I hope you know Neko and Sol aren't your only audience. *grumps* Anyway....

You need not worry about the content of the combat situation--it was absolutely fine as it is. I like the logic that is presented in it--and how all of the correct emotions are associated with the right characters. You can't help but sympathize with Netto a bit--how his broken mind seems to be completely recessive now. Great job.

Chapter 7 - Inside the Flame

"Target Locked! Shoot!" Laika cried out as he allowed the camouflage to wear off, shooting towards several dimensional converters. The three shots pierced through their respective targets, striding forward to others that were within the fireline.

Enzan took the chance and rushed towards Netto, "Bamboo Lance!" The lances hit square on Netto's chest, pushing him towards one of the structures contained withing the now fading dimensional area.

"No!" Dark Rockman shouted angrily as the fusion disolved, his purple pet falling to the ground a couple of steps from Netto's body. "This is not the end." He growled lowly, narrowing his eyes, "Netto-kun, plug me in! Hurry!"

Netto moaned softly, dazzled from the recent attack. He tried to stand up to pick up the PET, only to be forced back into the ground by Enzan's weight over him. "G-Get away from me!" Netto struggled against Enzan, the older boy clinging firmly to him as he saw the aqua haired solder run towards them. In a last effort, Netto reached up for the pet , barely holding it in his hand and pressing the plug-in icon, sending Dark Rockman to the safety of the network before Laika slapped the gadget from his hand.

"Damn it." The red eyed navi muttered as he sat in the desk he fancied as throne, "If only Netto would have attacked that Sharo soldier... But that's alright. We're not done yet, Netto-kun. They won't be able to keep us appart for too long." the navi chuckled softly as he closed his eyes to think over a new strategy.

"Is he going to be alright, papa?" Rockman asked as he watched Yuuichirou review Netto's condition through the screen of his PET.

Yuuichirou shook his head slightly, letting out an exhausted sigh, Commander Kifune, Manabe, Meijin, Enzan and Laika looked at him expectantly, "I don't know. His physical injuries aren't serious. However, I can't determine the magnitude of the psychological damage Dark Rockman produced on him." The scientist crossed his arms, looking down for a moment, "For now, the best we can do is keep him sedated until the analisis is complete."

"I'm certain we haven't seen the last of Dark Rockman. He's going to come back for Netto." Enzan crossed his arms, looking down at Netto's limp form in the bed. "I think we need to keep guard of this area to protect him."

"I agree." Laika stepped forward, "However, I'd like to appoint myself to guard him. I don't think it's wise to let Enzan remain close to Netto under these circumstances."

"What?!" The skunk haired boy glared at the other net savior.

"It's not by personal bias. But he seemed to have some sort of grudge against you, he kept attacking you. If he wakes up, the best for his peace of mind is to keep him away from people that make him feel insecure."

Enzan's hands tightened into fists, he hated to admit it, but Laika was right. Whatever Dark Rockman had done to Netto made him feel dislike towards him. "Very well, but if you let anything happen to him I--"

"I know my duties." The Aqua haired boy interrupted, rewarding the other net savior with a cold stare, "Concentrate. Devote your efforts into matters that'll help Netto."

Enzan heldback a soft snort, nodding softly before he casted a last glance to the sleeping brunette. "Blues, call the limousine, we have work to do."

"Yes, Enzan-sama."

Rockman remained silent during the discussion, his worries centered around Netto's well being. What was Dark Rockman up to right now? He couldn't help but dig his fingers into his palms, feeling the frustration and anger pile up within him. "Please, Netto-kun... please, be alright."

Yes you are. Please allow me to refrain myself from rushing towards you in a fit of murderous rage.

I did see some odd spelling errors in it, but that is pretty much insignificant compared to the rest of this fic. God, cliffhangers are evil. Especially when there is no schedule as to when the story will proceed.

I am a bit intrigued by Laika's decision--it seems logical, but a bit off. I can't really say why. Other than that, it was another great read.

Chapter 8 - Hold me Now

Laika sighed softly as he leaned back in a comfortable chair. Azure eyes locked in the sleeping boy, how long had it been? He couldn't remember how many days Netto had been unconcious, but he was sure at least two or three days had gone by.

Inside the blue Progress PET, Rockman was sitting down, watching his operator through the screen of the device.

"Netto-kun..."

He couldn't help but let out a soft whimper, tightening his fists, impotence and frustration kept growing into him. He felt guilty, guilty that he couldn't do anything to stop Dark Rockman from taking his operator away and toy with his mind.

He wanted to scream, cry out and blame Dark Rockman for everything, but deep inside, he still felt he was the one to blame.

"Rockman?"

Blues voice snapped him out of his musings. Rockman turned around and faked his best smile for the taller navi.

"Hi, Blues! What can I do for you?" He said as he stood up, instintively holding a hand behind his neck, rubbing it.

The crimson navi was not tricked by the smaller navi's act, but smiled nonetheless and moved closer.

"I wanted to check on you. How are you doing?"

"Weren't you and Enzan going to try and track down Dark Rockman?"

Blues shook his head and laid a hand on Rockman's shoulder. "Answer my question."

The smaller navi sighed and dropped his cheerful masquerade, dropping his glance to his feet. "I'm... okay." He lied.

Blues said nothing for a few momments, but he could hear a slight sobbing sound coming from the smaller one. He knew the feelings of frustration and guilt the smaller one was feeling. He felt the same way when he first recovered from his own journey of shadows months ago.

He sighed and wrapped his arms around the smaller navi, holding him close to his taller frame. Rockman said nothing as he wrapped his own arms around the red navi, welcoming the embrace.

"...You ask if I love you, well what can I say?..."

Rockman blinked a few times, Blues voice reaching him as he held him closer. Was he singing? The smaller navi let out a tiny smile, it was more of a mumble than an actual attempt to sing. He could tell the other was somewhat embarased of what he was doing, but he was still doing it for him.

"...You know that I do and if this is just one of those games that we play..." Blues mumbled his song, slowly letting his voice picking up, becoming a little louder, feeling more comfortable as the song progressed, "So I'll sing you a new song, please don't cry anymore..."

Rockman's smile widened as the taller navi's song progressed, resting his head on his chest and closing his eyes. For those precious moments he let the world fall away, feeling understanding and comfort in that simple but meaningful act.

"Hold me now, warm my heart stay with me, let loving start..." Blues kept singing for a long while, repeating the same song over and over, just for that instant in time, to give the smaller one a little bit of peace, and reassurance.

"Thank you, Blues..." Rockman whispered softly enough that his voice wouldn't distract the other navi, feeling at last a bit of hope. As long as he had his friends to relay on, as long as Netto had friends that cared about him, he'd be able to pull through this. He didn't know how just yet, but he knew he'd bring his Netto back to them.

Ooooh, very lovely chapter Planty. I liked how you showed Rockman in his solitude and despairing over everything, and Blues comes along to fix it. I liked it a lot. =o

Indeed it was, indeed it was.

It's quite apt how you show Rock finding comfort with Blues, since the latter has gone through an almost similar experience. Reading it gives that oft-cited "warm, fuzzy feeling."

I do have one question, though--the little ditty that Blues was singing in the latter half--are the lyrics from an established song or are they just original?
