Just picked up Guitar Hero today. Apparently we keep selling out of them in Game Stop (I bought the last one in stock today from our last shipment.) Played it a bit... very nice :3 I don't even really like Rock songs in particular, but I seem to be a sucker for all the Konami Harmonex games! I'm still on easy mode so far (which uses 3 of the five buttons so far), and it's tons of fun. Though it DOES get tiring after awhile (so you really can't rock on for too long without taking a break.) So I took picutres of the Guitar controller that it comes standard with
Literally Rockman? *Bricked*
I couldn't resist putting the Kobun charm on. The game comes with stickers you can decorate your guitar with, but I thought this was cuter!
The game's format is similar to karaoke revolution, though if you don't go through career mode, only five songs are initially open for you in "quick play" mode. Everytime you beat a venue (beat 4/5 songs in first four venues, all 5/5 in the last venue when you go "pro") you open up a new set of five songs in both the career mode and in quick play mode. Multiplayer requires two guitars... well, you can play with a controller... but good luck, since the playability almost gets quashed to zero on a controller (but yes, it is possible)
Three lessons are available, two basic and one for "advanced" skills like Hammering (both kind of short.) For those who need a bit of a learning curve (*waves arm, MEEEE*) you can start with "easy" mode which only uses three of the fret buttons (buttons you push with your left hand--assuming you're right handed--at the top of the guitar). Normal uses 4 fret buttons, hard uses all 5, and Expert for some truely crazy stuff.
Good stuff, and there's quite a bit more play for this game due to the nicely spread out difficulty levels. Later on you can also "buy" new guitars and skins for your equipment. Rock on! _________________

Hey, that looks like the ones from Guitar Freaks, only with more buttons.
I might try that if I see it.
What kind of songs are in that game? _________________ My deviantART... |

It is kind of like Guitar Freaks (by Konami)... though at first I thought Guitar Hero was the Amerian name for the Konami game, it's actually by Harmonix (they worked with Konami on Karaoke Revolution...) and Red Octane (of DDR pads fame). The in game presentation is different, and the 4th and 5th button add quite a bit of difficulty. I'm working on the 4th button now.
For the song list, check here:
