Rehauled News System

This will be a trial run for a different kind of news system. I wanted a way for both the site visitors and forum goers to stay up to date with the happenings over at the main site, and this seemed like the best solution. Now when someone wishes to post a comment to a news post, they are taken directly to the forum thread. In addition, this will allow me to keep control on who posts comments, and the content.

This is still very much in the testing stage, so expect some alterations within the next week or two. Nobi barely had enough time to get this running before he had to leave for vacation, so we'll continue work on it this Sunday.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated! I will be working on making custom avatars for each catagory.

Maybe you should make the font a little bit smaller. they are a little bit too big.

Hmm. This is something that although I do not see having merit enough for its own forum--maybe a sticky in the general forum--I can see that this will merit some use.

I assume Guest posting is disabled here, like it is everywhere else? I agree with some of the users here--the font used is rather blotchy and large. It looks really awkward. In addition, perhaps it would be best if you removed the transcripts of the posts from the update page altogether, since one mere click will lead a visitor to the thread....

Other than that, I think it's a fabulous idea.

The font is one issue that will be dealt with. Nobi will figure out how to make it smaller when he returns on Sunday.

Alright, when you look on the specific "thread" for a topic under the Updates Section, and find the topic, below the text of the topic is basically all of our posts, transcribed onto that page. I just think it's a bit wasteful, since one of the links leads right to the forum version of the thread, and the guest looking it over can see the same information in plain sight, without having it duplicated on the main page.

If that still doesn't make any sense, I'm sorry. PM me on IRC and I'll see if I can make it clearer.

Edit: Look HERE and note that the posts are identical. That is what I am referring to.

Ooh, that. I don't really see much problem with it. It will be handy if someone is banned from the forum, so they can still read the comments, even though they cannot post.

Mari: I'm pretty sure it does, the setup is in the admin panel. I'll have to have Nobi look at it though, I have no idea how that thing works.

Everyone - how is it looking now? I've tweaked more things (after finally finding the correct file to alter).
