximum experience level, and yet I still play the game, which baffles the hell out of other people, who seemingly can't understand why someone would want to keep playing after they've achieved their goal.

Because life's a game in itself and we are attracted to other sorts of games too. It's fun!

That is too true :V
And now, my psychology mode. *ahem*
A different way of looking as to why we play (besides out of boredom, reality escaping and fun) is that playing is a process of social development. Well, the easiest one to point out is that we usually play with others, and that streghtens our social bonds with others, and thus allow us to work together in the future.
Also, playing also develops our sense of rules. After all, our world is governed by a set of rules.Thus through playing, we learn to discipline ourselves to do something while following certain limitations.
Lastly, playing enhances our skill level physically. I for one can say that my hands have gotten much more nimble since I started playing video games |

Why? I need mental sitmualation. Unlike board games, and tv, my mind needs something to do. So video games are the answer. Boredom kills!
Yes, video games can make you addicted, but can help as well. :O
