I'm interested in hearing some sad J-Pop/Anime songs... and preferably through terms of lyrics as well. Sure, for example, "Suteki da Ne" has a lukewarm sound of despair and faintly shimmering hope... but the title translates to "Isn't It Beautiful?" and the song sings of love and togetherness. Not that sad after all, huh?

So, yeah, this isn't a poll or anything... I would just like to know everyone's opinions on the saddest J-Pop/Anime song they've heard.

Suteki da ne is a sorowful song, but it makes me feel hopeful instead of sad. Plus it's a very beautiful song as well.

First Love is a good song, my friend loves that song.

My Will and Dearest is a good song. Along with Song of Truth. All from Do As Infinity.

Ayumi Hamasaki's "Moments".

The broken pieces of your dream
Pierce my heart
Leaving the pain
That I should never forget

If my life is transient like a flower
I'll be in full bloom by your side
And after watching your smile
I'll fall alone, quietly

How was the scenery you saw
When you were pushed into an abyss of despair

The almost-saddest song I've ever heard is probably "Half Pain", which happens to be the ending song for Witch Hunter Robin sung by Bana.

Ummm, Dearest is by Ayumi Hamasaki, not Do As Infinity...

You want to know what's sad? Do As Infinity breaking up at the end of Sept...

Anyways, sad songs:

Nobody Reason - MOVE
Four Seasons (the first half)- Hitomi Shimatani
Inuyasha Movie 1 Theme (why does this song apparently have no name? o.O) - Ayumi Hamasaki
Motherland - Crystal Kay

Suteki da Ne definately wins though...

While Suteki da ne is pretty sad, I'd have to say my first choice is Forever Love, the ending song for the X/1999 movie.

Hmm... Sad songs, eh? Ones that could make me cry are:
Real - Dual! (Haru and Sayaka)
Half-Pain - Witch Hunter Robin (Bana)
Stone Roses - Weiss Kreuz Gluhen
The second ending song of Inuyasha...

Eh... Not that many to mention. The rest I have aren't all that sad.

Yup, Suteki da Ne is a sad tune.

Haha. Actually, that happens to be my number one pick for saddest J-Pop song in my collection. I really friggin <3 that song... (and believe me--I -never- use <3 to express my love for something)...

I'm actually surprised. I've already heard most of the songs everyone's listing, especially the Inuyasha songs. I didn't think I was that in-touch with the J-Pop world, either... =P

A lot of these, though... in my opinion are really "pretty," but not sad. I'm talking flat-out full of grief and anguish... absent of that certain "this is the end, but there's still hope" quality that's so common in J-Pop songs. But keep 'em coming, and thanks.

It's not that I don't listen to J-Pop, (I have 1000's of songs), it's just that I have mostly happy songs. :D

Although Garnet Moon by Hitomi Shimatani has a sad sounding beginning.

Same with the first parts of Yukata no Yume by Do As Infinity.

For most people, "J-pop" only consists of "the opening/ending songs for our favorite shows". :P I'm guessing few been exposed to anything but them and other songs done by their respective artists - note the heavy Inuyasha influence, but not all concentrated on the same song.

Yeah, I figured as much. About the only straying away from "opening/endings of anime" I have are my Ayumi Hamasaki CDs and some Tommy Heavenly 6...

Damn right! I see so many people out there who say they're hardcore J-Pop fans for life but their entire list is made up of the Inuyasha openings and endings.

I'd just like to say that a large amount of the american J-Pop fan population overplays songs like Itazara na Kiss and My Will...

Letsee, the anime openings and endings I listen to often (as in songs I really like):

My Will - Dream
Yukata no Yume - Do As Infinity
Every Heart - BoA
Haruka Kanata - AKFG
Rewrite - AKFG
Go - Flow
Real Love - ParaGo

That's pretty much it....

As for the rest of my collection, besides the other Anime Opening/Endings I don't listen to so often I also have:

-Nearly every single Ayumi Hamasaki song in existance minus her recent CD which I'm too poor to get
-A lot of BoA, although it's more K-Pop than J-Pop
-Lots of AKFG
-One DoA CD
-A few ParaGo songs
-A ton of Hitomi Shimatani
-Lots of Utada Hikaru
-Half of MOVE's songs
-Quite a bit of Two-Mix
-other stuff I don't remember

Yeah, I pretty much went off topic there.... ^^;;

Don't dry wiht fakes or fears.....

yeah. That's what I can of think for now.

Opps, I was looking at Haruka Kanata when i was posting this. Sorry for the mixup.
They do have sad songs form Inuysha and Gundam I think....

That's Wind, not Haruka Kanata. That's the...second intro song I think, or the fifth. At any rate those lyrics are from Wind.

I guess it depends on what songs immediately come to mind. Songs from favorite shows are usually the first to pop out on a person's mind, like me.

As for RollEXE's song, that's an ending song. It's the first ending song in fact.

Anyways, I just ran through my list of songs, and I found another sad J-Pop tune. Has anyone heard of Utada Hikaru's Final Distance?

I'm not sure if this would technically fit under j-pop, but if you wanna hear some sad songs, you could maybe get a few from this list:

Yoko Kanno: Songs from Cowboy Bebop
-The Real Folk Blues
-Blue
-Ballad of The Fallen Angel (short, but serious if you take it seriously.)

Outlaw Star Ending Them Song (Melfina's Song or Hiro No Tsuki)

They have alot of meaning to them.

Three songs I have to mention are No Needs, Navy Blue and Kuuki by Rina Aiuchi. But definatly among the saddest J-Pop songs is definatly Ayumi Hamasaki's Moments, as mentioned above. Those songs are so beautiful, yet so sad. T_T
